The reaction of 2-(hydroxyethyl)pyridine (hepH) with a 2:1 molar mixture of [Mn3O(O2CMe)6(py)3]ClO4 and [Mn3O(O2CMe)6(py)3] in MeCN afforded the new mixed-valent (16Mn(III), 2Mn(II)), octadecanuclear complex [Mn18O14(O2CMe)18(hep)4(hepH)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (1) in 20% yield. Complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P. Direct current magnetic susceptibility studies in a 1.0 T field in the 5.0-300 K range, and variable-temperature variable-field dc magnetization studies in the 2.0-4.0 K and 2.0-5.0 T ranges were obtained on polycrystalline samples. Fitting of magnetization data established that complex 1 possesses a ground-state spin of S = 13 and D = -0.18 K. This was confirmed by the value of the in-phase ac magnetic susceptibility signal. Below 3 K, the complex exhibits a frequency-dependent drop in the in-phase signal, and a concomitant increase in the out-of-phase signal, consistent with slow magnetization relaxation on the ac time scale. This suggests the complex is a single-molecule magnet (SMM), and this was confirmed by hysteresis loops below 1 K in magnetization versus dc field sweeps on a single crystal. Alternating current and direct current magnetization data were combined to yield an Arrhenius plot from which was obtained the effective barrier (U(eff)) for magnetization reversal of 21.3 K. Below 0.2 K, the relaxation becomes temperature-independent, consistent with relaxation only by quantum tunneling of the magnetization (QTM) through the anisotropy barrier via the lowest-energy MS = +/-13 levels of the S = 13 spin manifold. Complex 1 is thus the SMM with the largest ground-state spin to display QTM. 相似文献

The geometrical structures, charge distributions, dipole moments, frequencies of normal vibrations, NMR spectra, and total energies of the chemical bonds for the rhenium alkoxo derivatives Re2O3(OMe)6, Re4O6(OMe)12, and ReMoO2(OMe)7 were calculated by the DFT-B3LYP and Hartree-Fock ab initio methods based on the effective core potential theory (LANL2DZ approximation) and the semiempirical PM3(tm) method. Two optimized structures of Re2O3(OMe)6 with close energies were found to substantially differ in geometry, 1H, 13C, and 117O NMR spectra, and dipole moment. Various characteristics of the electronic structures and the trans-effect of the ligands in the compounds under consideration were discussed. 相似文献

Solid-state decomposition of [V3O(O2CPh)6(H2O)3]Cl at 300 degrees C followed by alcoholysis of the product gives the new vanadium complexes [V6O6(PhCO2)6(CH3O)6(CH3OH)3] (1), [V6O6(PhCO2)6(C2H5O)6(C2H5OH)3] (2), [V6O6(PhCO2)6(C3H7O)6(C3H7OH)3] (3), [V6O6(PhCO2)6(C4H9O)6(C4H9OH)3] (4) and [V4O4(OCH3)6(O2CPh)2(HOCH3)2] (5). Complexes 2, 3 and 5 have been crystallographically characterised. DC magnetic susceptibility studies on complex shows antiferromagnetic coupling leading to a S = 0 spin ground state. 相似文献

A new synthetic procedure has been developed in Mn cluster chemistry involving reductive aggregation of permanganate (MnO4-) ions in MeOH in the presence of benzoic acid, and the first products from its use are described. The reductive aggregation of NBu(n)4MnO4 in MeOH/benzoic acid gave the new 4Mn(IV), 8Mn(III) anion [Mn12O12(OMe)2(O2CPh)16(H2O)2]2-, which was isolated as a mixture of two crystal forms (NBu(n)4)2[Mn12O12(OMe)2(O2CPh)16(H2O)2].2H2O.4CH2Cl2 (1a) and (NBu(n)4)2[Mn12O12(OMe)2(O2CPh)16(H2O)2].2H2O.CH2Cl2 (1b). The anion of 1 contains a central [Mn(IV)4(mu3-O)2(mu-O)2(mu-OMe)2]6+ unit surrounded by a nonplanar ring of eight Mn(III) atoms that are connected to the central Mn4 unit by eight bridging mu3-O2- ions. This compound is very similar to the well-known [Mn12O12(O2CR)16(H2O)4] complexes (hereafter called "normal Mn12"), with the main difference being the structure of the central cores. Longer reaction times (approximately 2 weeks) led to isolation of polymeric [Mn(OMe)(O2CPh)2]n2, which contains a linear chain of repeating [Mn(III)(mu-O2CPh)2(mu-OMe)Mn(III)] units. The chains are parallel to each other and interact weakly through pi-stacking between the benzoate rings. When KMnO4 was used instead of NBu(n)4MnO4, two types of compounds were obtained, [Mn12O12(O2CPh)16(H2O)4] (3), a normal Mn12 complex, and [Mn4O2(O2CPh)8(MeOH)4].2MeOH (4.2MeOH), a new member of the Mn4 butterfly family. The cyclic voltammogram of 1 exhibits three irreversible processes, two reductions and one oxidation. One-electron reduction of 1 by treatment with 1 equiv of I- in CH2Cl2 gave (NBu(n)4[Mn12O12(O2CPh)16(H2O)3].6CH2Cl2 (5.6CH2Cl2), a normal Mn12 complex in a one-electron reduced state. The variable-temperature magnetic properties of 1, 2, and 5 were studied by both direct current (dc) and alternating current (ac) magnetic susceptibility measurements. Variable-temperature dc magnetic susceptibility studies revealed that (i) complex 1 possesses an S = 6 ground state, (ii) complex 2 contains antiferromagnetically coupled chains, and (iii) complex 5 is a typical [Mn12]- cluster with an S = 19/2 ground state. Variable-temperature ac susceptibility measurements suggested that 5 and both isomeric forms of 1 (1a,b) are single-molecule magnets (SMMs). This was confirmed by the observation of hysteresis loops in magnetization vs dc field scans. In addition, 1a,b, like normal Mn12 clusters, display both faster and slower relaxing magnetization dynamics that are assigned to the presence of Jahn-Teller isomerism. 相似文献

