The goal of the paper is to present a solution to improve the fault detection accuracy of rolling bearings. The method is based on variational mode decomposition (VMD), multiscale permutation entropy (MPE) and the particle swarm optimization-based support vector machine (PSO-SVM). Firstly, the original bearing vibration signal is decomposed into several intrinsic mode functions (IMF) by using the VMD method, and the feature energy ratio (FER) criterion is introduced to reconstruct the bearing vibration signal. Secondly, the multiscale permutation entropy of the reconstructed signal is calculated to construct multidimensional feature vectors. Finally, the constructed multidimensional feature vector is fed into the PSO-SVM classification model for automatic identification of different fault patterns of the rolling bearing. Two experimental cases are adopted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve a higher identification accuracy compared with some similar available methods (e.g., variational mode decomposition-based multiscale sample entropy (VMD-MSE), variational mode decomposition-based multiscale fuzzy entropy (VMD-MFE), empirical mode decomposition-based multiscale permutation entropy (EMD-MPE) and wavelet transform-based multiscale permutation entropy (WT-MPE)).  相似文献

Rolling bearings act as key parts in many items of mechanical equipment and any abnormality will affect the normal operation of the entire apparatus. To diagnose the faults of rolling bearings effectively, a novel fault identification method is proposed by merging variational mode decomposition (VMD), average refined composite multiscale dispersion entropy (ARCMDE) and support vector machine (SVM) optimized by multistrategy enhanced swarm optimization in this paper. Firstly, the vibration signals are decomposed into different series of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) based on VMD with the center frequency observation method. Subsequently, the proposed ARCMDE, fusing the superiorities of DE and average refined composite multiscale procedure, is employed to enhance the ability of the multiscale fault-feature extraction from the IMFs. Afterwards, grey wolf optimization (GWO), enhanced by multistrategy including levy flight, cosine factor and polynomial mutation strategies (LCPGWO), is proposed to optimize the penalty factor C and kernel parameter g of SVM. Then, the optimized SVM model is trained to identify the fault type of samples based on features extracted by ARCMDE. Finally, the application experiment and contrastive analysis verify the effectiveness of the proposed VMD-ARCMDE-LCPGWO-SVM method.  相似文献

Wind turbine gearboxes operate in harsh environments; therefore, the resulting gear vibration signal has characteristics of strong nonlinearity, is non-stationary, and has a low signal-to-noise ratio, which indicates that it is difficult to identify wind turbine gearbox faults effectively by the traditional methods. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new fault diagnosis method for wind turbine gearboxes based on generalized composite multiscale Lempel–Ziv complexity (GCMLZC). Within the proposed method, an effective technique named multiscale morphological-hat convolution operator (MHCO) is firstly presented to remove the noise interference information of the original gear vibration signal. Then, the GCMLZC of the filtered signal was calculated to extract gear fault features. Finally, the extracted fault features were input into softmax classifier for automatically identifying different health conditions of wind turbine gearboxes. The effectiveness of the proposed method was validated by the experimental and engineering data analysis. The results of the analysis indicate that the proposed method can identify accurately different gear health conditions. Moreover, the identification accuracy of the proposed method is higher than that of traditional multiscale Lempel–Ziv complexity (MLZC) and several representative multiscale entropies (e.g., multiscale dispersion entropy (MDE), multiscale permutation entropy (MPE) and multiscale sample entropy (MSE)).  相似文献

The complex and harsh working environment of rolling bearings cause the fault characteristics in vibration signal contaminated by the noise, which make fault diagnosis difficult. In this paper, a feature enhancement method of rolling bearing signal based on variational mode decomposition with K determined adaptively (K-adaptive VMD), and radial based function fuzzy entropy (RBF-FuzzyEn), is proposed. Firstly, a phenomenon called abnormal decline of center frequency (ADCF) is defined in order to determine the parameter K of VMD adaptively. Then, the raw signal is separated into K intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). A coefficient En for selecting optimal IMFs is calculated based on the center frequency bands (CFBs) of all IMFs and frequency spectrum for original signal autocorrelation operation. After that, the optimal IMFs of which En are bigger than the threshold are selected to reconstruct signal. Secondly, RBF is introduced as an innovative fuzzy function to enhance the feature discrimination of fuzzy entropy between bearings in different states. A specific way for determination of parameter r in fuzzy function is also presented. Finally, RBF-FuzzyEn is used to extract features of reconstructed signal. Simulation and experiment results show that K-adaptive VMD can effectively reduce the noise and enhance the fault characteristics; RBF-FuzzyEn has strong feature differentiation, superior noise robustness, and low dependence on data length.  相似文献

