Oligosiloxanes containing thermally curable benzoxazine units in the main chain have been synthesized. For this purpose, first the diallyl functional monomer is synthesized through the Mannich and ring closing reaction of 4,4′‐isopropylidenediphenol (bisphenol A), formaldehyde and allylamine. Hydrosilylation reaction of the resulting diallylic monomer (B‐ala) with 1,1,3,3‐tetramethyldisiloxane (TMDS) in the presence of Pt catalyst yields the corresponding poly(B‐ala‐tetramethyl disiloxane)s (PBTMDS) with the molecular weights in the range of 1800–4100 Da. The structures of the precursor diallyl monomer and the resulting polymers are confirmed by FT‐IR and 1H NMR analysis. Curing behavior of both the monomer and polymers has also been studied by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Flexible free standing transparent films of the oligosiloxanes are obtained by solvent casting from dichloromethane solution on Teflon plates. The films preserve shape and, to some extent, toughness after thermal curing between 100 and 180 °C. Thermal properties of the cured polymers are also investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 804–811, 2009  相似文献

High molecular weight polyesters containing thermally curable benzoxazine units in the main chain have been synthesized. For this purpose, first the diol functional monomer is synthesized through the Mannich and subsequent ring closure reactions of bisphenol‐A, paraformaldehyde, and 5‐amino‐1‐pentanol. Polycondensation of the resulting benzoxazine and pyromellitic dianhydride or 4‐4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidene) diphatalic anhydride with or without dibutyltin laurate yielded the corresponding polyesters with the molecular weights between 5800 and 7000 Da. The structures of the precursor diol monomer and the resulting polyesters are confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy analysis. Curing behavior of both the monomer and polymers has also been studied by differential scanning calorimetry. Flexible films of the polyesters were obtained by solvent casting on tin plates and crosslinked by heating in the absence of any catalyst. The cured films exhibited high flexibility and adhesion on the tin plates as determined by ASTM and DIN tests. Thermal properties of the cured polymers were also investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 4279–4284, 2010  相似文献

A new class of polybenzoxazine precursors of combined molecular structure of benzoxazine in the open and ring form has been developed. Thermally curable benzoxazine networks were obtained by simultaneous photoinduced thiol‐ene and Catalytic Opening of the Lateral Benzoxazine Rings by Thiols (COLBERT). The thiol‐ene reactions were initiated by photolysis of a free radical photoinitiator, 2, 2‐dimethoxy‐2‐phenyl acetophenone (DMPA), and the competing COLBERT reaction was triggered by thiol compound, 1,2‐ethanedithiol, present in the reaction mixture. The extent of reactions was evaluated by conducting experiments both under UV irradiation and in dark using model benzoxazines. The precursor soft films (pre‐P(B‐ala‐DTE)) were prepared by irradiating solutions of diallyl functional benzoxazine (B‐ala), 1,2‐ethanedithiol and DMPA. The obtained pre‐P(B‐ala‐DTE) films were then cured through thermally activated ring opening reaction of remaining benzoxazine groups yielding a more rigid and tough film. Thermal and mechanical properties of the films were investigated by DSC, DMA and TGA and compared with a typical polybenzoxazine, P(B‐ala). © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. High molecular weight polyetheresters (PEE) containing thermally curable benzoxazine units in the main chain have been synthesized. For this purpose, first the diol functional monomer is synthesized through the Mannich reaction of 4,4′‐isopropylidenediphenol (bisphenol A), formaldehyde, and 2‐(2‐aminoethoxy)ethanol. Polycondensation of the resulting benzoxazine dietherdiol with adipoyl chloride and terephthaloyl dichloride in the presence of triethyl amine yields the corresponding PEE with the molecular weights of 34.000 Da. The structures of the precursor diol monomer and the resulting PEEs are confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H‐NMR) analysis. Curing behavior of both the monomer and polymers has also been studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Flexible free standing transparent films of the PEEs are obtained by solvent casting from dichloromethane solution on Teflon plates. The films preserve shape and, to some extent, toughness after thermal curing between 140 and 220 °C. Thermal properties of the cured polymers are also investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 414–420, 2008  相似文献

