This paper presents a two-dimensional analytical solution for compound channel flows with vegetated floodplains. The depth-integrated N-S equation is used for analyzing the steady uniform flow. The effects of the vegetation are considered as the drag force item. The secondary currents are also taken into account in the governing equations, and the preliminary estimation of the secondary current intensity coefficient K is discussed. The predicted results for the straight channels and the apex cross-section of meandering channels agree well with experimental data, which shows that the analytical model presented here can be applied to predict the flow in compound channels with vegetated floodplains.  相似文献

A simple but applicable analytical model is presented to predict the lateral distribution of the depth-averaged velocity in meandering compound channels. The governing equation with curvilinear coordinates is derived from the momentum equation and the flow continuity equation under the condition of quasi-uniform flow. A series of experiments are conducted in a large-scale meandering compound channel. Based on the experimental data, a magnitude analysis is carried out for the governing equation, and two lower-order shear stress terms are ignored. Four groups of experimental data from different sources are used to verify the predictive capability of this model, and good predictions are obtained. Finally, the determination of the velocity parameter and the limitation of this model are discussed.  相似文献

An analytical solution for predicting the vertical distribution of streamwise mean velocity in an open channel flow with submerged flexible vegetation is proposed when large bending occurs. The flow regime is separated into two horizontal layers: a vegetation layer and a free water layer. In the vegetation layer, a mechanical analysis for the flexible vegetation is conducted, and an approximately linear relationship between the drag force of bending vegetation and the streamwise mean flow velocity is observed in the case of large deflection, which differes significantly from the case of rigid upright vegetation. Based on the theoretical analysis, a linear streamwise drag force-mean flow velocity expression in the momentum equation is derived, and an analytical solution is obtained. For the free water layer, a new expression is presented, replacing the traditional logarithmic velocity distribution, to obtain a zero velocity gradient at the water surface. Finally, the analytical predictions are compared with published experimental data, and the good agreement demonstrates that this model is effective for the open channel flow through the large deflection flexible vegetation.  相似文献

The governing equation of the discharge per unit width, derived from the flow continuity equation and the momentum equation in the vegetated compound chan- nel, is established. The analytical solution to the discharge per unit width is presented, including the effects of bed friction, lateral momentum transfer, drag force, and secondary flows. A simple' but available numerical integral method, i.e., the compound trapezoidM formula, is used to calculate the approximate solutions of the sub-area discharge and the total discharge. A comparison with the published experimental data from the U. K. Flood Channel Facility (UK-FCF) demonstrates that this model is capable of predicting not only the stage-discharge curve but also the sub-area discharge in the vegetated com- pound channel. The effects of the two crucial parameters, i.e., the divided number of the integral interval and the secondary flow coefficient, on the total discharge are discussed and analyzed.  相似文献

The theory of poroelasticity is introduced to study the hydraulic properties of the steady uniform turbulent flow in a partially vegetated rectangular channel. Plants are assumed as immovable media. The resistance caused by vegetation is expressed by the theory of poroelasticity. Considering the influence of a secondary flow, the momentum equation can be simplified. The momentum equation is nondimensionalized to obtain a smooth solution for the lateral distribution of the longitudinal velocity. To verify the model, an acoustic Doppler velocimeter (ADV) is used to measure the velocity field in a rectangular open channel partially with emergent artificial rigid vegetation. Comparisons between the measured data and the computed results show that the method can predict the transverse distributions of stream-wise velocities in turbulent flows in a rectangular channel with partial vegetation.  相似文献