[(n‐Bu)2Sn(O2PPh2)2] ( 1 ), and [Ph2Sn(O2PPh2)2] ( 2 ) have been synthesized by the reactions of R2SnCl2 (R=n‐Bu, Ph) with HO2PPh2 in Methanol. From the reaction of Ph2SnCl2 with diphenylphosphinic acid a third product [PhClSn(O2PPh2)OMe]2 ( 3 ) could be isolated. X‐ray diffraction studies show 1 to crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 1303.7(1) pm, b = 2286.9(2) pm, c = 1063.1(1) pm, β = 94.383(6)°, and Z = 4. 2 crystallizes triclinic in the space group , the cell parameters being a = 1293.2(2) pm, b = 1478.5(4) pm, c = 1507.2(3) pm, α = 98.86(3)°, β = 109.63(2)°, γ = 114.88(2)°, and Z = 2. Both compounds form arrays of eight‐membered rings (SnOPO)2 linked at the tin atoms to form chains of infinite length. The dimer 3 consists of a like ring, in which the tin atoms are bridged by methoxo groups. It crystallizes triclinic in space group with a = 946.4(1) pm, b = 963.7(1) pm, c = 1174.2(1) pm, α = 82.495(6)°, β = 66.451(6)°, γ = 74.922(6)°, and Z = 1 for the dimer. The Raman spectra of 2 and 3 are given and discussed. 相似文献

Single crystals of [Be3(μ3‐O)3(MeCN)6{Be(MeCN)3}3](I)6·4CH3CN ( 1 ·4CH3CN) were obtained in low yield by the reaction of beryllium powder with iodine in acetonitrile suspension, which probably result from traces of beryllium oxide containing the applied beryllium metal. The compound 1 ·4CH3CN forms moisture sensitive, colourless crystal needles, which were characterized by IR spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction (Space group Pnma, Z = 4, lattice dimensions at 100(2) K: a = 2317.4(1), b = 2491.4(1), c = 1190.6(1) pm, R1 = 0.0315). The hexaiodide complex cation 1 6+consists of a cyclo‐Be3O3 core with slightly distorted chair conformation, stabilized by coordination of two acetonitrile ligands at each of the beryllium atoms and by a {Be(CH3CN)3}2+ cation at each of the oxygen atoms. This unique coordination behaviour results in coplanar OBe3 units with short Be–O distances of 155.0 pm and 153.6 pm on average of bond lengths within the cyclo‐Be3O3 unit and of the peripheric BeO bonds, respectively. Exposure of compound 1 ·4CH3CN to moist air leads to small orange crystal plates of [Be(H2O)4]I2·2CH3CN ( 3 ·2CH3CN). According to the crystal structure determination (Space group C2/c, Z = 4, lattice dimensions at 100(2) K: a = 1220.7(1), b = 735.0(1), c = 1608.5(1) pm, β = 97.97(1)°, R1 = 0.0394), all hydrogen atoms of the dication [Be(H2O)4]2+ are involved to form O–H ··· N and O–H ··· I hydrogen bonds with the acetonitrile molecules and the iodide ions, respectively. Quantum chemical calculations (B3LYP/6‐311+G**) at the model [Be3(μ3‐O)3(HCN)6{Be(HCN)3}3]6+ show that chair and boat conformation are stable and that the distorted chair conformation is stabilized by packing effects. 相似文献

