Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a microbially-driven process enabling energy production. Microorganisms are the core of anaerobic digesters and play an important role in the succession of hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis, and methanogenesis processes. The diversity of participating microbial communities can provide new information on digester performance for biomass valorization and biofuel production. In this study anaerobic systems were used, operating under mesophilic conditions that realized biodegradation processes of waste wheat straw pretreated with NaOH—a renewable source for hydrogen and methane production. These processes could be managed and optimized for hydrogen and methane separately but combining them in a two-stage system can lead to higher yields and a positive energy balance. The aim of the study was to depict a process of biohydrogen production from lignocellulosic waste followed by a second one leading to the production of biomethane. Archaeal and bacterial consortia in a two-stage system operating with wheat straw were identified for the first time and the role of the most important representatives was elucidated. The mixed cultures were identified by the molecular-biological methods of metagenomics. The results showed that biohydrogen generation is most probably due to the presence of Proteiniphilum saccharofermentans, which was 28.2% to 45.4% of the microbial community in the first and the second bioreactor, respectively. Archaeal representatives belonging to Methanobacterium formicicum (0.71% of the community), Methanosarcina spelaei (0.03%), Methanothrix soehngenii (0.012%), and Methanobacterium beijingense (0.01%) were proven in the methane-generating reactor. The correlation between substrate degradation and biogas accumulation was calculated, together with the profile of fatty acids as intermediates produced during the processes. The hydrogen concentration in the biogas reached 14.43%, and the Methane concentration was 69%. Calculations of the energy yield during the two-stage process showed 1195.89 kWh·t−1 compared to a 361.62 kWh·t−1 cumulative yield of energy carrier for a one-stage process.  相似文献

In this paper, rice straw was used as a raw material to produce biogas by anaerobic batch fermentation at 35 °C (mesophilic) or 55 °C (thermophilic). The hydrogen sulfide in biogas can be converted to S0 or sulfate and removed in-situ under micro-oxygen environment. Trace oxygen was conducted to the anaerobic fermentation tank in amount of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, or 10.0 times stoichiometric equivalence, respectively, and the control experiment without oxygen addition was carried out. The results showed that the initial H2S concentrations of biogas are about 3235?±?185 mg/m3 (mesophilic) or 3394?±?126 mg/m3 (thermophilic), respectively. The desulfurization efficiency is 72.3 % (mesophilic) or 65.6 % (thermophilic), respectively, with oxygen addition by stoichiometric relation. When the oxygen feeded in amount of 2~4 times, theoretical quantity demanded the removal efficiency of hydrogen sulfide could be over 92 %, and the oxygen residue in biogas could be maintained less than 0.5 %, which fit the requirement of biogas used as vehicle fuel or combined to the grid. Though further more oxygen addition could promote the removal efficiency of hydrogen sulfide (about 93.6 %), the oxygen residue in biogas would be higher than the application limit concentration (0.5 %). Whether mesophilic or thermophilic fermentation with the extra addition of oxygen, there were no obvious changes in the gas production and methane concentration. In conclusion, in-situ desulfurization can be achieved in the anaerobic methane fermentation system under micro-oxygen environment. In addition, air could be used as a substitute oxygen resource on the situation without strict demand for the methane content of biogas.  相似文献

Different inoculum sources and acclimatization methods result in different substrate adaptation and biodegradability. To increase straw degradation rate, shorten the digester start-up time, and enhance the biogas production, we domesticated anaerobic sludge by adding microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). During acclimatization, the start-up strategies and reactor performance were investigated to analyze changes in feedstock adaption, biodegradability, and methanogen activity. The effect of the domesticated inoculum was evaluated by testing batch un-pretreated corn stover with a dewatered sludge (DS)-domesticated inoculum as a control. The results showed that (1) using MCC as a substrate rapidly improved microorganism biodegradability and adaptation. (2) MCC as domesticated substrate has relatively stable system and high mass conversion, but with low buffer capacity. (3) Macro- and micronutrients should be added for improving the activity of methanogenic and system’s buffer capacity. (4) Using the domesticated inoculums and batch tests to anaerobically digest untreated corn stover yielded rapid biogas production of 292 mL, with an early peak value on the first day. The results indicated that cultivating directional inoculum can efficiently and quickly start-up digester. These investigated results to promote anaerobic digestion of straw for producing biogas speed up the transformation of achievements of biomass solid waste utilization have a positive promoting significance.  相似文献

