Using the Fokas unified method, we consider the initial boundary value problem for the Fokas-Lenells equation on the finite interval. We present that the Neumann boundary data can be explicitly expressed by Dirichlet boundary conditions prescribed, and extend the idea of the linearizable boundary conditions for equations on the half line to Fokas-Lenells equation on the finite interval.  相似文献

For a nonautonomous system of linear advanced differential equations, we find asymptotic formulas analytically determining how the regular solutions of this system on an interval of the positive half-line depend on the admissible error. The problem is solved in the following setting: additional smoothness conditions are imposed on the initial functions, but the boundary conditions providing a continuous extension of the solutions of the Cauchy problem to an interval of the positive half-line are violated.  相似文献

The general nonlinear self-adjoint eigenvalue problem for a differential algebraic system of equations on a half-line is examined. The boundary conditions are chosen so that the solution to this system is bounded at infinity. Under certain assumptions, the original problem can be reduced to a self-adjoint system of differential equations. After certain transformations, this system, combined with the boundary conditions, forms a nonlinear self-adjoint eigenvalue problem. Requirements for the appropriate boundary conditions are clarified. Under the additional assumption that the initial data are monotone functions of the spectral parameter, a method is proposed for calculating the number of eigenvalues of the original problem that lie on a prescribed interval of this parameter.  相似文献

In this paper, we address some fundamental issues concerning “time marching” numerical schemes for computing steady state solutions of boundary value problems for nonlinear partial differential equations. Simple examples are used to illustrate that even theoretically convergent schemes can produce numerical steady state solutions that do not correspond to steady state solutions of the boundary value problem. This phenomenon must be considered in any computational study of nonunique solutions to partial differential equations that govern physical systems such as fluid flows. In particular, numerical calculations have been used to “suggest” that certain Euler equations do not have a unique solution. For Burgers' equation on a finite spatial interval with Neumann boundary conditions the only steady state solutions are constant (in space) functions. Moreover, according to recent theoretical results, for any initial condition the corresponding solution to Burgers' equation must converge to a constant as t → ∞. However, we present a convergent finite difference scheme that produces false nonconstant numerical steady state “solutions.” These erroneous solutions arise out of the necessary finite floating point arithmetic inherent in every digital computer. We suggest the resulting numerical steady state solution may be viewed as a solution to a “nearby” boundary value problem with high sensitivity to changes in the boundary conditions. Finally, we close with some comments on the relevance of this paper to some recent “numerical based proofs” of the existence of nonunique solutions to Euler equations and to aerodynamic design.  相似文献

We study the dynamics of a one-dimensional non-linear and non-local drift-diffusion equation set in the half-line, with the coupling involving the trace value on the boundary. The initial mass M of the density determines the behaviour of the equation: attraction to self-similar profile, to a steady state of finite time, blow-up for supercritical mass. Using the logarithmic Sobolev and the HWI inequalities we obtain a rate of convergence for the sub-critical and critical mass cases. Moreover, we prove a comparison principle on the equation obtained after space integration. This concentration-comparison principle allows proving blow-up of solutions for large initial data without any monotonicity assumption on the initial data.  相似文献

The choice of a differential diffusion operator with discontinuous coefficients that corresponds to a finite flow velocity and a finite concentration is substantiated. For the equation with a uniformly elliptic operator and a nonzero diffusion coefficient, conditions are established for the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the corresponding Cauchy problem. For the diffusion equation with degeneration on a half-line, it is proved that the Cauchy problem with an arbitrary initial condition has a unique solution if and only if there is no flux from the degeneration domain to the ellipticity domain of the operator. Under this condition, a sequence of solutions to regularized problems is proved to converge uniformly to the solution of the degenerate problem in L 1(R) on each interval.  相似文献

The paper studies the global existence, asymptotic behavior and blowup of solutions to the initial boundary value problem for a class of nonlinear wave equations with dissipative term. It proves that under rather mild conditions on nonlinear terms and initial data the above-mentioned problem admits a global weak solution and the solution decays exponentially to zero as t→+∞, respectively, in the states of large initial data and small initial energy. In particular, in the case of space dimension N=1, the weak solution is regularized to be a unique generalized solution. And if the conditions guaranteeing the global existence of weak solutions are not valid, then under the opposite conditions, the solutions of above-mentioned problem blow up in finite time. And an example is given.  相似文献

We consider the mixed initial–boundary value problem for the Benjamin–Ono equation on a half-line. We study traditionally important problems of the theory of nonlinear partial differential equations, such as global in time existence of solutions to the initial–boundary value problem and the asymptotic behavior of solutions for large time.  相似文献

We consider some initial–boundary value problems for non‐linear equations of thermoviscoelasticity in the three‐dimensional case. Since, we are interested to prove global existence we consider spherically symmetric problem. We examine the Neumann conditions for the temperature and either the Neumann or the Dirichlet boundary conditions for the elasticity equations. Using the energy method, we are able to obtain some energy estimates in appropriate Sobolev spaces enough to prove existence for all time without any restrictions on data. Due to the spherical symmetricity the constants in the above estimates increase with time so the existence for all finite times is proved only. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the Elastic membrane equation with memory term and nonlinear boundary damping.Under some appropriate assumptions on the relaxation function h and with certain initial data, the global existence of solutions and a general decay for the energy are established using the multiplier technique. Also,we show that a nonlinear source of polynomial type is able to force solutions to blow up in finite time even in presence of a nonlinear damping.  相似文献

