In this paper we prove that an elementary Abelian p-group of rank 4p−2 is not a CI(2)-group, i.e. there exists a 2-closed transitive permutation group containing two non-conjugate regular elementary Abelian p-subgroups of rank 4p−2, see Hirasaka and Muzychuk (J. Comb. Theory Ser. A 94(2), 339–362, 2001). It was shown in Hirasaka and Muzychuk (loc cit) and Muzychuk (Discrete Math. 264(1–3), 167–185, 2003) that this is related to the problem of determining whether an elementary Abelian p-group of rank n is a CI-group. As a strengthening of this result we prove that an elementary Abelian p-group E of rank greater or equal to 4p−2 is not a CI-group, i.e. there exist two isomorphic Cayley digraphs over E whose corresponding connection sets are not conjugate in Aut E. In this paper, we determine the residues at poles of standard intertwining operators for parabolically induced representations of an arbitrary connected reductive quansisplit algebraic group over a p-acid field whenever the unipotent radical of the parabolic subgroup is Abelian. For a prime p, we denote by Bn the cyclic group of order pn. Let φ be a faithful irreducible character of Bn, where p is an odd prime. We study the p-group G containing Bn such that the induced character φG is also irreducible. Let n be an integer with |n| > 1. If p is the smallest prime factor of |n|, we prove that a minimal non-commutative n-insertive ring contains n 4 elements and these rings have five (2p+4) isomorphic classes for p = 2 (p ≠ 2). In 1960, Baumslag, following up on work of Cernikov for the 1940s, proved that a hypercentral p-group G with G = G p is a divisible Abelian group. In this article, we provide an interesting generalization of this 45 year old result: If a hypercentral p-group G satisfies |G:G p |<∞ (of course, it contains G = G p ), there exists a normal divisible Abelian subgroup D such that |G:D|<∞.  相似文献

We prove the following theorem: Any abelian p-group is an n-Σ-group which is a strong ω-elongation of a totally projective group by a p ω+n -projective group precisely when it is totally projective. In particular, each p-torsion p ω+n -projective n-Σ-group is a direct sum of countable p-groups of length not exceeding ω + n and vice versa. The nth Bell number Bn is the number of ways to partition a set of n elements into nonempty subsets. We generalize the “trace formula” of Barsky and Benzaghou [1], which asserts that for an odd prime p and an appropriate constant τp, the relation Bn=-Tr(n-1-τp)Bτp holds in , where is a root of and is the trace form. We deduce some new interesting congruences for the Bell numbers, generalizing miscellaneous well-known results including those of Radoux [4].  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the minimality of the map from the Euclidean unit ball Bn to its boundary 핊n−1 for weighted energy functionals of the type Ep,f = ∫Bn f(r)‖∇ up dx, where f is a non-negative function. We prove that in each of the two following cases:
i)  p = 1 and f is non-decreasing,
ii)  p is integer, pn−1 and f = rα with α ≥ 0, the map minimizes Ep,f among the maps in W1,p(Bn, 핊n−1) which coincide with on ∂ Bn. We also study the case where f(r) = rα with −n+2 < α < 0 and prove that does not minimize Ep,f for α close to −n+2 and when n ≥ 6, for α close to 4−n.

In the present paper, for any finite group G of Lie type (except for 2 F 4(q)), the order a(G) of its large Abelian subgroup is either found or estimated from above and from below (the latter is done for the groups F 4 (q), E 6 (q), E 7 (q), E 8 (q), and 2 E 6(q 2)). In the groups for which the number a(G) has been found exactly, any large Abelian subgroup coincides with a large unipotent or a large semisimple Abelian subgroup. For the groups F 4 (q), E 6 (q), E 7 (q), E 8 (q), and 2 E 6(q 2)), it is shown that if an Abelian subgroup contains a noncentral semisimple element, then its order is less than the order of an Abelian unipotent group. Hence in these groups the large Abelian subgroups are unipotent, and in order to find the value of a(G) for them, it is necessary to find the orders of the large unipotent Abelian subgroups. Thus it is proved that in a finite group of Lie type (except for 2 F 4(q))) any large Abelian subgroup is either a large unipotent or a large semisimple Abelian subgroup.  相似文献

This paper considers some random processes of the form X n+1=T X n +B n (mod p) where B n and X n are random variables over (ℤ/pℤ) d and T is a fixed d×d integer matrix which is invertible over the complex numbers. For a particular distribution for B n , this paper improves results of Asci to show that if T has no complex eigenvalues of length 1, then for integers p relatively prime to det (T), order (log p)2 steps suffice to make X n close to uniformly distributed where X 0 is the zero vector. This paper also shows that if T has a complex eigenvalue which is a root of unity, then order p b steps are needed for X n to get close to uniformly distributed for some positive value b≤2 which may depend on T and X 0 is the zero vector.  相似文献

Let F n be the free group of rank n, let Aut(F n ) be its automorphism group and let Out(F n ) be its outer automorphism group. We show that every solvable subgroup of Out(F n ) has a finite index subgroup that is finitely generated and free Abelian. We also show that every Abelian subgroup of Out(F n ) has a finite index subgroup that lifts to Aut(F n ).  相似文献

We consider an almost hyper-Abellan group G of a finite Abelian sectional rank that is the product of two subgroups A and B. We prove that every subgroup H that belongs to the intersection AB and is ascending both in A and B is also an ascending subgroup in the group G. The famous theorem of Belyi states that the compact Riemann surface X can be defined over the number field if and only if X can be uniformized by a finite index subgroup Γ of a Fuchsian triangle group Λ. As a result such surfaces are now called Belyi surfaces. The groups PSL(2,q),q=p n are known to act as the groups of automorphisms on such surfaces. Certain aspects of such actions have been extensively studied in the literature. In this paper, we deal with symmetries. Singerman showed, using acertain result of Macbeath, that such surfaces admit a symmetry which we shall call in this paper the Macbeath-Singerman symmetry. A classical theorem by Harnack states that the set of fixed points of a symmetry of a Riemann surface X of genus g consists of k disjoint Jordan curves called ovals for some k ranging between 0 and g+1. In this paper we show that given an odd prime p, a Macbetah-Singerman symmetry of Belyi surface with PSL(2,p) as a group of automorphisms has at most  相似文献

For a faithful linear representation of a finite group G over a field of characteristic p, we study the ring of invariants. We especially study the polynomial and Cohen–Macaulay properties of the invariant ring. We first show that certain quotient rings of the invariant ring are polynomial rings by which we prove that the Hilbert ideal conjecture is true for a class of groups. In particular, we prove that the conjecture is true for vector invariant rings of Abelian reflection p-groups. Then we study the relationships between the invariant ring of G and that of a subgroup of G. Finally, we study the invariant rings of affine groups and show that, over a finite field, if an affine group contains all translations then the invariant ring is isomorphic to the invariant ring of a linear group.  相似文献