Rapeseed meal is a solid by-product obtained from rapeseed after oil extraction. This contribution summarises experiences from batch experiments as well as the long-term processing of this substrate in a laboratory stirred anaerobic reactor (continuous stirred-tank reactor). On the basis of the batch tests of hydrolysis, acidogenesis, and methanogenic activity, it was concluded that the anaerobic degradation of rapeseed meal can be performed using a one-step system and it is not necessary to include a hydrolytic-acidogenic step prior to the methanogenic step. Although the methanogenic potential of rapeseed meal appears to be very promising, the long-term processing as a single substrate led to serious problems arising from the inhibitory effects. It was, therefore, co-fermented with crude glycerol from biodiesel production. From the long-term operation of the laboratory model, it may be stated that, due to the co-fermentation of by-products from biodiesel production, the individual inhibition effects can be suppressed to a large extent and biogas production can be stabilised. The maximum organic loading rate in the continuous stirred reactor achieved 2.42 kg m?3 d?1 of volatile solids (15 g of rapeseed meal and 20 mL of gas-phase), which was 3.13 kg m?3 d?1 of chemical oxygen demand.  相似文献

The glucoamylase from Aspergillus niger, immobilized into poly(vinylalcohol) hydrogel lens-shaped capsules LentiKats®, was used for simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) with Zymomonas mobilis in free form. This system was stable in both the repeated batch and continuous mode of SSF. The microorganism was found to adsorb on the capsules with immobilized enzyme. This increased the ethanol productivity of the repeated batch system with 5% w/v of immobilized glucoamylase almost 2.1 times (7.2 g l?1 h?1) compared to free enzyme–free microorganism system (3.5 g l?1 h?1). The continuous SSF with the immobilized glucoamylase (11.5% w/v) tested for 15 days had productivity 10 g l?1 h?1, which is comparable to continuous experiments on semi-defined glucose medium (10 g l?1 h?1). These two systems were stable in both glucoamylase activity and microorganism productivity.  相似文献

The dehydration of tert‐butyl alcohol (TBA) in the liquid phase was studied by using an ion exchange resin, Amberlyst 15 (A15) in the H+ form. Experiments were carried out both in a semi‐batch reactor and in a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) with wet or dry resins. The results with the dry resin in the semi‐batch reactor were different from those with the wet resin due to the swelling of resin in the presence of water. However, the results in CSTR agreed well with those in the semi‐batch reactor using the wet resin. A rate equation that considered the inhibition of water was formulated. The adsorption kinetics for removal of uranium (V1) from aqueous solution using silicon dioxide nanopowder (nano-SiO2) was investigated in batch and continuous techniques. Pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order were used to analyze the kinetics of batch experiments. In continuous technique the important parameters (initial concentration, flow rate and bed height) on the breakthrough curves were studied and the adsorption kinetics was analyzed using Thomas and Yoon and Nelson kinetic models. The comparison between the kinetic models was evaluated by the correlation coefficients (r2). The results indicated that the batch experiments fitted well with pseudo second-order kinetic model. The comparison of the experimental breakthrough curve to the breakthrough profile obtained from Thomas and Yoon and Nelson methods showed a satisfactory fit for silicon dioxide nanopowder.  相似文献

The cyclotron production of gallium-68 via the 68Zn(p,n)68Ga nuclear reaction in liquid targets is gaining significant traction in clinics. This work describes (1) the synthesis of new arylamino phosphonates via the Kabachnik–Fields reaction, (2) their use for liquid–liquid extraction of 68Ga from 1 M Zn(NO3)2/0.01 M HNO3 in batch and continuous flow, and (3) the use of Raman spectroscopy as a process analytical technology (PAT) tool for in-line measurement of 68Zn. The highest extraction efficiencies were obtained with the extractants functionalized with trifluoromethyl substituents and ethylene glycol ponytails, which were able to extract up to 90% of gallium-68 in batch and 80% in flow. Only ppm amounts of zinc were co-extracted. The extraction efficiency was a function of pKa and the aqueous solubility of the extractant and showed marked concentration, solvent, and temperature dependence. Raman spectroscopy was found to be a promising PAT tool for the continuous production of gallium-68.  相似文献