In this paper we study initial boundary value problems of the Camassa–Holm equation on the half line and on a compact interval. Using rigorously the conservation of symmetry, it is possible to convert these boundary value problems into Cauchy problems for the Camassa–Holm equation on the line and on the circle, respectively. Applying thus known results for the latter equations we first obtain the local well-posedness of the initial boundary value problems under consideration. Then we present some blow-up and global existence results for strong solutions. Finally we investigate global and local weak solutions for the equation on the half line and on a compact interval, respectively. An interesting result of our analysis shows that the Camassa–Holm equation on a compact interval possesses no nontrivial global classical solutions.  相似文献

We study the initial–boundary value problem for the Vlasov–Poisson–Fokker–Planck equations in an interval with absorbing boundary conditions. We first prove the existence of weak solutions of the linearized equation in an interval with absorbing boundary conditions. Moreover, the weak solution converges to zero exponentially in time. Then we extend the above results to the fully nonlinear Vlasov–Poisson–Fokker–Planck equations in an interval with absorbing boundary conditions; the existence and the longtime behavior of weak solutions. Finally, we prove that the weak solution is actually a classical solution by showing the hypoellipticity of the solution away from the grazing set and the Hölder continuity of the solution up to the grazing set.  相似文献

This paper employs the weighted energy method to derive estimates for the dynamic behavior of solutions to boundary and initial boundary value problems with nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. In particular, the method is applied to the heat and Laplace equations in a bounded or unbounded region. Extensions to related equations are also studied. Similar estimates but for the spatial behavior is obtained for the heat equation and the backward in time heat equation. Results for blow-up in finite time of solutions to certain nonlinear equations are generalized to include nonhomogeneous boundary conditions, while solutions that vanish on part of the boundary are briefly discussed in the final section.  相似文献

In this article, we are interested by a system of heat equations with initial condition and zero Dirichlet boundary conditions. We prove a finite‐time blow‐up result for a large class of solutions with positive initial energy.  相似文献

In this paper, a high-order iterative scheme is established in order to get a convergent sequence at a rate of order N(N?1) to a local unique weak solution of a nonlinear Kirchhoff-Carrier wave equation associated with mixed nonhomogeneous conditions - the boundary conditions are Dirichlet in one part and Robin in other part of boundary. On the other hand, some numerical results were presented.  相似文献

Recently, Bohner and Sun [9] introduced basic elements of a Weyl-Titchmarsh theory into the study of discrete symplectic systems. We extend this development through the introduction of Weyl-Titchmarsh functions together with a preliminary study of their properties. A limit point criterion is described and characterized. Green’s function for the half-line is introduced as a limit of such functions in the regular case and half-line solutions obtained are seen to satisfy λ-dependent boundary conditions at infinity.  相似文献

Many physical phenomena are modeled by nonclassical hyperbolic boundary value problems with nonlocal boundary conditions. In this paper, the problem of solving the one-dimensional wave equation subject to given initial and non-local boundary conditions is considered. These non-local conditions arise mainly when the data on the boundary cannot be measured directly. Several finite difference methods with low order have been proposed in other papers for the numerical solution of this one dimensional non-classic boundary value problem. Here, we derive a new family of efficient three-level algorithms with higher order to solve the wave equation and also use a Simpson formula with higher order to approximate the integral conditions. Additionally, the fourth-order formula is also adapted to nonlinear equations, in particular to the well-known nonlinear Klein–Gordon equations which many physical problems can be modeled with. Numerical results are presented and are compared with some existing methods showing the efficiency of the new algorithms.  相似文献

We consider an initial boundary value problem for the system of the Maxwell equations in a bounded domain with smooth boundary on a finite time interval with new boundary conditions with memory. In appropriate function spaces, we define and study the nonselfadjoint operator that is generated by the Maxwell operator under a boundary condition with memory. Using the operator method, we prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for a solution to the initial boundary value problem.  相似文献

We obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of a principal solution of a nonlinear Volterra integral equation of the second kind on the half-line and on a finite interval. We suggest a method for computing the boundary of an interval outside which the solution can blow up.  相似文献

We consider the problem on nonzero solutions of the Schrödinger equation on the half-line with potential that implicitly depends on the wave function via a nonlinear ordinary differential equation of the second order under zero boundary conditions for the wave function and the condition that the potential is zero at the beginning of the interval and its derivative is zero at infinity. The problem is reduced to the analysis and investigation of solutions of the Cauchy problem for a system of two nonlinear second-order ordinary differential equations with initial conditions depending on two parameters. We show that if the solution of the Cauchy problem for some parameter values can be extended to the entire half-line, then there exists a nonzero solution of the original problem with finitely many zeros.  相似文献
