Abstract

For a set X, an equivalence relation ρ on X, and a cross-section R of the partition X/ρ induced by ρ, consider the semigroup T(X, ρ, R) consisting of all mappings a from X to X such that a preserves both ρ (if (x, y)?∈?ρ then (xa, ya)?∈?ρ) and R (if r?∈?R then ra?∈?R). The semigroup T(X, ρ, R) is the centralizer of the idempotent transformation with kernel ρ and image R. We determine the structure of T(X, ρ, R) in terms of Green's relations, describe the regular elements of T(X, ρ, R), and determine the following classes of the semigroups T(X, ρ, R): regular, abundant, inverse, and completely regular.  相似文献

Superabundant semigroups are generalizations of completely regular semigroups written the class of abundant semigroups. It has been shown by Fountain that an abundant semigroup is superabundant if and only if it is a semilattice of completely J *-simple semigroups. Reilly and Petrich called a semigroup S cryptic if the Green's relation H is a congruence on S. In this paper, we call a superabundant semigroup S a regular crypto semigroup if H * is a congruence on S such that S/H * is a regular band. It will be proved that a superabundant semigroup S is a regular crypto semigroup if and only if S is a refined semilattice of completely J *-simple semigroups. Thus, regular crypto semigroups are generalization of the cryptic semigroups as well as abundant semigroups.  相似文献

A subsemigroup S of a semigroup Q is an order in Q if for every there exist such that , where a and d are contained in (maximal) subgroups of Q, and and are their inverses in these subgroups. A regular semigroup S is strict if it is a subdirect product of completely (0-)simple semigroups. We construct all orders and involutions in Auinger’s model of a strict regular semigroup. This is used to find necessary and sufficient conditions on an involution on an order S in a strict regular semigroup Q for extendibility to an involution on Q.  相似文献

On any regular semigroup S, the greatest idempotent pure congruence τ the greatest idempotent separating congruence μ and the least band congruence β are used to give the S-classification of regular semigroups as follows. These congruences generate a sublattice Λ of the congruence lattice C(S) of S. We consider the triples (Λ,K,T), where K and T are the restrictions of the K- and T-relations on C(S) to Λ. Such triples are characterized abstractly and form the objects of a category S whose morphisms are surjective K- and T-preserving homomorphisms subject to a mild condition. The class of regular semigroups is made into a category S whose morphisms are fairly restricted homomorphisms. The main result of the paper is the existence of a representative functor from S to S. The effect of the S-classification on Reilly semigroups and cryptogroups is discussed briefly.  相似文献

In this article we prove that if S is a faithfully projective R-algebra and H is a finite inverse semigroup acting on S as R-linear maps such that the fixed subring S H  = R, then any partial isomorphism between ideals of S which are generated by central idempotents can be obtained as restriction of an R-automorphism of S and there exists a finite subgroup of automorphisms G of S with S G  = R.  相似文献

An ordered regular semigroup S is E-special if for every x ∈ S there is a biggest x + ∈ S such that both xx + and x + x are idempotent. Every regular strong Dubreil–Jacotin semigroup is E-special, as is every ordered completely simple semigroup with biggest inverses. In an E-special ordered regular semigroup S in which the unary operation x → x + is antitone the subset P of perfect elements is a regular ideal, the biggest inverses in which form an inverse transversal of P if and only if S has a biggest idempotent. If S + is a subsemigroup and S does not have a biggest idempotent, then P contains a copy of the crown bootlace semigroup.  相似文献

Let S be a regular semigroup, and let a ∈ S . Then a variant of S with respect to a is a semigroup with underlying set S and multiplication \circ defined by x \circ y = xay . In this paper, we characterise the regularity preserving elements of regular semigroups; these are the elements a such that (S,\circ) is also regular. Hickey showed that the set of regularity preserving elements can function as a replacement for the unit group when S does not have an identity. As an application, we characterise the regularity preserving elements in certain Rees matrix semigroups. We also establish connections with work of Loganathan and Chandrasekaran, and with McAlister's work on inverse transversals in locally inverse semigroups. We also investigate the structure of arbitrary variants of regular semigroups concentrating on how the local structure of a semigroup affects the structure of its variants. May 24, 1999  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The investigation of regular F-abundant semigroups is initiated. In fact, F-abundant semigroups are generalizations of regular cryptogroups in the class of abundant semigroups. After obtaining some properties of such semigroups, the construction theorem of the class of regular F-abundant semigroups is obtained. In addition, we also prove that a regular F-abundant semigroup is embeddable into a semidirect product of a regular band by a cancellative monoid. Our result is an analogue of that of Gomes and Gould on weakly ample semigroups, and also extends an earlier result of O'Carroll on F-inverse semigroups.  相似文献

We consider semigroup S of a rank 1 valuation ? centered on a local ring R. We show that the Hilbert polynomial of R gives a bound on the growth of the valuation semigroup S. This allows us to give a very simple example of a well ordered subsemigroup of Q+, which is not a value semigroup of a local domain. We also consider the rates of growth which are possible for S. We show that quite exotic behavior can occur. In the final section, we consider the general question of characterizing rank 1 value semigroups.  相似文献