This study was designed to evaluate the performance of a cylindrical anaerobic digester in treating secondary sewage sludge. A series of three independent batch experiments was performed for a total operation time of 60 d. The system of anaerobic digestion showed stability conditions, with no noticeable scum or foaming problems. The chemical oxygen demand reduction reached 29, 21, and 45% in sludge and 95, 85, and 82% in supernatant for the three experiments, respectively. Total coliform bacteria levels in the digester ranged from 104 to 105 in influent sludge and from 104 to 103 in effluent sludge, with an average reduction of 90%. Fecal coliforms of the order of 104 were enumerated in influent sludge and those of the order of 100 were enumerated in effluent sludge, with an average reduction of 99.9%. The studied system had satisfactory results, showing that both organic matter and indicator bacteria levels substantially decrease when the sludge is submitted to anaerobic digestion.  相似文献

A methane production system with continuous stirred-tank reactor, rumen liquid as inoculate microorganisms, and paper mill excess sludge (PES) as feedstock was studied. The work mainly focused on revealing the effect of feedstock concentration on the biogas production, which was seldom reported previously for the current system. The optimal fermentation conditions were found as follows: pH = 7, T = 39 ± 1 °C, sludge retention time is 20 days, sludge with total solids (TS) are 1, 2, 3.5, 5, 10, and 13% in weight. Daily gas yields were measured, and biogas compositions were analyzed by gas chromatograph. Under such conditions, the optimum input TS was 10 wt%, and the biogas yield and volume gas productivity were 280.2 mL/g·TS and 1188.4 mL L?1·d?1, respectively. The proportions of CH4 and CO2 in the biogas were 65.1 and 34.2%. The CH4 yield reached 182.7 mL/g VS (volatile suspended solid), which was higher than previously reported values. The findings of this work have a significant effect on promoting the application of digesting PES by rumen microorganisms and further identified the technical parameter.  相似文献

The continuous wine fermentation process, which employs a newly designed tapered column type bioreactor and immobilized yeast cells (Montrachet 522), was studied and its fermentation performance was compared with batch and suspended cell continuous wine fermentation systems. It was found that a stable continuous culture fermentation process could be maintained for a period of 2–3 mo when the new bioreactor system packed with immobilized yeast cells was employed. The new bioreactor containing immobilized yeast cells performed significantly better than the suspended cell culture system or batch culture. The effluent wine from the continuous fermentor system contained 7.1% (v/v) ethanol and 0.18% (w/v) residual sugar at 0.01 h-1 dilution rate. The new continuous bioreactor system also gave 17–34 times higher maximum ethanol productivity compared to the conventional batch wine fermentation. At a low dilution rate, 0.01-1, as high as 92% sugar to ethanol yield was achieved. Based on the results obtained from this study, the possibility of developing a continuous wine cooler fermentation process was demonstrated. A two-stage continuous wine fermentation system may be designed and operated. The grape juice can be fed into the first-stage that is operated at about 0.2 h-1 dilution rate and the effluent from the first-stage is fed into the second-stage continuous fermentor operated at about 0.01 h-1 dilution rate. By doing so, a wine cooler can be produced continuously and efficiently, by employing the newly designed tapered column type bioreactor charged with the immobilized yeast cells.  相似文献

2-Phenylethanol (2-PE) is an alcohol with a rosy scent and antimicrobial activity, and therefore, it is widely used in the food and cosmetic industries as an aroma and preservative. This work was aimed to draw up a technology for 2-PE bioproduction on whey permeate, which is waste produced by the dairy industry, rich in lactase and proteins. Its composition makes it a harmful waste to dispose of; however, with a properly selected microorganism, it could be converted to a value-added product. Herein, two yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus strains and one Kluyveromyces lactis, isolated from dairy products, were tested for 2-PE production, firstly on standard media and then on whey permeate based media in batch cultures. Thereafter, the 2-PE bioproduction in a continuous system in a 4.8 L bioreactor was developed, and subsequently, the final product was recovered from culture broth. The results showed that the yield of 2-PE production increased by 60% in the continuous culture compared to batch culture. Together with a notable reduction of chemical oxygen demand for whey permeate, the present study reports a complete, effective, and environmentally friendly strategy for 2-PE bioproduction with a space-time yield of 57.5 mg L−1 h−1.  相似文献

