We clarified for the first time that the photoinduced phase is quite different in structure from the thermally induced phase by the resonant Raman spectroscopy in the spin-crossover complex, [Fe(2-pic)(3)]-Cl2EtOH. In the photoinduced phase we observed a number of additional lines assigned to infra-active vibrational modes which are strongly prohibited by selection rules in the thermally induced phase. These results indicate that a dramatic symmetry lowering should take place in the photoinduced phase. The cooperative Jahn-Teller transformation is a plausible candidate for the symmetry lowering in the photoinduced phase.  相似文献

Light,acting as an external stimulus to induce various intriguing phenomena ranging from photovoltaics to photoinduced catalysis,exerts prominent effects in strongly correlated systems.It would be of particular interest to investigate photon-induced emerging phenomena in spatially confined strongly correlated systems,which are important for applications of these materials in future electronic devices.Colossal magnetoresistive manganites materials offer an ideal platform for such study due to their sensitivity to photo-excitation.Here,we fabricated 900 nm wide La_(0.325)Pr_(0.3)Ca_(0.375)Mn O_3strips,whose width is comparable to the size of the electronic phase separation(EPS)domains in this system.We observed the photoinduced critical fluctuations in the strips,where abrupt resistivity jumps occurred upon photoinduced phase transition depending sensitively on the light intensity.Based on the microscopic views of the EPS domains under photoexcitation,we conclude that such photo-induced resistivity fluctuations originate from the photoinduced phase fluctuations of individual EPS domains when their size becomes comparable to the strip width.  相似文献

This paper briefly reviews the basics of optical Fourier techniques (OFT) and applications for medical image processing as well as phase contrast imaging of live biological specimens. Enhancement of microcalcifications in a mammogram for early diagnosis of breast cancer is the main focus. Various spatial filtering techniques such as conventional 4f filtering using a spatial mask, photoinduced polarization rotation in photosensitive materials, Fourier holography, and nonlinear transmission characteristics of optical materials are discussed for processing mammograms. We also reviewed how the intensity dependent refractive index can be exploited as a phase filter for phase contrast imaging with a coherent source. This novel approach represents a significant advance in phase contrast microscopy.  相似文献

A model is proposed for a photoinduced Peierls-type semiconductor-metal phase transition that makes it possible to determine the time dependence of the bandgap width in the electronic spectrum of vanadium dioxide subjected to a light field and the dependence of the time at which a photoinduced semiconductor-metal phase transition occurs on the laser pulse duration. The theoretical results obtained are consistent with experimental data on the illumination of a VO2 film with an intense laser pulse.  相似文献

Amorphous semiconductors, being intrinsically metastable in nature, exhibit a wide variety of changes in their physical properties, particularly when photoinduced using bandgap illumination. This article reviews the photoinduced phenomena exhibited by amorphous semiconductors such as amorphous hydrogenated silicon (and other tetrahedrally coordinated materials) and chalcogenide glasses. Features exhibited in common by all types of amorphous semiconductors, whether in the experimentally observed photoinduced metastability or the theoretical models used to account for such behaviour, are stressed.  相似文献

Temperature, concentration of the solvent and pressure are the parameters that are well known to bring about phase transitions in liquid-crystalline systems. In recent years a new parameter has been added to this list: light. The principle behind these photoinduced transitions is the light-driven shape transformation of certain photoactive materials like, e.g., azobenzene. In this article, we present results of various aspects of our recent investigations on such photoinduced transitions in the nematic phase and highlight the feature that light is a new tool to study phase transitions and the associated critical phenomena.  相似文献

Recently, many studies have been started in search for materials which show a photoinduced phase transition (PIPT). In this work, we review two systems as typical examples of PIPT accompanied with changes in magnetic characteristics; (1) organo-metal complex [Fe(2-pic)3]Cl2 EtOH (2-pic = 2-amino-methyl-pyridine) and (2) III-V based magnetic semiconductors (In1-x , Mn x )As. In the former case, we show several nonlinear characteristics in dynamical process of photoinduced spin state transition from low-spin to high-spin states. In the latter one, photocarrier-induced ferromagnetic order has been observed by both magnetic and transport measurements.  相似文献

Ultrafast photoinduced phase transition in a spin-Peierls (SP) system of K-tetracyanoquinodimethane (K-TCNQ) was studied by femtosecond (fs) reflection spectroscopy. Photocarriers destabilize the SP phase, resulting in a decrease in molecular dimerization within 400 fs. Such a melting of the SP phase drives three kinds of coherent oscillations. By comparing the oscillations with the Raman bands activated by the dimerization, we show that the oscillation of 20 cm-1 is due to an LO phonon, and it plays an important role for the stabilization of the SP phase.  相似文献

We report a dynamical study on the photoinduced cooperative changes of the spin configurations in single crystals of the organometal spin-crossover complex. In the photoswitching process between low- and high-spin states, nonlinear characteristics such as thresholdlike behavior, incubation period, and phase separation have been observed. These results demonstrate that the cooperative intersystem crossing mediated by spin-lattice interaction plays a key role in the driving process of a new class of nonequilibrium phenomena so called photoinduced phase transition.  相似文献

We present a model of photoinduced regular-dimerized stack transitions and discuss theoretically the behavior of the organic molecular mixed-stack charge-transfer crystal, Tetrathiafulvalene-Chloranil (TTF-CA). We investigate both the photoinduced structural phase transitions and the thermal phase transition between the regular-stack neutral phase at high temperatures and the dimerized-stack ionic phase at low temperatures. Our model is based on a simple phenomenological insight that the molecules have three stable displacements in the crystal. The cooperative effect is accounted for by introducing harmonic coupling between the molecules. It is the first attempt to include not only the photo-excitation but also the temperature effect on an equal footing.  相似文献

