Geometric frustration in magnetic systems is a key ingredient for magnetodielectric coupling. Ca3Co2O6 system is a model of triangular Ising lattice and presenting exotic magnetic properties. With a partially disordered antiferromagnetic ground state and two steps in magnetisation to a ferrimagnetic state and to a ferromagnetic state, this oxide is a good system for studying the effect of frustration in magnetodielectric coupling. Dielectric constant measurements of single crystals of Ca3Co2O6 have been done showing the sensitivity of this technique to frustration. 相似文献

The structure, Curie temperature and magnetostriction of Pr0.15Tb0.3Dy0.55Fe1.85−xBx (x=0–0.3) alloys have been investigated using X-ray diffraction, AC susceptibility and standard strain gauge techniques. It was found that all the samples possess entirely MgCu2-type cubic Laves structure. With increasing B concentration, the lattice parameter decreases, while the Curie temperature remains unchanged. The magnetostriction of Pr0.15Tb0.3Dy0.55Fe1.85−xBx alloys at room temperature increases with increasing B concentration firstly, and then decreases slightly. 相似文献

Various aspects of magnetic field control of magnetoelectric (ME) and electric properties of multiferroics are considered: linear ME effect appearance at magnetic field-induced incommensurate–commensurate phase transition, polarization switching and reversal by magnetic field and magnetic field-induced polarization flop transition. The correlation between magnetic, electric, and magnetoelastic properties is shown. 相似文献

We carefully studied the nonsuperconducting sample of the magneto-superconducting RuSr2(Eu1−xCex)Cu2O10−δ series with composition RuSr2EuCeCu2O10−δ. This compound seems to exhibit a complex magnetic state as revealed by host of techniques like resistivity, thermopower, magnetic susceptibility, and MR measurements. The studied compound exhibited ferromagnetic like M(H) loops at 5, 20, and 50 K, and semiconductor like electrical conduction down to 5 K, with −MR7 T of up to 4% at low temperatures. The −MR7 T decreases fast above 150 K and monotonically becomes close to zero above say 230 K. Below, 150 K −MR7 T decreases to around 3% monotonically down to 75 K, with further increase to 4% at around 30 K and lastly having a slight decrease below this temperature. The thermopower S(T) behavior closely followed the −MR7 T steps in terms of d(S/T)/dT slopes. Further, both MR7 T steps and d(S/T)/dT slopes are found in close vicinity to various magnetic ordering temperatures (Tmag) of this compound. 相似文献

Magnetoelastic properties of the Pr6Fe11Ga3 alloy are studied by magnetostriction and thermal expansion measurements. The effects of short- and long-range magnetic ordering processes about Curie temperature clearly appear in the temperature dependence of the spontaneous magnetostriction as two increasing steps with decreasing temperatures. Thermal variations of the total magnetocrystalline anisotropy introduce pronounce changes in the isofield curves of the forced magnetostriction as a negative minimum below 200 K, a compensation phenomena about 250 K, and a positive maximum between 250 K and Tc=320 K. The observed behavior of magnetostriction is discussed in terms of the competitive anisotropies of Pr and Fe sublattices and coupling magnetostrictive constants. 相似文献

Critical bond lengths and their role in spontaneous magnetostriction of R2Fe17CX (R=Y,Nd, Gd,Tb, Er)

High-energy high-flux synchrotron X-rays have been used to study the spontaneous magnetostriction of R2Fe17 (R=Y, Nd, Gd, Tb, Er) and their carbides in the temperature range 10–1100 K. Addition of interstitial carbon greatly increases both the Curie temperatures (TC) and the spontaneous magnetostrain of the compounds, while reduces the anisotropy of the magnetostrain by expanding the distances between rare-earth and neighboring Fe sites. The increase of TC with carbon is due to the increased spatial separation of the Fe hexagon layers. On the basal plane, the Fe hexagons are squeezed and the contribution of Fe sublattice to spontaneous magnetostriction is attenuated, while that of rare-earth sublattice is enhanced. The average bond magnetostrain around Fe sites are in linear relation with their hyperfine field intensities. 相似文献

Magneto electric composites with composition (x) Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4+(1-x) Ba0.8Pb0.2Zr0.8Ti0.2O3 (BPZT—barium lead zirconate titanate) in which x varies as 0.0, 0.15, 0.30, 0.45 and 1.0 mol% were prepared by standard double sintering ceramic method. The presence of constituent phases such as ferrite and ferroelectric was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. The structural analyses were carried out by using X-ray diffraction pattern. Scanning electron micrographs (SEM) were taken to understand the microstructure of the samples. The calculated values of the porosity of the samples lie between 4.5% and 16.2%. The hysteresis measurements were made to determine saturation magnetization (Ms), magnetic moment (μB) and coercivity (Hc). From the AC susceptibility measurements the contribution of both the single domain (SD) particles of the ferrite phase and mixed domain (SD+MD) particles of the composites in ME output were explained. The static magneto electric voltage coefficients (dE/dH)H were measured as a function of intensity of magnetic field and the maximum ME coefficient were observed for the composites with 30% of ferrite+70% of ferroelectric phase. 相似文献