Novel side‐chain benzoxazine functional polyvinylchloride (PVC‐Benzoxazine) was synthesized by using “Click Chemistry” strategy. First, approximately 10% of chloro groups of PVC were converted to azido groups by using NaN3 in N,N‐dimethylformamide. Propargyl benzoxazine was prepared independently by a ring closure reaction between p‐propargyloxy aniline, paraformaldehyde, and phenol. Finally, azidofunctionalized PVC was coupled to propargyl benzoxazine with high efficiency by click chemistry. The spectral and thermal analysis confirmed the presence of benzoxazine functionality in the resulting polymer. It is shown that PVC containing benzoxazine undergoes thermally activated curing in the absence of any catalyst forming PVC thermoset with high thermal stability. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Soluble and thermally curable conducting high molecular weight polybenzoxazine precursors were prepared by oxidative polymerization 3‐phenyl‐3,4‐dihydro‐2H‐benzo[e][1,3] oxazine (P‐a) alone and in the presence of thiophene (Th) with ceric ammonium nitrate in acetonitrile. The structure of the precursors was confirmed by FTIR, 1H NMR, and DSC measurements, indicating the presence of a cyclic benzoxazine structure, together with small but varying amount of a ring opened phenolic structure. The resulting polymers exhibit conductivities around 10?2 S cm?1 and undergo thermal curing at various temperatures. Attempts to copolymerize P‐a with another electroactive monomer, pyrrole (Py), by a similar redox process were unsuccessful, which was attributed to the unfavourable oxidation potential of Py. The cured products exhibited high thermal stability but lower conductivity, than those of the precursors. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 999–1006, 2007  相似文献

A series of novel hyperbranched poly(ester‐amide)s (HBPEAs) based on neutral α‐amino acids have been synthesized via the “AD + CBB′” couple‐monomer approach. The ABB′ intermediates were stoichiometrically formed through thio‐Michael addition reaction because of reactivity differences between functional groups. Without any purification, in situ self‐polycondensations of the intermediates at elevated temperature in the presence of a catalyst afforded HBPEAs with multihydroxyl end groups. The degrees of branching (DBs) of the HBPEAs were estimated to be 0.40–0.58 and 0.24–0.54 by quantitative 13C NMR with two different calculation methods, respectively, depending on polymerization conditions and structure of monomers. The influences of catalyst, temperature, and intermediate structure on the polymerization process and molecular weights as well as properties of the resultant polymers were investigated. FTIR, NMR, and DEPT‐135 NMR analyses revealed the branched structure of the resultant polymers. The HBPEAs possess moderately high molecular weights with broad distributions, glass transition temperatures in the range of ?25.5 to 36.5 °C, and decomposition temperatures at 10% weight loss under nitrogen and air in the regions of 243.4–289.1 °C and 231.4–265.6 °C, respectively. Among them, those derived from D ,L ‐phenylalanine display the lowest degree of branching, whereas the highest glass transition temperature and the best thermal stability. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Monofunctional benzoxazine with ortho‐methylol functionality has been synthesized and highly purified. The chemical structure of the synthesized monomer has been confirmed by 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR) and elemental analysis. One‐dimensional (1D) 1H NMR is used with respect to varied concentration of benzoxazines to study the specific nature of hydrogen bonding in both ortho‐methylol functional benzoxazine and its para counterpart. The polymerization behavior of benzoxazine monomer has been also studied by in situ FT‐IR and differential scanning calorimetry, experimentally supporting the polymerization mechanism of ortho‐methylol functional benzoxazine we proposed before. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hyperbranched polymethacrylates were prepared by means of oxyanionic vinyl polymerization of commercially available monomers, including hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEG‐MA). Hyperbranched polymethacrylates with high molecular weight were obtained with the complex of potassium hydride and 18‐crown‐6 as the initiator. The effect of 18‐crown‐6 is very important, and only oligomer can be obtained in the polymerization without 18‐crown‐6. The molecular structure of the hyperbranched polymers was confirmed with 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. The ratio of initiator to monomer significantly affects the architecture of the resultant polymers. When the ratio of initiator to monomer equals 1 in the oxyanionic vinyl polymerization of HEMA, the degree of branching of the resulting polymer was calculated to be around 0.49. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two types of main‐chain type polybenzoxazines with amide and benzoxazine groups as repeating units in the main chain, termed as poly(amide‐benzoxazine), have been synthesized. They have been prepared by polycondensation reaction of primary amine‐bifunctional benzoxazine with adipoyl and isophthaloyl dichloride using dimethylacetamide as solvent. Additionally, a model reaction is designed from the reaction of 3,3′‐(4,4′‐methylenebis(4,1‐phenylene))bis(3,4‐dihydro‐2H‐benzo[e][1,3]oxazin‐6‐amine) with benzoyl chloride. The structures of model compound and polyamides are confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopies. Differential scanning calorimetry and FTIR are also used to study crosslinking behavior of both the model compound and polymers. Thermal properties of the crosslinked polymers are also studied by thermogravimetric analysis. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