An inverse semigroup S is said to be 0-semidistributive if its lattice ?F (S) of full inverse subsemigroups is 0-semidistributive. We show that it is sufficient to study simple inverse semigroups which are not groups. Our main theorem states that such a simple inverse semigroup S is 0-semidistributive if and only if (1) S is E-unitary, (2) S is aperiodic, (3) for any a,b ∈ S/σ with ab ≠ 1, there exist nonzero integers n and m such that (ab) m  = a n or (ab) m  = b n , where σ is the minimum group congruence on S.  相似文献

We first consider an ordered regular semigroup S in which every element has a biggest inverse and determine necessary and sufficient conditions for the subset S of biggest inverses to be an inverse transversal of S. Such an inverse transversal is necessarily weakly multiplicative. We then investigate principally ordered regular semigroups S with the property that S is an inverse transversal. In such a semigroup we determine precisely when the set S of biggest pre-inverses is a subsemigroup and show that in this case S is itself an inverse transversal of a subsemigroup of S. The ordered regular semigroup of 2 × 2 boolean matrices provides an informative illustrative example. The structure of S, when S is a group, is also described.  相似文献

Abstract. Let C be a regular semigroup with an inverse transversal and let C be generated by its idempotents. Following W. D. Munn and T. E. Hall's idea, in this paper, a fundamental regular semigroup T C,C° with an inverse transversal T C,C° ° is constructed such that the following holds. For any regular semigroup S with an inverse transversal and < E(S)>=C , C°=C∩ S° , there is a homomorphism φ from S to T C,C° such that the kernel of φ is the maximum idempotent-separating congruence on S , and φ satisfies: (1) φ| C is a homomorphism from C onto < E(T C,C° )> ; (2) φ| is a homomorphism from to T C,C° ° . In particular, S is fundamental if and only if S is isomorphic to a full subsemigroup of T C,C° . Our fundamental regular semigroup T C,C° is isomorphic to a subsemigroup of the Hall semigroup of C but it is easier to handle. Its elements are partial transformations, and the operation—although not the usual composition—is defined by means of composition.  相似文献

Abstract

For a class of prime ideals P of a cancellative semigroup S it is shown that the factors S/P have a structure of a monomial semigroup over a group. Consequences for the semigroup algebras K[S] are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

We introduce a new large class of semigroups S including all locally finite, completely regular and strongly π-regular linear semigroups. For any semigroup S in the class and any S-graded ring R, the structure of the Jacobson radical of R is reduced to the radicals of subrings graded by the maximal subgroups of S. Many results on radicals follow from this reduction in a unified way. In two special cases the reduction is simplified.  相似文献

It is well known that the semigroup of all transformations on a finite set X of order n is generated by its group of units, the symmetric group, and any idempotent of rank n ? 1. Similarly, the symmetric inverse semigroup on X is generated by its group of units and any idempotent of rank n ? 1 while the analogous result is true for the semigroup of all n × n matrices over a field.

In this paper we begin a systematic study of the structure of a semigroup S generated by its group G of units and an idempotent ? . The first section consists of preliminaries while the second contains some general results which provide the setting for those which follow.

In the third section we shall investigate the situation where G is a permutation group on a set X of order n and ? is an idempotent of rank n ? 1. In particular, we shall show that any such semigroup S is regular. Furthermore we shall determine when S is an inverse or orthodox semigroup or completely regular semigroup.

The fourth section deals with a special case, that in which G is cyclic. The fifth, and last, deals with the situation where G is dihedral. In both cases, the resulting semigroup has a particularly delicate structure which is of interest in its own right. Both situations are replete with interesting combinatorial gems.

We consider the endomorphisms of a Brandt semigroup B n and the semigroup of mappings E(B n ) that they generate under pointwise composition. We describe all the elements of this semigroup, determine Green's relations, consider certain special types of mapping, which we can enumerate for each n, and give complete calculations for the size of E(B n ) for small n.  相似文献

In a regular semigroup S, an inverse subsemigroup S° of S is called an inverse transversal of S if S° contains a unique inverse x° of each element x of S. An inverse transversal S° of S is called a Q-inverse transversal of S if S° is a quasi-ideal of S.If S is a regular semigroup with set of idempotents E then E is a biordered set. T.E. Hall obtained a fundamental regular semigroup TE from the subsemigroup E which is generated by the set of idempotents of a regular semigroup. K.S.S. Nambooripad constructed a fundamental regular semigroup by a regular biordered set abstractly. In this paper, we discuss the properties of the biordered sets of regular semigroups with inverse transversals. This kind of regular biordered sets is called IT-biordered sets. We also describe the fundamental regular semigroup TE when E is an IT-biordered set. In the sequel, we give the construction of an IT-biordered set by a left regular IT-biordered set and a right regular IT-biordered set. This project has been supported by the Provincial Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, PR China  相似文献

In order to study the structure of A +(B n )—the affine near-semiring over a Brandt semigroup—this work completely characterizes the Green's classes of its semigroup reducts. In this connection, this work classifies the elements of A +(B n ) and reports the size of A +(B n ). Further, idempotents and regular elements of the semigroup reducts of A +(B n ) have also been characterized and studied some relevant semigroups in A +(B n ).  相似文献