The title compound is formed by controlled hydrolytic polymerization in nonaqueous solution of simple oxo-bridged binuclear ferric salts under the presence of carboxylate ligands. The rhombohedral crystalline form of the cluster with six imidazole molecules, which has crystallographically required C3y symmetry, will be reported. The largest Fe—Fe distance in the undecairon oxo-hydroxo cluster is about 0.68 nm and the cluster has a diameter near 2 nm, which implies that this cluster reach- a nanometer-sized dimension. 相似文献

The reaction of (NBu(n)(4))[Mn(8)O(6)Cl(6)(O(2)CPh)(7)(H(2)O)(2)] (1) with 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine (hmpH) or 2-(hydroxyethyl)pyridine (hepH) gives the Mn(II)(2)Mn(III)(10) title compounds [Mn(12)O(8)Cl(4)(O(2)CPh)(8)(hmp)(6)] (2) and [Mn(12)O(8)Cl(4)(O(2)CPh)(8)(hep)(6)] (3), respectively, with X = Cl. Subsequent reaction of 3 with HBr affords the Br(-) analogue [Mn(12)O(8)Br(4)(O(2)CPh)(8)(hep)(6)] (4). Complexes 2.2Et(2)O.4CH(2)Cl(2), 3.7CH(2)Cl(2), and 4.2Et(2)O.1.4CH(2)Cl(2) crystallize in the triclinic space group P1, monoclinic space group C2/c, and tetragonal space group I4(1)/a, respectively. Complexes 2 and 3 represent a new structural type, possessing isomeric [Mn(III)(10)Mn(II)(2)O(16)Cl(2)] cores but with differing peripheral ligation. Complex 4 is essentially isostructural with 3. A magnetochemical investigation of complex 2 reveals an S = 6 or 7 ground state and frequency-dependent out-of-phase signals in ac susceptibility studies that establish it as a new class of single-molecule magnet. These signals occur at temperatures higher than those observed for all previously reported single-molecule magnets that are not derived from [Mn(12)O(12)(O(2)CR)(16)(H(2)O)(x)]. A detailed investigation of forms of complex 2 with different solvation levels reveals that the magnetic properties of 2 are extremely sensitive to the latter, emphasizing the importance to the single-molecule magnet properties of interstitial solvent molecules in the samples. In contrast, complexes 3 and 4 are low-spin molecules with an S = 0 ground state. 相似文献

Crystal Structure of (NMe4)2[Re3Br11(H2O)] [Re3Br9(H2O)3](H2O)2 . (NMe4)2[Re3Br11(H2O)] [Re3Br9(H2O)3](H2O)2 crystallizes from hydrobromic acid solution of Re3Br9 · 2 H2O and NMe4Br at 0 – 5°C. The crystal structure (monoclinic; P21/m (Nr. 11); a = 967.9(3); b = 1 529.7(4); c = 1 710.9(4) pm; β = 91.66(2)°; Z = 2; R = 0.113; Rw = 0.068) has been determined from four-circle diffractometer data. The preparation and properties of [Mn(4)O(3)(O(2)CPh-R)(4)(dbm)(3)] (R = H, p-Me, p-OMe, and o-Cl; dbm(-) is the anion of dibenzoylmethane) single-molecule magnets (SMMs) with virtual C(S) symmetry are reported. They were prepared by controlled potential electrolysis in 26-80% yields. The structures comprise a distorted-cubane core of virtual C(S) symmetry, in contrast to the other, more common complexes of this type with virtual C(3)(V) symmetry. Solid-state magnetic susceptibility data establish the complexes have S = 9/2 ground-state spins, and ac susceptibility studies indicate they are single-molecule magnets (SMMs). Magnetization vs dc field sweeps below 1.00 K reveal hysteresis loops confirming a SMM, with a very large step at zero applied field diagnostic of fast quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM) through the anisotropy barrier. The fast QTM rate suggested a significant rhombic ZFS parameter E, as expected from the low (virtual C(S)) symmetry. This was confirmed by high-frequency electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy on polycrystalline and single-crystal studies. The results confirm the importance of symmetry on the QTM rates. 相似文献

