Numerical investigations have been made of responses of a Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neuron to spike-train inputs whose interspike interval (ISI) is modulated by deterministic, semi-deterministic (chaotic), and stochastic signals. As deterministic one, we adopt inputs with the time-independent ISI and with time-dependent ISI modulated by sinusoidal signal. The R?ssler and Lorentz models are adopted for chaotic modulations of ISI. Stochastic ISI inputs with the gamma distribution are employed. It is shown that distribution of output ISI data depends not only on the mean of ISIs of spike-train inputs but also on their fluctuations. The distinction of responses to the three kinds of inputs can be made by return maps of input and output ISIs, but not by their histograms. The relation between the variations of input and output ISIs is shown to be different from that of the integrate and fire (IF) model because of the refractory period in the HH neuron.  相似文献

Sequences of first-passage times can describe the interspike intervals (ISI) between subsequent action potentials of sensory neurons. Here, we consider the ISI statistics of a stochastic neuron model, a leaky integrate-and-fire neuron, which is driven by a strong mean input current, white Gaussian current noise, and a spike-frequency adaptation current. In previous studies, it has been shown that without a leak current, i.e. for a so-called perfect integrate-and-fire (PIF) neuron, the ISI density can be well approximated by an inverse Gaussian corresponding to the first-passage-time density of a biased random walk. Furthermore, the serial correlations between ISIs, which are induced by the adaptation current, can be described by a geometric series. By means of stochastic simulations, we inspect whether these results hold true in the presence of a modest leak current. Specifically, we measure mean and variance of the ISI in the full model with leak and use the analytical results for the perfect IF model to relate these cumulants of the ISI to effective values of the mean input and noise intensity of an equivalent perfect IF model. This renormalization procedure yields semi-analytical approximations for the ISI density and the ISI serial correlation coeffcient in the full model with leak. We find that both in the absence and the presence of an adaptation current, the ISI density can be well approximated in this way if the leak current constitutes only a weak modification of the dynamics. Moreover, also the serial correlations of the model with leak are well reproduced by the expressions for a PIF model with renormalized parameters. Our results explain, why expressions derived for the rather special perfect integrate-and-fire model can nevertheless be often well fit to experimental data.  相似文献

The pitch-shift reflex is a sophisticated system that produces a "compensatory" response in voice F0 that is opposite in direction to a change in voice pitch feedback (pitch-shift stimulus), thus correcting for the discrepancy between the intended voice F0 and the feedback pitch. In order to more fully exploit the pitch-shift reflex as a tool for studying the influence of sensory feedback mechanisms underlying voice control, the optimal characteristics of the pitch-shift stimulus must be understood. The present study was undertaken to assess the effects of altering the duration of the interstimulus interval (ISI) and the number of trials comprising an average on measures of the pitch-shift reflex. Pitch-shift stimuli were presented to vocalizing subjects with ISI of 5.0, 2.5, 1.0, and 0.5 s to determine if an increase in ISI altered response properties. With each ISI, measures of event-related averages of the first 10, 15, 20, or 30 pitch-shift reflex responses were compared to see if increases in the number of responses comprising an event-related average altered response properties. Measures of response latency, peak time, magnitude, and prevalence were obtained for all ISI and average conditions. While quantitative measures were similar across ISI and averaging conditions, we observed more instances of "non-responses" with averages of ten trials as well as at an ISI of 0.5 s. These findings suggest an ISI of 1.0 s and an average consisting of at least 15 trials produce optimal results. Future studies using these stimulus parameters may produce more reliable data due to the fivefold decrease in subject participation time and a concomitant decrease in fatigue, boredom, and inattention.  相似文献

本文采用计算机系统仿真的方法研究了应用相敏光放大器(PSA)并附加DCF色散补偿的高速常规单模光纤通信系统的传输性能,并和相同速率的掺铒光纤放大器(EDFA)系统进行了比较.研究着重于传输速率、放大器间距对系统码间干扰限制距离的影响.结果表明PSA系统比EDFA系统更适合于高速率传输并具有更长的传输距离.而且,对PSA系统,在放大器增益正好补偿光纤损耗的条件下,存在一相应于最大码间干扰限制距离的最佳放大器间距.  相似文献

