提出并数值证实利用反馈相位的随机调制可消除外腔半导体激光器反馈引起的时延结构. 研究发现:当反馈相位随机调制信号的速率处在0.1—1 Gbit/s范围,随机调制信号的切换幅值个数达到5时,在半导体激光器偏置电流(1.2—2.8Ith)和反馈速率(8—26 GHz)构成的参数空间中,反馈时延结构对应的外腔长信息可被有效地消除. 关键词: 半导体激光器 外腔长 反馈相位 随机信号调制  相似文献

研究了光栅外腔半导体激光器(ECDL)对射频频率调制的响应特性,分析了射频频率调制时光栅外腔对半导体激光器的边带信号的影响.实验中测量了GHz射频频率调制的.ECDL输出的边带信号随射频信号功率、注入电流、光栅外腔长度的变化情况.证实了当射频调制频率等于光栅外腔自由光谱区的整数倍时,ECDL输出的边带信号可在一定程度上得到增强.  相似文献

研究了镀减反膜GaAs半导体激光器在Littrow 式外腔结构中的输出特性.采用电流补偿技术,得到了约30 GHz的连续无跳模调谐范围.利用外差拍探测技术获得激光器输出线宽约为120 kHz.还研究了激光器的强度噪声分别随着电流与波长变化的特点并对此进行了分析.该类激光器可以广泛应用在冷原子物理、激光光谱以及量子光学等许多领域. 关键词: 减反膜 半导体激光器 线宽 强度噪声  相似文献

在采用磁光阱实现单个铯原子俘获的实验中, 运用无调制偏振光谱方法将光栅外腔半导体激光器(提供冷却/俘获光)的频率锁定在铯原子6S1/2 F=4→6P3/2 F′=5的超精细跃迁线上.采用偏振光谱技术得到的类色散曲线作为鉴频信号, 并同时对光栅外腔半导体激光器的电流调制端口和光栅外腔的压电陶瓷电压调制端口进行反馈, 以拓展反馈环路的带宽, 实现激光器的频率锁定.与通常的饱和吸收光谱稳频技术相比, 激光频率锁定之后的频率稳定度得到了明显改善.在取样时间τ=300 s时, 阿仑方差σy(τ)=4.6×10-12.  相似文献

报道一种用电光晶体实现快速调谐和凋制激光频率的方法.在Littrow型外腔反馈半导体激光中插入LiNbO3晶体,利用LiNbO3晶体的电光效应,通过改变晶体电压来调节激光器的有效腔长,可以对激光频率进行快速的调谐和调制.采用该方法,自制外腔反馈半导体激光器的调谐频率可达到2 kHz,它的调谐范围为350 MHz,激光频率调谐系数约为1.06 MHz/V,用饱和吸收光谱观测频率调谐的效果.快速激光频率调制可以应用在稳频技术上,将外腔反馈半导体激光器调制在5~100 kHz频率下,均获得了87Rb原子D2线的饱和吸收光谱的色散信号,并实现了激光频率在饱和吸收峰上的长期稳定.  相似文献

40K-87Rb原子冷却的半导体激光系统提出了一种实验方案,并进行了初步实验.采用三台外腔光栅反馈半导体激光器(ECDL)、四台注入锁定从激光器和一台半导体激光放大器组成激光系统.三台ECDL通过声光调制器产生四束光,分别作为40K和87Rb原子的冷却光和再抽运光,四束不同频率成分的激光分别注入锁定四台从激光器,然后Rb 冷却光、K冷却光和K再抽运光再同时注入半导体激光放大器进行放大.该装置可同时产生冷却40K和87Rb原子的冷却光和再抽运光,结构紧凑、工作稳定. 关键词: 简并费米气体 激光器系统 外腔光栅反馈半导体激光器 半导体激光放大器  相似文献

提出半导体激光器混沌交叉相位调制(XPM)光反馈提高混沌载波发射机带宽方法,建立了有外腔光纤传输反馈XPM控制下的激光动力学物理模型.理论导出XPM作用下激光双反馈频率失谐公式,指出XPM产生的非线性相移影响了激光器增益和线宽增强因子,其光纤二阶非线性效应使激光振幅和相位变化更加丰富,而非线性相移的出现进一步增加了新的频率分量并使频谱展宽.数值结果表明,XPM使激光器混沌带宽增加到4倍以上,使激光混沌张弛振荡频率增加到2.85倍,其光纤长度、入纤光功率、面镜反射系数、光纤二阶非线性系数等都能影响激光混沌带宽.  相似文献

