Bipolar II disorder is characterized by alternating hypomanic and major depressive episode. We model the periodic mood variations of a bipolar II patient with a negatively damped harmonic oscillator. The medications administrated to the patient are modeled via a forcing function that is capable of stabilizing the mood variations and of varying their amplitude. We analyze analytically, using perturbation method, the amplitude and stability of limit cycles and check this analysis with numerical simulations.  相似文献

The energy increment spectrum method is developed for the numerical prediction of the appearance and disappearance of a primary (2M: 1)-librational or (M: 1)-rotational resonant separatrix band in a parametrically excited pendulum. The analytical conditions for the presence of such separatrix bands are also obtained. Illustrations of the analytical and numerical results for the appearance and destruction of the resonant bands are given for a comparison.  相似文献

A criterion for the stability on a finite time interval, with respect to a given measure, of parametrically excited distributed processes is obtained. To this end the comparison method is used in conjunction with Lyapunov's second method and extremal properties of the Rayleigh ratios for self-adjoint operators in Hilbert space. In this paper, we investigate the synchronization of chaotic systems consisting of non-identical parametrically excited oscillators. The active control technique is employed to design control functions based on Lyapunov stability theory and Routh–Hurwitz criteria so as to achieve global chaos synchronization between a parametrically excited gyroscope and each of the parametrically excited pendulum and Duffing oscillator. An analogue simulation study for the stability investigations of nonlinear parametrically excited structural systems, exhibiting hard and soft spring characteristics is undertaken as a feasible alternative to current asymptotic and other analytic methods. It is shown that this technique locates the position of an unstable limit cycle, identifying the point of change of equilibrium states, which is ordinarily obscured in using the other existing schemes.  相似文献

In this paper, a nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli beam under a concentrated harmonic excitation with intermediate nonlinear support is investigated. Continuous expression for the kinetic energy, potential energy and dissipation function are constructed. An energy method based on the Lagrange equation combined with the Galerkin truncation is used for discretizing the governing equation. The Multi-dimensional incremental harmonic balance method (MIHBM) is derived, and the comparisons between the numerical results and the approximate analytical solutions based on the MIHBM verify the excellent accuracy of the MIHBM. The steady state dynamic of the beam is investigated by MIHBM. In order to investigate the energy transmission and understand the vibration response of the Euler-Bernoulli beam, the effects of the key parameters on the dynamic behaviors are studied and discussed, individually. The results show that the amplitude-frequency curves exhibits softening nonlinear behavior in the super-harmonic resonance region, and near resonant region the hardening nonlinear behavior is observed depending on the different parameters. Nonlinear dynamic analysis, such as bifurcation, 3-D frequency spectrum, waveform, frequency spectrum, phase diagram and Poincaré map, are also presented in order to study the influences of the key parameters on the vibration behaviors for the beam in a more accurate manner. In addition, the path to chaotic motion is observed to be through a sequence of the periodic motion and quasi-periodic motion.  相似文献

The free and forced flexural oscillations of a rod with hinged supports are investigated analytically and numerically. The geometrical non-linearity due to the change in the length of the central line of the rod accompanying its three-dimensional motion is taken into account. The oscillations of a rod with different natural frequencies in two mutually perpendicular directions as a consequence of the variance in the flexural stiffnesses of the rod or the stiffnesses of the supports in the different directions, are considered. It is shown in the case of natural oscillations that, together with two planar forms of motion, a form exists when a certain threshold value is exceeded, which corresponds to the motion of the cross-sections of the rod in a circle. The amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics of the system are constructed and qualitatively investigated in the neighbourhood of the principal resonance.  相似文献

As the analysis of the chaotic dynamical behavior of a parametric Duffing’s system, we show that chaos can be suppressed by addition the Gauss white noise phase and determined by the sign of the top Lyapunov exponent, which is based on the Khasminskii’s formulation and the extension of Wedig’s algorithm for linear stochastic systems. Also Poincaré map analysis is carried out to confirm the obtained results. So random phase can be realized as one of the methods of chaos control.  相似文献

Two exact solutions of the plane strain problem of the harmonic oscillations of a viscoelastic rod, the cross-section of which is a right triangle, are proposed. Either the normal displacement and the shear stress or the shear displacement and the normal stress of the side surface of the rod are given. Six dimensionless parameters which affect the dynamic deformation process are derived. Two parameters characterize the contribution of the viscous properties with respect to the elastic properties, two others define the logarithmic decrement of the longitudinal and shear harmonic waves, and two other parameters affect the wavelength of the corresponding wave and the velocity of motion of the wave front of these waves. The velocities of both types of waves and their wavelengths turn out to be greater than the velocities and wavelengths of the corresponding elastic waves. It is shown that, for certain values of the viscosity and the oscillation frequency, pseudo-resonance frequencies are possible which are higher than the resonance frequencies for an elastic medium.  相似文献

Research on the bifurcations of the multiple limit cycles for a parametrically and externally excited mechanical system is presented in this paper. The original mechanical system is first transformed to the averaged equation in the Cartesian form, which is in the form of a Z2-symmetric perturbed polynomial Hamiltonian system of degree 5. Then, using the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical system and the method of detection function, the bifurcations of the multiple limit cycles of the system are investigated and the configurations of compound eyes are also obtained.  相似文献

The local length-dependence of the natural frequencies and forms of plane transverse oscillations of a thin inhomogeneous rod in an elastic medium with a variable stiffness and arbitrary elastic-fastening boundary conditions is investigated. It is established that the presence of an external elastic medium, described by the Winkler model, can lead to an anomalous effect – an increase in the natural frequencies of lower oscillation modes as the length of the rod increases continuously. The extremely fine properties of this change as a function of the length, the mode number and the method of fastening are revealed. The oscillations in the case of standard methods of fastening are investigated separately. Simple examples, which illustrate the anomalous dependence of the natural oscillation frequencies of the rod in an extremely inhomogeneous elastic medium with different boundary conditions are calculated.  相似文献