Turbulent flow in a compound meandering open channel with seminatural cross sections is one of the most complicated turbulent flows as the flow pattern is influenced by the combined action of various forces, such as centrifugal force, pressure, and shear stresses. In this paper, a three‐dimensional (3D) Reynolds stress model (RSM) is adopted to simulate the compound meandering channel flows. Governing equations of the flow are solved numerically with finite‐volume method. The velocity fields, wall shear stresses, and Reynolds stresses are calculated for a range of input conditions. Good agreement between the simulated results and measurements indicates that RSM can successfully predict the complicated flow phenomenon. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper presents two‐dimensional and unsteady RANS computations of time dependent, periodic, turbulent flow around a square block. Two turbulence models are used: the Launder–Sharma low‐Reynolds number k–ε model and a non‐linear extension sensitive to the anisotropy of turbulence. The Reynolds number based on the free stream velocity and obstacle side is Re=2.2×104. The present numerical results have been obtained using a finite volume code that solves the governing equations in a vertical plane, located at the lateral mid‐point of the channel. The pressure field is obtained with the SIMPLE algorithm. A bounded version of the third‐order QUICK scheme is used for the convective terms. Comparisons of the numerical results with the experimental data indicate that a preliminary steady solution of the governing equations using the linear k–ε does not lead to correct flow field predictions in the wake region downstream of the square cylinder. Consequently, the time derivatives of dependent variables are included in the transport equations and are discretized using the second‐order Crank–Nicolson scheme. The unsteady computations using the linear and non‐linear k–ε models significantly improve the velocity field predictions. However, the linear k–ε shows a number of predictive deficiencies, even in unsteady flow computations, especially in the prediction of the turbulence field. The introduction of a non‐linear k–ε model brings the two‐dimensional unsteady predictions of the time‐averaged velocity and turbulence fields and also the predicted values of the global parameters such as the Strouhal number and the drag coefficient to close agreement with the data. The flow of water in a straight compound channel with prismatic cross section is investigated with a relatively new tool, the lattice Boltzmann method. The large eddy simulation model is added in the lattice Boltzmann model for nonlinear shallow water equations (LABSWETM) so that the turbulence, caused by lateral exchange of momentum in the shear layer between the main channel and floodplain, can be taken into account and modeled efficiently. To validate the numerical model, a symmetrical compound channel with trapezoidal main channel and flat floodplain is tested. Similar to most natural watercourses, the floodplain has higher roughness values than the main channel. Different relative depths, Dr (the ratio of the depth of flow on the floodplain to that in the main channel), are considered. The Reynolds number is set at 30 000 in the main channel. The lateral distributions of the longitudinal velocity, the boundary shear stress, the Reynolds stress and the apparent shear stress across the channel are obtained after the large eddy simulation is performed. The results of numerical simulations are compared with the available experiment data, which show that the LABSWETM is capable of modeling the features of flow turbulence in compound channels and is sufficiently accurate for practical applications in engineering. This paper deals with a numerical solution of compressible flows. In the case of Euler equations, a numerical solver is presented on a structured quadrilateral grid. The Advection Upstream Splitting Method (AUSM) scheme is used and the spatial accuracy is improved by linear reconstruction with slope limiters. The influence of those limiters are then tested in cases of transonic flow through a channel and a blade cascade.  相似文献

According to the physiological and anatomical characteristics of small intestine, neglecting the effect of its motility on the distribution and absorption of drug and nutrient, Y. Miyamoto et al.[1] proposed a model of two-dimensional laminar flow in a circular porous tube with permeable wall and calculated the concentration profile of drug by numerical analysis. In this paper, we give a steady state analytical solution of the above model including deactivation term. The obtained results are in agreement with the results of their numerical analysis. Moreover the analytical solution presented in this paper reveals the relation among the physiological parameters of the model and describes the basic absorption rule of drug and nutrient through the intestinal wall and hence provides a theoretical basis for determining the permeability and reflection coefficient through in situ experiments. The unsteady flow of viscoelastic fluid with the fractional derivative Maxwell model (FDMM) in a channel is studied in this note. The exact solutions are obtained for an arbitrary pressure gradient by means of the finite Fourier cosine transform and the Laplace transform. Two special cases of pressure gradient are discussed. Some results given by the classical models with integer-order are included in this note.  相似文献

Based on the basic equations for axisymmetric problems of transversely isotropic elastic materials, the displacement components are expressed in terms of polynomials of the radial coordinate with the five involved coefficients, named as displacement functions in this paper, being undetermined functions of the axial (thickness) coordinate. Five equations governing the displacement functions are then derived. It is shown that the displacement functions can be found through progressive integration by incorporating the boundary conditions. Thus a three-dimensional analytical solution is obtained for a transversely isotropic functionally graded disc rotating at a constant angular velocity. The solution can be degenerated into that for an isotropic functionally graded rotating disc. A prominent feature of this solution is that the material properties can be arbitrary functions of the axial coordinate. Thus, the solution for a homogeneous transversely isotropic rotating disc is just a special case that can be easily derived. An example is finally considered for a special functionally graded material, and numerical results shows that the material inhomogeneity has a remarkable effect on the elastic field.  相似文献

