The (·)reg construction was introduced in order to make an arbitrary semigroup S divide a regular semigroup (S) reg which shares some important properties with S (e.g., finiteness, subgroups, torsion bounds, J-order structure). We show that (S) reg can be described by a rather simple complete string rewrite system, as a consequence of which we obtain a new proof of the normal form theorem for (S) reg. The new proof of the normal form theorem is conceptually simpler than the previous proofs.  相似文献

Abstract. We introduce a class of strongly E * -unitary inverse semigroups S i (G,P) (i=1,2) determined by a group G and a submonoid P of G and give an embedding theorem for S i (G,P) . This paper considers the isometric extension problem concerning the mapping from the unit sphere S 1(E) of the normed space E into the unit sphere S 1(l (Γ)). We find a condition under which an isometry from S 1(E) into S 1(l (Γ)) can be linearly and isometrically extended to the whole space. Since l (Γ) is universal with respect to isometry for normed spaces, isometric extension problems on a class of normed spaces are solved. More precisely, if E and F are two normed spaces, and if V 0: S 1(E) → S 1(F) is a surjective isometry, where c 00(Γ) ⊆ Fl (Γ), then V 0 can be extended to be an isometric operator defined on the whole space. Let S be a finite orthodox semigroup or an orthodox semigroup where the idempotent band E(S) is locally pseudofinite. In this paper, by using principal factors and Rukolaǐne idempotents, we show that the contracted semigroup algebra R0[S] is semiprimitive if and only if S is an inverse semigroup and R[G] is semiprimitive for each maximal subgroup G of S. This theorem strengthens previous results about the semiprimitivity of inverse semigroup algebras.  相似文献

To a transformation semigroup (S, M) we assign a new semigroupFP(S) called the factor-power of the semigroup (S, M). Then we apply this construction to the symmetric groupS n. Some combinatorial properties of the semigroupFP(S n) are studied; in particular, we investigate its relationship with the semigroup of 2-stochastic matrices of ordern and the structure of its idempotents. Let S be a completely simple semigroup represented as a Rees matrix semigroup M(I,G,P) with normalized sandwich matrix P. On the congruence lattice C(S) of S we consider the relations T i, K and T r which identify congruences with the same left trace, kernel and right trace, respectively. These are equivalences whose classes are intervals. The upper and lower ends of these intervals induce the following operators on C(S) Tl, K, Tr, tl, k and tr .We construct here the semigroup generated by these operators as a homomorphic image of a semigroup given by generators and relations and demonstrate the minimality of the latter.  相似文献

Let X be a connected based space and p be a two-regular prime number. If the fundamental group of X has order p, we compute the two-primary homotopy groups of the homotopy fiber of the trace map A(X) → TC(X) relating algebraic K-theory of spaces to topological cyclic homology. The proof uses a theorem of Dundas and an explicit calculation of the cyclotomic trace map K(ℤ[Cp])→ TC(ℤ[Cp]).  相似文献

We consider a strongly continuous semigroup (T(t))t \geqq 0(T(t))_{t \geqq 0} with generator A on a Banach space X, an A-bounded perturbation B, and the semigroup (S(t))t \geqq 0(S(t))_{t \geqq 0} generated by A + B. Using the critical spectrum introduced recently, we improve existing spectral mapping theorems for the perturbed semigroup (S(t))t \geqq 0(S(t))_{t \geqq 0} .  相似文献

In this article we give complete characterizations of shift-invariant uniform algebras AS on compact abelian groups, in which two of the classical theorems for analytic functions hold, namely, Radó's theorem for analytic extension and Riemann's theorem for removable singularities. Our characterization is in terms of algebraical properties of the semigroup S of non-zero Fourier coefficients of the functions in AS .  相似文献

A Kakutani-type fixed point theorem refers to a theorem of the following kind: Given a group or semigroup S of continuous affine transformations s : QQ, where Q is a nonempty compact convex subset of a Hausdorff locally convex linear topological space, then under suitable conditions S has a common fixed point in Q, i.e., a point a ? Q{a \in Q} such that s(a) = a for each s ? S{s \in S}. In 1938, Kakutani gave two conditions under each of which a common fixed point of S in Q exists. They are (1) the condition that S be a commutative semigroup, and (2) the condition that S be an equicontinuous group. The present survey discusses subsequent generalizations of Kakutani’s two theorems above.  相似文献

Let g e (S) (respectively, g o (S)) be the number of even (respectively, odd) gaps of a numerical semigroup S. In this work we study and characterize the numerical semigroups S that verify 2|g e (S)−g o (S)|+1∈S. As a consequence we will see that every numerical semigroup can be represented by means of a numerical semigroup with maximal embedding dimension with all its minimal generators odd. Given a weighted discrete abelian semigroup (S, ω), the semigroup M ω (S) of ω-bounded multipliers as well as the Rees quotient M ω (S)/S together with their respective weights [(w)\tilde]\tilde{\omega} and [(w)\tilde]q\tilde{\omega}_q induced by ω are studied; for a large class of weights ω, the quotient l1(Mw(S),[(w)\tilde])/l1(S,w)\ell^1(M_{\omega}(S),\tilde{\omega})/\ell^1(S,{\omega}) is realized as a Beurling algebra on the quotient semigroup M ω (S)/S; the Gel’fand spaces of these algebras are determined; and Banach algebra properties like semisimplicity, uniqueness of uniform norm and regularity of associated Beurling algebras on these semigroups are investigated. The involutive analogues of these are also considered. The results are exhibited in the context of several examples.  相似文献

In studying the pairs of irreducible characters of the symmetric group S n with the same zero set on A n or S n A n (as well as the pairs of irreducible characters with the same zero set on the alternating group A n ), the results are important on the connection between the Young diagrams of the characters of these pairs. We study the character amenability of semigroup algebras. We work on general semigroups and certain semigroups such as inverse semigroups with a finite number of idempotents, inverse semigroups with uniformly locally finite idempotent set, Brandt and Rees semigroup and study the character amenability of the semigroup algebra l1(S) in relation to the structures of the semigroup S. In particular, we show that for any semigroup S, if ?1(S) is character amenable, then S is amenable and regular. We also show that the left character amenability of the semigroup algebra ?1(S) on a Brandt semigroup S over a group G with index set J is equivalent to the amenability of G and J being finite. Finally, we show that for a Rees semigroup S with a zero over the group G, the left character amenability of ?1(S) is equivalent to its amenability, this is in turn equivalent to G being amenable.  相似文献
