It is shown that the global dimension of any n-ary down-up algebra A n  = A(n,α, β,γ) is less than or equal to n + 2, and when γ i  = 0 for all i (A n is graded by total degree in the generators), then the global dimension of A n is n + 2. Furthermore, a sufficient condition for A n to be prime is given; when γ i  = 0 for all i this condition is also necessary. An example is given to show that the condition is not always necessary.  相似文献

Abstract

Let R be a prime ring and 𝒰(R) its group of units. We prove that if 𝒰(R) satisfies a group identity and 𝒰(R) generates R,then either R is a domain or R is isomorphic to the algebra of n × n matrices over a finite field of order d. Moreover the integers n and d depend only on the group identity satisfed by 𝒰(R). This result has been recently proved by C. H. Liu and T. K. Lee (Liu,C. H.; Lee,T. K. For a given conformal algebra C, we write the correspondence between identities of the coefficient algebra Coeff C and identities of C itself as a pseudoalgebra. In particular, we write the defining relations of Jordan, alternative, and Mal'cev conformal algebras, and show that the analogue of the Artin's Theorem does not hold for alternative conformal algebras.  相似文献

We consider polynomial identities of group algebras over a field F of characteristic zero. We prove that any PI group algebra satisfies the same identities as a matrix algebra M n (F ), where n is the maximal degree of finite dimensional representations of the group over algebraic extensions of F.  相似文献

This article studies the homological properties of generalized group algebra L 1(G, A) of a locally compact group G over a Banach algebra A with an identity of norm 1. It is shown that if L 1(G, A) is right continuous then G is finite and A is right continuous. It is also shown that L 1(G, A) is right self-injective if and only if G is finite and A is right self-injective.  相似文献

We extend the notion of a purely infinite simple C *-algebra to the context of unital rings, and we study its basic properties, specially those related to K-theory. For instance, if R is a purely infinite simple ring, then K 0(R)+ = K 0(R), the monoid of isomorphism classes of finitely generated projective R-modules is isomorphic to the monoid obtained from K 0(R) by adjoining a new zero element, and K 1(R) is the Abelianization of the group of units of R. We develop techniques of construction, obtaining new examples in this class in the case of von Neumann regular rings, and we compute the Grothendieck groups of these examples. In particular, we prove that every countable Abelian group is isomorphic to K 0 of some purely infinite simple regular ring. Finally, some known examples are analyzed within this framework.  相似文献

We generalize the usual relationship between irreducible Zariski closed subsets of the affine space, their defining ideals, coordinate rings, and function fields, to a non-commutative setting, where “varieties” carry a PGLn-action, regular and rational “functions” on them are matrix-valued, “coordinate rings” are prime polynomial identity algebras, and “function fields” are central simple algebras of degree n. In particular, a prime polynomial identity algebra of degree n is finitely generated if and only if it arises as the “coordinate ring” of a “variety” in this setting. For n=1 our definitions and results reduce to those of classical affine algebraic geometry.  相似文献

A nonassociative quaternion algebra over a field F is a 4-dimensional F-algebra A whose nucleus is a separable quadratic extension field of F. We define the notion of a valuation ring for A, and we also define a value function on A with values from a totally ordered group. We determine the structure of the set on which the function assumes non-negative values and we prove that, given a valuation ring of A, there is a value function associated to it if and only if the valuation ring is integral and invariant under proper F-automorphisms of A.  相似文献

Let be an algebraic algebra over an infinite field K and let ( ) be its group of units. We prove a stronger version of Hartley's conjecture for , namely, if a Laurent polynomial identity (LPI, for short) f = 0 is satisfied in ( ), then satisfies a polynomial identity (PI). We also show that if is non-commutative, then is a PI-ring, provided f = 0 is satisfied by the non-central units of . In particular, is locally finite and, thus, the Kurosh problem has a positive answer for K-algebras whose unit group is LPI. Moreover, f = 0 holds in ( ) if and only if the same identity is satisfied in . The last fact remains true for generalized Laurent polynomial identities, provided that is locally finite.  相似文献

It is well known that given an associative algebra or a Lie algebra A, its codimension sequence c n (A) is either polynomially bounded or grows at least as fast as 2 n . Math. 37 ( 3 ): 360377 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]] we proved that for a finite dimensional (in general nonassociative) algebra A, dim A = d, the sequence c n (A) is also polynomially bounded or c n (A) ≥ a n asymptotically, for some real number a > 1 which might be less than 2. Nevertheless, for d = 2, we may take a = 2. Here we prove that for d = 3 the same conclusion holds. We also construct a five-dimensional algebra A with c n (A) < 2 n .  相似文献
