An exact solution for inhomogeneous strain and stress distributions within a finite cubic isotropic cylinder of Si1?xGex alloy under the axial Point Load Strength Test (PLST) is analytically derived. Lekhnitskii’s stress function is used to uncouple the equations of equilibrium, and a new expression for the stress function is proposed so that all of the governing equations and boundary conditions are satisfied exactly. The solution for isotropic cylinders under the axial PLST is covered as a special case. Numerical results show that the strain and stress distributions in the central region within half height and radius are relatively homogeneous, but strain and stress concentrations are usually developed near the point loads. The largest tensile strain and stress are always induced along the line joining the point loads, which gives theoretical explanation why most of the cylindrical specimens are split apart along the line joining the point loads under the axial PLST. In addition, by using envelope-function method, the effect of strain on the valence-band structure of Si1?xGex alloy is analyzed. It is found that strain changes the band quantum gap and the shape of constant energy surfaces of the heavy-hole and the light-hole bands of Si1?xGex alloy.  相似文献

Based on the Reissner assumptions, this paper is concerned with the bending analysis of simply supported sandwich plates with functionally graded core and orthotropic face sheets subjected to transverse distributed loadings. First, the expressions of the displacements, stresses and internal forces of the sandwich plate are presented according to the constitutive relations and stress states of the core and face sheets. Then, the solutions of bending equilibrium equations are derived by expanding the deflection w, transverse shearing forces Qx and Qy with double trigonometric series that satisfy the simply supported boundary conditions. Finally, the proposed solution is validated by comparing the results with available elasticity solutions for a square sandwich plate with an isotropic core and finite element simulations for one with functionally graded core. The Young's modulus of the functionally graded core is assumed to be graded by a power law distribution of volume fractions of the constituents, and the Poisson's ratio is held constant. And the effects of the core's top-bottom Young's modulus ratio ? and volume fraction exponent n0 on the variation of the displacements of the functionally graded sandwich plate are also examined.  相似文献

In the first part of this paper, we considered the exact statement of the plane elasticity problem in displacements for strips made of various materials (problem A, an isotropic material; problem B, an orthotropic material with 2G 12 < √E 1 E 2; problem C, an orthotropic material with 2G 12 > √E 1 E 2). Further, we stated and solved the boundary layer problem (the problem on a solution decaying away from the boundary) for a sandwich strip of regular structure consisting of isotropic layers (problem AA). In the present paper, we use the solution of the plane problem to consider the problem for sandwich strips of regular structure with isotropic face layers and orthotropic filler (problem AB).  相似文献

Effect of anisotropy on thermal instability in a fluid saturated porous medium subjected to an inclined temperature gradient of finite magnitude is analysed using Galerkin technique. Results are compared with those of isotropic and horizontally isotropic cases. It is observed that anisotropic medium is the most stable while either isotropic situation or the horizontally isotropic situation is the most unstable one depending on the horizontal Rayleigh number (R H ), anisotropy parametersk 1(=k y /k x ), and ?2(=?γ/? z ).  相似文献

The stability of steady, quasi-static slip at a planar interface between an anisotropic elastic solid and an isotropic elastic solid is studied. The paper begins with an analysis of anti-plane sliding at an orthotropic/isotropic interface. Friction at the interface is assumed to follow a rate- and state-dependent law. The stability to spatial perturbations of the form exp(ikx1), where k is the wavenumber and x1 is the coordinate along which the interface is studied. An expression is derived for the critical wavenumber ∣kcr above which there is stability. In-plane sliding at an anisotropic/isotropic interface is subsequently studied. In this case, slip couples with normal stress changes and a constitutive law for dynamic normal stress changes is adopted. Again a formula for ∣kcr is derived and the results are specialized to the case of an orthotropic/isotropic interface. Numerical plots of the dependence of ∣kcr on the orientation of the orthotropic solid, as well as on the material parameters are provided.  相似文献

In this paper, an analytical solution in series form for the problem of a circularly cylindrical layered piezoelectric composite consisting of N dissimilar layers is presented within the framework of linear piezoelectricity. Each layer of the composite is assumed to be transversely isotropic with respect to the longitudinal direction (x3 direction), and the composite is subject to arbitrary electromechanical singularities infinitely extended in a direction perpendicular to the x1x2 plane such that only in-plane electric fields and out-of-plane displacement are produced. The alternating technique in conjunction with the method of analytical continuation is applied to derive the general multilayered media solution in an explicit series form, whose convergence is guaranteed numerically. The distributions of the shear stress and electric field are found to be dependent on the material combinations and the magnitude and position of the electromechanical singularities. An exactly closed form solution is obtained and discussed graphically for a practical example.  相似文献

