A reversible and temperature‐dependent proton‐relay process is demonstrated for a Fe2 complex possessing a terminal thiolate in the presence of nitrogen‐based acids. The terminal sulfur site (St) of the complex forms a hydrogen‐bond interaction with N,N‐dimethylanilinium acid at 183 K. The Fe2 core, instead, is protonated to generate a bridging hydride at 298 K. Reversibility is observed for the tautomerization between the hydrogen‐bonded pair and the Fe–hydride species. X‐ray structural analysis of the hydrogen‐bonded species at 193 K reveals a short N(H)???St contact. Employment of pyridinium acid also results in similar behavior, with reversible proton–hydride interconversion. DFT investigation of the proton‐transfer pathways indicates that the pKa value of the hydrogen‐bonded species is enhanced by 3.2 pKa units when the temperature is decreased from 298 K to 183 K.  相似文献

The effect of methyl group on the strength of the ionic hydrogen bond between C2H2 and H3O+ has been studied with quantum chemical calculations at the UMP2/6‐311++G(d,p) level. The presence of a methyl group in the proton acceptor results in an energetic increase of 6.02 kcal/mol, increased by about 39%, whereas that in the proton donor leads to an energetic decrease of 2.18 kcal/mol, decreased by 14%. The charge analyses indicate that the methyl group in the proton acceptor is electron‐donating and that in the proton donor is electron‐withdrawing. The former plays a positive contribution to the formation of ionic hydrogen bond and the latter plays a negative contribution to the formation of ionic hydrogen bond. The weakening effect of solvent on the role of methyl group in the ionic hydrogen bond has also been studied at the UB3LYP/6‐311++G(d,p) level. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The structures of hydrogen‐bonded complexes A–Fn (n = 2–7) of adenine with polyformamide molecules have been fully optimized at B3LYP/6‐31G(d) basis set level. All the formamide molecules prefer to be N? H proton donor rather than C? H proton donor and are favorably bound to the five‐numbered moiety of adenine. A displacement of formamide molecules to one side of adenine mean plane has happened with an increasing number of formamide molecules. An obvious effect of hydrogen‐bonding cooperativity can be seen during the complex process. The most interesting geometrical change of adenine upon the complex is the shortening of the bond C4? N6 resulting from the strengthening of the conjugation between the π system of the adenine ring and the lone pair of the nitrogen atom. An existence of weak N? H···π bonding interaction between the π system of adenine and N? H bond of F7 is found and further conformed by an natural bond orbital analysis specially carried out on A–F7. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2008  相似文献

Magnetic shielding constants are calculated for the protons in XOH and XOH…OH2 (XH, CH3, NH2, OH and F) molecules using a slightly extended set of atomic functions modified by gauge factors. These results are used to determine theoretical values for the NMR hydrogen bond shifts in the XOH…OH2 systems. Such theoretical data are consistent with the few available experimental data. An analysis of the theoretical results reveals that there are three major types of shielding contribution to the NMR hydrogen bond shift; (a) a deshielding change due to the variation of the local currents on the hydrogen bonded proton; (b) a reduction in shielding from currents localized on the oxygen atom of the proton donor; (c) a deshielding contribution from currents induced on the oxygen atom of the proton acceptor. Except for the water dimer, contributions (a), (b) and (c) are of comparable importance for changes in isotropic shielding. For (H2O)2 contributions (a) and (c) are somewhat more important than contribution (b). Contribution (c) is almost totally responsible for the changes in the anistropies of the shielding tensors associated with the hydrogen bonded protons. The proton shielding anisotropy changes which occur on hydrogen bond formation are generally much larger than the corresponding variations in the isotropic values of the shielding tensors. This suggests that proton magnetic shielding anisotropies may be more sensitive measures of features of hydrogen bonding than are isotropic proton shielding constants.  相似文献