Coherent underwater communication is hampered by the time spread inherent to acoustic propagation in the ocean. Because time-reversal signal processing produces pulse compression, communications has been suggested as a natural application of the technique. Passive versions of time-reversal processing use a receive-only array to do combined temporal and spatial matched filtering. It can be shown, however, that the pulse compression it achieves is not perfect and that an equalizer that relies solely on time-reversal processing will have an error floor caused by uncompensated intersymbol interference (ISI). In the present paper, a physics-based model is developed for the uncompensated ISI in a passive time-reversal equalizer. The model makes use of a normal-mode expansion for the acoustic field. The matched-filtering integral is approximated and the intermediate result interpreted using the waveguide invariant. After combining across the array and sampling, formal statistical averages of the soft demodulation output are calculated. The results show how performance scales with bandwidth, with the number and position of array elements, and with the length of the finite impulse response matched filters. Good agreement is obtained between the predicted scaling and that observed in field experiments.  相似文献

Multiplex community networks, consisting of several different types of simplex networks and interconnected among them, are ubiquitous in the real world. In this paper, we carry out a quantitative discussion on the interaction among these diverse simplex networks. First, we define two measures, mutual-path-strength and proximity-node-density, based on twoplex community networks and then propose an impact-strength-index (ISI) to describe the influence of a simplex network on the other one. Finally, we apply the measure ISI to make an explanation for the challenge system of social relations from the viewpoint of network theory. Numerical simulations show that the measure ISI can describe the interaction between multiplex community networks perfectly.  相似文献

针对水声滤波器组多载波(Filter Bank MultiCarrier,FBMC)传统均衡方法效率低、复杂度高等问题,提出了单阵元无源时间反转镜(Passive Time Reversal Mirror,PTRM)和虚拟时间反转镜(Virtual Time Reversal Mirror,VTRM)的均衡算法,该算法利用时间聚焦原理可以降低水声信道带来的符号间干扰(Inter Symbol Interference,ISI),并且不需要在FBMC符号中插入导频,进一步提高了通信速率.通过仿真和外场实验验证了水声FBMC系统采用单阵元PTRM和VTRM的有效性,结果表明,这两种均衡方法能够有效减少ISI,提高系统可靠性能。   相似文献

This paper presents an intersymbol interference (ISI) and system noise analysis of the P-SLAM (parallel-sub-lambda) optical data storage system. Data are stored in sub-wavelength features accessed by transmitting light through the structure and collecting optical power measurements in the near-field. The non-linear ISI caused by the interactions of light between these features is characterized using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations. A system noise analysis is also presented that quantifies the effects of imperfections in fabrication and material properties. Previously, the authors proposed a detection scheme that dealt with the non-linear ISI by physically reducing it with air gaps. In this paper a signal processing method, the Viterbi algorithm, is proposed to overcome ISI. A modification is proposed to the Viterbi algorithm that is designed to deal with both the non-linear ISI and system noise. System simulations are used to show the uncoded bit error rate of the system is similar to current technologies. Conservative predictions estimate a data density of 5 Gbits/cm2 for the system which exceeds densities achievable by current optical technologies.  相似文献

A simple method to evaluate the performance of transparent optical networks (TON) that takes into account the incoherent homodyne crosstalk, signal distortion, inter-symbol interference (ISI), amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise, and arbitrary optical and electrical filters is proposed. This method combines the effect of the incoherent homodyne crosstalk with an exhaustive Gaussian approximation for the influence of ASE noise, signal distortion, and ISI. It is shown that the incoherent homodyne crosstalk penalty depends on the ASE noise accumulated in the TON, ISI, and extinction ratio. The proposed method estimates are compared with experimental results published by other authors. Good agreement is observed for one, two, and four incoherent homodyne crosstalk signals, revealing that the proposed method provides accurate estimates even when the methods based on a Gaussian approximation for the incoherent homodyne crosstalk fail. The proposed method is used to assess the performance of a TON composed by optical add-drop multiplexers based on arrayed waveguide gratings. Results reveal that incoherent homodyne crosstalk, ASE noise, and ISI impair the TON performance and, therefore, none can be neglected in the TON design.  相似文献

