Trace Formulas for Some Singular Differential Operators and Applications

We characterize the convergence of the series ∑ λ^–1_n, where λⁿ are the non‐zero eigenvalues of some boundary value problems for degenerate second order ordinary differential operators and we prove a formula for the above sum when the coefficient of the zero‐order term vanishes. We study these operators both in weighted Hilbert spaces and in spaces of continuous functions. After investigating the boundary behaviour of the eigenfunctions, we give applications to the regularity of the generated semigroups.     

Topological Structure of the Set of Weighted Composition Operators on Weighted Bergman Spaces of Infinite Order

We consider the topological space of all weighted composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces of infinite order endowed with the operator norm. We show that the set of compact weighted composition operators is path connected. Furthermore, we find conditions to ensure that two weighted composition operators are in the same path connected component if the difference of them is compact. Moreover, we compare the topologies induced by L(H^∞) and L(H^∞_v) on the space of bounded composition operators and give a sufficient condition for a composition operator to be isolated.     

Weighted Composition Operators between Different Hardy Spaces

Let and be two analytic functions defined on such that. The operator given by is called a weighted composition operator. In this paper we deal with the boundedness, compactness, weak compactness, and complete continuity of weighted composition operators from a Hardy space H _p into another Hardy space H _q . We apply these results to study composition operators on Hardy spaces of a half-plane. Submitted: November 20, 2001.     

Weighted Composition Operators from H ∞ to the Bloch Space of a Bounded Homogeneous Domain

Let D be a bounded homogeneous domain in ℂ ⁿ . In this paper, we study the bounded and the compact weighted composition operators mapping the Hardy space H ^∞(D) into the Bloch space of D. We characterize the bounded weighted composition operators, provide operator norm estimates, and give sufficient conditions for compactness. We prove that these conditions are necessary in the case of the unit ball and the polydisk. We then show that if D is a bounded symmetric domain, the bounded multiplication operators from H ^∞(D) to the Bloch space of D are the operators whose symbol is bounded.     

The Dirichlet problem for non‐divergence parabolic equations with discontinuous in time coefficients

We consider the Dirichlet problem for non‐divergence parabolic equation with discontinuous in t coefficients in a half space. The main result is weighted coercive estimates of solutions in anisotropic Sobolev spaces. We give an application of this result to linear and quasi‐linear parabolic equations in a bounded domain. In particular, if the boundary is of class C^1,δ , δ ∈ [0, 1], then we present a coercive estimate of solutions in weighted anisotropic Sobolev spaces, where the weight is a power of the distance to the boundary (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Composition Operators on Weighted Bergman–Orlicz Spaces on the Ball

We give embedding theorems for weighted Bergman–Orlicz spaces on the ball and then apply our results to the study of the boundedness and the compactness of composition operators in this context. As one of the motivations of this work, we show that there exist some weighted Bergman–Orlicz spaces, different from H ^∞, on which every composition operator is bounded.     

Existence of solutions for some non‐Fredholm integro‐differential equations with the bi‐Laplacian

We prove the existence of solutions for some semilinear elliptic equations in the appropriate H⁴ spaces using the fixed‐point technique where the elliptic equation contains fourth‐order differential operators with and without Fredholm property, generalizing the previous results.     

Differences of Composition Operators between Weighted Banach Spaces of Holomorphic Functions on the Unit Polydisk

We consider differences of composition operators between given weighted Banach spaces H ^∞ _v or H ⁰ _v of analytic functions defined on the unit polydisk D ^N with weighted sup-norms and give estimates for the distance of these differences to the space of compact operators. We also study boundedness and compactness of the operators. This paper is an extension of [6] where the one-dimensional case is treated. Received: May 15, 2007. Revised: October 8, 2007.     

Algebras of Approximation Sequences: Finite Sections of Band-Dominated Operators

We develop the stability theory for the finite section method for general band-dominated operators on l ^p spaces over Z ^k . The main result says that this method is stable if and only if each member of a whole family of operators – the so-called limit operators of the method – is invertible and if the norms of these inverses are uniformly bounded.     

