A device has been developed for the measurement of copper(II) ions (Cu2+) in aqueous medium. The device reported here is an electrochemical transistor which consists of two platinum electrodes separated by 100 μm spacing and bridged with an anodically grown film of polycarbazole. Polycarbazole film (undoped form) is observed to be highly selective for the Cu(II) ions. In a completed device, the conductivity of the polycarbazole film changes on addition of Cu(II) ions. The change in conductivity is attributed to the conformational changes in the polymer phase on occupation of the Cu(II) ions, without affecting electron/proton transfer. The device turns on by adding 2.5 × 10−6 M Cu(II) ions and reaches a saturation region beyond 10−4 M Cu(II) ion concentrations. In the above concentration range, the device response [I D vs. log Cu(II) ion concentration] is linear. The selectivity of the device for other metal ions such as Cu(I), Ni(II), Co(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Zn(II) and Pb(II) is also studied. Received: 6 April 1999 / Accepted: 20 August 1999  相似文献

The quenching of the fluorescence of three anthropogenic fulvic acids (FA) provoked by Cu(II) (pH 6.0), Fe(III) (pH 4.0) and UO22+ (pH 3.5), was analyzed by a non-linear method and by Stern-Volmer plots. The FA samples were extracted from composted sewage sludges (csFA), composted municipal wastes (mwFA) and composted livestock wastes (lsFA). Synchronous-scan fluorescence (SyF) spectra were collected as a function of metal ion concentration. Spectral data were treated by a self-modeling mixture analysis method (SIMPLISMA) to detect the SyF spectral band with the strongest quenching and to calculate the corresponding quenching profile. The analysis of these profiles by a non-linear method allowed the estimation of conditional stability constants (K) and of the percentage of non-complexing fluorophores. The same quantitative information was obtained by the modified Stern-Volmer equation taking into account the existence of fluorophores that do not participate in the complexation. Good agreement was found between the results of the two procedures. The log K calculated by the non-linear method were (standard deviation in parenthesis): csFA, Cu(II), 4.22 (5); Fe(III), 5.0 (1); UO22+, 5.2 (2); mwFA, Cu(II), 4.21 (3); Fe(III), 5.6 (2); UO22+, 4.7 (3); lsFA, Cu(II), 4.51 (8); Fe(III), 5.5 (2); UO22+, 3.6 (2).  相似文献

Poly (acrylamide-acrylic acid-dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate), p(AM-AA-DMAEM) and Poly(acrylamide-acrylic acid)-ethylenediaminetetracetic acid disodium, p(AM-AA)-EDTANa2 were prepared by gamma radiation-induced template polymerization technique and used for the separation of Ga (III) from Cu (II), Ni (II), and Zn (II) in aqueous media. The effect of pH and contact time on the separation process was studied. The optimum pH value for the separation process is 3–3.5. The result shows that Ga (III) is first extracted while Cu (II), Ni (II) and Zn(II) are slightly extracted at this pH value. The recovery of metals using HCl, HNO3 and H2SO4 has been studied. The resins may be regenerated using 2M HCl solutions.   相似文献

Silica gel-bound amines phase modified with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (p-DMABD) was prepared based on chemical immobilization technique. The product (SG-p-DMABD) was used as an adsorbent for the solid-phase extraction (SPE) Cr(III), Cu(II), Ni(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) prior to their determination by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). The uptake behaviors of SG-p-DMABD for extracting these metal ions were studied using batch and column procedures. For the batch method, the optimum pH range for Cr(III) and Ni(II) extraction was ≥ 3, for Cu(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) extraction it was ≥ 4. For simultaneous enrichment and determination of all the metals on the newly designed adsorbent, the pH value if 4.0 was selected. All the metal ions can be desorbed with 2.0 mL of 0.5 mol L− 1 of HCl. The results indicate that SG-p-DMABD has rapid adsorption kinetics using the batch method. The adsorption capacity for these metal ions is in the range of 0.40-1.15 mmol g− 1, with a high enrichment factor of 125. The presence of commonly coexisting ions does not affect the sorption capacities. The detection limits of the method were found to be 1.10, 0.69, 0.99, 1.10 and 6.50 μg L− 1 for Cr(III), Cu(II), Ni(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II), respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the method under optimum conditions was 5.0% (n = 8) for all metal ions. The method was applied to the preconcentration of Cr(III), Cu(II), Ni(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) from the certified reference material (GBW 08301, river sediment) and water samples with satisfactory results.