We have studied the stimulated discharge dynamics of fusimotor neurons by applying the wavelet transform technique and by adopting that the neuronal discharge dynamics is manifested by the random time series of interspike intervals. We found two different power-law type behaviors along interspike intervals (ISI) time scale (which implies existence of two different types of neuronal noise), which are separated by a crossover region. Our results reveal that complex neuronal dynamics, in the presence of external stimulation, is manifested with long-range correlated noise in the region before the crossover, on the ISI time scale.  相似文献

LED照明与可见光通信技术相结合,构建出基于LED可见光无线通信系统。对室内VLC(Visible Light Communication)系统的白光LED光源特性和系统信道模型分析,提出照明光源布局设计与接收光功率分布的关系;对强度调制直接检测方式的室内VLC系统中信噪比和多径效应引起的码间串扰分析,提出采用光分集接收技术克服码间串扰和提高信噪比,并给出光检测器阵列布局的模型。建立VLC系统仿真模型,给出OOK-NRZ (On-Off Keying & Non-Return Zero)和OOK-RZ(On-Off Keying & Return Zero)调制方式的误码率和均方根时延扩展之间的关系曲线。仿真结果表明,接收光功率相同时,均方根时延扩展时间大于1.0 ns时,OOK-RZ特性优于OOK-NRZ。  相似文献

We have studied the discharge dynamics of dorsal horn neurons (DHN) by applying the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and the wavelet transform (WT) technique. We have adopted that discharge dynamics is manifested by the random time series of the interspike intervals (ISI), that is, by intervals between two consecutive neuronal electrical activities. In all cases studied, we found two different power-law type behaviors across ISI enumeration scale, that are separated by a crossover region. Our results reveal that complex neuronal dynamics may change in the presence of external stimulation, which is manifested by changing the noise characteristics that appear before the crossover region (the noise after the crossover region is of the 1/f type).  相似文献

Complex stimuli are used to probe the response properties of the chicken's retinal ganglion cells (GCs). The correlation dimension method and the nonlinear forecasting method are applied to detect the determinism in the firing activities of the retinal GCs during response to complex stimuli. The inter-spike interval (ISI) series and the first difference of the ISI (DISI) series are analysed. Two conclusions are drawn. Firstly, the first difference operation of the ISI series makes it comparatively easier for determinism detection in the firing activities of retinal GCs. Secondly, the nonlinear forecasting method is more efficient and reliable than the correlation dimension method for determinism detection.  相似文献

Loudness recalibration, the effect of a relatively loud 2500-Hz recalibrating tone on the loudness of a relatively soft 2500-Hz target tone, was measured as a function of the interstimulus interval (ISI) between them. The loudness of the target tone, assessed by a 500-Hz comparison tone, declined when the ISI equaled or exceeded about 200 ms and leveled off at an ISI of about 700 ms. Notably, the target tone's loudness did not change significantly at very short ISIs (< 150 ms). The latter result is incompatible with the literature reporting loudness enhancement in this time window, but is compatible with the suggestion made by Scharf, Buus, and Nieder [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 112, 807-810 (2002)] that early measurements of enhancement were contaminated by the influence of the recalibrating tone on the comparison tone when the two shared the same frequency. In a second experiment the frequency of the comparison tone was changed to 2500 Hz and the results of a loudness enhancement paradigm was successfully predicted from the time course of recalibration obtained in experiment 1.  相似文献

点对点移动水声通信是实现由活动和静止节点共同构成的水声数据通信网的关键技术之一. 对移动水声通信声信道特性进行了分析,指出不同途径到达的声线对应的多普勒频偏不一致,进一步加大了多途扩展产生的码间干扰的复杂性,不利于水声通信. 提出单阵元被动式相位共轭镜信道均衡技术,可实时自动补偿多普勒频偏,并聚焦多途信号. 将单阵元被动式相位共轭应用于Pattern时延差编码移动水声通信系统,进行了移动水声通信试验,湖试结果验证了其消除码间干扰性能及本文水声通信系统的鲁棒性. 关键词: 移动水声通信 被动式相位共轭镜 时变信道 码间干扰  相似文献

