We investigated the motion of domain walls in ferromagnetic cylindrical nanowires by solving the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation numerically for a classical spin model in which energy contributions from exchange, crystalline anisotropy, dipole–dipole interactions, and a driving magnetic field are considered. Depending on the diameter, either transverse domain walls or vortex walls are found. A transverse domain wall is observed for diameters smaller than the exchange length of the given system. In this case, the system effectively behaves one dimensionally and the domain wall velocity agrees with the result of Slonczewski for one-dimensional walls. For larger diameters, a crossover to a vortex wall sets in which enhances the domain wall velocity drastically. For a vortex wall the domain wall velocity is described by the Walker formula.  相似文献

We show that in the collision of two superfluid fermionic atomic clouds one observes the formation of quantum shock waves as discontinuities in the number density and collective flow velocity. Domain walls, which are topological excitations of the superfluid order parameter, are also generated and exhibit abrupt phase changes by π and slower motion than the shock waves. The domain walls are distinct from the gray soliton train or number density ripples formed in the wake of the shock waves and observed in the collisions of superfluid bosonic atomic clouds. Domain walls with opposite phase jumps appear to collide elastically.  相似文献

We consider the disagreements in gravitational properties of planar and spherical domain walls (bubbles). We argue that if the spherical domain walls are described by the same equation of state as the planar walls are, then they also exhibit gravitational repulsion just as the planar walls are assumed to do. In the thin-wall approximation we show the existence of the solution of Einstein equations with negative gravitational mass of bubbles and the reversed direction of time flow on the shell. The equilibrium radius and critical mass of such objects are found for realistic models.  相似文献

Direct observations of current-induced domain-wall propagation by spin-polarized scanning electron microscopy are reported. Current pulses move head-to-head as well as tail-to-tail walls in submicrometer Fe20Ni80 wires in the direction of the electron flow, and a decay of the wall velocity with the number of injected current pulses is observed. High-resolution images of the domain walls reveal that the wall spin structure is transformed from a vortex to a transverse configuration with subsequent pulse injections. The change in spin structure is directly correlated with the decay of the velocity.  相似文献

The velocity of domain walls driven by current in zero magnetic field is measured in permalloy nanowires using real-time resistance measurements. The domain wall velocity increases with increasing current density, reaching a maximum velocity of approximately 110 m/s when the current density in the nanowire reaches approximately 1.5 x 10(8) A/cm(2). Such high current driven domain wall velocities exceed the estimated rate at which spin angular momentum is transferred to the domain wall from the flow of spin polarized conduction electrons, suggesting that other driving mechanisms, such as linear momentum transfer, need to be taken into account.  相似文献

The thermal-diffusive model was applied to the problem of flame propagation in a microchannel with controlled temperature distribution in the walls; this demonstrated the possibility of formation of oscillating or rotating spatial flame structures, which were described previously in experimental works on microcombustion. Two cases were considered: combustion in a rectangular channel and in the clearance between two disks with radial feeding of premixture. In both cases, the typical across size of the channel was lower than the critical diameter determined with respect to the ambient temperature. The gas flow was assigned and described by the Poiseuille-flow velocity profile. Formation of oscillating flame in a rectangular channel and rotating patterns in a radial channel was observed for a certain range of gas flow rate. At low flow rates beyond this range, repetitive ignition/extinction of flame took place; at high flow rate we observed a steady flame mode. Formation of these special flame structures is related to heat transfer between gas and hot walls of the channel, as well as to velocity maldistribution in the microchannel.  相似文献

We study current-induced domain-wall motion in a narrow ferromagnetic wire. We propose a way to move domain walls with a resonant time-dependent current which dramatically decreases the Ohmic losses in the wire and allows driving of the domain wall with higher speed without burning the wire. For any domain-wall velocity we find the time dependence of the current needed to minimize the Ohmic losses. Below a critical domain-wall velocity specified by the parameters of the wire the minimal Ohmic losses are achieved by dc current. Furthermore, we identify the wire parameters for which the losses reduction from its dc value is the most dramatic.  相似文献

The motion of magnetic domain walls in permalloy nanowires is investigated by real-time resistance measurements. The domain wall velocity is measured as a function of the magnetic field in the presence of a current flowing through the nanowire. We show that the current can significantly increase or decrease the domain wall velocity, depending on its direction. These results are understood within a one-dimensional model of the domain wall dynamics which includes the spin transfer torque.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of laminar, isothermal, incompressible and viscous flow in a rectangular domain bounded by two moving porous walls, which enable the fluid to enter or exit during successive expansions or contractions is solved analytically by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Graphical results are presented to investigate the influence of the nondimensional wall dilation rate α and permeation Reynolds number Re on the velocity, normal pressure distribution and wall shear stress. The obtained solutions, in comparison with the numerical solutions, demonstrate remarkable accuracy. The present problem for slowly expanding or contracting walls with weak permeability is a simple model for the transport of biological fluids through contracting or expanding vessels.   相似文献

The dynamics of the ab-type 180-degree domain walls was studied in weak ferromagnets with quadratic magnetoelectric interaction in alternating magnetic and electric fields. The features of the oscillatory and drift motion of the domain walls are discussed. The drift velocity of the ab-type domain walls as a function of the frequency and phase shift of the external fields is obtained. The possibility of the drift of the domain walls in a purely electric field is established.  相似文献