In this study, the seGVB method was implemented for the N H bonding system, specifically for hydrogen‐bonded ammonia complexes, and the model well reproduces the MP2 geometries and energetics. A comparison between the ammonia dimer and water dimer is given from the viewpoint of valance‐bond structures in terms of the calculated bond energies and pair–pair interactions. The linear hydrogen bond is found to be stronger than the bent bonds in both cases, with the difference in energy between the linear and cyclic structures being comparable in both cases although the NH bonds are generally weaker. The energy decomposition clearly demonstrates that the changes in electronic energy are quite different in the two cases due to the presence of an additional lone pair on the water molecule, and it is this effect which leads to the net stabilization of the cyclic structure for the ammonia dimer. Proton‐transfer profiles for hydrogen‐bonded ammonia complexes [NH2 H NH2] and [NH3 H NH3]+ were calculated. The barrier for proton transfer in [NH3 H NH3]+ is larger than that in [NH2 H NH2], but smaller than that in the protonated water dimer. The different bonding structures substantially affect the barrier to proton transfer, even though they are isoelectronic systems. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The dynamics of the excited states of 1‐aminofluoren‐9‐one (1AF) and 1‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)‐fluoren‐9‐one (1DMAF) are investigated by using steady‐state absorption and fluorescence as well as subpicosecond time‐resolved absorption spectroscopic techniques. Following photoexcitation of 1AF, which exists in the intramolecular hydrogen‐bonded form in aprotic solvents, the excited‐state intramolecular proton‐transfer reaction is the only relaxation process observed in the excited singlet (S1) state. However, in protic solvents, the intramolecular hydrogen bond is disrupted in the excited state and an intermolecular hydrogen bond is formed with the solvent leading to reorganization of the hydrogen‐bond network structure of the solvent. The latter takes place in the timescale of the process of solvation dynamics. In the case of 1DMAF, the main relaxation pathway for the locally excited singlet, S1(LE), or S1(ICT) state is the configurational relaxation, via nearly barrierless twisting of the dimethylamino group to form the twisted intramolecular charge‐transfer, S1(TICT), state. A crossing between the excited‐state and ground‐state potential energy curves is responsible for the fast, radiationless deactivation and nonemissive character of the S1(TICT) state in polar solvents, both aprotic and protic. However, in viscous but strong hydrogen‐bond‐donating solvents, such as ethylene glycol and glycerol, crossing between the potential energy surfaces for the ground electronic state and the hydrogen‐bonded complex formed between the S1(TICT) state and the solvent is possibly avoided and the hydrogen‐bonded complex is weakly emissive.  相似文献

A novel three‐dimensional framework of 2‐[(1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)methyl]‐1H‐benzimidazole dihydrate, C11H10N4·2H2O or L·2H2O, (I), in which L acts as both hydrogen‐bond acceptor and donor in the supramolecular construction with water, has been obtained by self‐assembly reaction of L with H2O. The two independent water molecules are hydrogen bonded alternately with each other to form a one‐dimensional infinite zigzag water chain. These water chains are linked by the benzimidazole molecules into a three‐dimensional framework, in which each organic molecule is hydrogen bonded by three water molecules. This study shows that the diversity of hydrogen‐bonded patterns plays a crucial role in the formation of the three‐dimensional framework. More significantly, as water molecules are important in contributing to the conformation, stability, function and dynamics of biomacromolecules, the infinite chains of hydrogen‐bonded water molecules seen in (I) may be a useful model for water in other chemical and biological processes.  相似文献

The crystal structure of 7‐methoxy‐1H‐indazole, C8H8N2O, an inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase, shows that the methoxy group lies in the plane of the indazole system with its methyl group located trans to the indazole N—H group. The crystal packing consists principally of hydrogen‐bonded trimers. Intermolecular hydrogen‐bonding interactions are formed between the indazole N atoms, with the N—H group as a hydrogen‐bond donor and the remaining N atom as an acceptor.  相似文献