Bi0.8La0.2FeO3/CoFe2O4 (BLFO/CFO) multilayer thin films (totally 20 layers BLFO and 19 layers CFO) were prepared on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope measurements show that the films are polycrystalline and consisted of multilayered structure. Ferroelectric hysteresis loops with remnant polarization and saturated polarization of 4.2 and 13.3 μC/cm2, respectively, were observed. On the other hand, the films show well-shaped magnetization hysteresis loops with saturated and remnant magnetization of 34.7 and 11.4 emu/cm3, respectively, which are significantly larger than pure BLFO thin films deposited under the same conditions. These results indicate that constructing epitaxial superlattice might be a promising way to fabricate multiferroics with improved properties. 相似文献

The magnetostriction of the off-stoichiometric R2Fe17-type intermetallic compounds based on R2Fe14−xCoxSi2 (R=Y, Er, Tm and x=0, 4) was measured, using the strain gauge method in the temperature range 77-460 K under applied magnetic fields up to 1.5 T. All compounds show sign change and reduction in magnetostriction values compared to the R2Fe17 compounds by Si substitution. For Y2Fe14Si2 and Er2Fe14Si2, saturation behaviour is observed near magnetic ordering temperature (TC), whereas for Tm2Fe14Si2, saturation starts from T>143 K. Also, Co substitution has different effects on the magnetostriction of R2Fe14Si2 compounds. In Er2Fe10Co4Si2 and Tm2Fe10Co4Si2, saturation occurs below the spin reorientation temperature (TSR). In addition, in Er2Fe14Si2, a sign change occurs in the anisotropic magnetostriction (Δλ) as well as the volume magnetostriction (ΔV/V) at their TSR values. The volume magnetostrictions of the Tm-containing compounds show an anomaly around their TSR. In R2Fe14Si2 compounds, parastrictive behaviour is also observed in ΔV/V near their TC values. In addition, the magnetostriction of the sublattices is investigated. Results show that in R2Fe14Si2 compounds, the rare-earth sublattice contribution to magnetostriction is negative and comparable to the iron sublattice, whereas, in R2Fe10Co4Si2 compounds, the rare-earth sublattice contribution is positive and larger than Fe sublattice. These results are discussed based on the effect of Si and Co substitutions on the anisotropy field of these compounds. Influence of the spin reorientation transition on the magnetostriction of these compounds is discussed in terms of the anisotropic sublattice interactions. 相似文献

1-3 and 2-2 types Pb(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O3-CoFe2O4 (PZT-CFO) composite films with controllable microstructures, consisted by CFO nanopillar embedded in PZT matrix and PZT-CFO gratings respectively, have been fabricated on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by combining lithography technology and pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction confirms that the films are well crystallized under optimized postannealing conditions. Scanning electron microscope reveals that the periodic microstructures can be well controlled. Especially, intrinsic room temperature ferroelectric and ferrimagnetic behaviors are observed simultaneously. The structure-properties relationship is discussed. Our results may provide an alternative method to design and prepare multiferroic composite films with controllable microstructures. 相似文献

Pr(Fe0.4Co0.6)1.93 ribbons were prepared by a melt-spinning method. Their structure and magnetic properties are investigated as functions of wheel speed and annealing temperature. The as-spun ribbon consists of a Pr(Fe, Co)2 cubic Laves phase and an amorphous phase at a wheel speed of v≥35 m/s, while the non-cubic phases of PuNi3-type and rare earth appear when the speed lower than 30 m/s. A single Pr(Fe, Co)2 phase with MgCu2-type structure has been synthesized by the process for the wheel speed of v≥35 m/s and subsequent annealing at 500 °C for 30 min. The epoxy/Pr(Fe0.4Co0.6)1.93 composite has been produced by a cold isostatic pressing technique, and the magnetic properties have been investigated. The composite rod sample possesses good magnetostrictive properties, i.e., a large magnetostriction (λa=λ∥−λ⊥) of 710 ppm at 800 kA/m and a dynamic coefficient d33 of 0.67 nm/A at 100 kA/m, and is of practical value. 相似文献

Frequency dependence of amplitude of transverse acoustic wave in antiferromagnetic monocrystal iron borate was investigated. It was shown that experimental amplitude–frequency characteristics may be interpreted on the basis of developed theory of magnetic birefringence of sound in FeBO3 taking into account defect structure of the real crystal, experimental boundary conditions and pass band of piezotransducers. 相似文献

