Abstract

The generation of near-infrared and intense visible light through stimulated multi-wave mixing processes in single-mode silica-based optical fibers pumped by a Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:YAG laser operated at 1.319 μm is described. The experimental results show that intense infrared light around 1.2 μm is produced via selp-hase-matched four-photon mixing at the minimum group velocity dispersion region of pure SiO2?core and P2O5?doped silica fibers. In the visible spectral region, from 580 nm to 600 nm, 20 W peak power 100-ps pulses were generated by pumping single spans of single-mode P2O5?doped and undoped SiO2?core fibers with 1.319-μm laser pulses. The signal light generated in such fibers propagated in the LP02 fiber mode and exhibited a threshold power that depended upon the fiber length and a critical length that was power dependent. Also, it exhibited an asymmetrical spectrum of a few nanometers bandwidth, with a long tail toward high frequencies. For GeO2?doped silica-based fibers, a multiple-wavelength visible signal propagating in several high-order fiber modes was generated.  相似文献

We report on the use of a single-polarization, 41 μm core-diameter, intrinsically single-mode photonic crystal fiber (PCF) to obtain high peak power (up to 800 kW), 1 ns-duration pulses in a 100:1 linearly polarized, intrinsically single-mode (M2  1.2) output. By transmitting the PCF output through nonlinear crystals, we also obtained efficient second, third, and fourth harmonic generation resulting in peak power >400 kW in the visible (green, 531 nm) and 200 kW in the UV (265.5 nm). To our knowledge these results represent the highest peak power obtained in a linearly polarized output from a fiber and the highest peak power in the visible and UV obtained through harmonic generation of the direct fiber output.  相似文献

本文采用双锥光纤与微球腔耦合系统研究成分为 55.93P2O5-3.57Al2O3-15Na2CO3-20SiO2的掺Yb3+ 磷硅酸盐微球腔的合作上转换发光、下转换激光振荡及其级联拉曼激光振荡等发光特性. 本实验采用中心波长为976 nm、线宽为0.15 nm的单纵模半导体激光作为抽运光源,在掺Yb3+磷硅酸盐微球腔中测得中心波长为476.1 nm的蓝色合作上转换荧光,并运用合适的理论模型来解释该合作上转换产生11.9 nm蓝移效应的原因. 同时,在1058.26 nm和1060.02–1126.08 nm处分别测得了由于微球腔谐振产生的下转换单纵模及多纵模激光振荡. 另外,本文首次在同一微球腔中测得了由Yb3+下转换激光激发产生的多级级联拉曼激光. 在抽运功率为8.53 mW时,产生的级联拉曼激光可以达到两级,且波长延伸至1300 nm附近. 关键词: 3+磷硅酸盐微球腔')" href="#">掺Yb3+磷硅酸盐微球腔 合作上转换 下转换激光 自激发级联拉曼激光  相似文献

Nd2O3-doped 43Bi2O3xB2O3–(57−x)SiO2–1.0Nd2O3 (x=57, 47, 39, 28.5, 19.5, 10, 0 mol%) bismuth glasses were prepared by the conventional melt-quenching method, and the Nd3+: 4F3/24I13/2 fluorescence properties had been studied in an oxide system Bi2O3–B2O3–SiO2. The Judd–Ofelt analysis for Nd3+ ions in bismuth boron silicate glasses was also performed on the basis of absorption spectrum, and the transition probabilities, excited-state lifetimes, the fluorescence branching ratios, quantum efficiency and the stimulated emission cross-sections of 4F3/24I13/2 transition were calculated and discussed. The stimulated emission cross-sections of 1.3 μm were quite large due to a large refractive index of the host. Although the effective bandwidths decreased with increasing SiO2 content, quantum efficiencies and stimulated emission cross-sections enhanced largely with increasing SiO2 content.  相似文献

采用化学气相沉积结合气相/液相复合掺杂方式制备30/600 μm掺镱双包层光纤,石英纤芯中的掺杂组分为Yb2O3, Al2O3,P2O5。基于976 nm发光二极管反向抽运方式,构建全光纤化的主控振荡器功率放大器结构对增益光纤进行测试。实验中,种子源功率为189 W,当泵浦总功率为4747 W时,激光输出功率为4120 W,放大级光光效率为85%,3 dB带宽为1.6 nm。激光器连续工作1 h,激光功率稳定在4100 W,未发生明显的功率衰退现象。  相似文献