By means of Monte Carlo simulations for a kinetic Ising model on a two-dimensional square lattice, we demonstrate that a photoinduced phase transition is accomplished more rapidly even for weaker light in a stripe-structure consisting of two kinds of constituent units than in a homogeneous structure. This is due to accelerated nucleation of a final phase in the constituent unit that is relatively close to instability locally.  相似文献

Photoluminescence as well as photoinduced diamagnetic to paramagnetic phase transition in a strongly correlated electron system, an organic radical 1,3,5-trithia-2,4,6-triazapentalenyl (TTTA) crystal, was investigated under two-photon excitation with different photon densities. Below the threshold photon density to drive the photoinduced phase transition (PIPT), the diamagnetic phase shows a broad luminescence band with a large Stokes shift, whose intensity obeys almost second power law of the excitation photon density. Above the threshold photon density, on the other hand, the diamagnetic to paramagnetic phase transition effectively takes place with a large conversion yield and a steep response instead of an occurrence of the photoluminescence, indicating that the phase transition is optically induced by two-photon absorption. As far as we know, this is the first observation of the PIPT phenomena mediated by two-photon absorption.  相似文献

A novel microscopic mechanism of bidirectional structural changes is proposed for the photoinduced magnetic phase transition in Co-Fe Prussian blue analogs on the basis of ab initio quantum chemical cluster calculations. It is shown that the local potential energies of various spin states of Co are sensitive to the number of nearest neighbor Fe vacancies. As a result, the forward and backward structural changes are most readily initiated by excitation of different local regions by different photons. This mechanism suggests an effective strategy to realize photoinduced reversible phase transitions in a general system consisting of two local components.  相似文献

The temperature and polarization dependence of the optical reflectivity spectra of a quasi-one-dimensional 1/4-filled band system, (DMEDO-EBDT)(2)PF(6), have been investigated. We observed clear anisotropy in the electronic structures corresponding to the anisotropic transport properties. The appearance of a charge gap (E(g)?>?0.1?eV) and transfer of the spectral weight accompanied by the metal-insulator phase transition were clearly observed. In addition, a split of the intramolecular vibrational modes was observed, which strongly suggested the existence of charge disproportionation in the low temperature phase. We also observed a photoinduced reflectivity change, which implied the occurrence of a photoinduced phase transition from the low temperature insulating phase to the high temperature metallic phase.  相似文献

UV irradiation of materials consisting of a polymer matrix that possesses precursors of noble metals followed by annealing results in creation of metal nanoparticles within the irradiated domains. Such photoinduced nanocomposites are promising for photonics applications due to the strong alteration of their optical properties compared to initial nonirradiated materials. We report our results on the synthesis and investigation of two kinds of these materials:
  1. Photoinduced Au nanocomposites based on PMMA matrices, including bulk materials prepared by means of the polymerization technique;
  2. photoinduced Ag nanocomposites with an organic–inorganic hybrid matrix based on TiO2 gels.
The experimental data on evolution of absorption spectra of these materials due to laser irradiation at different wavelengths are presented. The linear and nonlinear refractive index changes in these materials owing to light-induced nanonstructuring are investigated.  相似文献

Azoaromatic (Azo) polymers have attracted much attention as materials for nonlinear and optoelectronic applications. In this work, nonlinear properties of the concerned material are first characterized by m-lines spectroscopic method. Then, photoinduced phenomena reported in the literature are summarized and experimentally found out. Therefore, these photoinduced properties are used to design and manufacture an optically controlled integrated device based on light wave intensity dependence of refractive index.  相似文献

A theory is constructed that explains photoinduced phase transitions in a Peierls system being irradiated by light with a finite width of the optical spectrum and a central frequency close to the upper van Hove singularity of the first kind in the combined density of electron states. The electron spectrum and the matrix elements of the dipole-moment operator are calculated by Bogolyubov’s method of canonical transformations. The interaction with the light is described by the Liouville equation for the density matrix of the electron subsystem in the dipole approximation. The light field is considered a quasimonochromatic time-independent random process with a Lorentzian spectrum. The derived equations are analyzed for two limits: (1) when the width of the optical spectrum tends to zero (a monochromatic light field), and (2) when the width of the optical spectrum is close to the upper limit (a bifurcation point) at which a photoinduced phase transition can still be observed. An existence criterion for such a transition is obtained, and the main parameters of the transition (the critical points and the size of the hysteresis loop) are calculated. The broadening of the optical spectrum of the incident light is shown to narrow the range of values of the central frequency of the light field and to reduce the size of the hysteresis loop. Finally, near the phase transition point, cavityless optical bistability sets in in the system, with light absorption increasing in the process. Zh. éksp. Teor. Coherent nonlinear dynamics of photoinduced cooperative phenomena at 0 K is studied by numerical calculations on a model of molecular crystals. We found that the photoinduced nucleation process is triggered only when a certain amount of excitation energy is supplied in a narrow part of the system; i.e., there exists the smallest size of the cluster of excited molecules which makes the nucleation possible. As a result, the portion of the cooperatively converted molecules is nonlinearly dependent on the photoexcitation strength, which has been observed in various materials.  相似文献

A photoinduced modulated state in FeBO3:Ni is found to occur by means of a phase transition when the temperature changes. Dependences of the transition temperature on the value and orientation of the external magnetic field and on illumination intensity are obtained. Experimental data are discussed in terms of a model involving interactions between photoinduced Fe3+ ions, the impurity system and the magnetic system.  相似文献
