A new series of transition metal complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), VO(IV), Hg(II) and Cd(II) have been synthesized from the Schiff base (L) derived from 4-aminoantipyrine, 3-hydroxy-4-nitrobenzaldehyde and o-phenylenediamine. Structural features were obtained from their elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, mass, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR and ESR spectral studies. The data show that these complexes have composition of ML type. The UV-Vis, magnetic susceptibility and ESR spectral data of the complexes suggest a square-planar geometry around the central metal ion except VO(IV) complex which has square-pyramidal geometry. The redox behaviour of copper and vanadyl complexes was studied by cyclic voltammetry. Antimicrobial screening tests gave good results in the presence of metal ion in the ligand system. The nuclease activity of the above metal complexes shows that Cu, Ni and Co complexes cleave DNA through redox chemistry whereas other complexes are not effective.  相似文献

A novel tetradentate N2O2 type Schiff base, synthesized from 1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-aminopyrazol-5-one(4-aminoantipyrine) and 3-salicylidene-acetylacetone, forms stable complexes with transition metal ions such as Cu II , Ni II , Co II and Zn II in ethanol. Microanalytical data, magnetic susceptibility, IR, UV-Vis.,1H-NMR, ESR and Mass spectral techniques were used to confirm the structures. Electronic absorption spectra of the complexes suggest a square-planar geometry around the central metal ion. These complexes show higher conductance values, supporting their electrolytic nature. The monomeric nature of the complexes was confirmed from their magnetic susceptibility values. Cyclic voltammogram of the copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes in DMSO solution at 300 K were recorded and the results are discussed. The X-band ESR spectra of the copper complex were recorded and the molecular orbital coefficient values were calculated from the spectra. The in vitro antimicrobial activities of the investigated compounds were tested against bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli and fungi like Aspergillus niger and Rhizoctonia bataicola. Most of the metal chelates show higher antimicrobial activity for the above microorganisms than that of the free ligand.  相似文献

Sulfaguanidinesalicylaldimine is a good bacteriostatic and a good complexing agent. Schiff-base complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), VO(IV), and UO2(VI) have been synthesized. The structural features of the complexes have been confirmed by microanalytical data, FAB mass, IR, UV-Vis, 1H-NMR, and EPR spectra. Molar conductance indicates the presence of nonelectrolytes. Spectroscopic and other analytical studies reveal the square-planar geometry for copper, square-pyramidal geometry for oxovanadium, seven-coordinate UO2(VI) complex, and octahedral geometry for other complexes. The EPR spectrum of the copper complex in the powdered form at 77 K was recorded. The redox behavior of the copper and oxovanadium complexes was studied using cyclic voltammetry. Antimicrobial activities of the compounds have been studied against microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida by well-diffusion technique in DMSO. Some of the complexes have higher activity than the free ligand and the standard.  相似文献

A new ONNO‐type azomethine ligand, 2,2′‐(ethane‐1,2‐diylidenedinitrilo)dibenzoic acid, (YLH2) ( 1 ) has been prepared by the condensation of 2‐aminobenzoic acid and glyoxal. The coordination compounds [Ni(YL)] ( 2 ), [Co(YL)] ( 3 ), [Cu(YL)(H2O)] ( 4 ), [Zn(YL)] ( 5 ), and [Cd(YL)] ( 6 ) of the YLH2 ligand with five transition metal ions, Ni(II) Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) have been prepared. The structures of these new azomethine compounds are proposed on the basis of the elemental analyses, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, and X‐ray powder diffraction patterns. Elemental analyses indicate a ligand metal ratio of 1:1 in the coordination compounds. X‐ray powder diffraction parameters for [Cu(YL)(H2O)] and [Cd(YL)] compounds correspond to orthorhombic and monoclinic structures, respectively. The ligand acts as a tetradentate ligand bending through oxygen atoms of the hydroxyl groups of benzoic acid and nitrogen atoms of the azomethine groups. In addition, the ligand and its metal complexes have been studied for their possible genotoxic potential. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A Schiff base (HCSmz) was synthesized via (E)-cinnamaldehyde with S-methyl dithiocarbazate and six bivalent transition metal complexes [M(CSmz)2] (M=Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, and Hg2+) were prepared. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, and UV-Vis spectra, and the Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes were also characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. After tautomerism of thiotone to thioenol and deprotonization of the thioenol, two ligands chelate the metal by two nitrogens of azomethine and two sulfurs of thioenol. Ni(CSmz)2 crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group P21 /n with a perfectly square planar trans-configuration with Ni located at the center of the square; crystal packing is stabilized by intra- and intermolecular C–H···S hydrogen bonds. Zn(CSmz)2 is in the mirror-symmetric space group I41 /a in a distorted tetrahedral geometry with two equivalent Zn–N and Zn–S bonds; crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular C–H···π hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

