Quantum-chemical modeling is used to study the relationship between the spin states of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers and their position on a (100) surface or in the bulk of a diamond crystal. The spin density of the NV centers is computed, and the position of the centers on the crystal surface is demonstrated to be energetically more favorable. The (100) surface of diamond crystal is found to affect the geometrical parameters and adsorption properties of NV centers and their spin-density distribution, relative to these properties in the bulk.  相似文献

Nanostructuring of an extended surface area is performed by ultra-short-pulse laser ablation in the low-fluence regime. A layer of micrometer-sized quartz spheres is used as a lens array in direct contact with the sample. The thickness of a transparent spacer layer under the spheres is adjusted so that the sample is struck by an array of well-focused spots. The threshold character of the ablation process allows the formation of sub-diffraction-limited structures, down to 500-nm holes with 800-nm light. The deposition of the lens array directly on the surface makes the technique broadly applicable, also to samples that show great variations in height. Using generalized Ginzburg-Landau equations derived recently we solve the laser equations analytically for the case of spontaneous ultra-short laser pulses. The results are compared with previous computer solutions by Risken and Nummedal and very good agreement is found.  相似文献

The possibility of the phase control for the excitation of a quantum system in the discrete spectrum under the action of a short high-intensity laser pulse with a controlled phase is theoretically analyzed. The analysis is performed using the example of the simplest two-level system (TLS) employing a numerical solution to equations for the optical Bloch vector. It is demonstrated that the excitation probability and the mean dipole moment of the quantum system, which determine the normal luminescence and the superradiance in the TLS ensemble, respectively, substantially depend on the phase of the laser pulse for relatively short and powerful laser pulses.  相似文献

A method for creating an entangled state between two NV centers in a diamond that do not interact directly with each other is studied. The method is based on the excitation of centers via a half divider (a 50% beamsplitter) with the subsequent coherent inversion of the spin of the excited center and the detection of a photon emitted by the excited center. The parameters of a multimode single-photon pulse that make it possible to achieve a maximally possible excitation of the centers at a given solid angle of the focusing of the light on the center are found. The probability to create an entangled state in relation to the parameters of the initial state of a photon, the turn-on and turn-off times of the microwave pulse and the light focusing solid angle is determined. Optimal values of these parameters that ensure a maximal probability of the entanglement creation are determined.  相似文献

对干燥状态和浸水后的红砂岩、花岗岩、大理岩在不同超短脉冲激光入射频率和烧蚀发次等条件下的烧蚀情况进行了研究.结果发现,浸水后的岩石烧蚀质量损失明显大于干燥状态下的质量损失.同时质量损失与激光入射频率和烧蚀发次有着密切的关系.  相似文献

We have measured the absolute dissociation probability of SF6 gas irradiated by CO2 laser pulses varying in duration from 0.5 nsec to 100 nsec. We find a threshold for dissociation of ? 1.4 J/cm2, independent of pulse duration. For fixed energy density, the dissociation probability increases as the pulse duration decreases, but not nearly to the degree expected from theory. We have also determined the dissociation probability in the ν2 + ν6 combination band and find it to be 103 times less than in the ν3 band, in contradiction to some conclusions recently reported by Ambartzumian et al. The dissociation mechanism takes place without collisions, and if collisions occur, they tend to be detrimental to the dissociation rate.  相似文献