Surface responses induced by point load or uniform traction moving steadily with subsonic speed on an anisotropic half-plane boundary are investigated. It is found that the effects of the material constant on surface displacements are through matrices L?1(v) and S(v)L?1(v), while those on surface stress components are through matrices Ω(v) and Γ(v). Explicit expressions for the elements of these four matrices are expressed in terms of elastic stiffness for general anisotropic materials. The special cases of monoclinic materials with symmetry plane at x1 = 0, x2 = 0 and x3 = 0, and the case for orthotropic materials are all deduced. Results for isotropic material may be recovered from present results. For monoclinic materials with a plane of symmetry at x3 = 0, two of the elements of matrix Ω(v) are found to be independent of subsonic speed.  相似文献

In a half-plane problem with x1 paralleling with the straight boundary and x2 pointing into the medium, the stress components on the boundary whose acting plane is perpendicular to x1 direction may be denoted by t1 = [σ11, σ12, σ13]T. Stress components σ11 and σ13 are of more interests since σ12 is completely determined by the boundary conditions. For isotropic materials, it is known that under uniform normal loading σ11 is constant in the loaded region and vanishes in the unloaded part. Under uniform shear loading, σ11 will have a logarithmic singularity at the end points of shear loading. In this paper, the behavior of the stress components σ11 and σ13 induced by traction-discontinuity on general anisotropic elastic surfaces is studied. By analyzing the problem of uniform tractions applied on the half-plane boundary over a finite loaded region, exact expressions of the stress components σ11 and σ13 are obtained which reveal that these components consist of in general a constant term and a logarithmic term in the loaded region, while only a logarithmic term exists in unloaded region. Whether the constant term or the logarithmic term will appear or not completely depends on what values of the elements of matrices Ω and Γ will take for a material under consideration. Elements for both matrices are expressed explicitly in terms of elastic stiffness. Results for monoclinic and orthotropic materials are all deduced. The isotropic material is a special case of the present results.  相似文献

We formulate a new criterion for regularity of a suitable weak solution v to the Navier–Stokes equations at the space-time point (x 0, t 0). The criterion imposes a Serrin-type integrability condition on v only in a backward neighbourhood of (x 0, t 0), intersected with the exterior of a certain space-time paraboloid with vertex at point (x 0, t 0). We make no special assumptions on the solution in the interior of the paraboloid.  相似文献

Nonlinear aeroelastic characteristics of sandwich beams with pyramidal lattice core are investigated, and the active flutter control of the nonlinear structural system is also studied using the piezoelectric actuator/sensor pair. In the structural modeling, Reddy’s third-order shear deformation theory is applied. Aerodynamic pressure is evaluated by the supersonic piston theory. Hamilton’s principle and the assumed mode method are used to derive the equation of motion. The proportional feedback and the optimal H control methods are performed to design the controller. In the robust control, the uncertainty caused by omitting the nonlinear terms of the control equation is taken into account, and the mixed sensitivity method is used to solve the problem. The nonlinear aeroelastic property of the sandwich beam is analyzed and is compared with that of the equivalent isotropic beam with the same weight to show the superior aeroelastic characteristics of the lattice sandwich beam. Controlled vibration responses under the two different controllers are calculated and compared. Simulation results show that the robust controller is much more effective than the proportional feedback controller in the flutter suppression of the nonlinear sandwich beam.  相似文献

Consider a long thin isotropic elastic cylinder with a self-equilibrated loading on each end face, but which is stress-free on the sides and which has no internal body forces. It is shown that if the displacement gradient is pointwise sufficiently small, then, in any subcylinder of length 1/4a, it is possible to add a rigid body motion such that the L 2 norm of the resulting displacement gradient can be bounded by a constant times the L 2 norm of the strain in a subcyclinder of length 2a centered at the same point. The parameter a depends upon the pointwise bound for the displacement gradient (the smaller the bound, the larger a can be) and the constant is independent of the length thickness ratio of the subcylinder.  相似文献