Tactual vocoders (artificial hearing systems) transduce the acoustic energy of speech into patterns of stimulation that are presented to the skin. In an electrocutaneous tactual vocoder, energy within an acoustic-frequency band is generally represented at a particular skin locus by the rate or frequency of brief electrical pulse bursts. At present little is known about tactual sensitivity for changes in the frequency of brief, bipolar electrical pulses used in several current electrocutaneous vocoder designs. Accordingly, discrimination of frequency change of electrocutaneous bipolar signals was evaluated for standard frequencies of 48, 100, 148, 200, and 248 Hz at signal durations of 50, 100, and 250 ms. Bipolar pulses (height = 10 mA, width = 13 microseconds) were presented on a single electrode placed slightly above and 8 cm to either the left or right of the navel. In a same-different task, three practiced subjects judged pairs of stimuli separated by an interstimulus interval (ISI) of 300 ms. For standard frequencies of 48 and 100 Hz, psychometric functions were similar for all subjects and all signal durations. For these frequencies, delta f/f was constant at approximately 0.3. By contrast, for standard stimuli greater than 100 Hz, the Weber fraction was found to increase dramatically as a function of both standard frequency and signal duration. In a second, similar experiment the Weber fraction for a 248-Hz standard increased as ISI was decreased below 300 ms. By contrast, ISI had little effect on sensitivity for standard stimuli of 48 and 100 Hz. Overall, these results suggest guidelines for possible intensity coding schemes for future electrocutaneous vocoder designs.  相似文献

Sensory systems present environmental information to central nervous system as sequences of action potentials or spikes. How do animals recognize these sequences carrying information about their world? We present a biologically inspired neural circuit designed to enable spike pattern recognition. This circuit is capable of training itself on a given interspike interval (ISI) sequence and is then able to respond to presentations of the same sequence. The essential ingredients of the recognition circuit are (a) a tunable time delay circuit, (b) a spike selection unit, and (c) a tuning mechanism using spike timing dependent plasticity of inhibitory synapses. We have investigated this circuit using Hodgkin-Huxley neuron models connected by realistic excitatory and inhibitory synapses. It is robust in the presence of noise represented as jitter in the spike times of the ISI sequence.  相似文献

本文提出了光码多分址(CDMA)和光密集波分复用(DWDM)的混合系统,全面研究了四波混频(FWM)的影响。在这个系统中,主要存在两个四波混频问题:包括多址干扰(MAI)和码间干扰(ISI)的帧间四波混频和信道内四波混频。结果表明,综合考虑信道间和信道内四波混频的影响,最佳发射功率可选为18 dBm。当发射功率大于18 dBm时,混合系统的误码率(BER)将增加。基于此,本文提出了一种电光相位调制器(EOPM)模块,将其放置在波分复用器之后,通过抑制信道内四波混频的影响,同时调制所有波长信号的相位,从而增加混合系统的非线性容限,这极大地改善了基于OOK传输的光学CDMA-DWDM混合系统的性能。此外,由于多对角线(MD)结构具有零互相关特性,通过使用多对角线识别序列码可以减少多址干扰的影响。结果还表明,CDMA技术与色散相结合有助于降低信道间四波混频的影响。此外,识别序列码间隔在减轻码间干扰中起着至关重要的作用,如结果所示,当识别序列码间隔压缩至比特持续时间的25%时,可以避免码间干扰,此时所提出的混合系统的性能最佳。  相似文献

给出了时域相位光码分多址系统(OCDMA)的噪声模型,提出了由码间串扰(ISI)所引起的自差拍噪声(SB)概念.利用鞍点近似法分析了多址干扰(MAD、码间串扰、自差拍等噪声对系统性能的影响,给出了系统误码率公式.对最佳门限接收系统以及采用光硬件限幅器的系统性能进行了仿真研究.表明"1"码的误判概率是影响系统的决定性因素.也是开关键控(OOK)系统难以克服的主要问题.最后给出一种采用双编/解码器平衡检测系统的原理框图,分析其性能,并与传统OOK系统比较,结果表明其性能有较大的提高.  相似文献