The electron and proton transfer in phenol‐imidazole‐base systems (base = NH2? or OH?) were investigated by density‐functional theory calculations. In particular, the role of bridge imidazole on the electron and proton transfer was discussed in comparison with the phenol‐base systems (base = imidazole, H2O, NH3, OH?, and NH2?). In the gas phase phenol‐imidazole‐base system, the hydrogen bonding between the phenol and the imidazole is classified as short strong hydrogen bonding, whereas that between the imidazole and the base is a conventional hydrogen bonding. The n value in spn hybridization of the oxygen and carbon atoms of the phenolic CO sigma bond was found to be closely related to the CO bond length. From the potential energy surfaces without and with zero point energy correction, it can be concluded that the separated electron and proton transfer mechanism is suitable for the gas‐phase phenol‐imidazole‐base triads, in which the low‐barrier hydrogen bond is found and the delocalized phenolic proton can move freely in the single‐well potential. For the gas‐phase oxidized systems and all of the triads in water solvent, the homogeneous proton‐coupled electron transfer mechanism prevails. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the structure of 2‐(4‐chloroanilino)‐1,3,2λ4‐diazaphosphol‐2‐one, C12H11ClN3OP, each molecule is connected with four neighbouring molecules through (N—H)2…O hydrogen bonds. These hydrogen bonds form a tubular arrangement along the [001] direction built from R 33(12) and R 43(14) hydrogen‐bond ring motifs, combined with a C (4) chain motif. The hole constructed in the tubular architecture includes a 12‐atom arrangement (three P, three N, three O and three H atoms) belonging to three adjacent molecules hydrogen bonded to each other. One of the N—H groups of the diazaphosphole ring, not co‐operating in classical hydrogen bonding, takes part in an N—H…π interaction. This interaction occurs within the tubular array and does not change the dimension of the hydrogen‐bond pattern. The energies of the N—H…O and N—H…π hydrogen bonds were studied by NBO (natural bond orbital) analysis, using the experimental hydrogen‐bonded cluster of molecules as the input file for the chemical calculations. In the 1H NMR experiment, the nitrogen‐bound proton of the diazaphosphole ring has a high value of 17.2 Hz for the 2J H–P coupling constant.  相似文献

The catalytic activity of Pt nanoparticles (PtNPs) with different sizes and shapes was investigated in a photocatalytic hydrogen‐evolution system composed of the 9‐mesityl‐10‐methylacridinium ion (Acr+–Mes: photocatalyst) and dihydronicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH: electron donor), based on rates of hydrogen evolution and electron transfer from one‐electron‐reduced species of Acr+–Mes (Acr.–Mes) to PtNPs. Cubic PtNPs with a diameter of (6.3±0.6) nm exhibited the maximum catalytic activity. The observed hydrogen‐evolution rate was virtually the same as the rate of electron transfer from Acr.–Mes to PtNPs. The rate constant of electron transfer (ket) increased linearly with increasing proton concentration. When H+ was replaced by D+, the inverse kinetic isotope effect was observed for the electron‐transfer rate constant (ket(H)/ket(D)=0.47). The linear dependence of ket on proton concentration together with the observed inverse kinetic isotope effect suggests that proton‐coupled electron transfer from Acr.–Mes to PtNPs to form the Pt? H bond is the rate‐determining step for catalytic hydrogen evolution. When FeNPs were used instead of PtNPs, hydrogen evolution was also observed, although the hydrogen‐evolution efficiency was significantly lower than that of PtNPs because of the much slower electron transfer from Acr.–Mes to FeNPs.  相似文献

