We consider the Zassenhaus conjecture for the normalized unit group of the integral group ring of the Mathieu sporadic groupM 12. As a consequence, we confirm for this group the Kimmerle’s conjecture on prime graphs. The research was supported by OTKA grants No. T 43034, No.K61007 and Francqui Stichting (Belgium) grant ADSI107.  相似文献

In this article, we verify Dade's projective invariant conjecture for the symplectic group Sp4(2 n ) and the special unitary group SU4(22n ) in the defining characteristic, that is, in characteristic 2. Furthermore, we show that the Isaacs–Malle–Navarro version of the McKay conjecture holds for Sp4(2 n ) and SU4(22n ) in the defining characteristic, that is, Sp4(2 n ) and SU4(22n ) are good for the prime 2 in the sense of Isaacs, Malle, and Navarro.  相似文献

The C0 coarse structure on a metric space is a refinement of the bounded structure and is closely related to the topology of the space. In this paper we will prove the C0 version of the coarse Baum–Connes conjecture and show that K*(C*X0) is a topological invariant for a broad class of metric spaces. Using this result we construct a ‘geometric’ obstruction group to the coarse Baum–Connes conjecture for the bounded coarse structure. We then show under the assumption of finite asymptotic dimension that the obstructions vanish, and hence we obtain a new proof of the coarse Baum–Connes conjecture in this context.  相似文献

First we prove that in characteristicp>0 a module with good filtration for a group of type E6 restricts to a module with good filtration for a group of type F4. Thus we confirm a conjecture of Brundan for one more case. Our method relies on the canonical Frobenius splittings of Mathieu. Next we settle the remaining cases, with a computer-aided variation on the old method of Donkin.  相似文献

A multigraph M with maximum degree Δ(M) is called critical, if the chromatic index χ′(M) > Δ(M) and χ′(Me) = χ′(M) − 1 for each edge e of M. The weak critical graph conjecture [1, 7] claims that there exists a constant c > 0 such that every critical multigraph M with at most c · Δ(M) vertices has odd order. We disprove this conjecture by constructing critical multigraphs of order 20 with maximum degree k for all k ≥ 5. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Graph Theory 33: 240–245, 2000  相似文献

It was conjectured by H. Zassenhaus that a torsion unit of an integral group ring ?G of a finite group G conjugates to a group element within the rational group algebra ?G. We investigate the Zassenhaus Conjecture (ZC) and a conjecture by W. Kimmerle about prime graph in the normalized unit group of ?A6.  相似文献

We construct a rank five residually connected and firm geometry on which the Mathieu group M 12 acts flag-transitively and residually weakly primitively (RWPRI). The group M 12 is the group of automorphisms of and Aut(M 12) is the correlation group of , in particular is self-dual. The diagram of is the following. Moreover satisfies the conditions (IP)2 and (2T)1. As a corollary, we obtain that the (RWPRI+(IP)2)-rank of M 12 is 5.  相似文献

Let M be a closed orientable surface and let ϕ be a C1‐flow on M with set of singularities compact countable. In this paper, we prove the Morse conjecture for ϕ: if ϕ is topologically transitive then it is metrically transitive.  相似文献

In this work, we give a sufficient condition to resolve Costa's first conjecture for each positive integer n and d with n ≥ 4. Precisely, we show that if there exists a local ring (A, M) such that λ A (M) = n, and if there exists an (n + 2)-presented A-submodule of M m , where m is a positive integer (for instance, if M contains a regular element), then we may construct an example of (n + 4, d)-ring which is neither an (n + 3, d)-ring nor an (n + 4, d ? 1)-ring. Finally, we construct a local ring (B, M) such that λ B (M) = 0 (resp., λ B (M) = 1) and so we exhibit for each positive integer d, an example of a (4, d)-ring (resp., (5, d)-ring) which is neither a (4, d ? 1)-ring (resp., neither a (5, d ? 1)-ring) nor a (2, d′)-ring (resp., nor a (3, d′)-ring) for each positive integer d′.  相似文献

Ash's functions N σ ,k count the number of k ‐equivalence classes of σ ‐structures of size n . Some conditions on their asymptotic behavior imply the long standing spectrum conjecture. We present a new condition which is equivalent to this conjecture and we discriminate some easy and difficult particular cases. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We investigate the simple modules for the sporadic simple Mathieu groups M22, M23 and M24 as well as those of the automorphism group, the covering groups and the bicyclic extensions of M22 in characteristics 2 and 3. We determine the vertices and sources as well as the Green correspondents of these simple modules. We also find two 3-blocks with elementary abelian defect groups of order 9 in these groups which are Morita equivalent to their Brauer correspondents.  相似文献

Let G be a group, R an integral domain, and V G the R-subspace of the group algebra R[G] consisting of all the elements of R[G] whose coefficient of the identity element 1 G of G is equal to zero. Motivated by the Mathieu conjecture [Mathieu O., Some conjectures about invariant theory and their applications, In: Algèbre non Commutative, Groupes Quantiques et Invariants, Reims, June 26–30, 1995, Sémin. Congr., 2, Société Mathématique de France, Paris, 1997, 263–279], the Duistermaat-van der Kallen theorem [Duistermaat J.J., van der Kallen W., Constant terms in powers of a Laurent polynomial, Indag. Math., 1998, 9(2), 221–231], and also by recent studies on the notion of Mathieu subspaces, we show that for finite groups G, V G also forms a Mathieu subspace of the group algebra R[G] when certain conditions on the base ring R are met. We also show that for the free abelian groups G = ℤ n , n ≥ 1, and any integral domain R of positive characteristic, V G fails to be a Mathieu subspace of R[G], which is equivalent to saying that the Duistermaat-van der Kallen theorem cannot be generalized to any field or integral domain of positive characteristic.  相似文献

We study the Gross conjecture for the cyclotomic function field extension k(∧f)/k where k = Fq(t) is the rational function field and f is a monic polynomial in Fq[t]. We prove the conjecture in the Fermat curve case(i.e., when f = t(t - 1)) by a direct calculation. We also prove the case when f is irreducible, which is analogous to the Weil reciprocity law. In the general case, we manage to show the weak version of the Gross conjecture here.  相似文献

An induced subgraph S of a graph G is called a derived subgraph of G if S contains no isolated vertices. An edge e of G is said to be residual if e occurs in more than half of the derived subgraphs of G. We introduce the conjecture: Every non-empty graph contains a non-residual edge. This conjecture is implied by, but weaker than, the union-closed sets conjecture. We prove that a graph G of order n satisfies this conjecture whenever G satisfies any one of the conditions: δ(G) ≤ 2, log2 n ≤ δ(G), n ≤ 10, or the girth of G is at least 6. Finally, we show that the union-closed sets conjecture, in its full generality, is equivalent to a similar conjecture about hypergraphs. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. We show that, for a rationally inessential orientable closed n-manifold M whose fundamental group is a duality group, the macroscopic dimension of its universal cover [(M)\tilde]\tilde M is strictly less than n: dim MC [(M)\tilde] < n\tilde M < n. As a corollary, we obtain the following partial result towards Gromov’s conjecture  相似文献