A fluorescent aminoacid was designed for selective and sensitive detection of Cu(II) in aqueous solution. The designing of this Cu(II) fluorescent chemosensing molecule, N ± (1‐naphthyl). aminoacetic acid (NAA), was based on the binding of Cu(II) to aminoacetic acid and the novel charge transfer photophysics of 1‐aminonaphthalenes. The fluorescence of NAA was found quenched by Cu (II) and several other metal ions of similar electronic structure such as Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II). The quenching was shown to occur via electron transfer within the metal‐NAA complex, which required an optimal combination of high binding affinity and favorable redox properties of the components in the metal‐NAA complex and hence afforded selective fluorometric detection of Cu(II). The calibration graph obeyed Stern‐Volmer theory and was shown for Cu(II) over the range of 0–2.75 ± 10–4 mol/L. The quenching constant of Cu(II) was measured as 8.0 ± 103 mol/L that was two orders of magnitude higher than those of Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II). The 3SD limit of detection for Cu(II) was 8.00 ± 10?6 mol/L with a coefficient of variation of 1.65%. Linear range for quantitative detection of Cu(II) was 2.67 ± 10?5‐2.75 ± 10?4 mol/L. The method was applied to synthetic sample measurements which gave recoveries of 105%‐112%.  相似文献

We have synthesized two ditopic ligands for selective extraction of copper(II) nitrate. We also synthesized one cation-only binding analog for comparison. All three ligands were characterized by conventional techniques. Competitive two-phase metal ion solvent extraction experiments were performed at 25 °C over a period of 24 h. These ligands showed significant selectivity for Cu(II) ions, having the ditopic ligands extract 81 and 73% of the Cu(II) ions in a solution of different metal ions {Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II)} at pH 5.09. Competitive transport experiments (water/chloroform/water) were undertaken employing each ligand separately as the ionophore in the membrane (chloroform) phase. No metal ion transport was observed, but a large concentration of Cu(II) was present in the membrane phase. Competitive anion extraction and transport were carried out with the ditopic ligands, yielding selective extraction and transport of nitrate. Furthermore, a pH isotherm of the best ditopic ligand (H2L2) with Cu(II) was determined from pH 1.0 to 6.0, producing a pH½ value of approximately 2.6. Finally, crystal structures of the ditopic ligands complexed with Cu(II) were determined and refined. The coordination geometry around the metal centers are distorted square planar and the Cu(II)-donor bond lengths fall within the normal range.  相似文献

Heterobi- and tri-nuclear complexes [LMM'Cl] and [(LM) 2 M'](M=Ni or Cu and M'=Mn, Fe or Co) have been synthesised. The heteronuclear complexes were prepared by stepwise reactions using two mononuclear Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of the general formula [HLM]·1/2H 2 O, as ligands towards the metal ions, Mn(II), Fe(III) and Co(II). The asymmetrical pentadentate (N 2 O 3 ) Schiff-base ligands used were prepared by condensing acetoacetylphenol and ethylenediamine, molar ratio 1 1, to yield a half-unit compound which was further condensed with either salicylaldehyde or naphthaldehyde to yield the ligands H 3 L 1 and H 3 L 2 which possess two dissimilar coordination sites, an inner four-coordinate N 2 O 2 donor set and an outer three-coordinated O 2 O set. 1 H NMR and IR spectra indicate that the Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions are bonded to the inner N 2 O 2 sites of the ligands leaving their outer O 2 O sites vacant for further coordination. Different types of products were obtained according to the type of metal ion. These products differ in stoichiometry according to the type of ligand in the parent compound. Electronic spectra and magnetic moments indicate that the structures of the parent Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes are square-planar while the geometry around Fe(III), Mn(II) and Co(II) in their products are octahedral as elucidated from IR, UV-visible, ESR, 1 H NMR, mass spectrometry and magnetic moments.  相似文献

The exploitation of the Ni(III)/Ni(II) transition as a means of quantifying the concentration of nickel within industrial samples was assessed. The methodology relies upon the reagentless electrodeposition of Ni onto a glassy carbon electrode and the subsequent oxidative conversion of the metallic layer to Ni(III). The analytical signal is derived from a cathodic stripping protocol in which the reduction of the Ni(III) layer to Ni(II) is monitored through the use of square wave voltammetry. The procedure was refined through the introduction of an ultrasonic source which served to both enhance the deposition of nickel and to remove the nickel hydroxide layer that results from the measurement process. A well-defined stripping peak was observed at +0.7 V (vs. AgAgCl) with the response found to be linear over the range 50 nM to 1 μM (based on a 30 s deposition time). Other metal ions such as Cu(II), Mn(II), Cr(III), Pb(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Fe(III) and Co(II) did not interfere with the response when present in hundred fold excess. The viability of the technique was evaluated through the determination of nickel within a commercial copper nickel alloy and validated through an independent comparison with a standard ICP-AES protocol.  相似文献