利用直接电流调制光反馈半导体激光器产生了符合美国联邦通信委员会关于室内无线通信频谱限定的超宽带(UWB)微波信号.基于光反馈半导体激光器速率方程组, 数值分析了偏置电流、反馈强度对混沌UWB脉冲信号的影响.研究表明, 混沌UWB脉冲频谱的-10 dB带宽分别随着偏置电流的增大和反馈强度的增强而逐渐增加; 中心频率分别随着偏置电流的增大和反馈强度的增强而逐渐增大.实验中, 产生了中心频率为6.6 GHz, -10 dB带宽为9.6 GHz的混沌UWB信号. 进一步, 通过调节偏置电流和反馈强度, 可实现混沌UWB信号的中心频率和-10 dB带宽的可调谐输出, 实验结果和数值分析相符合.此外, 实验产生的混沌UWB信号经过34.08 km的光纤传输后, 其频谱形状几乎没有发生变化, 表明该方法所产生的混沌UWB信号对光纤色散有较大的容忍度. 关键词: 超宽带 混沌激光 光反馈 直接调制  相似文献

双光子拉曼过程是一种有效制备和控制原子内态的方法, 在原子内态操控和基于原子的量子信息处理中具有重要意义. 研制用于特定原子的拉曼激光是实现该过程的重要一步. 报道了利用光纤波导相位调制器及滤波器等实现用于铯原子内态操控的拉曼激光的方法, 并成功用于单个铯原子的内态精密操控. 通过4.6 GHz的微波信号源直接驱动波导相位调制器高效地获得光场的调制边带, 并利用自由光谱区为9.19 GHz的法布里-珀罗腔将载波及二阶边带滤掉, 获得了频率精确、相差9.19 GHz的拉曼激光. 经过基于光纤振幅调制器的功率稳定系统, 最终可以获得总功率为73 μupW、长时间内波动为2.2%的拉曼激光束, 并将此光束用于激发单个铯原子, 实现了|6S1/2, F=4, mF=0和|6S1/2, F=3, mF=0 之间的可控拉比操作.  相似文献

采用光学相位锁定环路技术将外腔反馈式半导体激光器锁定到与钛宝石激光器输出激光频率上. 锁定后两束激光的差频线宽从MHz降低到Hz量级, 同时两束激光的频率差可实现几百兆赫兹到7 GHz的精密调节. 锁定的两束激光作用在铷原子玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚的两个基态超精细态F=2, 1, 观测到在两个超精细态之间的拉曼跃迁. 该技术可用于超冷原子两个超精细态之间自旋轨道耦合.  相似文献

Frequency tunable semiconductor laser has potential applications in resonator integrated optic gyro (RIOG) for its small size and easy to be integrated. An alternative construction of frequency tunable semiconductor laser with planar waveguide external cavity is proposed in this paper. The frequency tuning section, which is placed between the active section and Bragg grating section, is designed to be one part of the waveguide external cavity. The slab etched grating, based on the silicon-on-isolator ridge waveguide, is adopted to narrow the width of reflectivity spectrum. After the theoretical analysis and simulations, the frequency modulation coefficient of 2.1 MHz/mA is obtained, and the power change is less than 3.6 × 10−4 dB/1.6 GHz. The proposed configuration combines the advantages of wavelength tunable laser and external cavity laser, and it can realize precision frequency tuning, ignored power fluctuation and narrow linewidth, which contribute much to RIOG.  相似文献

The characteristics of a wavelength tunable vertical cavity surface emitting laser diode (VCSEL) with an external short cavity are analyzed, in which the oscillation wavelength can be changed over several tens of nanometers with a nearly constant optical power by slightly altering the external cavity length. Analysis is based on rate equations for the optical power and carrier density, taking the effect of carrier-induced refractive index change into consideration, together with the study of behaviors of a complex resonator. The reflection coefficient r2 of a laser facet facing the external mirror is shown to affect notably the characteristics of wavelength tuning, optical power and carrier density for a change of the external cavity length. It is also noticed that the wavelength change for this length becomes slower with relatively larger r2 due to an increasing contribution of the effect of carrier-induced refractive index change, within the optical gain spectrum of the laser diode.  相似文献