Paramylon is a valuable intracellular product of the microalgae Euglena gracilis, and it can accumulate in Euglena cells according to the cultivation conditions. For the sustainable production of paramylon and appropriate cell growth, different bioreactor processes and industrial byproducts can be considered as substrates. In this study, a complex medium with corn steep solid (CSS) was used, and various bioreactor processes (batch, fed batch, semicontinuous and continuous) were performed in order to maximize paramylon production in the microalgae Euglena gracilis. Compared to the batch, fed batch and repeated batch bioprocesses, during the continuous bioprocess in a stirred tank bioreactor (STR) with a complex medium containing 20 g/L of glucose and 25 g/L of CSS, E. gracilis accumulated a competitive paramylon content (67.0%), and the highest paramylon productivity of 0.189 g/Lh was observed. This demonstrated that the application of a continuous bioprocess, with corn steep solid as an industrial byproduct, can be a successful strategy for efficient and economical paramylon production.  相似文献

Several batch experiments were conducted on the anaerobic co-digestion of dairy cow manure (DCM) with three harvest residues (HR) (soybean straw, sunflower stalks, and corn stover). The influence of thermal pretreatment of HR on biogas production was investigated, where the HR were thermally pretreated at two different temperatures: T = 121 °C and T = 175 °C, during t = 30 and t = 90 min, respectively. All anaerobic co-digestion batch experiments were performed simultaneously under thermophilic regime, at T = 55 °C. Biogas and methane yields were significantly improved in experiments performed with corn stover thermally pretreated at 175 °C for 30 min (491.37 cm3/g VS and 306.96 cm3/g VS, respectively), if compared to experiments performed with untreated corn stover. The highest VS and COD removal rates were also observed in the same group of experiments and were 34.5 and 50.1%, respectively. The highest biogas and methane yields with soybean straw (418.93 cm3/g VS and 261.44 cm3/g VS, respectively) were obtained when soybean straw pretreated at 121 °C during 90 min. The highest biogas and methane yields with sunflower stalk (393.28 cm3/g VS and 245.02 cm3/g VS, respectively) were obtained when sunflower stalk was pretreated at 121 °C during 90 min.  相似文献

Summary: An epoxy polymerization process is studied in semi‐batch mode. Caustic has a very critical influence on epoxy polymerization process, which is modeled as a set of highly nonlinear coupled ODE's (ordinary differential equations). Owing to the highly complicated, nonlinear domain of analysis, “Differential Evolution (DE)” and “Genetic Algorithm (GA)” are used as optimization tools to identify the ‐PDI Pareto set and study the best operating strategy with respect to NaOH addition. The moment of various oligomeric components during the semi‐batch polymerization is also presented for a better understanding of the process. This study demonstrates the potential of evolutionary optimization algorithm to identify various operating philosophies of a semi‐batch epoxy reactor for a targeted product quality.

Korean food waste was treated with a single-stage anaerobic codigester (SSAD) using waste activated sludge (WAS) generated from a municipal wastewater treatment plant. The stability and performance of the system was analyzed. The C/N ratio was improved with increasing food waste fraction of feed mixture. The pH, alkalinity, and free ammonia nitrogen concentration were the parameters used to evaluate the digester’s stability. The experimentally determined values of the parameters indicated that there were no methane inhibitions in the digester. Digester performance was determined by measuring the total chemical oxygen demand TCOD), volate solids (VS) removal, methane content in biogas, methane production rate (MPR), and specific methane productivity. Methane content in biogas and MPR were significantly dependent on hydraulic retention time (HRT) and ratio of food waste to WAS. The methane content in biogas decreased at shorter HRT or higher organic loading rate (OLR) with increased food waste fraction. Concerning the performance of the codigester, the optimum operating condition of the SSAD was found to be at an HRT of 10 d with a feed mixture ratio of 50% food waste and 50% WAS. A TCOD removal efficiency of 53.6% and a VS removal efficiency of 53.7% were obtained at an OLR of 5.96 kg of TCOD/(m3·d) and 3.14 kg of VS/(m3·d), respectively. A maximum MPR of 1.15 m3 CH4/(m3·d) and an SMP of 0.37 m3 CH4/kg of VSfeed were obtained at an HRT of 10 d with a methane content of 63%.  相似文献