Ab initio and density functional theory studies have been performed on the hydrogen‐bonded complexes of neutral and protonated nicotine with ethanol, methanol, and trifluromethanol to explore their relative stability in a systematic way. Among all the hydrogen‐bonded nicotine complexes considered here, protonated forms in nicotine–ethanol and nicotine–methanol, and neutral form in nicotine–trifluromethanol complexes have been found to be the most stable. In the former two complexes, the proton attached to the pyrrolidine nitrogen acts as a strong hydrogen bond donor, whereas the pyrrolidine nitrogen atom acts as a hydrogen bond acceptor in the latter case. Neutral complex of nicotine with trifluromethanol has been found to possess a very short hydrogen bond (1.57 Å) and basis set superposition error corrected hydrogen bond energy value of 19 kcal/mol. The nature of the various hydrogen bonds formed has been investigated through topological aspects using Bader's atoms in molecules theory. From the calculated topological results, excellent linear correlation is shown to exist among the hydrogen bond length, electron density, and its Laplacian at the bond critical points for all the complexes considered. The natural bond orbital analysis has been carried out to investigate the charge transfer in the nicotine alcohol complexes. In contrast to the blue shifting behavior that is generally exhibited by other C? H···O hydrogen bonds involving sp3 carbon atom, the C? H···O hydrogen bond in the protonated nicotine–ethanol and methanol complexes has been found to be proper with red shifting in nature. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The geometric structures and infrared (IR) spectra in the electronically excited state of a novel doubly hydrogen‐bonded complex formed by fluorenone and alcohols, which has been observed by IR spectra in experimental study, are investigated by the time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) method. The geometric structures and IR spectra in both ground state and the S1 state of this doubly hydrogen‐bonded FN‐2MeOH complex are calculated using the DFT and TDDFT methods, respectively. Two intermolecular hydrogen bonds are formed between FN and methanol molecules in the doubly hydrogen‐bonded FN‐2MeOH complex. Moreover, the formation of the second intermolecular hydrogen bond can make the first intermolecular hydrogen bond become slightly weak. Furthermore, it is confirmed that the spectral shoulder at around 1700 cm?1 observed in the IR spectra should be assigned as the doubly hydrogen‐bonded FN‐2MeOH complex from our calculated results. The electronic excited‐state hydrogen bonding dynamics is also studied by monitoring some vibraitonal modes related to the formation of hydrogen bonds in different electronic states. As a result, both the two intermolecular hydrogen bonds are significantly strengthened in the S1 state of the doubly hydrogen‐bonded FN‐2MeOH complex. The hydrogen bond strengthening in the electronically excited state is similar to the previous study on the singly hydrogen‐bonded FN‐MeOH complex and play important role on the photophysics of fluorenone in solutions. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three polymorphic forms of 6,6′‐dimethyl‐2,2′‐bipyridinium chloranilate crystals were characterized to understand the origin of polarization properties and the thermal stability of ferroelectricity. According to the temperature‐dependent permittivity, differential scanning calorimetry, and X‐ray diffraction, structural phase transitions were found in all polymorphs. Notably, the ferroelectric α‐form crystal, which has the longest hydrogen bond (2.95 Å) among the organic acid/base‐type supramolecular ferroelectrics, transformed from a polar structure (space group, P21) into an anti‐polar structure (space group, P21/c) at 378 K. The non‐ferroelectric β‐ and γ‐form crystals also exhibited structural rearrangements around hydrogen bonds. The hydrogen‐bonded geometry and ferroelectric properties were compared with other supramolecular ferroelectrics. A positive relationship between the phase‐transition temperature (TC) and hydrogen‐bond length (<d>) was observed, and was attributed to the potential barrier height for proton off‐centering or order/disorder phenomena. The optimized spontaneous polarization (Ps) agreed well with the results of the first‐principles calculations, and could be amplified by separating the two equilibrium positions of protons with increasing <d>. These data consistently demonstrated that stretching <d> is a promising way to enhance the polarization performance and thermal stability of hydrogen‐bonded organic ferroelectrics.  相似文献

As a model system for intramolecular proton/hydrogen‐transfer coordinates, the structure of 2,5‐dihydroxybenzoic acid is investigated for the ground, first electronically excited and also the ionic state. Combined IR/UV spectroscopy in molecular‐beam experiments is applied and the experimental results are interpreted by the application of DFT and CASPT2 methods. No proton or hydrogen transfer is observed, but evidence is given for a hydrogen dislocation of the intramolecular hydrogen bond in the S1 state and to lesser extent in the D0 state. To obtain direct information on the proton/hydrogen‐transfer coordinate, IR spectra are recorded both in the region of the OH and especially the CO stretching vibrations by also applying two new variants of combined IR/UV spectroscopy for the S1 and D0 states. The CO groups are directly involved in the hydrogen bond and, in contrast to the hydrogen‐bonded OH groups, the CO stretching frequencies can be observed in all electronic states.  相似文献