A partial least squares (PLS-1) calibration model based on kinetic—spectrophotometric measurement, for the simultaneous determination of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) ions is described. The method was based on the difference in the rate of the reaction between Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions with 1-(2-pyridylazo)2-naphthol in a pH 5.8 buffer solution and in micellar media at 25°C. The absorption kinetic profiles of the solutions were monitored by measuring the absorbance at 570 nm at 2 s intervals during the time range of 0–10 min after initiation of the reaction. The experimental calibration matrix for the partial least squares (PLS-1) model was designed with 30 samples. The cross-validation method was used for selecting the number of factors. The results showed that simultaneous determination could be performed in the range 0.1-2 μg mL−1 for each cation. The proposed method was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) ions in water and in synthetic alloy samples.   相似文献

The effects of pH have been examined on the extraction of the title ions by complexing with LIX-64N in kerosene. The extent of metal extraction as a function of pH is: Cu(II) < Fe(III) < Ni(II) < Zn(II) < Co(II). Stripping of all metal ions but cobalt with sulphuric acid from loaded kerosene complexing solutions is easily accomplished. Oxidation of Co(II) to Co(III) in the organic phase prevents stripping of this metal ion.  相似文献

In a search for environment-friendly metal chelating ligands for industrial applications, the protonation and complex formation equilibria of N-bis[2-(1,2-dicarboxyethoxy)ethyl]aspartic acid (BCA6) with Fe(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) ions in aqueous 0.1 M NaCl solution were studied at 25°C by potentiometric titration. The model for complexation and the stability constants of different complexes were determined for each metal ion using SUPERQUAD. In all cases, complex formation was dominated by stable ML4? complexes.  相似文献

A disposable paper-based sensor (PBS) is described for the determination of Cu(II) in natural and waste waters at approximately 2 cents per measurement. The device makes use of a polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) to provide the selectivity for Cu(II). The PIM consists of 40 wt% di(2-ethlyhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) as the carrier, 10 wt% dioctyl phthalate (DOP) as a plasticizer, 49.5 wt% poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) as the base polymer and 0.5 wt% (m m−1) 1-(2′-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) as the colourimetric reagent. High selectivity under mildly acidic conditions (HCl, pH 2.0) is achieved for Cu(II) in the presence of frequently encountered metal ions in natural and waste waters such as Fe(III), Al(III), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), Ca(II), Mg(II), and Ni(II).  相似文献

Reaction of the ligand 2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole (DPBTZ) with Hg(SCN)2, Tl(NO3)3, CuCl, and PdCl2 gives complexes with stoichiometry [Hg(DPBTZ)(SCN)2], [Tl(DPBTZ)(NO3)3], [Cu(DPBTZ)(H2O)Cl], and [Pd(DPBTZ)Cl2]. The new complexes were characterized by elemental analyses and infrared spectroscopy. The crystal structure of [Hg(DPBTZ)(SCN)2] determined by X-ray crystallography. The Hg atom in the title monomeric complex, (2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole)mercury(II)bisthiocyanate, [Hg(C18H12N2S2)(SCN)2], is four-coordinate having an irregular tetrahedral geometry composed of two S atoms of thiocyanate ions [Hg-S 2.4025(15) and 2.4073(15) Å] and two N atoms of 2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole ligand [Hg-N 2.411(4) and 2.459(4) Å]. The bond angle S(3)-Hg(1)-S(4) of 147.46(5)° has the greatest derivation from ideal tetrahedral geometry. Intermolecular interaction between Hg(1) and two S atoms of two neighboring molecules, 3.9318(15) and 3.9640(18) Å, make the Hg(1) distort from a tetrahedron to a disordered octahedron. The attempts for preparation complexes of Tl(I), Pb(II), Bi(III), Cd(II) ions with 2,2′-diphenyl-4,4′-bithiazole ligand were not successful and also the attempts for preparation complexes of 4,4′,5,5′-tetraphenyl-2,2′-bithizole ligand with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Co(III), Mn(II), Mn(III), Fe(II), Fe(III), Cr(III), Zn(II), Tl(III), Pb(II), Hg(II), Cu(I), Pd(II) were not successful. This point can be regarded as the initial electron withdrawing of phenyl rings and also their spatial steric effects.  相似文献

A new chelating matrix has been prepared by immobilising sulfanilamide (SA) on silica gel (SG) surface modified with 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane as a sorbent for the solid-phase extraction (SPE) Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II). The determination of metal ions in aqueous solutions was carried out by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Experimental conditions for effective sorption of trace levels of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II) were optimised with respect to different experimental parameters using the batch and column procedures. The presence of common coexisting ions does not affect the sorption capacities. The maximum sorption capacity of the sorbent at optimum conditions was found to be 34.91, 19.07 and 23.62 mg g?1 for Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II), respectively. The detection limit of the method defined by IUPAC was found to be 1.60, 0.50 and 0.61 µg L?1 for Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II), respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the method under optimum conditions was 4.0% (n = 8). The method was applied to the recovery of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II) from the certified reference material (GBW 08301, river sediment) and to the simultaneous determination of these cations in different water samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