The three novel, multi-nickel-substituted heteropolytungstates [Ni(6)As(3)W(24)O(94)(H(2)O)(2)](17)(-) (1), [Ni(3)Na(H(2)O)(2)(AsW(9)O(34))(2)](11)(-) (2), and [Ni(4)Mn(2)P(3)W(24)O(94)(H(2)O)(2)](17)(-) (3) have been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, electrochemistry, and magnetic studies. Single-crystal X-ray analysis was carried out on Na(16.5)Ni(0.25)[Ni(6)As(3)W(24)O(94)(H(2)O)(2)].54H(2)O, which crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P1, with a = 17.450(4) A, b = 17.476(4) A, c = 22.232(4) A, alpha = 85.73(3) degrees, beta = 89.74(3) degrees, gamma = 84.33(3) degrees, and Z = 2, Na(11)[Ni(3)Na(H(2)O)(2)(AsW(9)O(34))(2)].30.5H(2)O, which crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P1, with a = 12.228(2) A, b = 16.743(3) A, c = 23.342(5) A, alpha = 78.50(3) degrees, beta = 80.69(3) degrees, gamma = 78.66(3) degrees, and Z = 2, and Na(17)[Ni(4)Mn(2)P(3)W(24)O(94)(H(2)O)(2)].50.5H(2)O, which crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/c, with a = 17.540(4) A, b = 22.303(5) A, c = 35.067(7) A, beta = 95.87(3) A, and Z = 4. Polyanion 1 consists of two B-alpha-(Ni(3)AsW(9)O(40)) Keggin moieties linked via a unique AsW(6)O(16) fragment, leading to a banana-shaped structure with C(2)(v)() symmetry. The mixed-metal tungstophosphate 3 is isostructural with 1. Polyanion 2 consists of two lacunary B-alpha-[AsW(9)O(34)](9)(-) Keggin moieties linked via three nickel(II) centers and a sodium ion. Electrochemical studies show that 1-3 exhibit a unique and reproducible voltammetric pattern and that all three compounds are stable in a large pH range. An investigation of the magnetic properties of 1-3 indicates that the exchange interactions within the trimetal clusters are ferromagnetic. However, for 1 and 3 intra- and intermolecular interactions between different trinuclear clusters are also present. 相似文献

Site-selective carboxylate abstraction has been achieved from [Mn(12)O(12)(O(2)CR)(16)(H(2)O)(4)] complexes by treatment with HNO(3) in MeCN. The reaction of the R = Ph or CH(2)Bu(t)() complexes with 4 equiv of HNO(3) gives [Mn(12)O(12)(NO(3))(4)(O(2)CR)(12)(H(2)O)(4)] (R = CH(2)Bu(t) (6) or Ph (7)) in analytical purity. Complex 6.MeNO(2) crystallizes in monoclinic space group C2/c with the following cell parameters at -168 degrees C: a = 21.280(5), b = 34.430(8), c = 33.023(8) A, beta = 104.61(1) degrees, V = 23413 A, and Z = 8. The four NO(3)(-) groups are not disordered and are bound in bridging modes at axial positions formerly occupied by bridging carboxylate groups. (1)H NMR spectroscopy in CD(2)Cl(2) and CDCl(3) shows retention of the solid-state structure on dissolution in these solvents. DC magnetic susceptibility (chi(M)) and magnetization (M) studies have been carried out in the 2.00-300 K and 1.0-7.0 T ranges. Fits of M/Nmu(B) versus H/T plots gave S = 10, g = 1.92, and D = -0.40 cm(-1), where D is the axial zero-field splitting parameter. AC magnetic susceptibility studies on 6 have been performed in the 1.70-10.0 K range in a 3.5 Oe field oscillating at frequencies up to 1500 Hz. Out-of-phase magnetic susceptibility (chi(M)' ') signals were observed in the 4.00-8.00 K range which were frequency-dependent. Thus, 6 displays the slow magnetization relaxation diagnostic of a single-molecule magnet (SMM). The data were fit to the Arrhenius law, and this gave the effective barrier to relaxation (U(eff)) of 50.0 cm(-1) (72.0 K) and a pre-exponential (1/tau(0)) of 1.9 x 10(8) s(-1). Complex 6 also shows hysteresis in magnetization versus DC field scans, and the hysteresis loops show steps at regular intervals of magnetic field, the diagnostic evidence of field-tuned quantum tunneling of magnetization. High-frequency EPR (HFEPR) spectroscopy on oriented crystals of complex 6 shows resonances assigned to transitions between zero-field split M(s) states of the S = 10 ground state. Fitting of the data gave S = 10, g = 1.99, D = -0.46 cm(-1), and B(4)(0) = -2.0 x 10(-5), where B(4)(0) is the quartic zero-field coefficient. The combined results demonstrate that replacement of four carboxylate groups with NO(3)(-) groups leads to insignificant perturbation of the magnetic properties of the Mn(12) complex. Complex 6 should now be a useful starting point for further reactivity studies, taking advantage of the good leaving group properties of the NO(3)(-) ligands. 相似文献
