We show that a near‐diagonal lower bound of the heat kernel of a Dirichlet form on a metric measure space with a regular measure implies an on‐diagonal upper bound. If in addition the Dirichlet form is local and regular, then we obtain a full off‐diagonal upper bound of the heat kernel provided the Dirichlet heat kernel on any ball satisfies a near‐diagonal lower estimate. This reveals a new phenomenon in the relationship between the lower and upper bounds of the heat kernel. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Here we consider initial boundary value problems for the heat equation by using the heat potential representation for the solution. Depending on the choice of the representation we are led to a solution of the various boundary integral equations. We discuss the solvability of these equations in anisotropic Sobolev spaces. It turns out that the double-layer heat potential D and its spatial adjoint D′ have smoothing properties similar to the single-layer heat operator. This yields compactness of the operators D and D′. In addition, for any constant c ≠ 0, cI + D′ and cI + D′ are isomorphisms. Based on the coercivity of the single-layer heat operator and the above compactness we establish the coerciveness of the hypersingular heat operator. Moreover, we show an equivalence between the weak solution and the various boundary integral solutions. As a further application we describe a coupling procedure for an exterior initial boundary value problem for the non-homogeneous heat equation.  相似文献

We consider the homogenization of a time‐dependent heat transfer problem in a highly heterogeneous periodic medium made of two connected components having comparable heat capacities and conductivities, separated by a third material with thickness of the same order ε as the basic periodicity cell but having a much lower conductivity such that the resulting interstitial heat flow is scaled by a factor λ tending to zero with a rate λ=λ(ε). The heat flux vectors aj, j=1,2,3 are non‐linear, monotone functions of the temperature gradient. The heat capacities cj(x) are positive, but may vanish at some subsets such that the problem can be degenerate (parabolic–elliptic). We show that the critical value of the problem is δ=limε→0εp/λ and identify the homogenized problem depending on whether δ is zero, strictly positive finite or infinite. We solve the thermoplastic problem for a semi-infinite plate under local nonstationary heating by heat sources. The physical equations are taken to be the relations of the nonisothermic theory of plastic flow associated with the Mises fluidity condition. The solution of the problem is constructed by the method of integral equations and the self-correcting method of sequential loading, where time is taken as the loading parameter. We carry out numerical computations of the stresses in the case of heating a plate with heat output by normal-circular heat sources. We study the problem of optimization of heating regimes in order to introduce favorable residual compressive stresses (from the point of view of hardness) in a given region of a half-plane. A theorem of Hardy characterizes the Gauss kernel (heat kernel of the Laplacian) on ℝ from estimates on the function and its Fourier transform. In this article we establisha full group version of the theorem for SL2(ℝ) which can accommodate functions with arbitraryK-types. We also consider the ‘heat equation’ of the Casimir operator, which plays the role of the Laplacian for the group. We show that despite the structural difference of the Casimir with the Laplacian on ℝn or the Laplace—Beltrami operator on the Riemannian symmetric spaces, it is possible to have a heat kernel. This heat kernel for the full group can also be characterized by Hardy-like estimates.  相似文献

Some of the variation formulas of a metric were derived in the literatures by using the local coordinates system, In this paper, We give the first and the second variation formulas of the Riemannian curvature tensor, Ricci curvature tensor and scalar curvature of a metric by using the moving frame method. We establish a relation between the variation of the volume of a metric and that of a submanifold. We find that the latter is a consequence of the former. Finally we give an application of these formulas to the variations of heat invariants. We prove that a conformally flat metric g is a critical point of the third heat invariant functional for a compact 4-dimensional manifold M, then (M, g) is either scalar flat or a space form.  相似文献

We consider a model for transient conductive-radiative heat transfer in grey materials. Since the domain contains an enclosed cavity, nonlocal radiation boundary conditions for the conductive heat-flux are taken into account. We generalize known existence and uniqueness results to the practically relevant case of lower integrable heat-sources, and of nonsmooth interfaces. We obtain energy estimates that involve only the L p norm of the heat sources for exponents p close to one. Such estimates are important for the investigation of models in which the heat equation is coupled to Maxwell’s equations or to the Navier-Stokes equations (dissipative heating), with many applications such as crystal growth.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend to the non-convex case the affine invariant geometric heat equation studied by Sapiro and Tannenbaum for convex plane curves. We prove that a smooth embedded plane curve will converge to a point when evolving according to this flow. This result extends the analogy between the affine heat equation and the well-known Euclidean geometric heat equation.

We propose a mathematical model for computing the heat exchange in a masked color kinescope taking account of the specific geometry of its shell and the actual three-dimensional character of the heat emission in the mask. In this paper, we consider the heat flow for the Hsystem with constant mean curvature in higher dimensions. We give sufficient conditions on the initial data such that the heat flow develops finite time singularity. We construct a fundamental solution of the equations of thermoelastic bending of orthotropic plates under symmetric heat transfer and a linear heart distribution over the thickness.