The synthesis of a new Schiff base containing 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxaldehyde and 2-aminobenzenethiol subunits is described. The reaction of 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxaldehyde with 2-aminobenzenethiol leads to the isolation of 2,9-bis(2-benzothiazolinyl)-1,10-phenanthroline (I) which undergoes rearrangement when reacted with cobalt, nickel, copper or zinc ions to produce complexes of the tautomeric Schiff base 2,9-bis[2-(2-mercaptophenyl)-2-azaethene]-1,10-phenanthroline (L). The [Cu(L)ClO4][ClO4] and [M(L)X2] complexes (where M = Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) and X = Br) were characterized by physical and spectroscopic measurements which indicated that the ligand is acting probably as a tetradentate N4 chelating agent.  相似文献

The cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II)-vanillidene-L(+)alanine complexes were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, magnetic behavior, infrared, electronic spectral measurements, X-ray powder diffraction and biological studies. The conductance measurements indicate that all the complexes are non-electrolytes. The infrared spectra indicate the coordination of imino nitrogen, phenolic oxygen and carboxylato oxygen atoms. The electronic spectral measurements demonstrate that cobalt(II) and nickel(II)-vanillidene-L(+)alanine complexes are tetrahedral, while copper(II)-vanillidene-L(+)alanine complex has square planar geometry. The cobalt(II) complex is found to be ferromagnetic. The powder XRD studies confirm the crystalline nature of the complexes. The ligand and complexes were less active against PN, PA and BC, whereas copper complex shows moderate activity against AN.  相似文献

Six Schiff base compounds have been prepared from the condensation of o-vanillin, 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and 2,3,4-trihydroxybenzaldehyde with 4-aminosalicylic acid and 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA). Addition of these Schiff bases to [Pd(OAc)2] afforded the corresponding bis(salicylaldiminato)palladium(II) complexes in moderate to excellent yields. All new palladium complexes have been characterized fully using standard spectroscopic methods, elemental analyses and a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study in the case of 2e, the palladium complex containing Schiff base ligands derived from 5-ASA and 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde. All derivatives of 5-ASA were examined for potential antimicrobial activities against two species of fungi, Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as well as two species of bacteria, Bacillus cereus (Gram-positive) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Gram-negative).  相似文献

Binuclear Schiff base complexes derived from glycine (Gly) and 3-acetylpyridine (3-APy) in the presence of M(OAc)2 [M = CoII, NiII, CuII, ZnII and CdII] have been synthesized. The role of pH in promoting the condensation of glycine and 3-acetylpyridine, as well as the substitution of acetates by hydroxide ion, has been discussed. Also, the reaction of glycine with 3-acetylpyridine in the presence of MCl2 [M = CoII and NiII] and MCl3 [M = FeIII and CrIII] yields mono- and/or binuclear complexes containing both of glycine and 3-acetylpyridine without condensation. Both types of complex were isolated and characterized by chemical analysis, conductance, spectral (u.v.–vis., i.r., and 1H-n.m.r.), magnetic and thermal measurements.  相似文献