A method for inverting the transforms of the terms in generalized ray series representations for disturbances in layered media is presented. It differs from the Cagniard reduction in that the solution of algebraic equations depending upon position x and time t is not required. This step is, in effect, replaced by contour integration of relatively simple functions. The method is applicable to anisotropic layers but it simplifies when applied to isotropic layers, for which any term in the ray series is represented as a single contour integral, around a fixed contour, of the product of a function that embodies material properties and a simple explicit function of x and t. The ‘material function’ can be tabulated and used repeatedly when the integral is evaluated for a range of values of x and t, so that the procedure is computationally quite efficient. It is illustrated by a computation of Green's function for an isotropic half-space, either free or overlaid by a fluid. Wave-front singularities are obtained explicitly from the representation and are given in an appendix.  相似文献

Mechanical responses of materials undergoing large elastic deformations can exhibit a loss of stability in several ways. Such a situation can occur when a thin-walled cylinder is inflated by an internal pressure. The loss of stability is manifested by a non-monotonic relationship between the inflating pressure and internal volume of the tube. This is often called limit point instability. The results, known from the literature, show that isotropic hyperelastic materials with limiting chain extensibility property always exhibit a stable response if the extensibility parameter of the Gent model satisfies Jm<18.2. Our study investigates the same phenomenon but for tubes with anisotropic form of the Gent model (finite extensibility of fibers). Anisotropy, used in our study, increases the number of material parameters the consequence of which is to increase degree of freedom of the problem. It will be shown that, in stark contrast to isotropic material, the unstable response is predicted not only for large values of Jm but also for Jm≈1 and smaller, and that the existence of limit point instability significantly depends on the orientation of preferred directions and on the ratio of linear parameters in the strain energy density function (this ratio can be interpreted as the ratio of weights by which fibers and matrix contribute to the strain energy density). Especially tubes reinforced with fibers oriented closely to the longitudinal direction are susceptible to a loss of monotony during pressurization.  相似文献

An expression for the yield stress of anisotropic materials is applied to the anisotropic strength of hard rolled copper foils whose crystallographic texture is known. We assume that this crystallographic texture is the only cause of the anisotropic plastic behaviour of the material. The model used for the yield stress is also used to deduce:
  1. Stress-strain relations for isotropic polycrystalline materials;
  2. A formula for the fully plastic strain tensor, applied to anisotropic hard rolled copper foils.
For the anisotropic copper foils considered the calculated curves of the yield stress and of the strain tensor as a function of the angle x between rolling and tensile direction agree qualitatively with the measured values. However, the theory is not complete, since the yield stress and the plastic strain tensor are both a function of a parameter Q, the fraction of the number of available crystallographic slip planes on which the maximum shear stress has reached the critical value τa. We assume that for “fully” plastic deformation a certain critical fraction Q e of the total number of slip planes has to be active. The fraction Q e is called the critical active quantity. With the parameter Q e we adjust the calculated curves to the measured ones. The dependence of Q e on the properties of the material (e.g. the crystallographic texture) is discussed in Appendix I.  相似文献

An experimental investigation has been conducted for exploring a possibility to improve the heat transfer of tube banks of in-line arrangement, in which the first cylinder was roughened with pyramids. Measured were the heat transfer characteristics of the first cylinder for several cylinder spacings. It is found that there exists the critical Reynolds numberRe c , beyond which the heat transfer rate increases drastically by about 30 to 50% as compared with that for the smooth cylinder, though the increasing rate is small for the case of very narrow spacing such asC y /d×C x /d =1.2×1.2. In the region ofRe>Re c , the separation point shifts downstream to θ=120° to 130° from the forward stagnation point, and it results in the decrease of the form drag.  相似文献

From a microscopic point of view, the real contact area between two rough surfaces is the sum of the areas of contact between facing asperities. Since the real contact area is a fraction of the nominal contact area, the real contact pressure is much higher than the nominal contact pressure, which results in plastic deformation of asperities. As plasticity is size dependent at size scales below tens of micrometers, with the general trend of smaller being harder, macroscopic plasticity is not suitable to describe plastic deformation of small asperities and thus fails to capture the real contact area and pressure accurately. Here we adopt conventional mechanism-based strain gradient plasticity (CMSGP) to analyze the contact between a rigid platen and an elasto-plastic solid with a rough surface. Flattening of a single sinusoidal asperity is analyzed first to highlight the difference between CMSGP and J2 isotropic plasticity. For the rough surface contact, besides CMSGP, pure elastic and J2 isotropic plasticity analysis is also carried out for comparison. In all cases, the contact area A rises linearly with the applied load, but with a different slope which implies that the mean contact pressures are different. CMSGP produces qualitative changes in the distributions of local contact pressures compared with pure elastic and J2 isotropic plasticity analysis, furthermore, bounded by the two.  相似文献

