Homo‐ and copolymerization of ethylene and norbornene were investigated with bis(β‐diketiminato) titanium complexes [ArNC(CR3)CHC(CR3)NAr]2TiCl2 (R = F, Ar = 2,6‐diisopropylphenyl 2a; R = F, Ar = 2,6‐dimethylphenyl 2b ; R = H, Ar = 2,6‐diisopropylphenyl 2c ; R = H, Ar = 2,6‐dimethylphenyl 2d) in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO). The influence of steric and electric effects of complexes on catalytic activity was evaluated. With MAO as cocatalyst, complexes 2a–d are moderately active catalysts for ethylene polymerization producing high‐molecular weight polyethylenes bearing linear structures, but low active catalysts for norbornene polymerization. Moreover, 2a – d are also active ethylene–norbornene (E–N) copolymerization catalysts. The incorporation of norbornene in the E–N copolymer could be controlled by varying the charged norbornene. 13C NMR analyses showed the microstructures of the E–N copolymers were predominantly alternated and isolated norbornene units in copolymer, dyad, and triad sequences of norbornene were detected in the E–N copolymers with high incorporated content of norbornene. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polymerization of 2‐pentene with [ArN?C(An)C(An)·NAr)NiBr2 (Ar?2,6‐iPr2C6H3)] ( 1‐Ni) /M‐MAO catalyst was investigated. A reactivity between trans‐2‐pentene and cis‐2‐pentene on the polymerization was quite different, and trans‐2‐pentene polymerized with 1‐Ni /M‐MAO catalyst to give a high molecular weight polymer. On the other hand, the polymerization of cis‐2‐butene with 1‐Ni /M‐MAO catalyst did not give any polymeric products. In the polymerization of mixture of trans‐ and cis‐2‐pentene with 1‐Ni /M‐MAO catalyst, the Mn of the polymer increased with an increase of the polymer yields. However, the relationship between polymer yield and the Mn of the polymer did not give a strict straight line, and the Mw/Mn also increased with increasing polymer yield. This suggests that side reactions were induced during the polymerization. The structures of the polymer obtained from the polymerization of 2‐ pentene with 1‐Ni /M‐MAO catalyst consists of ? CH2? CH2? CH(CH2CH3)? , ? CH2? CH2? CH2? CH(CH3)? , ? CH2? CH(CH2CH2CH3)? , and methylene sequence ? (CH2)n? (n ≥ 5) units, which is related to the chain walking mechanism. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this work, ethylene‐1‐hexene copolymers were synthesized with a tandem catalysis system that consisted of a new trimerization catalyst bis(2‐dodecylsulfanyl‐ethyl) amine‐CrCl3/MAO ( 1 /MAO) and copolymerization catalyst Et(Ind)2ZrCl2/MAO ( 2 /MAO) at atmosphere pressure. Catalyst 1 trimerized ethylene with high activity and excellent selectivity in the presence of a relatively low amount of MAO. Catalyst 2 incorporated the 1‐hexene content and produced ethylene‐1‐hexene copolymer from an ethylene‐only stock in the same reactor. Adjusting the Cr/Zr ratio and reaction temperature yielded various branching densities and thus melting temperatures. However, broad DSC curves were observed when low temperatures and/or high Cr/Zr ratios were employed due to an accumulation of 1‐hexene component and composition drifting during the copolymerization. It was found that a short pretrimerization period resulted in more homogeneous materials that gave unimodal DSC curves. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of α‐keto‐β‐diimine nickel complexes (Ar‐N = C(CH3)‐C(O)‐C(CH3)=N‐Ar)NiBr2; Ar = 2,6‐R‐C6H3‐, R = Me, Et, iPr, and Ar = 2,4,6‐Me3‐C6H3‐) was prepared. All corresponding ligands are unstable even under an inert atmosphere and in a freezer. Stable copper complex intermediates of ligand synthesis and ethyl substituted nickel complex were isolated and characterized by X‐ray. All nickel complexes were used for the polymerization of ethene, propylene, and hex‐1‐ene to investigate their livingness and the extent of chain‐walking. Low‐temperature propene polymerization with less bulky ortho‐substituents was less isospecific than the one with isopropyl derivative. Propene stereoblock copolymers were prepared by iPr derivative combining the polymerization at low temperature to prepare isotactic polypropylene (PP) block and at a higher temperature, supporting chain‐walking, to obtain amorphous regioirregular PP block. Alternatively, a copolymerization of propene with ethene was used for the preparation of amorphous block. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. A new β‐ketoimine ligand was prepared through traditional condensation of 2‐acetylcyclohexanone with 1‐naphthylamine. Consequently, the new moisture‐ and air‐stable bis(β‐ketoamino)nickel(II) complex Ni[2‐CH3C(O)C6H8(NAr)]2 (Ar = naphthyl) was synthesized and characterized. The solid‐state structures of the ligand and complex have been determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Additionally, the new complex is a highly active catalyst precursor for polymerization of norbornene in combination with methylaluminoxane. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Monocyclopentadienyl titanium imidazolin‐2‐iminato complexes [Cp′Ti(L)X2] 1a (Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl), 1b (X = CH3); 2 (Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐diisopropylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl); 3 (Cp′ = tert‐butylcyclopentadienyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide, X = Cl), upon activation with methylaluminoxane (MAO) were active for the polymerization of ethylene and propylene and the copolymerization of ethylene and 1‐hexene. Catalysts derived from imidazolin‐2‐iminato tropidinyl titanium complex 4 = [(Trop)Ti(L)Cl2] (Trop = tropidinyl, L = 1,3‐di‐tert‐butylimidazolin‐2‐imide) were much less active. Narrow polydispersities were observed for ethylene and propylene polymerization, but the copolymerization of ethylene/hexene led to bimodal molecular weight distributions. The productivity of catalysts derived from the dialkyl complex 1b activated with [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] or B(C6F5)3 were less active for ethylene/hexene copolymerization but yielded ethylene/hexene copolymers of narrower molecular weight distributions than those derived from 1a/MAO. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 1‐Hexene polymerizations catalyzed by α‐diimine nickel complexes after activation with modified methylaluminoxane were performed at various reaction temperatures. Effects of catalyst structure and polymerization temperature on activity and polymer microstructure were evaluated in detail. Bulky catalyst 1b with camphyl backbone exhibited good control ability and greatly enhanced thermal stability to be capable of polymerizing 1‐hexene at 80°C. The poly(1‐hexene)s with long methylene sequences and dominate branches (methyl and butyl) were synthesized using catalyst 1b . Differential scanning calorimetry analysis further confirmed that long polymethylene block (? (CH2)n? , n > 20) was formed in the poly(1‐hexene)s with melting point of 64°C obtained by catalyst 1b on the basis of initial branched model polyethylene. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Olefin polymerizations catalyzed by Cp′TiCl2(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3) ( 1 – 5 ; Cp′ = cyclopentadienyl group), RuCl2(ethylene)(pybox) { 7 ; pybox = 2,6‐bis[(4S)‐4‐isopropyl‐2‐oxazolin‐2‐yl]pyridine}, and FeCl2(pybox) ( 8 ) were investigated in the presence of a cocatalyst. The Cp*TiCl2(O‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3) ( 5 )–methylaluminoxane (MAO) catalyst exhibited remarkable catalytic activity for both ethylene and 1‐hexene polymerizations, and the effect of the substituents on the cyclopentadienyl group was an important factor for the catalytic activity. A high level of 1‐hexene incorporation and a lower rE · rH value with 5 than with [Me2Si(C5Me4)(NtBu)]TiCl2 ( 6 ) were obtained, despite the rather wide bond angle of Cp Ti O (120.5°) of 5 compared with the bond angle of Cp Ti N of 6 (107.6°). The 7 –MAO catalyst exhibited moderate catalytic activity for ethylene homopolymerization and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization, and the resultant copolymer incorporated 1‐hexene. The 8 –MAO catalyst also exhibited activity for ethylene polymerization, and an attempted ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization gave linear polyethylene. The efficient polymerization of a norbornene macromonomer bearing a ring‐opened poly(norbornene) substituent was accomplished by ringopening metathesis polymerization with the well‐defined Mo(CHCMe2Ph)(N‐2,6‐iPr2C6H3)[OCMe(CF3)2]2 ( 10 ). The key step for the macromonomer synthesis was the exclusive end‐capping of the ring‐opened poly(norbornene) with p‐Me3SiOC6H4CHO, and the use of 10 was effective for this polymerization proceeding with complete conversion. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Norbornene polymerizations proceeded in toluene with bis(β‐ketoamino)nickel(II) {Ni[CH3C(O)CHC(NR)CH3]2 [R = phenyl ( 1 ) or naphthyl ( 2 )]} complexes as the catalyst precursors and the organo‐Lewis compound tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane [B(C6F5)3] as a unique cocatalyst. The polymerization conditions, such as the cocatalyst/catalyst ratio (B/Ni), catalyst concentration, monomer/catalyst ratio (norbornene/Ni), polymerization temperature, and polymerization time, were studied in detail. Both bis(β‐ketoamino)nickel(II)/B(C6F5)3 catalytic systems showed noticeably high conversions and activities. The polymerization activities were up to 3.64 × 107 g of polymer/mol of Ni h for complex 1 /(B(C6F5)3 and 3.80 × 107 g of polymer/mol of Ni h for complex 2 /B(C6F5)3, and very high conversions of 90–95% were maintained; both polymerizations provided high‐molecular‐weight polynorbornenes with molecular weight distributions (weight‐average molecular weight/number‐average molecular weight) of 2.5–3.0. The achieved polynorbornenes were confirmed to be vinyl‐addition and atactic polymers through the analysis of Fourier transform infrared, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectra, and the thermogravimetric analysis results showed that the polynorbornenes exhibited good thermal stability (decomposition temperature > 410 °C). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A family of unsymmetrical 1,2‐bis(imino)acenaphthene‐palladium methyl chloride complexes [1‐[2,6‐{(C6H5)2CH}2‐ 4‐{C(CH3)3}‐C6H2N]‐2‐(ArN)C2C10H6]PdMeCl (Ar = 2,6‐Me2Ph Pd1 , 2,6‐Et2Ph Pd2 , 2,6‐iPr2Ph Pd3 , 2,4,6‐Me3Ph Pd4 , 2,6‐Et2‐4‐MePh Pd5 ) have been prepared and fully characterized by 1H/13C NMR, FTIR spectroscopies, and elemental analysis. X‐ray diffraction analysis of Pd2 complex revealed a square planar geometry. Upon activation with methylaluminoxane, all the palladium complexes displayed high activities for norbornene (NBE) homo‐polymerization producing insoluble polymer. For the copolymerization of NBE with ethylene, Pd4 complex exhibited good activities with high incorporation of ethylene (up to 59.2–77.4%) and the resultant copolymer showed high molecular weights as maximum as 150.5 kg mol−1. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerizations with disiloxane‐bridged metallocenes, rac‐ and meso‐1,1,3,3‐tetramethyldisiloxanediyl‐bis(1‐indenyl)zirconium dichloride (rac‐ 1 , meso‐ 1 ) activated by modified methylaluminoxane were performed to investigate the influence of conformational dynamics on comonomer selectivity. Although 1H NOESY (nuclear Overhauser and exchange spectroscopy) analysis indicated that the most stable conformation for the meso isomer in solution was that in which both indenes project over the metal coordination site, this isomer showed higher 1‐hexene selectivity in copolymerization (re = 140 ± 30, rh = 0.024 ± 0.004) than the rac isomer with only one indene over the coordination site (re = 240 ± 20, rh = 0.005 ± 0.001). The meso isomer showed high 1‐hexene selectivity, a high product of reactivity ratios (rerh = 3.3 ± 0.5) and produced copolymers that could be separated into fractions with different ethylene content suggesting that the active species exhibited multisite behavior and populated conformations with different comonomer selectivities during the copolymerization. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Copolymerizations of ethylene with α‐olefins (i.e., 1‐hexene, 1‐octene, allylbenzene, and 4‐phenyl‐1‐butene) using the bis(β‐enaminoketonato) titanium complexes [(Ph)NC(R2)CHC(R1)O]2TiCl2 ( 1a : R1 = CF3, R2 = CH3; 1b : R1 = Ph, R2 = CF3; and 1c : R1 = t‐Bu, R2 = CF3), activated with modified methylaluminoxane as a cocatalyst, have been investigated. The catalyst activity, comonomer incorporation, and molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution of the polymers produced can be controlled over a wide range by the variation of the catalyst structure, α‐olefin, and reaction parameters such as the comonomer feed concentration. The substituents R1 and R2 of the ligands affect considerably both the catalyst activity and comonomer incorporation. Precatalyst 1a exhibits high catalytic activity and produces high‐molecular‐weight copolymers with high α‐olefin insertion. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. [Pd2(μ‐Cl)2(C6F5)2(tht)2] ( 1 ) is a very efficient initiator of the radical polymerization of methyl acrylate, but it is not active in the polymerization of methyl methacrylate or in the copolymerization with 1‐hexene. The addition of an excess of NBu4Cl to solutions of [Pd2(μ‐Cl)2(C6F5)2(tht)2] ( 1 ) provides an initiator system that copolymerizes methyl acrylate and 1‐hexene by an insertion‐triggered radical mechanism. Random copolymers are obtained with 11% incorporation of 1‐hexene in moderate yields (about 35%). Studies of the decomposition products obtained after the first insertion of methyl acrylate in the Pd? C6F5 bond of 1 show that the addition of excess halide in the presence of monomer favors the homolytic cleavage of the Pd? C bond, and the generation of the radicals that are active species in the polymerization, versus alternative evolution pathways. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Iron(II) dichloride complexes bearing a tridentate nitrogen donor ligand were investigated for the homopolymerization of tert‐butyl acrylate after activation with methylaluminoxane. Two new complexes were synthesized, 2,6‐bis[1‐(cyclohexylimido)ethyl]pyridine iron chloride (FeCl2) and 2,6‐bis[1‐(isopropylimido)ethyl]pyridine FeCl2, and the single‐crystal X‐ray structure of the latter one was determined. Turnover frequencies of the catalysts during polymerization ranged from 36 to 241 cycles/mol/h. The obtained polymers exhibited weight‐average molecular weights ranging from 24,000 to 438,500 g/mol, and the molar mass distribution varied between 1.8 and 4.3. Activity of the catalytic system and the molar mass of the polymer are influenced by the ligand structure of the complexes as well as other polymerization conditions such as monomer concentration and temperature. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The titanium and zirconium complexes in C3 and Cs symmetric forms synthesized from corresponding aminotriols in combination with MAO polymerized 1‐hexene in a controlled manner. When the polymerization temperature was lowered, they gave high molecular weight monodisperse polyhexene with narrow polydispersities indicating quazi‐living systems. The isotactic polyhexene obtained from C3 titanium catalyst has the molecular weight of around 46,500 with PDI of 1.3 and the hemi‐isotactic polymer from Cs titanium catalyst has the molecular weight of around 617,000 with PDI of 1.3. The analogues zirconium complexes upon activation with MAO polymerize hexene to give polyhexene having molecular weight of 53,000 (C3) and 626,000 (pseudo‐Cs) with PDI ranging from 1.2 to 1.4. The MIX‐titanium catalyst prepared from the 50:50 mixture of aminotriols was also able to polymerize 1‐hexene and the GPC traces of the polyhexene suggests that even though the catalyst was formed from the mixture of aminotriols, the C3 and Cs symmetry of the catalysts retain its originality avoiding the formation of aggregates or polymeric forms. When one of the arms of aminotriol was methylated yield C2 and meso aminodiol ligands and their corresponding titanium and zirconium complexes gave higher molecular weight polyhexenes with lower PDI (C2‐Zr‐Mn: 260,000; PDI: 1.05–1.10; mesoZr‐Mn: 220,000; PDI: 1.05–1.10) possibly suggesting that these systems are close to living systems. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The polymerization of the substituted olefins 4‐methylpentene and vinylcyclohexane by dibenzyl titanium and zirconium complexes of three amine bis(phenolate) ligands is reported. The ligands featured a dimethylamino side‐arm donor and either electron‐withdrawing (Cl and Br) or methyl phenolate substituents. After activation with B(C6F5)3, the zirconium catalysts exhibited a higher activity than the titanium catalysts toward these bulky olefins. Very high weight‐average molecular weight poly(4‐methylpentene) was obtained with the zirconium catalysts. The zirconium catalysts were employed in 1‐hexene polymerization, and their activity was found to be the highest ever reported for catalysts of the amine bis(phenolate) family. The catalysts featuring methyl phenolate substituents showed a higher activity toward these substituted olefins than the electron‐poor catalysts; this trend was opposite to their activity toward 1‐hexene. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of new mono β‐diiminato titanium complexes [(N(Ar)C(CH3))2 CH]TiCl3 ( 3a : Ar = 2.6‐F2C6H3; 3b : Ar = C6F5; 3c : Ar = 2.6‐Me2C6H3) have been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of 3a revealed that the β‐diiminato ligand in our complex is more close to the η2‐coordination mode with little delocalization of the double bonds, which is different from the strong delocalization in the ligands of η5‐coordinated (Tolnacnac)TiCl3 and η2‐coordinated (Dipnacnac)ZrCl3. The significant electronic effects of fluoro‐substituents on the olefin polymerization activity of mono β‐diiminato titanium complexes were found. Titanium complexes with fluorine‐containing β‐diiminato ligands, on activation with MMAO, are extremely active catalysts for polymerization of ethylene. The activity of copolymerization of ethylene and 1‐hexene is higher than homopolymerization of ethylene and increases with the increase of 1‐hexene concentrations, which show the positive “comonomer effect.” The molar percentage of 1‐hexene incorporation and polymer microstructures can also be modulated by the initial comonomer concentrations. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel family of four 1‐bromo‐2,6‐bis{[(λ5‐phosphanylidene)imino]methyl}benzene ligands has been synthesized and characterized. The phosphiniminomethyl substituents are decorated with either three phenyl groups, two phenyl and one cyclohexyl group, one phenyl and two cyclohexyl groups, or three cyclohexyl groups. Each ligand was metallated using zero‐valent nickel through an oxidative addition to form a family of organonickel(II) complexes, namely (2,6‐bis{[(triphenyl‐λ5‐phosphanylidene)imino]methyl}phenyl‐κ3N,C1,N′)bromidonickel(II) dichloromethane hemisolvate, [NiBr(C44H37N2P2)]·0.5CH2Cl2, (2,6‐bis{[(cyclohexyldiphenyl‐λ5‐phosphanylidene)imino]methyl}phenyl‐κ3N,C1,N′)bromidonickel(II) diethyl ether hemisolvate, [NiBr(C44H49N2P2)]·0.5C4H10O, (2,6‐bis{[(dicyclohexylphenyl‐λ5‐phosphanylidene)imino]methyl}phenyl‐κ3N,C1,N′)bromidonickel(II), [NiBr(C44H61N2P2)], and (2,6‐bis{[(tricyclohexyl‐λ5‐phosphanylidene)imino]methyl}phenyl‐κ3N,C1,N′)bromidonickel(II), [NiBr(C44H73N2P2)]. This family of complexes represents a useful opportunity to investigate the impact of incrementally changing the steric characteristics of a complex on its structure and reactivity.  相似文献

The homopolymerization of methyl methacrylate was investigated with bis(salicylaldiminate)nickel(II) complexes, such as bis[3,5‐dinitro‐N(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)salicylaldiminate]nickel(II) ( IIIa ) and bis[3,5‐dinitro‐N(phenyl)salicylaldiminate]nickel(II) ( IIIb ), and with methylaluminoxane (MAO) as an activator. In particular, the effect of the Al/Ni molar ratio on the catalytic activity and on the properties of the resulting poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) was checked. The maximum activity was ascertained when an Al/Ni molar ratio equal to about 100 was used. However, the productivity of the catalytic systems was rather low. When the IIIa /MAO catalytic system was prepared under an ethylene atmosphere, an extremely high activity was observed, a productivity value of up to around 150,000 g of PMMA/(mol of Ni × h) being obtained, the highest ever found with nickel‐based catalysts. No appreciable presence of ethylene counits in the polymeric products was also ascertained. When the IIIb /MAO system was used, similar results were found, and high molecular weight PMMAs were obtained, despite the absence of bulky isopropyl substituents in positions ortho and ortho′ to the N‐aryl moiety of the salicylaldiminate ligand. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The polymers poly[(2,2‐dimethyl‐1,3‐dioxolane‐4yl) methyl acrylate] (PDMDMA) and four‐armed PDMDMA with well‐defined structures were prepared by the polymerization of (2,2‐dimethyl‐1,3‐dioxolane‐4yl) methyl acrylate (DMDMA) in the presence of an atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) initiator system. The successive hydrolyses of the polymers obtained produced the corresponding water‐soluble polymers poly(2,3‐dihydroxypropyl acrylate) (PDHPA) and four‐armed PDHPA. The controllable features for the ATRP of DMDMA were studied with kinetic measurements, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and NMR data. With the macroinitiators PDMDMA–Br and four‐armed PDMDMA–Br in combination with CuBr and 2,2′‐bipyridine, the block polymerizations of methyl acrylate (MA) with PDMDMA were carried out to afford the AB diblock copolymer PDMDMA‐b‐MA and the four‐armed block copolymer S{poly[(2,2‐dimethyl‐1,3‐dioxolane‐4yl) methyl acrylate]‐block‐poly(methyl acrylate)}4, respectively. The block copolymers were hydrolyzed in an acidic aqueous solution, and the amphiphilic diblock and four‐armed block copolymers poly(2,3‐dihydroxypropyl acrylate)‐block‐poly(methyl acrylate) were prepared successfully. The structures of these block copolymers were verified with NMR and GPC measurements. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 39: 3062–3072, 2001  相似文献