Bearing vibration signals typically have nonlinear components due to their interaction and coupling effects, friction, damping, and nonlinear stiffness. Bearing faults affect the signal complexity at various scales. Hence, measuring signal complexity at different scales is helpful to diagnosis of bearing faults. Numerous studies have investigated multiscale algorithms; nevertheless, multiscale algorithms using the first moment lose important complexity data. Accordingly, generalized multiscale algorithms have been recently introduced. The present research examined the use of refined composite generalized multiscale dispersion entropy (RCGMDispEn) based on the second moment (variance) and third moment (skewness) along with refined composite multiscale dispersion entropy (RCMDispEn) in bearing fault diagnosis. Moreover, multiclass FCM-ANFIS, which is a combination of adaptive network-based fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS), was developed to improve the efficiency of rotating machinery fault classification. According to the results, it is recommended that generalized multiscale algorithms based on variance and skewness be examined for diagnosis, along with multiscale algorithms, and be used to achieve an improvement in the results. The simultaneous usage of the multiscale algorithm and generalized multiscale algorithms improved the results in all three real datasets used in this study.  相似文献

As a powerful tool for measuring complexity and randomness, multivariate multi-scale permutation entropy (MMPE) has been widely applied to the feature representation and extraction of multi-channel signals. However, MMPE still has some intrinsic shortcomings that exist in the coarse-grained procedure, and it lacks the precise estimation of entropy value. To address these issues, in this paper a novel non-linear dynamic method named composite multivariate multi-scale permutation entropy (CMMPE) is proposed, for optimizing insufficient coarse-grained process in MMPE, and thus to avoid the loss of information. The simulated signals are used to verify the validity of CMMPE by comparing it with the often-used MMPE method. An intelligent fault diagnosis method is then put forward on the basis of CMMPE, Laplacian score (LS), and bat optimization algorithm-based support vector machine (BA-SVM). Finally, the proposed fault diagnosis method is utilized to analyze the test data of rolling bearings and is then compared with the MMPE, multivariate multi-scale multiscale entropy (MMFE), and multi-scale permutation entropy (MPE) based fault diagnosis methods. The results indicate that the proposed fault diagnosis method of rolling bearing can achieve effective identification of fault categories and is superior to comparative methods.  相似文献

When rolling bearings have a local fault, the real bearing vibration signal related to the local fault is characterized by the properties of nonlinear and nonstationary. To extract the useful fault features from the collected nonlinear and nonstationary bearing vibration signals and improve diagnostic accuracy, this paper proposes a new bearing fault diagnosis method based on parameter adaptive variational mode extraction (PAVME) and multiscale envelope dispersion entropy (MEDE). Firstly, a new method hailed as parameter adaptive variational mode extraction (PAVME) is presented to process the collected original bearing vibration signal and obtain the frequency components related to bearing faults, where its two important parameters (i.e., the penalty factor and mode center-frequency) are automatically determined by whale optimization algorithm. Subsequently, based on the processed bearing vibration signal, an effective complexity evaluation approach named multiscale envelope dispersion entropy (MEDE) is calculated for conducting bearing fault feature extraction. Finally, the extracted fault features are fed into the k-nearest neighbor (KNN) to automatically identify different health conditions of rolling bearing. Case studies and contrastive analysis are performed to validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can not only effectively extract bearing fault features, but also obtain a high identification accuracy for bearing fault patterns under single or variable speed.  相似文献

The health condition of the rolling bearing seriously affects the operation of the whole mechanical system. When the rolling bearing parts fail, the time series collected in the field generally shows strong nonlinearity and non-stationarity. To obtain the faulty characteristics of mechanical equipment accurately, a rolling bearing fault detection technique based on k-optimized adaptive local iterative filtering (ALIF), improved multiscale permutation entropy (improved MPE), and BP neural network was proposed. In the ALIF algorithm, a k-optimized ALIF method based on permutation entropy (PE) is presented to select the number of ALIF decomposition layers adaptively. The completely average coarse-graining method was proposed to excavate more hidden information. The performance analysis of the simulation signal shows that the improved MPE can more accurately dig out the depth information of the time series, and the entropy value obtained is more consistent and stable. In the research application, rolling bearing time series are decomposed by k-optimized ALIF to obtain a certain number of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Then the improved MPE value of effective IMF is calculated and input into backpropagation (BP) neural network as the feature vector for automatic fault identification. The comparative analysis of simulation signals shows that this method can extract fault information effectively. At the same time, the experimental part shows that this scheme not only effectively extracts the fault features, but also realizes the classification and identification of different fault modes and faults of different degrees, which has a certain application prospect in the research and application direction of rolling bearing fault identification.  相似文献

