In this research, thermo‐ and pH‐responsive chitosan‐based porous nanoparticles were prepared by the temperature‐dependent self assembly method. The chitosan‐graft‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (CS‐g‐PNIPAAm) copolymer solution was prepared through polymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) monomer in the presence of chitosan (CS) solution using cerium ammounium nitrate as the initiator. Then, CS‐g‐PNIPAAm solution was diluted by deionized water and heated to 40 °C for CS‐g‐PNIPAAm self‐assembly. After that, CS‐g‐PNIPAAm assembled to form micelles in which shell layer was CS. Crosslinking agent was used to reinforce the micelle structure to form nanoparticle. The molar ratio of CS/NIPAAm in the feed mixture was changed to investigate its effect on structure, morphology, thermal‐ and pH‐responsive properties of the nanoparticles. TEM images showed that a porous structure of nanoparticles was developed. The synthesized nanoparticles carried positive charges on the surface and exhibited stimuli‐responsive properties, and their mean diameter thus could be manipulated by changing pH value and temperature of the environment. The nanoparticles showed a continuous release of the encapsulated doxycycline hyclate up to 10 days during an in‐vitro release experiment. These porous particles with environmentally sensitive properties are expected to be utilized in hydrophilic drug delivery system. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel POSS‐containing methacrylate monomer (HEMAPOSS) was fabricated by extending the side chain between polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) unit and methacrylate group, which can efficiently decrease the steric hindrance in free‐radical polymerization of POSS‐methacrylate monomer. POSS‐containing homopolymers (PHEMAPOSS) with a higher degree of polymerization (DP) can be prepared using HEMAPOSS monomer via reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. PHEMAPOSS was further used as the macro‐RAFT agent to construct a series of amphiphilic POSS‐containing poly(N, N‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) diblock copolymers, PHEMAPOSS‐b‐PDMAEMA. PHEMAPOSS‐b‐PDMAEMA block copolymers can self‐assemble into a plethora of morphologies ranging from irregular assembled aggregates to core‐shell spheres and further from complex spheres (pearl‐necklace‐liked structure) to large compound vesicles. The thermo‐ and pH‐responsive behaviors of the micelles were also investigated by dynamic laser scattering, UV spectroscopy, SEM, and TEM. The results reveal the reversible transition of the assembled morphologies from spherical micelles to complex micelles was realized through acid‐base control. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. In this research, thermo‐ and pH‐responsive nanoparticles with an average diameter of about 50–200 nm were synthesized via the surfactant‐free emulsion polymerization. The thermal/pH dual responsive properties of these nanoparticles were designed by the addition of a pH sensitive monomer, acrylic acid (AA), to be copolymerized with N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) in a chitosan (CS) solution. The molar ratio of CS/AA/NIPAAm in the feed was changed to investigate its effect on structure, morphology, thermal‐ and pH‐responsive properties of the nanoparticles. It was found that CS‐PAA‐PNIPAAm nanoparticles could be well dispersed in the aqueous solution and carried positive charges on the surface. The addition of thermal‐sensitive NIPAAm monomer affected the polymerization mechanism and interactions between CS and AA. The particle size of the nanoparticles was found to be varied with the composition of NIPAAm monomer in the feed. The synthesized nanoparticles exhibited stimuli‐responsive properties, and their mean diameter thus could be manipulated by changing pH value and temperature of the environment. The nanoparticles showed a continuous release of the encapsulated doxycycline hyclate up to 10 days during an in vitro release experiment. The environmentally responsive nanoparticles are expected to be used in many fields such as drug delivery system. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report on the preparation of reduction‐responsive amphiphilic block copolymers containing pendent p‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (pNBC)‐caged primary amine moieties by reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) radical polymerization using a poly(ethylene glycol)‐based macro‐RAFT agent. The block copolymers self‐assembled to form micelles or vesicles in water, depending on the length of hydrophobic block. Triggered by a chemical reductant, sodium dithionite, the pNBC moieties decomposed through a cascade 1,6‐elimination and decarboxylation reactions to liberate primary amine groups of the linkages, resulting in the disruption of the assemblies. The reduction sensitivity of assemblies was affected by the length of hydrophobic block and the structure of amino acid‐derived linkers. Using hydrophobic dye Nile red (NR) as a model drug, the polymeric assemblies were used as nanocarriers to evaluate the potential for drug delivery. The NR‐loaded nanoparticles demonstrated a reduction‐triggered release profile. Moreover, the liberation of amine groups converted the reduction‐responsive polymer into a pH‐sensitive polymer with which an accelerated release of NR was observed by simultaneous application of reduction and pH triggers. It is expected that these reduction‐responsive block copolymers can offer a new platform for intracellular drug delivery. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Self‐immolative polymers (SIPs) undergo depolymerization in response to the cleavage of stimuli‐responsive end‐caps from their termini. Some classes of SIPs, including polycarbamates, have depolymerization rates that depend on environmental factors such as solvent and pH. In previous work, hydrophobic SIPs have been incorporated into amphiphilic block copolymers and used to prepare nanoassemblies. However, stimuli‐responsive hydrophilic blocks have not previously been incorporated. In this work, we synthesized amphiphilic copolymers composed of a hydrophobic polycarbamate SIP block and a hydrophilic poly(2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) block connected by a UV light‐responsive linker end‐cap. It was hypothesized that after assembly of the block copolymers into nanoparticles, chain collapse of the PDMAEMA above its lower critical solution temperature (LCST) might change the environment of the SIP block, thereby altering its depolymerization rate. Self‐assembly of the block copolymers was performed, and the depolymerization of the resulting assemblies was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, and NMR spectroscopy. At 20 °C, the system exhibited a selective response to the UV light. At 65 °C, above the LCST of PDMAEMA, the systems underwent more rapid depolymerization, suggesting that the increase in rate arising from the higher temperature dominated over environmental effects arising from chain collapse. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We reported that multiresponsive amphiphilic graft poly(ether amine)s (agPEAs) comprised of hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and hydrophobic octadecyl alkyl chain as side‐chain were prepared through one‐pot synthesis. In aqueous solution, these obtained agPEAs can self‐assemble into stable nanomicelles, whose aggregation can be controlled by temperature, pH, and ionic strength with tunable cloud point (CP). In the presence of these obtained agPEAs, hydrophobic dye Nile red can be dispersed into aqueous solution and hydrophilic dye methyl orange can be dispersed into nonpolar toluene. The agPEAs are expected to be potential in application such as encapsulation and controlled release of drugs, due to their simple synthesis, amphiphilicity, and multistimuli response. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New poly(ethylene oxide)‐based block copolymers (ssBCs) with a random copolymer block consisting of a reduction‐responsive disulfide‐labeled methacrylate (HMssEt) and a thermoresponsive di(ethylene glycol)‐containing methacrylate (MEO2MA) units were synthesized. The ratio of HMssEt/MEO2MA units in the random P(MEO2MA‐co‐HMssEt) copolymer block enables the characteristics of well‐defined ssBCs to be amphiphilic or thermoresponsive and double hydrophilic. Their amphiphilicity or temperature‐induced self‐assembly results in nanoaggregates with hydrophobic cores having different densities of pendant disulfide linkages. The effect of disulfide crosslinking density on morphological variation of disulfide‐crosslinked nanogels is investigated. In response to reductive reactions, the partial cleavage of pendant disulfide linkages in the hydrophobic cores converts the physically associated aggregates to disulfide‐crosslinked nanogels. The occurrence of in‐situ disulfide crosslinks provides colloidal stability upon dilution. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2014 , 52, 2057–2067  相似文献