In Iraq, like most developing countries, attempts are being made to synthesize new compounds with several pharmacological properties. (E)-2-(3-(2-imino-1-methylimidazolidin-4-ylidene)-1-methylguanidino)acetic acid (L) has been synthesized and used as a ligand for the formation of Cr(III), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes. The chemical structures of synthesized compounds were characterized using different spectroscopic methods. All chelates except Ni(II) chelate are found to be octahedral structures, Ni(II) chelate was square planar. The stability for the prepared complexes was studied theoretically using density function theory. The total energy for the complexes was calculated and it was shown that the copper complex is the most stable one. Ligand and complexes were tested against selected types of microbial organisms and showed significant activities. The free-radical scavenging activity of ligand and metal complexes have been determined by their interaction with the stable free-radical DPPH and all the compounds have shown encouraging antioxidant activities.  相似文献

Six novel Ln(III) Schiff base complexes were synthesized using rare earth metals with threonine and 5‐bromosalicylaldehyde, namely Pr(III), Sm(III), Gd(III), Tb(III), Er(III) and Yb(III) Schiff bases. These complexes were characterized using elemental analysis, molar conductivity, Fourier transform infrared and UV–visible spectroscopies, and thermogravimetry–differential thermal analysis. The general formula of the complexes is [Ln(L)(NO3)2(H2O)].NO3 (L = Schiff base ligand). The spectroscopic data reveal that the Schiff base ligand behaves as a tridentate ligand with ONO donor atoms sequencing towards the central metal ion. An investigation of fluorescence properties of the Sm(III), Er(III) and Tb(III) complexes shows that the Ln(III) ions can be sensitized efficiently by the ligand to some extent. Antimicrobial activity testing indicates that all six complexes exhibit antibacterial and antifungal ability against microbes with broad antimicrobial spectra. In addition, the antioxidant properties of the complexes were also screened. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Neutral tetradentate chelate complexes of CuII, NiII, CoII, MnII, ZnII and VOII have been prepared in EtOH using Schiff bases derived from acetoacetanilido-4-aminoantipyrine and 2-aminophenol/2-aminothiophenol. Microanalytical data, magnetic susceptibility, i.r., u.v.–vis., 1H-n.m.r. and e.s.r. spectral techniques were used to confirm the structures of the chelates. Electronic absorption and i.r. spectra of the complexes suggest a square-planar geometry around the central metal ion, except for VOII and MnII complexes which have square-pyramidal and octahedral geometry respectively. The cyclic voltammetric data for the CuII complexes in MeCN show two waves for copper(II) copper(III) and copper(II) copper(I) couples, whereas the VOII complexes in MeCN show two waves for vanadium(IV) vanadium(V) and vanadium(IV) vanadium(III) couples. The e.s.r. spectra of the CuII, VOII and MnII complexes were recorded in DMSO solution and their salient features reported. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of the investigated compounds was tested against the microorganisms such as Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis, Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aspergillus niger and Rhizoctonia bataicola. Most of the metal chelates have higher antimicrobial activity than the free ligands.  相似文献

Novel terdentate neutral complexes of CuII, NiII, CoII, MnII, ZnII, CdII, HgII, VOII, ZrOII and UO2 II have been prepared using a Schiff base derived from 1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-aminopyrazol-5-one (4-aminoantipyrine) and acetoacetanilide. The structural features of the chelates have been confirmed by microanalytical data, i.r., u.v.–vis., 1H-n.m.r., e.s.r. and mass spectral techniques. Electronic absorption and i.r. spectra of the complexes indicate an octahedral geometry around the central metal ion, except for the VOII and ZrOII complexes which show square pyramidal geometry. The monomeric and neutral nature of the complexes are confirmed from their magnetic susceptibility and low conductance values. The cyclic voltammogram of the copper complex in MeCN at 300 K shows a quasi-reversible peak for the couple CuII/CuIII at Epc = 0.47 and Epa = 0.61 V versus Ag/AgCl and two irreversible peaks for CuII CuI and CuI Cu0 reduction at Epc = –0.63 and – 0.89 V respectively. The e.s.r. spectra of copper and vanadyl complexes in DMSO solution at 300 K and 77 K were recorded and their salient features are reported. The molecular orbital coefficients (2, 2) were calculated for complexes. The antimicrobial activity of the ligand and its complexes have been extensively studied on microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiela pneumoniae, Bacillus subtillis, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter ferundii and Salmonella typhi. Most of the complexes have higher activities than that of the free ligand.  相似文献