Stochastic resonance (SR), a noise-assisted tool, has been proved to be very powerful in weak signal detection. The multiscale noise tuning SR (MSTSR), which breaks the restriction of the requirement of small parameters and white noise in classical SR, has been applied to identify the characteristic frequency of a bearing. However, the multiscale noise tuning (MST), which is originally based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT), limits the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvement of SR and the performance in identifying multiple bearing faults. In this paper, the wavelet packet transform (WPT) is developed and incorporated into the MSTSR method to overcome its shortcomings and to further enhance its capability in multiple faults detection of bearings. The WPT-based MST can achieve a finer tuning of multiscale noise and aims at detecting multiple target frequencies separately. By introducing WPT into the MST of SR, this paper proposes an improved SR method particularly suited for the identification of multiple transient faults in rolling element bearings. Simulated and practical bearing signals carrying multiple characteristic frequencies are employed to validate the performance improvement of the proposed method as compared to the original DWT-based MSTSR method. The results confirm the good capability of the proposed method in multi-fault diagnosis of rolling element bearings.  相似文献

In order to detect the incipient fault of rolling bearings and to effectively identify fault characteristics, based on amplitude-aware permutation entropy (AAPE), an enhanced method named hierarchical amplitude-aware permutation entropy (HAAPE) is proposed in this paper to solve complex time series in a new dynamic change analysis. Firstly, hierarchical analysis and AAPE are combined to excavate multilevel fault information, both low-frequency and high-frequency components of the abnormal bearing vibration signal. Secondly, from the experimental analysis, it is found that HAAPE is sensitive to the early failure of rolling bearings, which makes it suitable to evaluate the performance degradation of a bearing in its run-to-failure life cycle. Finally, a fault feature selection strategy based on HAAPE is put forward to select the bearing fault characteristics after the application of the least common multiple in singular value decomposition (LCM-SVD) method to the fault vibration signal. Moreover, several other entropy-based methods are also introduced for a comparative analysis of the experimental data, and the results demonstrate that HAAPE can extract fault features more effectively and with a higher accuracy.  相似文献

This paper proposes a multi-fault detection method based on the adaptive spectral kurtosis (ASK) analysis of the vibration signal from single sensor. A theoretical model of multiple bearing faults is established in this paper. Compared with the kurtogram and protrugram techniques, the proposed method can more effectively extract signatures of multiple bearing faults even in the presence of strong background noise. The performance of the proposed method in fault detection of the rolling element bearings is validated using simulation data and experimental signals from a bearing with multiple faults and two faulty bearings.  相似文献

The fuzzy-entropy-based complexity metric approach has achieved fruitful results in bearing fault diagnosis. However, traditional hierarchical fuzzy entropy (HFE) and multiscale fuzzy entropy (MFE) only excavate bearing fault information on different levels or scales, but do not consider bearing fault information on both multiple layers and multiple scales at the same time, thus easily resulting in incomplete fault information extraction and low-rise identification accuracy. Besides, the key parameters of most existing entropy-based complexity metric methods are selected based on specialist experience, which indicates that they lack self-adaptation. To address these problems, this paper proposes a new intelligent bearing fault diagnosis method based on self-adaptive hierarchical multiscale fuzzy entropy. On the one hand, by integrating the merits of HFE and MFE, a novel complexity metric method, named hierarchical multiscale fuzzy entropy (HMFE), is presented to extract a multidimensional feature matrix of the original bearing vibration signal, where the important parameters of HMFE are automatically determined by using the bird swarm algorithm (BSA). On the other hand, a nonlinear feature matrix classifier with strong robustness, known as support matrix machine (SMM), is introduced for learning the discriminant fault information directly from the extracted multidimensional feature matrix and automatically identifying different bearing health conditions. Two experimental results on bearing fault diagnosis show that the proposed method can obtain average identification accuracies of 99.92% and 99.83%, respectively, which are higher those of several representative entropies reported by this paper. Moreover, in the two experiments, the standard deviations of identification accuracy of the proposed method were, respectively, 0.1687 and 0.2705, which are also greater than those of the comparison methods mentioned in this paper. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method are verified by the experimental results.  相似文献