Time-dependent flow of a viscoelastic material through a wavy curved channel is studied. The flow traversing the wavy curved domain is modelled in the curvilinear coordinates. The viscoelastic fluid is described by the fluid relaxation and retardation times, and their variations are considered in relation to the flow characteristic time scale. The wavy walls of the curved channels are in sinusoidal form, with arbitrary phase difference. Using domain perturbation technique, the analytical solution of the model is obtained, including the velocity and the volumetric flow rate. The analytical solution is explained as a function of the flow domain structure, the viscoelastic fluid properties, and the flow generating force. Flow enhancement due to the flow domain is discussed; we have shown that the flow augmentation depends on the properties of the viscoelastic fluid. Furthermore, comparisons have been made with Newtonian fluid flow, and the prominent variations in the flow behaviours have been reported.  相似文献

We detail measurements of field-driven expansion and zero-field relaxation of magnetic mirror domains in antiferromagnetically coupled perpendicularly magnetized ultrathin Co layers. The zero-field stability of aligned ('mirror') domains in such systems results from non-homogeneous dipolar stray fields which exist in the vicinity of the domain walls. During field-driven domain expansion, we evidence a separation of the domain walls which form the mirror domain boundary. However, the walls realign, thereby reforming a mirror domain, if their final separation is below a critical distance at the end of the field pulse. This critical distance marks the point at which the effective net interaction between the walls changes from attractive to repulsive.  相似文献

We extend a lattice Boltzmann algorithm of liquid crystal hydrodynamics to include an applied electric field. The approach solves the equations of motion written in terms of a tensor order parameter. Back-flow effects and the hydrodynamics of topological defects are included. We investigate some of the dynamics relevant to liquid crystal devices; in particular defect-mediated motion of domain walls relevant to the nucleation of states useful in pi-cells. An anisotropy in the domain wall velocity is seen because defects of different topology couple differently to the flow field.  相似文献

The dynamics of planar relativistic domain walls is investigated with the help of a new method proposed by Arodz and Larsen. Two solutions are found: one is a steady state domain wall, the other is a nonstationary domain wall. They move with the same constant velocity in the laboratory frame coordinates. When the velocity approaches light velocity c, the "width" of the nonstationary wall inflates very slowly. These domain walls can disappear again soon after their creation in the early universe by moving away from our visible universe. So they would not dominate the universe completely, but keep the observed universe approximately isotropic and homogeneous.  相似文献

Evidence of Bloch domain walls in nonlinear optical systems is given. These walls are found in the transverse fields of optical parametric oscillators when the polarization degree of freedom, the cavity birefringence, and (or) dichroism are taken into account. These domain walls arise spontaneously and exhibit defects where Bloch walls of different chirality join together. Two dynamic regimes are found:In the first one the vector field approaches a final homogeneous state, and in the other the walls are continually generated and annihilated. This dynamic behavior is caused by the fact that walls of opposite chirality move spontaneously with opposite velocity.  相似文献

The total velocity of solitary flexural waves nonlinearly increases with an increase in the velocity of domain walls and becomes saturated at a level of 20 km s?1; the smaller the wave amplitude, the more rapidly saturation occurs. Counter collisions of solitary flexural waves lead to the formation of a single wave with a difference amplitude moving in the same direction as the wave with a larger amplitude. The experimental results confirm that solitary flexural waves accompany antiferromagnetic vortices at domain walls in yttrium orthoferrite.  相似文献

We present a new mechanism that allows the stable existence of domain walls between oppositely traveling waves in pattern-forming systems far from onset. It involves a nonlinear mode coupling that results directly from the nonlinearities in the underlying momentum balance. Our work provides the first observation and explanation of such strongly nonlinearly driven domain walls that separate structured states by a phase generating or annihilating defect. Furthermore, the influence of a symmetry breaking externally imposed flow on the wave domains and the domain walls is studied. The results are obtained for vortex waves in the Taylor-Couette system by combining numerical simulations of the full Navier-Stokes equations and experimental measurements.  相似文献

Domain walls in nanoconstrictions are investigated with a focus on thermal properties. In general, the magnetization component perpendicular to the easy axis which in a domain wall usually occurs has a value different from the easy-axis bulk magnetization value with a separate phase transition at a critical temperature below the Curie temperature. Since this effect is the more pronounced the smaller the domain wall width is, we investigate it especially in domain walls with a confined geometry, using analytical arguments, mean-field theory, and Monte Carlo simulations. Our findings may contribute to the understanding of magnetoresistive effects in domain walls with sizes of only a few atomic layers, as, e.g., in nanocontacts or nanoconstrictions.  相似文献

Forced motion of a domain wall in the presence of fluctuations of external magnetic field and those of the parameters of the magnetic medium is studied. Calculations for the models of magnetic systems described by the sine-Gordon and Landau-Lifshitz equations are presented. It is shown that the driven motion of domain walls is characterized by the time-independent velocity distribution function which is used to calculate various statistical characteristics of the domain wall. Analysis of the mean velocity of the steady motion of the domain wall leads to the conclusion that the presence of a fluctuating magnetic field results in an increase of the effective relaxation constant of the magnetic system. In case of the sine-Gordon model the mean radiation power accompanying the forced motion of the domain wall is calculated. Inelastic interactions of two domain walls of opposite polarities are described.  相似文献

The domain walls in ultrathin ferromagnetic films with uniaxial magnetic anisotropy are investigated theoretically. It is shown that taking account of the magnetodipole and magnetoelastic interactions leads to the appearance of an effective anisotropy with respect to the direction of the normal to the plane of the wall. The existence of a new type of domain walls—“corner” walls, at which the magnetization vector is rotated in the plane making a certain angle, which depends on the film parameters, with the plane of the domain wall and the static and dynamic properties of these walls are investigated. The dependence of the limiting velocity of the domain walls on the film thickness is found. Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 112, 1476–1489 (October 1997)  相似文献