(S) -3-Chloro-1-(2-thienyl)-1-propanol was synthesized by the asymmetric reduction of 3-chloro-1-(2-thienyl)propanone with liquid-core immobilized Candida pseudotropicalis 104. The optimum time was 28?h for the re-cultivation of immobilized cells. The optimum film solvent for the liquid-core capsule was 0.3?% chitosan (M w 1.0?×?105). Conversion decreased with the increase of the liquid-core capsule diameter and with the addition of more substrates at the same reduction time. The immobilized cells show good reduction ability in a potassium phosphate buffer (pH 6.6~7.2). The material outside the spread speed of immobilized cells was not restricted when the shaking speed was higher than 160?r/min. Liquid-core immobilized cells can be reused 11 times. Compared with the batch reduction, the continuous reduction of 3-chloro-1-(2-thienyl)propanone in the membrane reactor with liquid-core immobilized cells as catalyst can relieve the inhibition from a high-concentration substrate. Conversion and enantiometric excess of (S)-3-chloro-1-(2-thienyl)-1-propanol reached 100?% and >99?% in a continuous reduction of 12?g/L 3-chloro-1-(2-thienyl)propanone for 10?days.  相似文献

Biogas from anaerobic digestion of organic materials is a renewable energy resource that consists mainly of CH4 and CO2. Trace components that are often present in biogas are water vapor, hydrogen sulfide, siloxanes, hydrocarbons, ammonia, oxygen, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen. Considering the biogas is a clean and renewable form of energy that could well substitute the conventional source of energy (fossil fuels), the optimization of this type of energy becomes substantial. Various optimization techniques in biogas production process had been developed, including pretreatment, biotechnological approaches, co-digestion as well as the use of serial digester. For some application, the certain purity degree of biogas is needed. The presence of CO2 and other trace components in biogas could affect engine performance adversely. Reducing CO2 content will significantly upgrade the quality of biogas and enhancing the calorific value. Upgrading is generally performed in order to meet the standards for use as vehicle fuel or for injection in the natural gas grid. Different methods for biogas upgrading are used. They differ in functioning, the necessary quality conditions of the incoming gas, and the efficiency. Biogas can be purified from CO2 using pressure swing adsorption, membrane separation, physical or chemical CO2 absorption. This paper reviews the various techniques, which could be used to optimize the biogas production as well as to upgrade the biogas quality.  相似文献

One of the most significant issues of the last few decades has been tracing for renewable energy sources. Animal fleshing (ANFL) is the most common proteinaceous solid waste accured during the production of leather and it must be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. This paper is attempts to assess the biogas production from solid waste originating from the chrome based tannery. Anaerobic digestion of these wastes will be a viable option for waste stabilization and energy production in the form of biogas to be utilized in the industry. The bio-methane potential of the wastes were examined by mixing these wastes with various sources of inoculum and different inoculum to substrate (I/S) ratio considered. The batch experiments were carried out in 2.5 l glass reactors with a various source of inoculumviz., Cow Dung (CD), Elephant Dung (ED) and Bio-Digested Slurry (BDS) with varied inoculum to substrate (LFs) ratios for a retention time of 50 days with replications. The results obtained from the experiments showed that BDS:LF (25:75) had the highest gas production of 14505 ml (651.85 ml CH4g?1 VS) followed by CD:LF (50:50) produced 12072.5 ml (789.36 ml CH4g?1 VS) and ED:LF (75:25) produced 11252.5 ml (1492.08 ml CH4g?1 VS)with a methane content of 63.77, 61.92 and 62.72%, respectively.  相似文献

The anaerobic treatment of raw vinasse in a combined system consisting in two methanogenic reactors, up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) + anaerobic packed bed reactors (APBR), was evaluated. The organic loading rate (OLR) was varied, and the best condition for the combined system was 12.5 kg COD m?3day?1 with averages of 0.289 m3 CH4 kg COD r?1for the UASB reactor and 4.4 kg COD m?3day?1 with 0.207 m3 CH4 kg COD r?1 for APBR. The OLR played a major role in the emission of H2S conducting to relatively stable quality of biogas emitted from the APBR, with H2S concentrations <10 mg L?1. The importance of the sulphate to COD ratio was demonstrated as a result of the low biogas quality recorded at the lowest ratio. It was possible to develop a proper anaerobic digestion of raw vinasse through the combined system with COD removal efficiency of 86.7% and higher CH4 and a lower H2S content in biogas.  相似文献