Norm-attaining weighted composition operators on weighted Banach spaces of analytic functions

We investigate weighted composition operators that attain their norm on weighted Banach spaces of holomorphic functions on the unit disc of type H ^∞. Applications for composition operators on weighted Bloch spaces are given.     

Composition operators on weighted Dirichlet spaces

We characterize bounded and compact composition operators on weighted Dirichlet spaces. The method involves integral averages of the determining function for the operator, and the connection between composition operators on Dirichlet spaces and Toeplitz operators on Bergman spaces. We also present several examples and counter-examples that point out the borderlines of the result and its connections to other themes.

     

Composition operators between Bergman and Hardy spaces

We study composition operators between weighted Bergman spaces. Certain growth conditions for generalized Nevanlinna counting functions of the inducing map are shown to be necessary and sufficient for such operators to be bounded or compact. Particular choices for the weights yield results on composition operators between the classical unweighted Bergman and Hardy spaces.

     

The maximal conjugate and Hilbert operators on real Hardy spaces

Summary We prove that the maximal conjugate and Hilbert operators are not bounded from the real Hardy space H¹ to L¹, where the underlying spaces may be over T or R. We also draw corollaries for the corresponding spaces over T² and R².     

Bounded symbols and Reproducing Kernel Thesis for truncated Toeplitz operators

Compressions of Toeplitz operators to coinvariant subspaces of H² are called truncated Toeplitz operators. We study two questions related to these operators. The first, raised by Sarason, is whether boundedness of the operator implies the existence of a bounded symbol; the second is the Reproducing Kernel Thesis. We show that in general the answer to the first question is negative, and we exhibit some classes of spaces for which the answers to both questions are positive.     

Essential norm of the difference of weighted composition operators

We study differences of weighted composition operators between weighted Banach spaces H _ν ^∞ of analytic functions with weighted sup-norms and give an expression for the essential norm of these differences. We apply our result to estimate the essential norm of differences of composition operators acting on Bloch-type spaces. Approximation gewisser Operatoren durch Operatoren endlichen Ranges und eine Kollokationsmethode

Summary Certain bounded linear operators from Hilbert spaces H into function spaces C(X) are approximated by operators of finite rank with the aid of orthogonal projections. As examples for such operators we present special integral operators and linear partial differential operators. As application we consider a collocation method.     

Norms of composition operators on weighted Hardy spaces

The norm of a bounded composition operator induced by a disc automorphism is estimated on weighted Hardy spaces H ²(β) in which the classical Hardy space is continuously embedded. The estimate obtained is accurate in the sense that it provides the exact norm for particular instances of the sequence β. As a by-product of our results, an estimate for the norm of any bounded composition operator on H ²(β) is obtained.     

Properties of representations of operators acting between spaces of vector-valued functions

A well-known result going back to the 1930s states that all bounded linear operators mapping scalar-valued L ¹-spaces into L ^∞-spaces are kernel operators and that in fact this relation induces an isometric isomorphism between the space of such operators and the space of all bounded kernels. We extend this result to the case of spaces of vector-valued functions. A recent result due to Arendt and Thomaschewski states that the local operators acting on L ^p -spaces of functions with values in separable Banach spaces are precisely the multiplication operators. We extend this result to non-separable dual spaces. Moreover, we relate positivity and other order properties of the operators to corresponding properties of the representations.     

Convolution Operators on Discrete Hardy Spaces

We establish the connection between the boundedness of convolution operators on H^p(ℝ^N) and some related operators on H^p(ℤ^N). The results we obtain here extend the already known for L^p spaces with p > 1. We also study similar results for maximal operators given by convolution with the dilation of a fixed kernel. Our main tools are some known results about functions of exponential type already presented in [BC1] that, in particular, allow us to prove a sampling theorem for functions of exponential type belonging to Hardy spaces