We suggest a specific way to realize the quantum repeater protocol based on NV + 13C defects in diamond and feasible with present techniques. Numerical simulation shows the efficiency of the considered realization in respect of both fidelity of final entangled state and time of its creation, under the condition of using small Rabi frequencies and resonant-only operational pulses. We demonstrate an optical limiter for ultra-short (∼100-fs) laser pulses. The device has a dynamic range (= damage energy/onset-of-limiting energy) of more than 10000 and an onset-of-limiting energy of only ∼10 nJ. The output-pulse energy is kept below 1.3 μJ. The limiting mechanism is based on two-photon absorption and refractive nonlinearities in a 20-mm piece of ZnSe. We discuss the importance of the different nonlinearities, damage issues, and guidelines for the construction of the device. We demonstrate the possibility of imprinting a controlled ultra-fast time-varying ellipticity on few-cycle laser pulses through the non-linear propagation in a thin anisotropic crystal. The method is based on the self- and cross-phase modulation induced by the third-order (Kerr) non-linearity when the pulse propagates through the crystal. The feasibility of this technique is demonstrated through the numerical integration of the Maxwell equations, showing the possibility of producing a sub-half-cycle temporal gate of linear polarization. In comparison with alternative approaches, our method results in a polarization gate with higher efficiency, and also it can be controlled by changing the polarization axis of the laser pulse at the entrance of the crystal. 本文数值计算了超短脉冲(脉冲持续时间为两个光学周期)的高次谐波发射功率谱.研究结果表明,超短脉冲谐波谱的截止频率不再符合IP 3.17UP的截止规则(IP为原子电离势,UP为有质动力能).对此,本文采用"三步"模型给出了合理解释,并用小波变换验证了结果的正确性.  相似文献

Micro machining of a polyimide film with ultra-short pulsed laser was demonstrated. A through-hole with a diameter of less than 10 μm could be produced by optimizing the pulse duration, repetition rate, and number of shots. Thermal damage around the through-hole can be made negligibly small when the pulse duration was shorter than 140 fs. We also found that the minimum shot number needed for the creation of a through-hole becomes smaller as the repetition rate of laser shot increases. On the basis of the optimum irradiation condition, we demonstrated laser cutting of a polyimide film without thermal damage and copper filling in through-holes with diameters of 9 μm by a plating process.  相似文献

Formation of periodic subwavelength ripples on a metallic tungsten surface is investigated through a line-scribing method under the irradiation of 800?nm, 50 fs to 8 ps ultra-short laser pulses. The distinctive features of the induced ripple structures are described in detail with different laser parameters. Experimental measurements reveal that with gradual decrease of the laser fluence, the pulse duration or the scanning speed, the ripple period is inclined to reduce but the ripple depth tends to become pronounced. Theoretical analyses suggest that the transient dielectric function change of the tungsten surface mainly originates from the nonequilibrium distribution of electrons due to the d-band transitions. A sandwich-like physical model of air?Cplasma?Ctarget is proposed and the excitation of a surface plasmon polaritonic (SPP) wave is supposed to occur on the interface between the metallic target and the electron plasma layer. Formation of ripples can be eventually attributed to the laser?CSPP interference. Theoretical interpretations are consistent with the experimental observations.  相似文献

Considerable progress of microwave pumping of excimer laser gas mixtures has been achieved. The present measurable best values for the pulse energy lie in the mJ range. A microwave pulse compression technique is applied using a resonantly charged microwave cavity. We report the fabrication of graphitic microstructures in the bulk of chemical vapor deposited (CVD) diamond using 120-fs laser pulses at 800-nm wavelength. The nature of the laser-modified region and generation of mechanical stresses in the surrounding diamond is studied with Raman spectroscopy. A spontaneous growth of the laser-modified region from the focal plane towards the laser has been visualized in the process of multipulse irradiation with different pulse energies. The formation of discrete or continuous graphitized structures is revealed depending on the varied local laser intensity. The physical processes governing the appearance of separate graphitic globules and continuous extension of the graphitized region are discussed. Controlling the laser irradiation conditions permits us to fabricate graphitic wires with typical length of 150 μm and diameter of 1.5 μm. The longer, 300-ps pulses, as applied to laser microstructuring of the CVD diamond bulk, are found to be inappropriate due to the stronger influence of structural defects on the damage threshold, the noticeable fluctuation of the structure diameter over the length and the pronounced cracking of the surrounding diamond.