Experimental researches on frequency upconverted processes in Er3+ and Er3+/Yb3+-doped silica optical fibers are reported. These processes include frequency upconverted fluorescent light at wavelength of 466 (468) nm in Er3+/GeO2/SiO2 (Er3+/A13+/GeO2/SiO2) optical fibers and at wavelengths of 467, 546, and 667 nm in Yb3+/Er3+/GeO2/SiO2 optical fibers pumped by CW 1064 nm radiation, second harmonic generation (1064 nm-532 nm) with high peak power conversion efficiencies in Er3+ and Er3+/Yb3+-doped optical fibers, and 977 nm resonance enhanced antistokes of stimulated four-photon mixing in an Er3+ doped optical fiber pumped by high peak power 1064 nm radiation.  相似文献

We demonstrate the potential of a high-gain Yb-fiber amplifier system to provide ultrashort pulses with high energies. 100 μJ pulses generated at a repetition rate of 32 kHz exhibit nearly diffraction limited output (M2≈1.7) at a 1060 nm center wavelength. Using chirped pulse amplification, temporally streched laser pulses from a femtosecond oscillator could be compressed after amplification to subpicosecond pulse duration. The achievable intensities are high enough to create plasmas which can efficiently convert laser light to the extreme ultraviolet radiation. In a multimode Yb-doped fiber amplifier we obtained average powers of up to 22 W and single pulse energies up to 130 μJ.  相似文献

We report the generation of multi-wavelength visible light through amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in Er3+-doped and Er3+/Yb3+-doped germanosilicate single-mode optical fiber pumped by a Nd:YLF laser at 1313nm. In the Er3+-doped fiber, the intense multi-wavelength blue emission hnes around 463-510nm corre-spond to transitions born 2G7/2 etc. excited states to the metastable 4I13/2 state, and their pumping mechanists is aecomphshed by a stepwise four-photon absorption. Some emission hnes in this wavelength region are attributed to the three-wave sum-frequency process of 1313 and 1530nm (corresponds to 4I13/2 -4I15/2). The intense green emission hnes at 525 and 540 nm are also observed in the Er3+-doped fiber. In the Er3+/Yb3+-doped fiber the blue and green lines are very weak compared with those in the Er3+-doped fiber.  相似文献

We report on the efficient frequency doubling of an actively mode-locked Ti: Al2O3 laser. The laser output was in the form of pulses of 6–15 ps duration at a 240 MHz repetition rate, tunable from 737 nm to 806 nm. Using a 7 mm long Brewster cut crystal of LiIO3 we have measured conversion efficiencies of up to 42% in the form of picosecond pulses tunable from 369–403 nm. The maximum generated power in the blue was 194 mW at 381 nm.  相似文献

A wavelength filter consisting of single-mode and few-mode fibers is investigated numerically. A simple finite-difference beam-propagation method, in which a transparent boundary condition can be imposed, is developed for circularly symmetric waveguides. After confirming the validity of the numerical method by the mode-mismatch loss, we calculate the propagating field in the fiber wavelength filter, in which interference between LP01, and LP02 modes occurs. To improve the filtering operation, a depressed-index fiber is employed for the few-mode fiber. The effects of the radius and refractive index of the depressed section on the transmission power are revealed and discussed. Power is suppressed to less than 0.1% at 1.3 μm, while maintaining power transmission of more than 85% at 1.55 μm. It is also found that the filtering operation shifts to higher wavelengths as the input power is increased when we choose a self-focusing nonlinear material in the depressed section.  相似文献

Supercontinuum light with a spectrum more than two octaves broad (370-1545 nm at the 20-dB level) was generated in a standard telecommunications fiber by femtosecond pulses from an unamplified Ti:sapphire laser. The fiber had been tapered to a diameter of :2mum over a 90-mm length. The pulse energy was 3.9 nJ (average power, 300 mW). This source of high-intensity single-mode white light should find widespread applications in frequency metrology and spectroscopy, especially since no unconventional fibers are needed.  相似文献

The effects of annealing on structure and laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) of Ta2O5/SiO2 dielectric mirrors were investigated. Ta2O5/SiO2 multilayer was prepared by ion beam sputtering (IBS), then annealed in air under the temperature from 100 to 400 °C. Microstructure of the samples was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Absorption of the multilayer was measured by surface thermal lensing (STL) technique. The laser-induced damage threshold was assessed using 1064 nm free pulsed laser at a pulse length of 220 μs.