Several mononuclear Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Fe(II) complexes of tetradentate salpren-type diimine, obtained from 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 1,3-diaminopropane have been prepared and characterized by analytical, spectroscopic (FT-IR, UV–VIS) techniques, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analyses (TG). The thermodynamic and thermal properties of complexes have been investigated. For further characterization Direct Insertion Probe-Mass Spectrometry (DIP-MS) was used and the fragmentation pattern and also stability of the ions were evaluated. The characterization of the end products of the decomposition was achieved by X-ray diffraction. The thermal stabilities of metal complexes of N,N′-bis(3,5-di-t-butylsalicylidene)-1,3-propanediamine ligand (L) were found as Ni(II) > Cu(II) > Co(II) > Fe(II).  相似文献

Summary New complexes of general formula [M(NNS)X] (NNS = anion of the Schiff base of 2-aminobenzaldehyde with S-methyldithiocarbazate; M = Ni, Cu, Pd or Pt; X = Cl, Br, I, NCS, NO3 or AcO), [Ni(NNS)(HNNS)]NO3 and [Co(NNS)2]Cl were prepared and characterised. The magnetic and spectral evidence suggests a square-planar structure for the mono-ligated complexes and an octahedral structure for the bis-chelated complexes. The copper(II) complexes have been shown to display high antifungal activities against the pathogenic fungi, Alternaria alternata and Curvularia geniculata.  相似文献

A novel tyramine derived Schiff base, 3-4-dimethoxybenzylidene-4-aminoantipyrinyl-4-aminoethylphenol(L) and a series of its transition metal complexes of the type, ML2Cl2 where, M=Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Zn(II) have been designed and synthesized. Their structural features and other properties were deduced from the elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility and molar conductivity as well as from mass, IR, UV-vis, 1H NMR and EPR spectral studies. The binding properties of these complexes with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) were investigated using electronic absorption spectroscopy, viscosity measurement, cyclic voltammetry and molecular docking analysis. The results reveal that the metal(II) complexes interact with DNA through minor groove binding. The interaction has also been investigated by gel electrophoresis. Interestingly, it was found that all the complexes could cleave the circular plasmid pUC19 super coiled (SC) DNA efficiently in the presence of AH2 (ascorbic acid). The complexes showed enhanced antifungal and antibacterial activities compared to the free ligand.  相似文献

From the reaction of amoxicillin ( 1 ) antibiotic with 2,6?diaminopyridine ( 2 ) an amoxicillin?based Schiff base (HL) ( 3 ) was obtained and its transition metal Schiff base complexes were synthesized. Spectroscopic and physicochemical techniques, namely, UV?Vis, FT?IR, 1H?NMR, EPR, mass spectrometry, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, molecular modelling, together with elemental and thermal analyses, were used to characterize the synthesized compounds. Spectral and magnetic data suggested an octahedral geometry for all the complexes and the general formulae [ML(H2O)3][PF6] (M(II) = Mn2+ ( 4 ), Co2+ ( 5 ), Ni2+ ( 6 ), Cu2+ ( 7 ), Zn2+ ( 8 ), was proposed for them, where L represents deprotonated tridentate NNO amoxycillin?derived Schiff base. All compounds were screened for antibacterial activity by using agar disc diffusion method. The zinc(II) complex exhibited promising bactericidal activity against E. coli and S. aureus.  相似文献
