Stable Vector Bundles as Generators of the Chow Ring

In this paper we show that the family of stable vector bundles gives a set of generators for the Chow ring, the K-theory and the derived category of any smooth projective variety.     

Complete Sets of Relations in the Cohomology Rings of Moduli Spaces of Holomorphic Bundles and Parabolic Bundles Over a Riemann Surface

The cohomology ring of the moduli space of stable holomorphicvector bundles of rank n and degree d over a Riemann surfaceof genus g > 1 has a standard set of generators when n andd are coprime. When n = 2 the relations between these generatorsare well understood, and in particular a conjecture of Mumford,that a certain set of relations is a complete set, is knownto be true. In this article generalisations are given of Mumford'srelations to the cases when n > 2 and also when the bundlesare parabolic bundles, and these are shown to form completesets of relations. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification 14H60.     

The de Rham Bundle on a Compactification of Moduli Space of Abelian Varieties

In this paper, we show that the Chern classes c _k of the de Rham bundle defined on any good toroidal compactification of the moduli space of Abelian varieties of dimension g are zero in the rational Chow ring of , for g=4, 5 and k>0.     

A Note on the Global Generation of Primitive Line Bundles on Abelian Varieties

Moduli of Vector Bundles on Curves in Positive Characteristics

Let X be a projective curve of genus 2 over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2. The Frobenius map on X induces a rational map on the moduli scheme of rank-2 bundles. We show that up to isomorphism, there is only one (up to tensoring by an order two line bundle) semi-stable vector bundle of rank 2 (with determinant equal to a theta characteristic) whose Frobenius pull-back is not semi-stable. The indeterminacy of the Frobenius map at this point can be resolved by introducing Higgs bundles.     

The Cohomology of Line Bundles on Non-primary Hopf Manifolds

The purpose of the present paper is to give an elementary method for the computation of the cohomology groups Hq（X,Ω^p X（L））, （0 ≤q ≤ n） of an n-dimensional non-primary Hopf manifold X with arbitrary fundamental group. We use the method of Zhou to generalize the results for primary Hopf manifolds and non-primary Hopf manifold with an Abelian fundamental group.     

Vanishing of Chern Classes of the De Rham Bundles for Some Families of Moduli Spaces

Given a family of nonsingular complex projective surfaces, there is a corresponding family of Hilbert schemes of zero dimensional subschemes. We prove that the Chern classes, with values in the rational Chow groups, of the de Rham bundles for such a family of Hilbert schemes vanish. A similar result is proved for any relative moduli space of rank one sheaves with trivial integral first Chern class over any family of complex projective surfaces.

Chow group of 1-cycles on the moduli space of vector bundles of rank 2 over a curve

Let X be a non-singular complex projective curve of genus ≥3. Choose a point x ∈ X. Let M_x be the moduli space of stable bundles of rank 2 with determinant We prove that the Chow group CH^Q₁(M_x) of 1-cycles on M_x with rational coefficients is isomorphic to CH^Q₀(X). By studying the rational curves on M_x, it is not difficult to see that there exits a natural homomorphism CH₀(J)→CH₁(M_x) where J denotes the Jacobian of X. The crucial point is to show that this homomorphism induces a homomorphism CH₀(X)→CH₁(M_x), namely, to go from the infinite dimensional object CH₀(J) to the finite dimensional object CH₀(X). This is proved by relating the degeneration of Hecke curves on M_x to the second term I^*2 of Bloch's filtration on CH₀(J). Insong Choe was supported by KOSEF (R01-2003-000-11634-0).     

Poisson Structures on Moduli Spaces of Framed Vector Bundles on Surfaces

In this paper we prove that the moduli spaces of framed vector bundles over a surface X, satisfying certain conditions, admit a family of Poisson structures parametrized by the global sections of a certain line bundle on X. This generalizes to the case of framed vector bundles previous results obtained in [B2] for the moduli space of vector bundles over a Poisson surface. As a corollary of this result we prove that the moduli spaces of framed SU(r) – instantons on S⁴ = ℝ⁴ ∪ {∞} admit a natural holomorphic symplectic structure.

On the Symmetric Product of a Curve with General Moduli

We study the problem of describing the cone of the effective divisors in the second symmetric product of a curve with general moduli using a degeneration to a rational g-nodal curve.     

New Component of the Moduli Space M(2;0,3) of Stable Vector Bundles on the Double Space P 3 of Index Two

We study the moduli scheme M(2;0,n) of rank-2 stable vector bundles with Chern classes c ₁=0, c ₂=n, on the Fano threefold X – the double space P ³ of index two. New component of this scheme is produced via the Serre construction using certain families of curves on X. In particular, we show that the Abel–Jacobi map :HJ(X) of any irreducible component H of the Hilbert scheme of X containing smooth elliptic quintics on X into the intermediate Jacobian J(X) of X factors by Stein through the quasi-finite (probably birational) map g:M of (an open part of) a component M of the scheme M(2;0,3) to a translate of the theta-divisor of J(X).     

On the Motive of Moduli Spaces of Rank Two Vector Bundles over a Curve

We study the motive of the moduli spaces of rank two vector bundles on a curve. In the smooth case we obtain the Hodge numbers, intermediate Jacobians and number of points over a finite field as corollaries. In the singular case our computations yield the Poincaré–Hodge polynomial of Seshadri's smooth model.     

Globalization of Holomorphic Actions on Principal Bundles

Suppose G is a Lie group acting as a group of holomorphic automorphisms on a holomorphic principal bundle P → X. We show that if there is a holomorphic action of the complexification G^C of G on. X, this lifts to a holomorphic action of G^C on the bundle P → X. Two applications are presented. We prove that given any connected homogeneous complex manifold G/H with more than one end, the complexification G^C of G acts holomorphically and transitively on G/H. We also show that the ends of a homogeneous complex manifold G/H with more than two ends essentially come from a space of the form S/Γ, where Γ is a Zariski dense discrete subgroup of a semisimple complex Lie group S with S and Γ being explicitly constructed in terms of G and H.     

Character Tables of Parabolic Subgroups of the Chevalley Groups of Type G 2

The main aim of this paper is to construct the character tables of the parabolic subgroups of the Chevalley groups G ₂(q), where q is a power of a prime p > 3.     

On the Degeneracy Locus of a Map of Vector Bundles on Grassamannian Varieties

Let ℒ︁ be a line bundle on a smooth curve C of genus g ≥ 2 and let W ⊂ H⁰ (ℒ︁) be a subspace of dimension r +1, in this paper we study the natural map μ_W : W ⊗ H⁰ (ω_C) → H⁰ (ℒ︁ ⊗ ω_C). Let D ⊂ G(r + 1, H⁰(ℒ︁)) be the locus where μ_W fails to be surjective: we prove that, if C is not hyperelliptic of genus g ≥ 3, D is an irreducible and reduced divisor on G(r + 1, H⁰(ℒ︁)) for any r ≥ 3, and for r = 2 if the curve C is not trigonal.