This article reports on studies regarding the photoisomerization kinetics and self‐assembly behaviors of two photoresponsive diblock copolymers, poly(4‐acetoxystyrene)‐block‐poly[6‐(4‐methoxy‐azobenzene‐4′‐oxy) hexyl acrylate] (poly(StO54b‐Cazo9) and poly(StO54b‐Cazo5)), which dissolved in a THF/H2O solution through two‐step reverse addition‐fragmentation transfer polymerization. We examined the effect of heating methods (i.e., conventional and microwave heating) on the polymerization kinetics of a 4‐acetoxystyrene‐based macrochain transfer agent (StO macro‐CTA). The kinetics studies on the homopolymerization of StO by using microwave heating demonstrated controllable characteristics with relatively narrow polydispersities at ~1.14. The diblock copolymers exhibited moderate thermal stability, with thermal decomposition temperatures greater than 343.3 °C, suggesting that the enhancement of the thermal stability was due to the incorporation of azobenzene segments into block copolymers. Poly(StO54b‐Cazo9) showed lower photoisomerization rate constants (kt = 0.039 s?1) compared with Cazo monomer (kt = 0.097 s?1). Micellar aggregates with a mean diameter of approximately 238.3 nm were formed by gradually adding water to the THF solution (water content = 10 vol %), and are shown in SEM and TEM images of the diblock copolymer. The results of this study contribute to the literature regarding the development of photoresponsive polymer materials. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. A series of novel “jellyfish‐like” graft copolymers with chitooligosaccharide (COS) as shorter backbone and poly(ε‐caprolactone) as longer branches were synthesized using ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone via a protection‐polymerization‐deprotection procedure with trimethylsilylchitooligosaccharide as intermediate and triethylaluminum as catalyst precursor. The obtained chitooligosaccharide‐graft‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) polymers possess amphiphilic structure with hydrophilic COS backbone and hydrophobic polycaprolactone branches. Because of this unique “jellyfish‐like” structure, these graft copolymers could self‐assemble to form various morphologies of aggregates in a mixture solution of water and tetrahydrofuran. The transmission electron microscopy studies revealed that the formed aggregates exhibited necklace‐like, flower‐like onion vesicle, and tubular morphologies. It is found that the hydrogen‐bonding formed by the hydroxyl and amino groups remained on the COS backbone played an important role during the aggregation of these graft copolymers, and their morphologies were changed with the varying length of poly (ε‐caprolactone) branches, the concentration of the graft copolymer, and the self‐assembly process. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fluorinated block copolymers combine the unique properties of fluoropolymers and the intriguing self‐assembly of hybrid macromolecules. The preparation of the title molecules by selective fluorination procedures and the effect of fluorine incorporation on the material thermodynamics are presented. We highlight two fluorination schemes developed in our laboratory, difluorocarbene and perfluoroalkyliodide additions to polydienes, that allow for the selective and tunable incorporation of different fluorinated groups into model block copolymers. The fluorination changes the physical properties of the parent materials and leads to interesting changes in the component incompatibilities. The role of fluorination in determining block copolymer thermodynamics in both the solid state and in solution and in ultimately exploiting fluorination to produce novel, higher order structures is central to our research efforts. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Novel amphiphilic comb‐dendronized diblock copolymers composed of hydrophobic Percec‐type dendronized polystyrene block and hydrophilic comb‐like poly(ethylene oxide) grafted polymethacrylate P(PEOMA) block were designed and synthesized via two steps of atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The comb‐like P(PEOMA) prepared by ATRP of macromonomers (PEOMA) with two different molecular weights (Mn = 300 and 475) were used to initiate the sequent ATRP of dendritic styrene macromonomer (DS). The molecular weights and compositions of the obtained block copolymers were determined by 1H NMR analysis. The copolymers with relatively narrow polydispersities (1.27–1.38) were thus obtained. The bulk properties of comb‐dendronized block copolymers were studied by using differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopy and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD). Similar to dendronized homopolymers, the block copolymers exhibited hexagonal columnar liquid‐crystalline phase structure. By using such amphiphilic comb‐dendronized block copolymers as building blocks, the rich self‐assembly morphologies, such as twisted string, vesicle, and large compound micelle (LCM), were obtained in a mixture of CH3OH and THF. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Biological systems feature controlled assembly of well‐defined building blocks at different length scales. While major progress has been achieved in directing the assembly of synthetic molecular building blocks, controlled organization of nanostructured units into micro‐ and macroscale aggregates remains a challenge. Herein, we report the synthesis of well‐defined nanostructured building blocks, cylindrical polymeric nanoparticles with controlled dimensions and inner surface chemistry, and their dynamic anisotropic organization into one‐dimensional assemblies. Nanoparticle building blocks were produced by molecular templating of cylindrical bottlebrush copolymers featuring tricomponent side chains. The produced nanostructures were composed of a nonionic and bioinert polyethylene glycol (PEG) shell and stimuli‐responsive poly(methacrylic acid) (PMA) chains grafted on the interior. We show that pH‐dependent interactions between PMA chains exposed only at the nanoparticle ends lead to anisotropic end‐to‐end association of parent cylindrical nanostructures into elongated superstructures. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Solution self‐assembly of amphiphilic “rod‐coil” copolymers, especially linear block copolymers and graft copolymers (also referred to as polymer brushes), has attracted considerable interest, as replacing one of the blocks of a coil‐coil copolymer with a rigid segment results in distinct self‐assembly features compared with those of the coil‐coil copolymer. The unique interplay between microphase separation of the rod and coil blocks with great geometric disparities can lead to the formation of unusual morphologies that are distinctly different from those known for coil‐coil copolymers. This review presents the recent achievements in the controlled self‐assembly of rod‐coil linear block copolymers and graft copolymers in solution, focusing on copolymer systems containing conjugated polymers, liquid crystalline polymers, polypeptides, and polyisocyanates as the rod segments. The discussions concentrate on the principle of controlling over the morphology of rod‐coil copolymer assemblies, as well as their distinctive optical and optoelectronic properties or biocompatibility and stimuli‐responsiveness, which afford the assemblies great potential as functional materials particularly for optical, optoelectronic and biological applications. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Diblock copolymers of poly[2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate]‐block‐poly[di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate], PDMAEMA‐b‐PDEGMA, were synthesized by reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. The block ratio was varied to study the influence on the lower critical solution temperature and the corresponding phase transition in water. Therefore, turbidimetry, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and laser Doppler velocimetry were applied. Additionally, asymmetric flow field‐flow fractionation (AF4) coupled to DLS and multiangle laser light scattering (MALLS) was established as an alternative route to characterize these systems in terms of molar mass of the polymer chain and size of the colloids after the phase transition. It was found that AF4–MALLS allowed accurate determination of molar masses in the studied range. Nevertheless, some limitations were observed, which were critically discussed. The cloud point and phase transition of all materials, as revealed by turbidimetry, could be confirmed by DSC. For block copolymers with block ratios in the range of 50:50, a thermo‐induced self‐assembly into micellar and vesicular structures with hydrodynamic radii (Rh) of around 25 nm was observed upon heating. At higher temperatures, a reordering of the self‐assembled structures could be detected. The thermo‐responsive behavior was further investigated in dependence of pH value and ionic strength. Variation of the pH value mainly influences the solubility of the PDMAEMA segment, where a decrease of the pH value increases the transition temperature. An increase of ionic strength leads to a reduction of the cloud point due to the screening of electrostatic interactions. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. In this paper, temperature and pH‐sensitive interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) nanogels (NGs) were firstly prepared, and magnetic hybrid NGs were made through in‐situ precipitation of Fe2+ and Fe3+ into the IPN NGs. Under the optimized condition, the resulting hybrid NG dispersion with up to 17.3 wt% magnetite was stable, while the size distribution of the NGs is broad due to the formation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles outside the NGs. In order to synthesize relatively uniform magnetic NGs, magnetite content was reduced to 8.1 wt% magnetite. The NGs with 8.1 wt% magnetite can quickly self‐assemble into colloidal crystals induced by magnet, while such NGs slowly self‐assembled into colloidal crystals without external magnetic field. Furthermore, the reflection wavelength of the self‐assembled magnetic NGs showed red‐shift with increasing pH and temperature.  相似文献