The structural, magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of Sm1−xCexFe2 (0≤x≤1) Laves compounds have been investigated. The magnetostriction coefficient λ111 and the anisotropy of the Sm1−xCexFe2 compounds decrease with increasing Ce content. The decreasing of anisotropy results in an enhancement of the anisotropic magnetostriction at low magnetic fields for the compounds with a small amount of Ce substituted for Sm. 相似文献

We report on the specific heat C(T) of doped manganites Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3, Nd0.5Ca0.5MnO3, Sm0.5Ca0.5MnO3, Dy0.5Ca0.5MnO3 and Ho0.5Ca0.5MnO3 in the temperature range 2?T?300 K using modified rigid ion model (MRIM). The present specific heat results are in general satisfactory agreement with experimental data except at very low temperatures (i.e. T?12 K). Also a sharp peak observed in the experimental results for these compounds around 5 K could not be revealed by our computed results as they arise due to Schottky-like anomaly. Besides, we have reported the cohesive and the thermal properties of these compounds. The results obtained by us are discussed in detail. 相似文献

Thermo-gravimetric, differential scanning calorimetry and comprehensive 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy studies of amorphous and crystalline ferromagnetic glass coated (Co0.2Fe0.8)72.5Si12.5B15 micro-wires have been recorded. The Curie temperature of the amorphous phase is TC(amorp) ∼730 K. The analysis of the Mössbauer spectra reveals that below 623 K the easy axis of the magnetization is axial-along the wires, and that a tangential or/and radial orientation occurs at higher temperatures. At 770 K, in the first 4 hours the Mössbauer spectrum exhibits a pure paramagnetic doublet. Crystallization and decomposition to predominantly α-Fe(Si) and Fe2B occurs either by raising the temperature above 835 K or isothermally in time at lower temperatures. Annealing for a day at 770 K, leads to crystallization. In the crystalline material the magnetic moments have a complete random orientation. After cooling back to ambient temperature, both α-Fe(Si) and Fe2B in the glass coated wire show pure axial magnetic orientation like in the original amorphous state. The observed spin reorientations are associated with changes in the stress induced by the glass coating. 相似文献

The strain behaviors as well as the structural and magnetic changes relative to the pretransition in the Ni50.5Mn24.5Ga25 single crystals have been characterized by various methods, such as pretransition strain, magnetostriction, magnetization measurements, and TEM observations. A large magnetostriction up to 505 ppm measured in the [001] direction of the sample is obtained at the pretransition temperature with only a low magnetic field of about 1 kOe applied along the [010] direction. We found that not only the pretransition strain pronounces a more large change, but also the magnetostriction at a certain temperature exhibits a more large magnitude for field applied along the [010] direction than with field along the [001] direction. It is concluded that the magnetoelastic interaction is responsible for the premartensitic transition, and the magnetoelastic interaction in the [010] direction is stronger than that in the [001] direction. 相似文献

Experimental results on the thermal expansion and magnetostriction of YFe10V2 composites are reported and the influence of H and N interstitial atoms is studied. The anisotropic magnetostriction is about 30% larger in the composite than in the starting alloy. Also, the anisotropic magnetostriction remains positive after insertion of H (N) ion while the sign of volume magnetostriction changes by hydrogenation. The anisotropic magnetoelastic interactions are enhanced by insertion of H and especially N interstitial atoms. The results are discussed considering the effect of H and N, and of temperature on magnetic anisotropy and microstructure. 相似文献

A detailed study of magnetic properties of cobaltite YBaCo2O5.5 has been performed in high (up to 35 T) magnetic fields and under hydrostatic pressure up to 0.8 GPa. The temperatures of paramagnet-ferromagnet (PM-FM) and ferromagnet-antiferromagnet (FM-AF) phase transitions and their pressure derivatives have been determined. It has been revealed that in the compound with yttrium, in contrast to those with magnetic rare earth atoms, the AF-FM field-induced magnetic phase transition is accompanied by a considerable field hysteresis below 240 K, and the magnetic field of 35 T is not sufficient to complete this transition at low temperatures. The hysteresis value depends on the magnetic field sweep rate, which considered as an evidence of magnetic viscosity that is especially strong in the region of coexistence of the FM and AF phases. High values of susceptibility for the field-induced FM phase show that Co spin state in these compounds changes in strong magnetic field. 相似文献

Young's Modulus Anisotropy and Magnetomechanical Damping of [110] Oriented Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe1.95 Alloy 下载免费PDF全文
The △E effect and the magnetoelastic or magnetomechanical damping of vibrations in [110] oriented Tbo.aDyo.TFe1.95 alloy are experimentally studied by quasi-static stress-strain measurements under various constant magnetic fields between 0 and 3000 Oe, where stress ranges are taken from about 0 to -25, -50, -75 MPa. The linear stressstrain behaviour is obtained when the magnetic field is high enough (9000 Oe). However, the modulus E varies with the angle θ between the compressive stress and magnetic field (9000 Oe), which shows that the anisotropy of the modulus E is related to the magnetic domain distribution. 相似文献
