An extensive measurement of the elastic H(e,e??)p reaction in the Q 2-region from 0.003 to 1 (GeV/c)2 has been performed with the three-spectrometer set-up of the A1 collaboration at the Mainz Microtron. The data set consists of about 3,000 overlapping cross-section measurements with a high level of internal redundancy, which allow for a determination of the electric and magnetic form factors with strict control over statistical and systematic errors, in particular also of the charge and magnetization radii of the proton. Besides the classical Rosenbluth separation, the form factors are separated by direct, global fits of different sufficiently flexible models. 相似文献

We propose a two parameter expression for the high momentum transfer behaviour of the ratio of proton form factors GM(Q2)/QE(Q2) based on perturbation theory calculations in Quantum Chromodynamics. A fit to the present experimental data and its consistency with a previous fit to the high Q2 behaviour of the Dirac form factor [1] is also discussed. 相似文献

By combining the constraints of charge symmetry with new chiral extrapolation techniques and recent low-mass quenched lattice QCD simulations of the individual quark contributions to the electric charge radii of the baryon octet, we obtain an accurate determination of the strange electric charge radius of the proton. While this analysis provides a value for G(E)(s)(Q(2) = 0.1 GeV(2)) in agreement with the best current data, the theoretical error is comparable with that expected from future HAPPEX results from JLab. Together with the earlier determination of G(M)(s), this result considerably constrains the role of hidden flavor in the structure of the nucleon. 相似文献

In the present experiment we analysed the CoNi alloy, which is particularly suitable for a neutron scattering investigation of this kind. We report the results of a new Rosenbluth measurement of the proton electromagnetic form factors at Q2 values of 2.64, 3.20, and 4.10 GeV2. Cross sections were determined by detecting the recoiling proton, in contrast to previous measurements which detected the scattered electron. Cross sections were determined to 3%, with relative uncertainties below 1%. The ratio mu(p)G(E)/G(M) was determined to 4%-8% and showed mu(p)G(E)/G(M) approximately 1. These results are consistent with, and much more precise than, previous Rosenbluth extractions. They are inconsistent with recent polarization transfer measurements of similar precision, implying a systematic difference between the techniques. 相似文献

1) are not very much different from the nonrelativistic results of Donoghue and Holstein. The values of (g

1) extracted from our model calculations of (f
2/f
1) in the Cabibbo limit compare well with the experimental values. The values of (f
2/f
1) for various semileptonic transitions are also estimated incorporating phenomenologically the effect of nonzerog
2 in the ratio (g
1/f
1). It is found that the SU(3)-symmetry breaking does not generate significant departures in (f
2/f

Predictions for the electromagnetic form factors of the

hyperons are presented. The numerical calculations are performed within the framework of the fully relativistic constituent-quark model developed by the Bonn group. The computed magnetic moments compare favorably with the experimentally known values. Possible method for measuring the proton form factors in processes with and without proton spin flip
The ratio of the squares of the electric and magnetic proton form factors is shown to be proportional to the ratio of the
cross sections for the elastic scattering of an unpolarized electron on a partially polarized proton with and without proton
spin flip. The initial proton at rest should be polarized along the direction of the motion of the final proton. Similar results
are valid for both radiative ep scattering and the photoproduction of pairs on a proton in the Bethe-Heitler kinematics. When the initial proton is fully
polarized in the direction of the motion of the final proton, the cross section for the ep → ep process, as well as for the ep → epγ and γp → $
e\bar ep
$
e\bar ep
processes, without (with) proton spin flip is expressed only in terms of the square of the electric (magnetic) proton form
factor. Such an experiment on the measurement of the cross sections without and with proton spin flip would make it possible
to acquire new independent data on the behavior of G
E
2(Q
2) and G
M
2(Q
2), which are necessary for resolving the contradictions appearing after the experiment of the JLab collaboration on the measurement

The parity-violating cross-section asymmetry in the elastic scattering of polarized electrons from unpolarized protons has been measured at a four-momentum transfer squared Q2 = 0.624 GeV2 and beam energy E(b) = 3.48 GeV to be A(PV) = -23.80 ± 0.78(stat) ± 0.36(syst) parts per million. This result is consistent with zero contribution of strange quarks to the combination of electric and magnetic form factors G(E)(s) + 0.517G(M)(s) = 0.003 ± 0.010(stat) ± 0.004(syst) ± 0.009(ff), where the third error is due to the limits of precision on the electromagnetic form factors and radiative corrections. With this measurement, the world data on strange contributions to nucleon form factors are seen to be consistent with zero and not more than a few percent of the proton form factors. 相似文献