Thermo‐responsive block‐graft fluoropolymer is synthesized and investigated the self‐assembly morphology and the tunable wettability surface on cotton fabric by dip‐coating into the micelles with different temperatures. Well‐defined block‐graft copolymer is prepared by click chemistry with poly(hexafluorobutyl methacrylate)‐block‐poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PHFBMA‐b‐PGMA) and homopolymer poly(N‐isopropylacrylate) with alkyne on main chain (Alkynyl‐PNIPAM) to synthesize final block‐graft polymer PHFBMA‐b‐(PGMA‐g‐PNIPAM). The thermo‐responsive behaviors of block‐graft polymer prove that the diameter for fluoropolymer micelle is about 50–70 nm with uniform sphere shape at room temperature and bigger and broader at 40 °C. The surface of cotton fabric processed in micelle solution at room temperature is smooth and has good hydrophobic property, while it has the hydrophilic property dipped in high temperature micelle solution. This work may give valuable guidance for fabricating a facile strategy to establish controllable wettability surfaces on different substrates, which is a promising candidate for the coating materials and industrial fields. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Multisegmented poly(methacrylate)s were synthesized using one pot reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. Initially, a series of triblock copolymers were synthesized with different ratios of trimethylsilyl methacrylate, di(ethylene oxide) methacrylate, and oligo(ethylene oxide) methacrylate, and different total polymer molecular weights. Additionally, a polymer containing seven distinct blocks of methacrylic monomers was synthesized in one pot. For the triblock copolymers, the trimethylsilyl group was subsequently hydrolyzed, and the self‐assembly of the triblock copolymer was studied in water, under different pH and thermal conditions. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, a novel type of amphiphilic block copolymers poly(lactic acid)‐block‐poly(ascorbyl acrylate) (PLA‐block‐PAAA) with biodegradable poly(lactic acid) as hydrophobic block and poly(ascorbyl acrylate) (PAAA) as hydrophilic block was successfully developed by a combination of ring‐opening polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization, followed by hydrogenation under normal pressure. The chemical structures of the desired copolymers were characterized by 1H NMR and gel permeation chromatography. The thermal physical properties and crystallinity were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and wide angle X‐ray diffraction, respectively. Their self‐assembly behavior was monitored by fluorescence‐probe technique and turbidity change using UV–vis spectrometer, and the morphology and size of the nanocarriers via self‐assembly were detected by cryo‐transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering. These polymeric micelles with PAAA shell extending into the aqueous solution have potential abilities to act as promising nanovehicles for targeting drug delivery. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A facile synthetic strategy for preparing hydroxylated polymethacrylate amphiphilic block copolymers (PCzMMA‐b‐PBMMA, PFlMMA‐b‐PBMMA) incorporated with primary and secondary hydroxyl groups and electroactive moieties along the polymer backbone is reported. Full characterization, structure‐property relationship and self‐assembly of these polymers are discussed. Due to interplay of hydrophobic/hydrophilic interactions, PCzMMA‐b‐PBMMA formed a layered lattice and PFlMMA‐b‐PBMMA showed a vesicular morphology. Electropolymerization of the electroactive units led to the formation of cross‐conjugated polymer network in solution and in thin films. The network structure was characterized with a range of spectroscopic techniques. Such highly processable polymers may be of interest to applications in which a conducting amphiphilic films with strong adhesion to various substrates are required. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J.