In this paper, a three-dimensional filter-matrix lattice Boltzmann (FMLB) model based on large eddy simulation (LES) was verified for simulating wall-bounded turbulent flows. The Vreman subgrid-scale model was employed in the present FMLB–LES framework, which had been proved to be capable of predicting turbulent near-wall region accurately. The fully developed turbulent channel flows were performed at a friction Reynolds number Reτ of 180. The turbulence statistics computed from the present FMLB–LES simulations, including mean stream velocity profile, Reynolds stress profile and root-mean-square velocity fluctuations greed well with the LES results of multiple-relaxation-time (MRT) LB model, and some discrepancies in comparison with those direct numerical simulation (DNS) data of Kim et al. was also observed due to the relatively low grid resolution. Moreover, to investigate the influence of grid resolution on the present LES simulation, a DNS simulation on a finer gird was also implemented by present FMLB–D3Q19 model. Comparisons of detailed computed various turbulence statistics with available benchmark data of DNS showed quite well agreement.  相似文献

The problem of magneto‐hydrodynamic fluid flow past a nonlinear stretching sheet in the presence of a transverse magnetic field is analyzed. The governing equations are transformed into a nonlinear ordinary differential equation that is solved using a novel spectral homotopy analysis method and the Matlab in‐built numerical solverttbvp4c. The new technique removes some known limitations of the homotopy analysis method and offers a more systematic way of selecting initial approximations and the optimal auxiliary parameter ?. A comparison with the numerical solution confirms the robustness, the computational efficiency, and the accuracy of the technique. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

According to a mathematical model for dense two-phase flows presented in theprevious paper,a dense two-phase flow in a vertical pipeline is analytically solved, and theanalytic expressions of velocity of each continuous phase and dispersed phase arerespectively derived The results show that when the drag force between two phases dependslinearly on their relative velocity, the relative velocity profile in the pipeline coincides withDarcy’s law except for the thin layer region near the pipeline wall, and that the theoreticalassumptions in the dense two-phase flow theory mentioned are reasonable.  相似文献

A new two-equation model is proposed for large eddy simulations (LESs) using coarse grids. The modeled transport equations are obtained from a direct transposition of well-known statistical models by using multiscale spectrum splitting given by the filtering operation applied to the Navier–Stokes equations. The model formulation is compatible with the two extreme limits that are on one hand a direct numerical simulation and on the other hand a full statistical modeling. The characteristic length scale of subgrid turbulence is no longer given by the spatial discretization step size, but by the use of a dissipation equation. The proposed method is applied to a transposition of the well-known k- statistical model, but the same method can be developed for more advanced closures. This approach is intended to contribute to non-zonal hybrid models that bridge Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) and LES, by using a continuous change rather than matching zones. The main novelty in the model is the derivation of a new equation for LES that is formally consistent with RANS when the filter width is very large. This approach is dedicated to applications to non-equilibrium turbulence and coarse grid simulations. An illustration is made of large eddy simulations of turbulence submitted to periodic forcing. The model is also an alternative approach to hybrid models. PACS 47.27.Eq  相似文献

A simple technique is presented that allows a numerical solution to be sought for the vertical variation of shear stress as a substitute for the vertical variation of velocity in a three-dimensional hydrodynamic model. In its most general form the direct stress solution (DSS) method depends only upon the validity of an eddy viscosity relation between the shear stress and the vertical gradient of velocity. The rationale for preferring a numerical solution for shear stress to one for velocity is that shear stress tends to vary more slowly over the vertical than velocity, particularly near boundaries. Consequently, a numerical solution can be obtained much more efficiently for shear stress than for velocity. When needed, the velocity profile can be recovered from the stress profile by solving a one-dimensional integral equation over the vertical. For most practical problems this equation can be solved in closed form. Comparisons are presented between the DSS technique, the standard velocity solution technique and analytical solutions for wind-driven circulation in an unstratified, closed, rectangular channel governed by the linear equations of motion. In no case was the computational effort required by the velocity solution competitive with the DSS when a physically realistic boundary layer was included. The DSS technique should be particularly beneficial in numerical models of relatively shallow water bodies in which the bottom and surface boundary layers occupy a significant portion of the water column.  相似文献
