[structure: see text] A cadmium-centered tris-boronic acid receptor was synthesized, and its binding properties toward various anionic sugars were determined. This receptor shows high affinity for different anionic sugars, especially gluconic acid, which has an association constant near approximately 10(7) M(-)(1) at neutral pH. Further, using an indicator displacement assay, a color change of pyrocatechol violet was observed upon addition of anionic sugars. This colorimetric test was used as a facile screening technique to qualitatively analyze guest affinities. 相似文献

A colorimetric sensing ensemble was prepared by mixing readily prepared adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-stabilized AuNPs with Cu2+-phenanthroline complexes. The sensing mechanism of the ensemble was examined by UV-vis spectrometry and transmission electron microscopy. The studies showed that the Cu2+-phenanthroline complex was converted to free phenanthroline when exposed to cyanide anions and the free phenanthroline caused the ATP-stabilized AuNPs to aggregate, which in turn, resulted in a visible color change in the AuNP solution. The ensemble could detect cyanide ions in aqueous solution at physiological pH, either spectrophotometrically or visually, with high selectivity toward cyanide anions over a range of mono- and di-anions commonly found in biological and environmental systems. This sensing ensemble also allows a quantitative assay of the analyte in a neutral aqueous solution, down to a concentration of 10−5 M. 相似文献

The selectivity and sensitivity of two colorimetric sensors based on the ruthenium complexes N719 [bis(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate)ruthenium(II) bis(tetrabutylammonium) bis(thiocyanate)] and N749 [(2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine-4,4',4' '-tricarboxylate)ruthenium(II) tris(tetrabutylammonium) tris(isothiocyanate)] are described. It was found that mercury ions coordinate reversibly to the sulfur atom of the dyes' NCS groups. This interaction induces a color change in the dyes at submicromolar concentrations of mercury. Furthermore, the color change of these dyes is selective for mercury(II) when compared with other ions such as lead(II), cadmium(II), zinc(II), or iron(II). The detection limit for mercury(II) ions--using UV-vis spectroscopy--in homogeneous aqueous solutions is estimated to be approximately 20 ppb for N719 and approximately 150 ppb for N749. Moreover, the sensor molecules can be adsorbed onto high-surface-area mesoporous metal oxide films, allowing reversible heterogeneous sensing of mercury ions in aqueous solution. The results shown herein have important implications in the development of new reversible colorimetric sensors for the fast, easy, and selective detection and monitoring of mercuric ions in aqueous solutions. 相似文献

Controlled assembly of nanomaterials has been the focus of much research. In contrast, controlled disassembly has not received much attention, even though both processes have been shown to be important in biology. By using a Pb2+-dependent RNA-cleaving DNAzyme, we demonstrate here control of the disassembly of gold nanoparticle aggregates in response to Pb2+. In the process, we show that nanoparticle alignment plays an important role in the disassembly process, with the tail-to-tail configuration being the most optimal, probably because of the large steric hindrance of other configurations. The rate of disassembly is significantly accelerated by using small pieces of DNA to invade the cleaved substrate of the DNAzyme. Investigation of such a controlled disassembly process allows the transformation of previously designed "light-down" colorimetric Pb2+ sensors into "light-up" sensors. 相似文献

Sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC-Na) was demonstrated to be a new colorimetric cyanide chemosensor by utilizing an indirect
trick. First, some copper ions were added to the colorless aqueous solution of DDTC-Na. Then, the resultant brown solution
was studied upon the addition of different anions, including Cl−, I−, IO3−, SO42−, NO2−, Br−, H2PO4−, F−, SCN−, HSO4−, ClO4− and CN−. It was observed by naked eyes that the brown solution changed to colorless immediately after the addition of the trace cyanide,
but there were no changes towards other anions, making DDTC-Na a good selective cyanide chemosensor in pure water.

