We present a semiclassical three-fluid model for a Bose-condensed mixture of interacting Bose and Fermi gases confined in harmonic traps at finite temperature. The model is used to characterize the experimentally relevant behaviour of the equilibrium density profile of the fermions with varying composition and temperature across the onset of degeneracy, for coupling strengths relevant to a mixture of 39K and 40K atoms. Using electron paramagnetic resonance, optical absorption, and fast spectroscopy of light-induced absorption changes, it is shown that codoping BaTiO3:Rh with NaBa acceptors raises the charge state of Rh3+ to Rh4+. Subsequent oxidation under high oxygen pressures can lower the Fermi level to Rh4+/5+, leading to increased infrared absorption. The light-induced charge transfer in such specimens is characterised by “one center” behaviour. The present status of research of muon transfer from the ground state of muonic protium to 4He is reviewed. The analysis of a recent measurement in a triple gas mixture of H2+4He+Ne at 15 bar and room temperature is presented and the result is compared to the existing experimental and theoretical rates. We have studied the ionization of Rydberg-excited xenon atoms in THz-laser fields and by quantum dynamical calculations. The experimental threshold laser field strength for 10% ionization probability follows an n*-1.68 (1.04 THz) dependence (n* effective principal quantum number) with additional weak resonance structures and shows that ionization does not occur by a Landau-Zener mechanism. At scaled frequencies of to 5.6 the simulated threshold fields for ionization in oscillatory fields show a dependence on the principal quantum number n of n-4.1 to n-1.35. Dynamics of the Yb3+ to Er3+ energy transfer in LiNbO3   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The energy transfer dynamics between Yb3+ and Er3+ ions in lithium niobate is investigated after ytterbium-pulsed excitation at 920 nm. The sensitisation of the LiNbO3:Er3+ system with Yb3+ ions does not modify the lifetime of the 4I13/2 erbium level (1.5-μm emission), whereas it induces a marked, concentration-dependent change in the lifetime of the 2F5/2 (Yb3+) and 4S3/2 (Er3+) multiplets (1060-nm and 550-nm emissions, respectively). The results are analysed by using the rate-equation formalism and cross-relaxation model for the energy transfer. A simple model of a bad-cavity laser is presented based on Haken's master equation for N pumped two-level atoms in a cavity. Via adiabatic elimination of fast variables the whole photon statistics is solved analytically near threshold. It is shown that the second order coherence function g (2) (0) has a very different behavior near threshold for a bad-cavity laser compared to a good-cavity laser. An ablation threshold of 1.4 J/cm2, an optimal energy density of 9–10 J/cm2, and a corresponding specific ablation energy of 25–30 J/mm3 are found for pig thighbone compacta at λ=9.57 μm and a beam waist diameter of 0.5 mm. Muon-transfer rates in collisions of hydrogen-like atoms or with light nuclei t, 3He, 4He, 6Li or 7Li, are calculated in a semiclassical approximation to the Faddeev-Hahn equations. The two nuclei involved are treated classically, while the motion of the muon in their Coulomb field is considered from the quantum mechanical point of view. 1 (LO) mode peak at 579 cm-1, indicating oxygen deficiency in the films. Significant dependence of the electrical property for the films on substrate temperature was shown. The I–V relation of the films exhibited non-ohmic behavior. Whereas the films deposited above 500 °C showed a metal-like property, at a lower substrate temperature semiconducting thin films were achieved. This paper presents an experimental technique for measurement of the contrast ratio of ultrashort UV pulses. As a multiple-shot device based on the scheme of difference frequency generation this is, to our knowledge, the only cross correlator in the UV so far, which offers a dynamic range of 107 and operates with input pulse energies as low as 5 μJ. By changing the cross correlator into single-shot mode, the temporal shape of the UV pulse can be measured. We present a pseudopotential method to study the absorption spectroscopy of NO in an argon matrix modeled by a large albeit finite cluster. The excited states of NO are described with the virtual orbitals of a NO+ Hartree-Fock calculation plus a core-polarization operator to account for the electron-NO+ correlation. The argon atoms of the matrix are replaced by pseudopotentials for the repulsive contributions and core-polarization operators to account for matrix polarization and correlation with the excited electron. The model is shown to account for the matrix-induced transition shifts and also for the cut-off of the Rydberg series for n >3 reported in absorption experiments from the ground state. It was found that the decrease of the effective thickness during heat treatments under 10-8 mbar was caused by evaporation from the surface of the substrate. Using the model developed by Kaganovskii and Beke we have established that the process is controlled by surface diffusion. The XAS study at Cr, Co, Ni and Mn K-edges was performed for the doped CMR manganites Ln0.5Ca0.5Mn1-xBxO3 with Ln=La, Nd, Sm and B= Cr, Co, Ni (), on the samples that were studied previously for their ferromagnetic-metallic to antiferromagnetic-insulator transition. We observed that the formal charges of the doping elements are Ni2+, Co2+ and Cr3+. It is also evidenced that the average formal charge of the manganese is increased after doping, in agreement with the charge compensation keeping “O3” stoichiometry.