Heretofore, the resistance of a barrier to ballistic penetration has been characterized chiefly by a specific ballistic-limity V50, the velocity at which a specified projectile has an even (50–50) chance of perforating a plate in a specified manner. Conventional procedures for measuringV 50 involve statistical sampling. For each situation, a number of rounds must be fired; each round must have the same geometrical attitude at impact. Using a ballistic pendulum, an accurate new method has been devised to measure, directly, the minimum perforation velocity,V x , for each and every complete perforation. ThisV x is equal toV 50 when the impact velocityV is also equal toV 50; hence, by plottingV x as a function ofV, theV 50 can be determined quickly and accurately without resort to statistical sampling. This experimental method is especially valuable for measuringV x andV 50 values as a function of projectile attitude. Using conventional procedures, it is impossible to measureV x as a function ofV, and to measureV 50 values for unstable attitudes is very difficult and inefficient (most rounds are wasted). Post-perforation residual velocities,V r , of the projectile and material driven from the plate can be predicted accurately ifV x is known. Thus, the experimental procedure provides the data required to evaluate the ability of a barrier to slow down a projectile, as well as to defineV 50.  相似文献

It is a common point of view in fracture mechanics that, for any geometry of the body with a crack and any boundary conditions for the loading acting in the body plane, the stress and displacement components near the crack tip can be approximated in the framework of the theory of elasticity by a one-parameter or one-term representation, i.e., strictly in terms of the stress intensity coefficients K I and K II for an arbitrary failure crack [1, 2]. The authors of [2] specified the Westergaard function of the singular solution for a central crack under the biaxial loading of a plate. This approximate two-component solution has satisfactory accuracy. It is clear from [2] that this method cannot be admitted as a general statement [1], although it has long been assumed to be correct. The cause is that one cannot reasonably justify neglecting the second term in the Williams representation of the stress components in the plane case in the form of eigenfunction series; the contribution of this term in the rectangular coordinate system x, y is independent of the distance from the crack tip. This method may result in a serious mistake, from both the qualitative and quantitative viewpoints, in the prediction of local stresses, displacements, and related variables that are of interest. Apparently, this can best be demonstrated by an example of biaxial loading of a plate with a crack [1]. The unfounded neglect of the second term (whose contribution is independent of the distance from the crack tip) in the series representing the stress components is the source of the above-mentioned difficulties. In this problem, the influence of the load applied in the direction parallel to the crack plane manifests itself only in the second term of the series [3]. Therefore, this term should be clearly determined and studied in detail in the case of technological welding defects (faulty fusions, incomplete fusions, undercuts, and slag inclusions) and crack-like defects (scratches and cuts) in the base metal. The influence of the stress σ OX along the crack axis on the stress tensor σ x , σ y , τ xy and on the displacements u x and u y is confirmed by experimental studies of cracks by the photoelasticity method [4].  相似文献

The problem of a penny-shaped crack subjected to symmetric uniform heat flux in an infinite transversely isotropic magneto-electro-thermo-elastic medium is investigated. The exact solution in the full space is in terms of line integrals and the exact solution in the crack plane also is obtained. Although we start our derivations with magneto-electro-thermo-elastic, the solution presented in this paper is also applicable for linear transversely isotropic thermopiezoelectric, thermomagnetoelastic, thermoelastic materials (see Appendix E). The solution in the crack plane, which shows a great agreement with the solution for a transversely isotropic medium obtained by Tsai (1983), indicates that σx,σy,Dx,Dy,Bxσx,σy,Dx,Dy,Bx, and ByBy along the crack rim are of the same singularity of the normal stress or its equivalent quantities. To illustrate how the applied symmetric heat fluxes affect the whole fields, a numerical example is also given.  相似文献

The Stroh formalism is extended to provide a new class of three-dimensional solutions for the generally anisotropic elastic material that have polynomial dependence on x3, but which have quite general form in x1,x2. The solutions are obtained by a sequence of partial integrations with respect to x3, starting from Stroh's two-dimensional solution. At each stage, certain special functions have to be introduced in order to satisfy the equilibrium equation. The method provides a general analytical technique for the solution of the problem of the prismatic bar with tractions or displacements prescribed on its lateral surfaces. It also provides a particularly efficient solution for three-dimensional boundary-value problems for the half-space. The method is illustrated by the example of a half-space loaded by a linearly varying line force.  相似文献