It was found that the center wavelength shifted to long wavelength gradually as the annealing temperature increased, and kept its non-crystalline structure even after annealing. The absorbance of the reflectors decreased after annealing. A remarkable increase of the laser-induced damage threshold was found when the annealing temperature was above 250 °C.  相似文献

Low-loss glass fiber waveguides are found to be excellent media for Raman lasers and amplifiers in the near-infrared region of the spectrum. Multiwavelength emission in the 1–1.3 μm range is readily obtained by efficient stimulated Raman scattering in single-mode silica fibers. With a 1.064 μm pulsed pump of 250 W in a 175-m, 6-μm diameter single-mode silica fiber we observed four orders of Stokes radiation at 1.12 μm, 1.18 μm, 1.23 μm and 1.3 μm, respectively. Our results imply that pulsed tunable stimulated Raman emission in this wavelength region is possible using kW tunable infrared dye lasers near 1 μm as pumps. These sources are useful for studying the dispersion of glass fibers as well as for other spectroscopic applications.  相似文献

The refractivities of water vapour in the 10 μm region at temperatures near 20°C are measured with an accuracy of 1% using a 10.6 μm CO2/0.63 μm He-Ne laser interferometer with a 2 m long vacuum cell. The measured refractivities are 30% less than the value calculated by extrapolating the dispersion equation for water vapour in the visible region. From this result, the CO2 laser is found to be useful as a light source for a three-wavelength laser ranging system of correcting for the air refractivity in the path.  相似文献

 数值分析了掺镱单模光纤放大器的最佳增益光纤长度,并在实验上对掺镱单模光纤放大器和光栅对压缩器进行了研究。以最大平均输出功率为7 mW、重复频率为25.4 MHz、脉宽为56 ps的被动锁模环形腔掺镱光纤激光器作为种子脉冲,用250 mW的976 nm单模半导体激光器分别泵浦3种不同长度的掺镱单模光纤,对种子光进行放大,并用光栅对压缩器对放大后的脉冲在不同光栅距离上进行了压缩实验研究。当掺镱单模光纤长度为1.2 m时得到了较好的放大效果,种子脉冲被放大到140 mW,相应的增益为13 dB,放大后的单脉冲能量为5.5 nJ。在光栅距离为14.1 cm时获得了最短440 fs的脉冲,压缩后的功率为43 mW,相应的峰值功率为3.8 kW。  相似文献

Raman soliton phenomena in photonic crystal fibers are shown to allow efficient tunable frequency shifting of sub-10-fs laser pulses. Soliton self-frequency shift in a photonic-crystal fiber with a core diameter less than 2 μm is used to transform the spectrum of a 6-fs 2-nJ Ti: sapphire-laser pulse, dominated by a 670-nm peak, into a spectrum featuring a well-resolved intense spectral component centered at 1064 nm, which is ideally suited as a seed for Nd: YAG- and ytterbium-based laser devices.  相似文献

Microjoule supercontinuum generation is demonstrated using a large-mode-area photonic-crystal fiber (PCF) pumped by an amplified stretched-pulse output of a mode-locked Cr:forsterite laser. A PCF with a mode area of 380 μm2 is employed to transform 300-fs Cr:forsterite laser pulses with a peak-power of a few megawatts into a supercontinuum radiation with a spectrum spanning from 700 to 1800 nm and a total energy of 1.15 μJ.  相似文献

Transparent Ni2+-doped MgO–Al2O3–SiO2 glass ceramics without and with Ga2O3 were synthetized. The precipitation of spinel nanocrystals, which was identified as solid solutions in the glass ceramics, could be favored by Ga2O3 addition and their sizes were about 7.6 nm in diameter. The luminescent intensity of the Ni2+-doped glass ceramics was largely enhanced by Ga2O3 addition which could mainly be caused by increasing of Ni2+ in the octahedral sites and the reduction of the mean frequency of phonon density of states in the spinel nanocrystals of solid solutions. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of emissions for the glass ceramics with different Ga2O3 content was all more than 200 nm. The emission lifetime increased with the Ga2O3 content and the longest lifetime is about 250 μs. The Ni2+-doped transparent glass ceramics with Ga2O3 addition have potential application as broadband optical amplifier and laser materials.  相似文献

We report a unique all fiber-based single-frequency Q-switched laser in a monolithic master oscillator power amplifier configuration at ~1920 nm by using highly Tm-doped germanate fibers for the first time. The actively Q-switched fiber laser seed was achieved by using a piezo to press the fiber in the fiber Bragg grating cavity and modulate the fiber birefringence, enabling Q-switching with pulse width and repetition rate tunability. A single-mode polarization maintaining large core 25 μm highly Tm-doped germanate fiber was used in the power amplifier stage. For 80 ns pulses with 20 kHz repetition rate, we achieved 220 μJ pulse energy, which corresponds to a peak power of 2.75 kW with transform-limited linewidth.  相似文献

We have obtained fifteen percent average internal power conversion efficiency for second harmonic generation in CdGeAs2 of radiation from a TEA CO2 laser operating at 10.6 μm. This is the highest reported doubling efficiency for a CO2 laser. We have also observed cw difference frequency mixing in CdGeAs2 at wavelengths between 11.4 and 16.8 μm using grating-tuned CO and CO2 lasers. The CdGeAs2 crystals are significantly improved in size and optical quality over those previously available.  相似文献