Abstract

The need for higher sensitive detection technology for trace gas samples, either in the laboratory setup or in the atmospheric remote sensing has been a goal for several decades. The development of the tunable diode laser has propelled the progress of trace detection technology, and modulation technology enables the improvement of the detection sensitivity. As a result, the detection of 10?7 or 10?8 absorbance is possible for some applications, and modulation technology has been applied to the ultraviolet as well as mid-infra red wavelength range. In this review, recent progress of tunable diode lasers and diode laser-based modulation technologies are presented. Wavelength modulation, frequency modulation, and two-tone frequency modulation techniques are mainly described along with the actual application of the techniques. In addition, the state-of-the-art of diode laser development which can be adopted for the trace detection is presented.  相似文献

We report on recent progress on external cavity diode lasers (ECDL) using a new concept of a Littman/Metcalf configuration. Within this concept one facet of the diode laser chip is used for coupling to a high quality Littman/Metcalf resonator whereas the other side of the diode laser chip emits the output beam. The alignment of the external resonator is independent from the alignment of the output beam and there is no need for any compromise in the alignment. This results in an improved behavior of the external resonator with the benefit of a drastic increase in power and single mode tuning.We investigated this light source for high resolution spectroscopy in the field of cw-cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS). The monitoring of environmental and medical gases from vehicles or human breath requires a suitable radiation source in the mid-infrared (MIR) between 3 and 5 μm that is frequency stable and can be widely tuned. Since this wavelength cannot be reached via direct emitting room temperature semiconductor lasers, additional techniques like difference frequency generation (DFG) are essential. Tunable difference frequency generation relies on high power, small linewidth, fast tunable, robust laser diode sources with excellent beam quality.With our new compact, alignment-insensitive and robust ECDL concept, we achieved an output power of 1000 mW and an almost Gaussian shaped beam quality (M2<1.2). The coupling efficiency for optical waveguides as well as single mode fibers exceeds 70%. The wavelength is widely tunable within the tuning range of 20 nm via remote control. This laser system operates longitudinally in single mode with a mode-hop free tuning range of more than 150 GHz without current compensation and a side-mode-suppression better than 50 dB. This concept is currently realized within the wavelength regime between 750 and 1080 nm.Our high powered Littman/Metcalf laser system was part of a MIR-light source which utilizes DFG in periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystals. At the wavelength of 3.3 μm we were able to achieve a high-resolution absorption spectrum of water with four different isotoplogues of H2O components. 提出并研究了一种使用单光源的光纤无线双向传输系统.该系统只需在中心站配置一个可调谐激光器,以产生频率恒定的激光光源,通过综合光学调制(频率调制、强度调制)技术将基带信号调制到光载波上,最终形成60 GHz毫米波下行信号|同时,相同的光载波在基站被重用,作为上行链路传输光源.系统结合光载波重用技术和综合调制技术特点,合理利用资源,基站结构更为简化.仿真结果表明,该系统可以将速率达2.5 Gbit/s的数据在单模光纤中双向传输20 km,功率代价小于0.5 dB,相对已有的技术方案,该传输系统在传输功率、传输距离、传输性能方面具有明显优势.  相似文献

A computer controlled tunable mid-IR light source, based on single resonant difference frequency generation (DFG), is experimentally investigated. The DFG process is pumped by an external cavity tapered diode laser, tunable over a spectral range of 30 nm. Grating feedback to the single mode channel of the tapered diode narrows the spectrum and allows for tuning of the emitted spectrum in the range from 780 to 810 nm. The DFG process takes place intra-cavity in a high finesse diode pumped 1064 nm solid state Nd:YVO4 laser cavity, using periodically poled LiNbO3 as the nonlinear material. Based on this new approach, a tunable single-frequency output power exceeding 3 mW was obtained in the mid-IR tuning range from 2.9 to 3.4 ??m.  相似文献

A novel method of simultaneous realization of optical carrier-suppression and single-sideband modulation using fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter is presented. In order to enhance transmission performance of radio over fiber links, we use a fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter to filter out one sideband as well as suppress the optical carrier power. The results demonstrate 20.5dB and 14.2dB improvement in the signal noise ratios when 18GHz and 10GHz microwave signals carrying 5Mbit/s quadrature-phase-shift-keyed (QPSK) format data is transmitted over 35 km single mode fiber, respectively.  相似文献

报道了光纤光栅外腔激光器瞬态特性的理论分析,引入了一个适用于外腔情况的等效光子寿命,模拟计算表明,要获得高于2.5GHz的调制速率,光纤光栅外腔的长度必须短于4cm范围,对所研制的光纤光栅外腔激光器进行了高频调制测量,得到了在1GHz下的单模激光输出,边模抑制比在40dB以上,3dB动态线宽为0.1nm左右,20dB动态线宽为0.3nm。  相似文献