A phenol/aniline type monofunctional benzoxazine monomer, PH‐a , is synthesized and highly purified to study the intrinsic thermal ring‐opening polymerization of benzoxazines without the influence of any impurity. The successful synthesis of the monomer and its corresponding chemical structure are confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy. Purity of the compound is evaluated through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) as well as elemental analysis (EA). Moreover, the thermal behavior of benzoxazine monomer toward polymerization is also studied by DSC, indicating that the highly purified benzoxazine monomer actually polymerize upon heating. The results present evidence of an intrinsic tendency for 1,3‐benzoxazines to undergo thermally induced ring‐opening polymerization upon heating only without any impurity participating during the reaction. This reveals that polybenzoxazines can be obtained by both the traditional thermally accelerated (or activated) polymerization, where impurities or purposefully added initiators are involved in the reaction; or, by the classic thermal polymerization, where only heat is enough to initiate the reaction. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effect of type and concentration of external donor and hydrogen concentration on oligomer formation and chain end distribution were studied. Bulk polymerization of propylene was carried out with two different Ziegler‐Natta catalysts at 70 °C, one a novel self‐supported catalyst (A) and the other a conventional MgCl2‐supported catalyst (B) with triethyl aluminum as cocatalyst. The external donors used were dicyclopentyl dimethoxy silane (DCP) and cyclohexylmethyl dimethoxy silane (CHM). The oligomer amount was shown to be strongly dependent on the molecular weight of the polymer. Catalyst A gave approximately 50 % lower oligomer content than catalyst B due to narrower molecular weight distribution in case of catalyst A. More n‐Bu‐terminated chain ends were found for catalyst A indicating more frequent 2,1 insertions. Catalyst A also gave more vinylidene‐terminated oligomers, suggesting that chain transfer to monomer, responsible for the vinylidene chain ends, was a more important chain termination mechanism for this catalyst, especially at low hydrogen concentration. Low site selectivity, due to low external donor concentration or use of a weak external donor (CHM), was also found to increase formation of vinylidene‐terminated oligomers. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The photoinitiated ring‐opening cationic polymerization of a monofunctional benzoxazine, 3‐phenyl‐3,4‐dihydro‐2H‐1,3‐benzoxazine, with onium salts such as diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate and triphenylsulfonium hexafluorophosphate as initiators was examined. The structures of the polymers thus formed were complex and related to the ring‐opening process of the protonated monomer either at the oxygen or nitrogen atoms. The phenolic mechanism also contributed, but its influence decreased with decreasing monomer concentration. Thermal properties of the polymers were also investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new class of high‐performance resins of combined molecular structure of both traditional phenolics and benzoxazines has been developed. The monomers termed as methylol‐functional benzoxazines were synthesized through Mannich condensation reaction of methylol‐functional phenols and aromatic amines, including methylenedianiline (4,4′‐diaminodiphenylmethane) and oxydianiline (4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether), in the presence of paraformaldehyde. For comparison, other series of benzoxazine monomers were prepared from phenol, corresponding aromatic amines, and paraformaldehyde. The as‐synthesized monomers are characterized by their high purity as judged from 1H NMR and Fourier transform infrared spectra. Differential scanning calorimetric thermograms of the novel monomers show two exothermic peaks associated with condensation reaction of methylol groups and ring‐opening polymerization of benzoxazines. The position of methylol group relative to benzoxazine structure plays a significant role in accelerating polymerization. Viscoelastic and thermogravimetric analyses of the crosslinked polymers reveal high Tg (274–343 °C) and excellent thermal stability when compared with the traditional polybenzoxazines. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polyaddition of an α‐azide‐ω‐alkyne monomer by Cu(PPh3)3Br catalyzed 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition was thoroughly studied as a model system to investigate the orthogonality of this click chemistry process. Indeed, loss of chain‐end functionality and occurrence of side reactions have a tremendous impact on the molar mass of polymers obtained by step growth polymerization. Particularly, SEC, 1H, and 31P NMR experiments have highlighted the occurrence of a Staudinger side‐reaction between azide chain‐ends and PPh3 from the copper(I) catalyst that dramatically alters Mn of the resulting polytriazoles. A significant enhancement of Mn could be achieved by using an alternative catalyst and optimized experimental conditions, that is, dilution and reaction time. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report the polymerization of rhenium‐containing methacrylates by atom transfer radical polymerization. The structure of the monomer was confirmed by X‐ray crystallography, which showed the bulkiness of the metal‐complex moiety. The rhenium complexes were polymerized in the presence of copper(I) bromide, 1,1,4,7,7‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine, and methyl 2‐bromopropionate. They were copolymerized with methyl methacrylate in different monomer ratios. An ABA triblock copolymer was also synthesized with poly(methyl methacrylate) as the macroinitiator. When 2,2′‐bipyridine was used as the ligand for the copper catalyst in the polymerizations, it underwent a ligand exchange process with the iminopyridine ligand in the monomer. The neutral rhenium complex in the homopolymers and copolymers could be converted into ionic forms by the replacement of the chloride with an imidazole ligand, and the solubility of the resulting ionic polymers was greatly enhanced. The photosensitizing properties of the doped and undoped polymer films were investigated by the measurement of the photocurrent response under an externally applied electric field. The photoconductivities of the polymers were approximately 10?12–10?13 Ω?1 cm?1. The experimental quantum efficiencies were simulated with Onsager's theory, and they showed that the initial quantum yield and thermalization distance were 10?3 and 1.7 nm, respectively. Transmission electron microscopy showed that the rhenium complexes aggregated to form domains with dimensions of approximately 20–30 nm. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The thermal properties of physical blends containing benzoxazine monomer and polycaprolactone (PCL) were monitored by DSC and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The ring‐opening reaction and subsequent polymerization reaction of the benzoxazine were facilitated significantly by the presence of a PCL modifier. Hydrogen‐bond formation between the hydroxyl groups of polybenzoxazine and the carbonyl groups of PCL was evident from the FTIR spectra. Only one glass‐transition temperture (Tg) value was found in the composition range investigated, and the Tg value of the resulting blend appeared to be higher in the blend with a greater amount of PCL. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel N‐hydroxy succinimide‐based carbonate monomer that allows direct synthesis of polymers incorporating a reactive carbonate group in the side chain was synthesized. This new monomer was copolymerized with methyl methacrylate and poly(ethylene glycol) methylether methacrylate using free‐radical polymerization to obtain organo‐ and water‐soluble reactive copolymers. Copolymerization of the activated carbonate monomer with an azide‐containing monomer and N‐hydroxy succinimide‐containing activated ester monomer provided orthogonally functionalizable copolymers. The pendant reactive carbonate groups of the copolymers were functionalized with amines to obtain carbamates. Polymers capable of orthogonal functionalization could be selectively functionalized as desired using subsequent 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition or amidation reactions. The novel monomer and the copolymers were characterized by 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, and infrared spectroscopy. The efficient stepwise orthogonal functionalization of the copolymers were examined via 1H‐NMR spectroscopy. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

Polymerization of a trimethylene carbonate (TMC) in an aqueous solution was investigated by gel permeation chromatography, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance. The polymerization reaction proceeded rapidly in the aqueous solution and high conversion was achieved in a relatively short time. 1,3‐Propanediol (PPD) formed by hydrolysis of TMC was used as the initiator. The TMC oligomer obtained by ring‐opening polymerization had a TMC unit backbone with terminal 3‐hydroxypropyl groups at both chain ends. The oligomer underwent transesterification reaction with elimination of PPD, resulting in a gradual increase in the molecular weight of the product. The molecular weight was affected by the concentration of TMC. The thermal properties of the polymers were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. Polymers within the molecular weight (Mn) range from 6.0 × 103 to 2.3 × 104 g/mol crystallized, and endothermic peaks corresponding to the melting temperature were observed. The glass transition temperature increased with the molecular weight of the polymers. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 1485–1492, 2010  相似文献