Molecular interactions between uracil and nitrous acid (U–NA) [C4N2O2H4? NO2H] have been studied using B3LYP, B3PW91, and MP2 methods with different basis sets. The optimized geometries, harmonic vibrational frequencies, charge transfer, topological properties of electron density, nucleus‐independent chemical shift (NICS), and nuclear magnetic resonance one‐ and two‐bonds spin–spin coupling constants were calculated for U–NA complexes. In interaction between U and NA, eight cyclic complexes were obtained with two intermolecular hydrogen bonds N(C)HU…N(O) and OHNA…OU. In these complexes, uracil (U) simultaneously acts as proton acceptor and proton donor. The most stable complexes labeled, UNA1 and UNA2, are formed via NH bond of U with highest acidity and CO group of U with lowest proton affinity. There is a relationship between hydrogen bond distances and the corresponding frequency shifts. The solvent effect on complexes stability was examined using B3LYP method with the aug‐cc‐pVDZ basis set by applying the polarizable continuum model (PCM). The binding energies in the gas phase have also been compared with solvation energies computed using the PCM. Natural bond orbital analysis shows that in all complexes, the charge transfer takes place from U to NA. The results predict that the Lone Pair (LP)(O)U → σ*(O? H) and LP(N(O)NA → σ*(N(C)? H)U donor–acceptor interactions are most important interactions in these complexes. Atom in molecule analysis confirms that hydrogen bond contacts are electrostatic in nature and covalent nature of proton donor groups decreases upon complexation. The relationship between spin–spin coupling constant (1hJHY and 2hJHY) with interaction energy and electronic density at corresponding hydrogen bond critical points and H‐bonds distances are investigated. Various properties (such as optimal structures, structural parameters, hydrogen bonds, natural bond orbital charge distributions, binding energies, electron densities at hydrogen bond critical points, cooperative effects, and so on) of gas phase ethanol–(water)n (n = 1–5) clusters with the change in the number of water molecules have been systematically explored at the MP2/aug‐cc‐pVTZ//MP2/6‐311++G(d,p) computational level. The study of optimal structures shows that the most stable ethanol‐water heterodimer is the one where exists one primary hydrogen bond (O? H…O) and one secondary hydrogen bond (C? H …O) simultaneously. The cyclic geometric pattern formed by the primary hydrogen bonds, where all the molecules are proton acceptor and proton donor simultaneously, is the most stable configuration for ethanol–(water)n (n = 2–4) clusters, and a transition from two‐dimensional cyclic to three‐dimensional structures occurs at n = 5. At the same time, the cluster stability seems to correlate with the number of primary hydrogen bonds, because the secondary hydrogen bond was extremely weaker than the primary hydrogen bond. Furthermore, the comparison of cooperative effects between ethanol–water clusters and gas phase pure water clusters has been analyzed from two aspects. First of all, for the cyclic structure, the cooperative effect in the former is slightly stronger than that of the latter with the increasing of water molecules. Second, for the ethanol–(water)5 and (water)6 structure, the cooperative effect in the former is also correspondingly stronger than that of the latter except for the ethanol–(water)5 book structure. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The title compound, C9H12N6O3, shows a syn‐glycosylic bond orientation [χ = 64.17 (16)°]. The 2′‐deoxyfuranosyl moiety exhibits an unusual C1′‐exo–O4′‐endo (1T0; S‐type) sugar pucker, with P = 111.5 (1)° and τm = 40.3 (1)°. The conformation at the exocyclic C4′—C5′ bond is +sc (gauche), with γ = 64.4 (1)°. The two‐dimensional hydrogen‐bonded network is built from intermolecular N—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds. An intramolecular bifurcated hydrogen bond, with an amino N—H group as hydrogen‐bond donor and the ring and hydroxymethyl O atoms of the sugar moiety as acceptors, constrains the overall conformation of the nucleoside.  相似文献

Calculations of 1 JNH, 1h JNH and 2h JNN spin–spin coupling constants of 27 complexes presenting N–H·N hydrogen bonds have allowed to analyze these through hydrogen‐bond coupling as a function of the hybridization of both nitrogen atoms and the charge (+1, 0, ? 1) of the complex. The main conclusions are that the hybridization of N atom of the hydrogen bond donor is much more important than that of the hydrogen bond acceptor. Positive and negative charges (cationic and anionic complexes) exert opposite effects while the effect of the transition states ‘proton‐in‐the‐middle’ is considerable. We present a simple increment model for use in the rapid scoring of hydrogen bond strengths employing 15 chemically diverse donor and 28 acceptor terms. The increments cover a large variety of hydrogen bond donor and acceptor groups and are more specific than SYBYL atom types. The increments have been fitted to quantum chemical ab initio interaction energies of 81 small hydrogen‐bonded complexes determined at the level of second‐order Møller‐Plesset perturbation theory (MP2). The complexes have been chosen such as to represent the most important types of donor‐acceptor pairs found in biological systems. Sulphur is found to be a strong hydrogen bond acceptor while its donor capacities are weak. By taking CH acidic H donors into account, a linear correlation between MP2 energies and the increment model with a coefficient of correlation of r2 = 0.994 has been accomplished. The transferability of the fitted parameters has been assessed on a second set of complexes including larger molecules of biological relevance. Very good agreement has been achieved for noncyclic hydrogen bonds. Cooperative effects are not accounted for by the current increment model. For this reason, binding energies of strong cyclic hydrogen bonds, as e.g. present in DNA base pairs, are underestimated by about 30–40%. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Comput Chem, 2007  相似文献
