A highly crosslinked hyperbranched polymer that rapidly swells and shrinks in a halogenated solvent in response to the addition of an acid or base has been prepared by Cu(I) catalysis of the reaction between a diazide and an amine‐containing trialkyne. The triazole linkages in the polymer are highly stable and may also play a role in the swelling behavior. The swelling–deswelling process is reversible. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 1,2,3‐Triazole‐based polymers generated from the Cu(I)‐catalyzed cycloaddition between multivalent azides and acetylenes are effective adhesive materials for metal surfaces. The adhesive capacities of candidate mixtures of azide and alkyne components were measured by a modified peel test, using a customized adhesive tester. A particularly effective tetravalent alkyne and trivalent azide combination was identified, giving exceptional strength that matches or exceeds the best commercial formulations. The addition of Cu catalyst was found to be important for the synthesis of stronger adhesive polymers when cured at room temperature. Heating also accelerated curing rates, but the maximum adhesive strengths achieved at both room temperature and high temperature were the same, suggesting that crosslinking reaches the same advanced point in all cases. Polytriazoles also form adhesives to aluminum, but copper is bound more effectively, presumably because active Cu(I) ions may be leached from the surface to promote crosslinking and adhesion. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Well‐defined linear furan‐protected maleimide‐terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG‐MI), tetramethylpiperidine‐1‐oxyl‐terminated poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL‐TEMPO), and azide‐terminated polystyrene (PS‐N3) or ‐poly(N‐butyl oxanorbornene imide) (PONB‐N3) were ligated to an orthogonally functionalized core ( 1 ) in a two‐step reaction mode through triple click reactions. In a first step, Diels–Alder click reaction of PEG‐MI with 1 was performed in toluene at 110 °C for 24 h to afford α‐alkyne‐α‐bromide‐terminated PEG (PEG‐alkyne/Br). As a second step, this precursor was subsequently ligated with the PCL‐TEMPO and PS‐N3 or PONB‐N3 in N,N‐dimethylformamide at room temperature for 12 h catalyzed by Cu(0)/Cu(I) through copper‐catalyzed azide‐alkyne cycloaddition and nitroxide radical coupling click reactions, yield resulting ABC miktoarm star polymers in a one‐pot mode. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polystyrene stars were synthesized with reversible addition–fragmentation chain‐transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The core of the stars comprised a trithiocarbonate heptafunctional β‐cyclodextrin ring. Polymerizations were performed at 100 and 120 °C in the absence of an extraneous initiator and at 60 °C in the presence of a radical initiator. Monofunctional trithiocarbonate was also synthesized and used to make linear polystyrene to allow direct a comparison with the star synthesis. In all cases, the polymerization kinetics conformed to pseudo‐first‐order behavior. The measured molecular weights of the stars were found to deviate from those predicted on the basis of the monomer/trithiocarbonate group ratio. The extent of this deviation was dependent on the polymerization temperature, RAFT agent concentration, and conversion. Despite the low radical concentrations, termination reactions are suggested to play a significant role in the seven‐arm polystyrene star syntheses. The synthetic method was found to be suitable for generating star block structures. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 4498–4512, 2002 相似文献

A combination of ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and click chemistry approach is first time utilized in the preparation of 3‐miktoarm star terpolymer. The bromide end‐functionality of monotelechelic poly(N‐butyl oxanorbornene imide) (PNBONI‐Br) is first transformed to azide and then reacted with polystyrene‐b‐poly(methyl methacrylate) copolymer with alkyne at the junction point (PS‐b‐PMMA‐alkyne) via click chemistry strategy, producing PS‐PMMA‐PNBONI 3‐miktoarm star terpolymer. PNBONI‐Br was prepared by ROMP of N‐butyl oxanorbornene imide (NBONI) 1 in the presence of (Z)‐but‐2‐ene‐1,4‐diyl bis(2‐bromopropanoate) 2 as terminating agent. PS‐b‐PMMA‐alkyne copolymer was prepared successively via nitroxide‐mediated radical polymerization (NMP) of St and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of MMA. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 4′‐Nonafluorobutylstyrene (3) was synthesized and polymerized by conventional and controlled radical polymerization (iodine transfer polymerization (ITP)). Such an aromatic fluoromonomer was prepared from Ullmann coupling between 1‐iodoperfluorobutane and 4‐bromoacetophenone followed by a reduction and a dehydration in 50% overall yield. Two radical polymerizations of (3) were initiated by AIBN either under conventional or controlled conditions, with 1‐iodoperfluorohexane in 84% monomer conversion and in 50% yield. ITP of (3) featured a fast monomer conversion and a linear evolution of the ln([M]0/[M]) versus time. The kinetics of radical homopolymerization of (3) enabled one to assess its square of the propagation rate to the termination rate (kp2/kt) in ITP conditions (36.2·10?2 l·mol?2·sec?2 at 80 °C) from the Tobolsky's kinetic law. Polydispersity index (?) of the fluoropolymer achieved by conventional polymerization was 1.30 while it worthed 1.15 when synthesized by ITP. Thermal stabilities of these oligomers were satisfactory (10% weight loss under air occurred from 305 °C) whereas the melting point was 47 °C. Contact angles and surface energies assessed from spin‐coated poly(3) films obtained by conventional (hysteresis = 18°, surface energy 18 mN.m?1) and ITP (hysteresis = 47°, surface energy 15 mN.m?1) evidenced ? values' influence onto surface properties of the synthesized polymers. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The preparation of 3‐miktoarm star terpolymers using nitroxide mediated radical polymerization (NMP), ring opening polymerization (ROP), and click reaction [3 + 2] are carried out by applying two types of one‐pot technique. In the first one‐pot technique, NMP of styrene (St), ROP of ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL), and [3 + 2] click reaction (between azide end‐functionalized poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG‐N3)/or azide end‐functionalized poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA‐N3) and alkyne) are carried out in the presence of 2‐(hydroxymethyl)‐2‐methyl‐3‐oxo‐3‐(2‐phenyl‐2‐(2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidin‐1‐yloxy)ethoxy) propyl pent‐4‐ynoate, 2 , as an initiator for 48 h at 125 °C (one‐pot/one‐step). As a second technique, NMP of St and ROP of ε‐CL were conducted using 2 as an initiator for 20 h at 125 °C, and subsequently PEG‐N3 or azide end‐functionalized poly(tert‐butyl acrylate (PtBA‐N3) was added to the polymerization mixture, followed by a click reaction [3 + 2] for 24 h at room temperature (one‐pot/two‐step). The 3‐miktoarm star terpolymers, PEG‐poly(ε‐caprolactone)(PCL)‐PS, PtBA‐PCL‐PS and PMMA‐PCL‐PS, were recovered by a simple precipitation in methanol without further purification. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 3‐Arm star‐block copolymers, (polystyrene‐b‐poly(methyl methacrylate))3, (PS‐b‐PMMA)3, and (polystyrene‐b‐poly(ethylene glycol))3, (PS‐b‐PEG)3, are prepared using double‐click reactions: Huisgen and Diels–Alder, with a one‐pot technique. PS and PMMA blocks with α‐anthracene‐ω‐azide‐ and α‐maleimide‐end‐groups, respectively, are achieved using suitable initiators in ATRP of styrene and MMA, respectively. However, PEG obtained from a commercial source is reacted with 3‐acetyl‐N‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐7‐oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐5‐ene‐2‐carboxamide (7) to give furan‐protected maleimide‐end‐functionalized PEG. Finally, PS/PMMA and PS/PEG blocks are linked efficiently with trialkyne functional linking agent 1,1,1‐tris[4‐(2‐propynyloxy)phenyl]‐ethane 2 in the presence of CuBr/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) at 120 °C for 48 h to give two samples of 3‐arm star‐block copolymers. The results of the peak splitting using a Gaussian deconvolution of the obtained GPC traces for (PS‐b‐PMMA)3 and (PS‐b‐PEG)3 displayed that the yields of target 3‐arm star‐block copolymers were found to be 88 and 82%, respectively. © Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of five homopolymers (PS)3 and the corresponding diblock copolymer 3‐arm stars of the (PS‐b‐P2VP)3 type is reported through atom transfer radical polymerization. Such star homo‐ and copolymers are prepared without any addition of solvent (bulk polymerization). The kinetics study results lead to the ability of predicting the best polymerization time with high values of monomer to polymer conversion, sufficient polydispersity indices and average molecular weights. Molecular characterization through size exclusion chromatography, viscometry, low‐angle laser light scattering, proton and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR and 13C NMR, respectively) verified the successful synthesis of both homopolymer and copolymer 3‐arm star‐like architectures. Furthermore, the morphological characterization of the final copolymers is reported through transmission electron microscopy studies verifying the self‐assembly without any indication of homopolymer or Cu(I) traces. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A variety of conditions, including catalysts [CuCl, CuI, Cu2O, and Cu(0)], ligands [2,2′‐bipyridine (bpy), tris(2‐dimethylaminoethyl)amine (Me6‐TREN), polyethyleneimine, and hexamethyl triethylenetetramine], initiators [CH3CHClI, CH2I2, CHI3, and F(CF2)8I], solvents [diphenyl ether, toluene, tetrahydrofuran, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), dimethylformamide, ethylene carbonate, dimethylacetamide, and cyclohexanone], and temperatures [90, 25, and 0 °C] were studied to assess previous methods for poly(methyl methacrylate)‐b‐poly(vinyl chloride)‐b‐poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA‐b‐PVC‐b‐PMMA) synthesis by the living radical block copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) initiated with α,ω‐di(iodo)poly(vinyl chloride). CH3CHClI was used as a model for α,ω‐di(iodo)poly(vinyl chloride) employed as a macroinitiator in the living radical block copolymerization of MMA. Two groups of methods evolved. The first involved CuCl/bpy or Me6‐TREN at 90 °C, whereas the second involved Cu(0)/Me6‐TREN in DMSO at 25 or 0 °C. Related ligands were used in both methods. The highest initiator efficiency and rate of polymerization were obtained with Cu(0)/Me6‐TREN in DMSO at 25 °C. This demonstrated that the ultrafast block copolymerization reported previously is the most efficient with respect to the rate of polymerization and precision of the PMMA‐b‐PVC‐b‐PMMA architecture. Moreover, Cu(0)/Me6‐TREN‐catalyzed polymerization exhibits an external first order of reaction in DMSO, and so this solvent has a catalytic effect in this living radical polymerization (LRP). This polymerization can be performed between 90 and 0 °C and provides access to controlled poly(methyl methacrylate) tacticity by LRP and block copolymerization. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
