We present the problematic of controlling the discreteness effects in cosmological N-body simulations. We describe a perturbative treatment which gives an approximation describing the evolution under self-gravity of a lattice perturbed from its equilibrium, which allows to trace the evolution of the fully discrete distribution until the time when particles approach one another (“shell-crossing”). Perturbed lattices are typical initial conditions for cosmological N-body simulations and thus we can describe precisely the early time evolution of these simulations. A quantitative comparison with fluid Lagrangian theory permits to study discreteness effects in the linear regime of the simulations. We show finally some work in progress about quantifying discreteness effects in the non-perturbative (highly non-linear) regime of cosmological N-body simulations by evolving different discretizations of the same continuous density field.  相似文献

This paper proposes an approach for detecting unstable periodic orbits embedded in chaotic systems by using the simplex method. The simplex algorithm is easily implemented and does not require the derivatives of the function to be optimized. As a result, it is also applicable to chaotic systems with discontinuities or in which functions contain noise.  相似文献

We consider the problem of initial conditions that lead to the intersection of a satellite orbit with planetocentric sphere of a radius R. The problem is considered in frame of the satellite version of the double-averaged restricted three body problem with taking into account gravitational perturbations caused by the polar oblateness of the planet. For some integrable cases we provide the boundaries of the manifolds of the initial orbital elements leading (or not leading) to the intersection of the satellite orbit with the planet surface.  相似文献

This paper describes components of a branch-and-cut algorithm for solving integer linear programs having a large symmetry group. It describes an isomorphism pruning algorithm and variable setting procedures using orbits of the symmetry group. Pruning and orbit computations are performed by backtracking procedures using a Schreier-Sims table for representing the symmetry group. A theorem of J. Silverman states that a forward orbit of a rational map φ(z) on P1(K) contains finitely many S-integers in the number field K when (φ°φ)(z) is not a polynomial. We state an analogous conjecture for the backward orbits using a general S-integrality notion based on the Galois conjugates of points. This conjecture is proven for the map φ(z)=zd, and consequently Chebyshev polynomials, by uniformly bounding the number of Galois orbits for znβ when β≠0 is a non-root of unity. In general, our conjecture is true provided that the number of Galois orbits for φn(z)−β is bounded independently of n.  相似文献

In the reduced phase space by rotation, we prove the existence of periodic orbits of the n-vortex problem emanating from a relative equilibrium formed by n unit vortices at the vertices of a regular polygon, both in the plane and at a fixed latitude when the ideal fluid moves on the surface of a sphere. In the case of a plane we also prove the existence of such periodic orbits in the (n + 1)-vortex problem, where an additional central vortex of intensity κ is added to the ring of the polygonal configuration.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to prove two unexpected properties of the Abel equation dz/dt=z3+B(t)z2+C(t)z, where B and C are smooth, 2π-periodic complex valuated functions, tR and zC. The first one is that there is no upper bound for its number of isolated 2π-periodic solutions. In contrast, recall that if the functions B and C are real valuated then the number of complex 2π-periodic solutions is at most three. The second property is that there are examples of the above equation with B and C being low degree trigonometric polynomials such that the center variety is formed by infinitely many connected components in the space of coefficients of B and C. This result is also in contrast with the characterization of the center variety for the examples of Abel equations dz/dt=A(t)z3+B(t)z2 studied in the literature, where the center variety is located in a finite number of connected components.  相似文献

The problem of classifying finite projective planes of order n with an automorphism group G and a point orbit on which G acts two-transitively is investigated in considerable detail, under the assumption that has length at last n. Combining old and new results a rather satisfying classification is obtained, even though some cases for orbit lengths n and n + 1 remain unsolved.  相似文献