As failures of rolling bearings lead to major failures in rotating machines, recent vibration-based rolling bearing fault diagnosis techniques are focused on obtaining useful fault features from the huge collection of raw data. However, too many features reduce the classification accuracy and increase the computation time. This paper proposes an effective feature selection technique based on intrinsic dimension estimation of compressively sampled vibration signals. First, compressive sampling (CS) is used to get compressed measurements from the collected raw vibration signals. Then, a global dimension estimator, the geodesic minimal spanning tree (GMST), is employed to compute the minimal number of features needed to represent efficiently the compressively sampled signals. Finally, a feature selection process, combining the stochastic proximity embedding (SPE) and the neighbourhood component analysis (NCA), is used to select fewer features for bearing fault diagnosis. With regression analysis-based predictive modelling technique and the multinomial logistic regression (MLR) classifier, the selected features are assessed in two case studies of rolling bearings vibration signals under different working loads. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can successfully select fewer features, with which the MLR-based trained model achieves high classification accuracy and significantly reduced computation times compared to published research.  相似文献

Effective diagnosis of vibration fault is of practical significance to ensure the safe and stable operation of power transformers. Aiming at the traditional problems of transformer vibration fault diagnosis, a novel feature extraction method based on complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN) and multi-scale dispersion entropy (MDE) was proposed. In this paper, CEEMDAN method is used to decompose the original transformer vibration signal. Additionally, then MDE is used to capture multi-scale fault features in the decomposed intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Next, the principal component analysis (PCA) method is employed to reduce the feature dimension and extract the effective information in vibration signals. Finally, the simplified features are sent into density peak clustering (DPC) to get the fault diagnosis results. The experimental data analysis shows that CEEMDAN-MDE can effectively extract the information of the original vibration signals and DPC can accurately diagnose the types of transformer faults. By comparing different algorithms, the practicability and superiority of this proposed method are verified.  相似文献

Continuous online monitoring of rotating machines is necessary to assess real-time health conditions so as to enable early detection of operation problems and thus reduce the possibility of downtime. Rolling element bearings are crucial parts of many machines and there has been an increasing demand to find effective and reliable health monitoring technique and advanced signal processing to detect and diagnose the size and location of incipient defects. Condition monitoring of rolling element bearings, comprises four main stages which are, statistical analysis, fault diagnostics, defect size calculation, and prognostics. In this paper the effect of defect size, operating speed, and loading conditions on statistical parameters of acoustic emission (AE) signals, using design of experiment method (DOE), have been investigated to select the most sensitive parameters for diagnosing incipient faults and defect growth on rolling element bearings. A modified and effective signal processing algorithm is designed to diagnose localized defects on rolling element bearings components under different operating speeds, loadings, and defect sizes. The algorithm is based on optimizing the ratio of Kurtosis and Shannon entropy to obtain the optimal band pass filter utilizing wavelet packet transform (WPT) and envelope detection. Results show the superiority of the developed algorithm and its effectiveness in extracting bearing characteristic frequencies from the raw acoustic emission signals masked by background noise under different operating conditions. To experimentally measure the defect size on rolling element bearings using acoustic emission technique, the proposed method along with spectrum of squared Hilbert transform are performed under different rotating speeds, loading conditions, and defect sizes to measure the time difference between the double AE impulses. Measurement results show the power of the proposed method for experimentally measuring size of different fault shapes using acoustic emission signals.  相似文献

Condition monitoring of rotating machinery is important to extend the mechanical system's reliability and operational life. However, in many cases, useful information is often overwhelmed by strong background noise and the defect frequency is difficult to be extracted. Stochastic resonance (SR) is used as a noise-assisted tool to amplify weak signals in nonlinear systems, which can detect weak signals of interest submerged in the noise. The multiscale noise tuning SR (MSTSR), which is originally based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT), has been applied to identify the fault characteristics and has also increased the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvement of SR. Therefore, a novel tri-stable SR method with multiscale noise tuning (MST) is proposed to extract fault signatures for fault diagnosis of rotating machinery. The wavelet packets transform (WPT) based MST can obtain better denoising effect and higher SNR of resonance output compared with the traditional SR method. Thus the proposed method is well-suited for enhancement of rotating machine fault identification, whose effectiveness has been verified by means of practical vibration signals carrying fault information from bearings. Finally, it can be concluded that the proposed method has practical value in engineering.  相似文献
