LetH be a subgroup of a groupG. A normal subgroupN H ofH is said to be inheritably normal if there is a normal subgroup N G of G such that N H = N G H. It is proved in the paper that a subgroup $N_{G_i }$ of a factor G i of the n-periodic product Π iI n G i with nontrivial factors G i is an inheritably normal subgroup if and only if $N_{G_i }$ contains the subgroup G i n . It is also proved that for odd n ≥ 665 every nontrivial normal subgroup in a given n-periodic product G = Π iI n G i contains the subgroup G n . It follows that almost all n-periodic products G = G 1 * n G 2 are Hopfian, i.e., they are not isomorphic to any of their proper quotient groups. This allows one to construct nonsimple and not residually finite Hopfian groups of bounded exponents.  相似文献

We are concerned with the notion of the degree-type (D G i )i∈ω of a graphG, whereD G i is defined to be the number of vertices inG with degreei. In the first section the following results are proven:
  1. IfG is a connected, locally finite, countably infinite graph such that there exists ani so thatD G i andD G i+1 are both finite and different from 0, thenG is reconstructible.
  2. Locally finite, countably infinite graphsG, for which infinitely manyD G i are different from 0 but only finitely manyD G i are infinite, are reconstructible.
In the second section we give some results about the reconstructibility of certain locally finite countably infinite interval graphs and show that a reconstruction of a planar, infinite graph has to be planar too.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group having a π-subgroup H such that |G: H| is not divisible by the numbers in π. In this case, the subgroup H is referred to as a π-Hall subgroup, and the group G by itself is referred to as a E π -group. If, moreover, the group H is supersolvable, then G is referred to as an E π u -group. It is proved in the paper that the class of all E π u -groups is a solvably saturated formation, and the proof is carried out without using the classification of finite groups.  相似文献

For a finite groupG, #Cent(G) denotes the number of centralizers of its elements. A groupG is calledn-centralizer if #Cent(G) =n, and primitive n-centralizer if $\# Cent(G) = \# Cent\left( {\frac{G}{{Z(G)}}} \right) = n$ . The first author in [1], characterized the primitive 6-centralizer finite groups. In this paper we continue this problem and characterize the primitive 7-centralizer finite groups. We prove that a finite groupG is primitive 7-centralizer if and only if $\frac{G}{{Z(G)}} \cong D_{10} $ orR, whereR is the semidirect product of a cyclic group of order 5 by a cyclic group of order 4 acting faithfully. Also, we compute#Cent(G) for some finite groups, using the structure ofG modulu its center.  相似文献

Let G be a Chevalley group scheme of rank l. Let ${G_n := G(\mathbb{Z} / p^{n} \mathbb{Z})}$ be the family of finite groups for ${n \in \mathbb{N}}$ and some fixed prime number p >?p 0. We prove a uniform poly-logarithmic diameter bound of the Cayley graphs of G n with respect to arbitrary sets of generators. In other words, for any subset S which generates G n , any element of G n is a product of C n d elements from ${S \cup S^{-1}}$ . Our proof is elementary and effective, in the sense that the constant d and the functions p 0(l) and C(l, p) are calculated explicitly. Moreover, we give an efficient algorithm for computing a short path between any two vertices in any Cayley graph of the groups G n .  相似文献

First we express therelative class number h 2q of the subfieldK 2q? ?(e2#x03C0;i/p ) of degree [K 2q: ?] =2q in terms of these excesses. We use this formula to establish certaincongruences for the Фj. E.g., ifq ∈ {3,5,11}, each number Фj is congruent modulo 4 to each other iff 2 dividesh 2q - . Finally we study thevariance of the excesses, i.e., the number \(\sigma ^2 = ((\Phi _0 - \hat \Phi )^2 + \ldots + (\Phi _{q - 1} - \hat \Phi )^2 )/(q - 1)\) , where \(\hat \Phi \) is the mean value of the numbers Фj. We obtain an explicit lower bound for σ2 in terms ofh 2q - /h 2 - . Moreover, we show that log σ2 is asymptotically equal to 21og(h 2q - h 2 - )/(q - 1) forp→∞. For given positive increasing functions p and $ with ∫ 1 dr/p(r) = ∫ 1 dr/r ?(r) = ∞, setP(r) = ∫ 1 r dt/p,Ψ(r) = ∫ 1 r dt/t ?(t) We prove that $$S(r, \left\{ {a_j } \right\}, f) \leqslant \log \frac{{T(r, f)\phi (T(r, f))}}{{p(r)}} + O(1)$$ holds, with a small exceptional set of r, for any finite set of points |a j | in the extended plane and any meromorphic function f such thatΨ(T(r, f)) =O(P(r)). A finite groupG isQ-admissible if there exists a division algebra finite dimensional and central overQ which is a crossed product forG. AQ-admissible group is necessarily Sylow-metacyclic (all its Sylow subgroups are metacyclic). By means of an investigation into the structure of Sylow-metacyclic groups, the inverse problem (is every Sylow-metacyclic groupQ-admissible?) is essentially reduced to groups of order 2 a 3 b and to a list of known “almost simple” groups.  相似文献

The Turán density π(F) of a family F of k-graphs is the limit as n → ∞ of the maximum edge density of an F-free k-graph on n vertices. Let Π (k) consist of all possible Turán densities and let Π fin (k) ? Π (k) be the set of Turán densities of finite k-graph families. Here we prove that Π fin (k) contains every density obtained from an arbitrary finite construction by optimally blowing it up and using recursion inside the specified set of parts. As an application, we show that Π fin (k) contains an irrational number for each k ≥ 3. Also, we show that Π (k) has cardinality of the continuum. In particular, Π (k) ≠ Π fin (k) .  相似文献

If γ k-2(C G (a)) is nilpotent of class at most c for any ${a \in A^{\#}}$ , then γ k-2(G) is nilpotent and has {c, k, p}-bounded nilpotency class. If a finite group G is ${\mathcal{N}}$ -constrained, then the nilpotent injectors of G form a single conjugacy class of subgroups. In this paper we shall generalize this result.