The cadmium (II) or lead (II) complex formation with two poly(acrylic acids) of high molecular weight (Mw=2.5×105 and 3×106) was investigated in dilute aqueous solution (NaNO3 0.1 mol l−1; 25°C). Potentiometric titrations were carried out to determine the stability constants of the MA and MA2 complex species formed. Bjerrum’s method, modified by Gregor et al. (J. Phys. Chem. 59 (1955) 34–39), for the study of polymeric acids was used. The results were compared to those previously obtained in the same conditions with copper (II) and nickel (II) . It appeared that the two polymers under study present similar binding properties and that the stability constants of the complex species formed increased in the following order, depending on the metal ion: Ni(II)β102 was found to be close to 7.0) and allowed the formation of the predominant PbA2 species in a quite large pH domain. Finally, the greater stability of PAA complexes compared to those of their monomeric analogs, glutaric and acetic acids, was confirmed.  相似文献

Abstract

In the first part of this work, polyethyleneimine methylenephosphonic acid (PEIMPA) was used as an effective sorbent for solid-phase extraction of Pb(II) ions from an aqueous solution. Conditions for effective sorption are optimized with respect to different experimental parameters in a batch process. The results showed that the amount of extraction decreases with solution pH in the range between 3.5 and 5.8. The sorption capacity is 609 mg·g?1. The second part of the study focuses on the recovery of Pb(II) from a synthesized binary solution of Pb(II)–Zn(II) and from real Zn(II)-electrolyzed wastewaters. The presence of Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Fe(III), Ni(II), and Zn(II) in large concentrations has a significantly negative effect on extraction properties.  相似文献

A solid-phase absorbent obtained by the immobilization of Aliquat 336 chloride in poly(vinyl chloride) is reported to extract preferentially Co(II) from its 7 M hydrochloric acid solutions containing Ni(II). Under the experimental conditions there was no extraction of Ni(II) which allowed the complete separation of these two ions. Co(II) was rapidly and quantitatively back-extracted with deionised water. A mechanism for the extraction of Co(II) is proposed based on the formation of the ion-pair A+[HCoCl4] where A+ is the Aliquat 336 cation. Fe(III) and Cd(II), usually present in Co(II) and Ni(II) samples, were also extracted into the solid-phase absorbent though at a slower rate than Co(II) and they did not interfere with the separation of Co(II) from Ni(II). It was also demonstrated that this approach allowed the complete separation of Ni(II) from the other metal ions mentioned above.  相似文献

Polymeric oxaaza macrocycles (PEI-OAM) are constructed on poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) by Ni(II)-template alkylation of PEI with diethyleneglycol ditosylate. The Kf values for Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) complexes of PEI–OAM are measured at pH 3.5–10 at 25°C. At pH 7, log Kf values for these complexes are 9–15, indicating that the polymeric oxaaza macrocycles can readily reduce concentrations of these metal ions below ppb level. Metal binding ability of nonpolymeric oxaaza macrocyclic compounds reported in the literature decreases rapidly as pH is lowered below 7, whereas that of PEI–OAM decreases to lesser extents. This is attributed to the electrostatic effects exerted by the ammonium ions of PEI backbone. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 35: 527–532, 1997.  相似文献

New metal complexes of Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) with salicylidine-2-aminobenzimidazole (SABI) are synthesized and their physicochemical properties are investigated using elemental and thermal analyses, IR, conductometric, solid reflectance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The base reacts with these metal ions to give 1:1 (Metal:SABI) complexes; in cases of Fe(III), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) ions; and 1:2 (Metal:SABI) complexes; in case of Ni(II) ion. The conductance data reveal that Fe(III) complex is 2:1 electrolyte, Co(II) is 1:2 electrolyte, Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes are 1:1 electrolytes while Ni(II) is non-electrolyte. IR spectra showed that the ligand is coordinated to the metal ions in a terdentate mannar with O, N, N donor sites of the phenloic -OH, azomethine -N and benzimidazole -N3. Magnetic and solid reflectance spectra are used to infer the coordinating capacity of the ligand and the geometrical structure of these complexes. The thermal decomposition of the complexes is studied and indicates that not only the coordinated and/or crystallization water is lost but also that the decomposition of the ligand from the complexes is necessary to interpret the successive mass loss. Different thermodynamic activation parameters are also reported, using Coats-Redfern method. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献