New chromogenic receptors containing 2-nitrophenyl or 3,5-dinitrophenyl groups appended to the amide or in secondary amine positions have been synthesized and characterized. Upon addition of fluoride to two of the receptors in acetonitrile, the solution acquired a yellow colour. The third receptor showed an intense purple colour with fluoride in acetonitrile and the appearance of the purple colour can be detected by the naked eye at parts per million level. The addition of chloride, bromide and iodide to the receptors did not induce any colour. Thus the receptors can act as fluoride ion sensors even in the presence of other halide ions. 相似文献

A detailed investigation of the absorption and CD signals of Ag(I)-cysteine (Cys) aqueous solutions at buffered or varying pH has allowed us to suggest that coordination polymers are formed upon mixing Ag(I) and Cys bearing a Ag(I)-Cys repeat unit. The formation of the coordination polymers are shown to be facilitated by both the Ag(I)···Ag(I) interaction and the interaction between the side chains in the polymeric backbone. The former allows for an immediate spectral sensing of Cys with enantiomeric discrimination capacity with both high sensitivity and selectivity, and the contribution of the side-chain/side-chain interaction serves to guide extended sensing applications by means of modulating this interaction. With our preliminary data on the corresponding Cu(I)-Cys and Au(I)-Cys systems that exhibited similar spectral signals, we conclude that the M(I)-SR coordination polymers (M = Cu, Ag, or Au) could in general function as spectral sensing ensembles for extended applications. Biologically important analytes such as cysteine and vitamin-C were detected by electron transfer (ET) via naked eye colorimetric sensing using a tailor-made water-soluble self-doped polyaniline (PSPANa) as a substrate. Monomer (N-3-sulfopropylaniline) was synthesized via ring-opening of propane sultone with excess aniline and polymerized in water using ammonium persulfate to obtain green water-soluble polymer. Vitamin-C (ascorbic acid) and cysteine showed unexpected sharp and instantaneous color change from blue to colorless sensing action. The stoichiometry of the analyte to polymer was determined as 3:2 and 4:1 with association (or binding) constants of K = 2.1 × 10(3) and 1.5 × 10(3) M(-1) for vitamin-C and cysteine, respectively. Efficient electron transfer from vitamin-C (also cysteine) to the quinoid unit of the polyaniline base occurred in solution; as a result, the color of the solution changed from deep blue to colorless. Cyclic voltammetry analysis of PSPANa showed the disappearance of the cathodic peak at -0.21 V upon the addition of analytes (vitamin-C and cysteine) and confirms the electron transfer from the analyte to the polymer backbone. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zeta potential techniques were utilized to trace the molecular interactions in the electron transfer process. DLS histograms of the polymer samples confirmed the existence of nanoaggregates of 8-10 nm in diameter. The polymers possessed typical amphiphilic structure to produce micellar aggregates which facilitate the efficient electron transfer occurred between the analyte and polyaniline backbone. 相似文献

We demonstrate a sensitive and rapid colorimetric assay for selective detection of copper ions based on the strong coordination between Cu(II) ions and the tetrahydroxyaurate anions [Au(OH)4]? on the surface of thermally treated bare gold nanoparticles (GNPs). The method for making the unmodified GNPs is simple and results in a nanomaterial with a highly specific response to Cu(II). The thermal treatment of the bare GNPs and the recognition of Cu(II) ions is accomplished in a single step within 5 min. The presence of Cu(II) causes the color to change from red to purple-blue. The limit of detection (LOD) is 0.04 μM of Cu(II) when using UV–vis spectrometry and ratioing the absorbances at 650 and 515 nm, respectively. The method also is amenable to bare eye (visual) inspection and in this case has an LOD of 2.0 μM of Cu(II). Figure

A chlorinated coumarin-aldehyde was developed as a colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent probe for distinguishing glutathione (GSH), cystenine (Cys) and homocysteine (Hcy). The GSH-induced substitution-cyclization and Cys/Hcy-induced substitution-rearrangement cascades lead to the corresponding thiol-coumarin-iminium cation and amino-coumarin-aldehyde with distinct photophysical properties. The probe can be used to simultaneously detect GSH and Cys/Hcy by visual determination based on distinct different colors – red and pale-yellow in PBS buffer solution by two reaction sites. From the linear relationship of fluorescence intensity and biothiols concentrations, it was determined that the limits of detection for GSH, Hcy and Cys are 0.08, 0.09 and 0.18 μM, respectively. The receptor portion of the ensemble is prepared from a bisimidazole pyridine which coordinates copper to form a well-defined cavity. Small heteroaromatic guests such as adenine bind strongly in the cavity. The fluorescent response is provided by a dye which is coordinated to the receptor and quenched by the metal ion.
