For a quandle X, the quandle space BX is defined, modifying the rack space of Fenn, Rourke and Sanderson (1995) [13], and the quandle homotopy invariant of links is defined in Z[π2(BX)], modifying the rack homotopy invariant of Fenn, Rourke and Sanderson (1995) [13]. It is known that the cocycle invariants introduced in Carter et al. (2005) [3], Carter et al. (2003) [5], Carter et al. (2001) [6] can be derived from the quandle homotopy invariant. In this paper, we show that, for a finite quandle X, π2(BX) is finitely generated, and that, for a connected finite quandle X, π2(BX) is finite. It follows that the space spanned by cocycle invariants for a finite quandle is finitely generated. Further, we calculate π2(BX) for some concrete quandles. From the calculation, all cocycle invariants for those quandles are concretely presented. Moreover, we show formulas of the quandle homotopy invariant for connected sum of knots and for the mirror image of links.  相似文献

A quandle is a set with a binary operation satisfying certain conditions related to Reidemeister moves in knot theory. First we give an example of a quandle with subsets which are not subquandles but closed under the quandle operation. We introduce a method to produce a quandle from an invertible dynamical system. Our example is generalized to such dynamical quandles.  相似文献

We define a new class of racks, called finitely stable racks, which, to some extent, share various flavors with Abelian groups. Characterization of finitely stable Alexander quandles is established. Further, we study twisted rack dynamical systems, construct their cross-products, and introduce representation theory of racks and quandles. We prove several results on the strong representations of finite connected involutive racks analogous to the properties of finite Abelian groups. Finally, we define the Pontryagin dual of a rack as an Abelian group which, in the finite involutive connected case, coincides with the set of its strong irreducible representations.  相似文献

We calculate some quandle cohomology groups; the rational cohomology groups of any finite Alexander quandles, the second cohomology groups with a finite field coefficient of any finite Alexander quandles over a finite fields, and the third cohomology groups of the finite Alexander quandles of the form .  相似文献

The decomposition theorem for torsion abelian groups holds analogously for torsion commutative diassociative loops. With this theorem in mind, we investigate commutative diassociative loops satisfying the additional condition (trivially satisfied in the abelian group case) that all nth powers are central, for a fixed n. For n = 2, we get precisely commutative C loops. For n = 3, a prominent variety is that of commutative Moufang loops.

Many analogies between commutative C and Moufang loops have been noted in the literature, often obtained by interchanging the role of the primes 2 and 3. We show that the correct encompassing variety for these two classes of loops is the variety of commutative RIF loops. In particular, when Q is a commutative RIF loop: all squares in Q are Moufang elements, all cubes are C elements, Moufang elements of Q form a normal subloop M 0(Q) such that Q/M 0(Q) is a C loop of exponent 2 (a Steiner loop), C elements of L form a normal subloop C 0(Q) such that Q/C 0(Q) is a Moufang loop of exponent 3. Since squares (resp., cubes) are central in commutative C (resp., Moufang) loops, it follows that Q modulo its center is of exponent 6. Returning to the decomposition theorem, we find that every torsion, commutative RIF loop is a direct product of a C 2-loop, a Moufang 3-loop, and an abelian group with each element of order prime to 6.

We also discuss the definition of Moufang elements and the quasigroups associated with commutative RIF loops.  相似文献

The natural linear orderings of an n-dimensional cube over a finite set A are investigated. We obtain a characterization theorem for these orderings extending earlier result, e.g., for natural orderings on finite Boolean lattices, as given in [5.], 193–197.  相似文献

Biquandles are algebraic objects with two binary operations whose axioms encode the generalized Reidemeister moves for virtual knots and links. These objects also provide set theoretic solutions of the well-known Yang-Baxter equation. The first half of this paper proposes some natural constructions of biquandles from groups and from their simpler counterparts, namely, quandles. We completely determine all words in the free group on two generators that give rise to (bi)quandle structures on all groups. We give some novel constructions of biquandles on unions and products of quandles, including what we refer as the holomorph biquandle of a quandle. These constructions give a wealth of solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. We also show that for nice quandle coverings a biquandle structure on the base can be lifted to a biquandle structure on the covering. In the second half of the paper, we determine automorphism groups of these biquandles in terms of associated quandles showing elegant relationships between the symmetries of the underlying structures.  相似文献

We introduce a new homology theory of quandles, called simplicial quandle homology, which is quite different from quandle homology developed by Carter et al. We construct a homomorphism from a quandle homology group to a simplicial quandle homology group. As an application, we obtain a method for computing the complex volume of a hyperbolic link only from its diagram.  相似文献

Given a finite quandle, we introduce a quandle homotopy invariant of knotted surfaces in the 4-sphere, modifying that of classical links. This invariant is valued in the third homotopy group of the quandle space, and is universal among the (generalized) quandle cocycle invariants. We compute the second and third homotopy groups, with respect to “regular Alexander quandles”. As a corollary, any quandle cocycle invariant using the dihedral quandle of prime order is a scalar multiple of Mochizuki 3-cocycle invariant. As another result, we determine the third quandle homology group of the dihedral quandle of odd order.  相似文献

We study a class of modules which can be characterized using a duality theorem, called finitistic n-self-cotilting. Such a module Q can be characterized using dual conditions of some generalizations for star modules: every module M which has a right resolution with n terms isomorphic to finite powers of Q (i.e., M is n-finitely Q-copresented) has a right resolution with (n + 1) terms, and the functor Hom R (?, Q) preserves the exactness of all monomorphisms with their ranges finite powers of Q and cokernels n-finitely Q-copresented modules. In the general case, these modules are independent toward other kinds of modules which are characterized using some dualities (w f -quasi injective modules, costar modules, f-cotilting modules). Closure properties for the classes involved in the duality are studied. At the end of the article, connections with the cotilting theory are exhibited, in the case of finitely dimensional algebras over fields.  相似文献

We continue the study of the quandle of homomorphisms into a medial quandle begun in [1]. We show that it suffices to consider only medial source quandles, and therefore the structure theorem of [10] provides a characterization of the Hom quandle. In the particular case when the target is 2-reductive this characterization takes on a simple form that makes it easy to count and determine the structure of the Hom quandle.  相似文献

Let R be a semiprime ring with symmetric Martindale quotient ring Q, n ≥ 2 and let f(X) = X n h(X), where h(X) is a polynomial over the ring of integers with h(0) = ±1. Then there is a ring decomposition Q = Q 1Q 2Q 3 such that Q 1 is a ring satisfying S 2n?2, the standard identity of degree 2n ? 2, Q 2 ? M n (E) for some commutative regular self-injective ring E such that, for some fixed q > 1, x q  = x for all x ∈ E, and Q 3 is a both faithful S 2n?2-free and faithful f-free ring. Applying the theorem, we characterize m-power commuting maps, which are defined by linear generalized differential polynomials, on a semiprime ring.  相似文献

This article studies the notions of star and semistar operations over a polynomial ring. It aims at characterizing when every upper to zero in R[X] is a *-maximal ideal and when a *-maximal ideal Q of R[X] is extended from R, that is, Q = (Q ∩ R)[X] with Q ∩ R ≠0, for a given star operation of finite character * on R[X]. We also answer negatively some questions raised by Anderson–Clarke by constructing a Prüfer domain R for which the v-operation is not stable.  相似文献

Let A be a finite dimensional k-algebra over an algebraically closed field. Assume A = kQ/I where Q is a quiver without oriented cycles. We say that A is tilt-critical if it is not tilted but every proper convex subcategory of A is tilted. We describe the tilt-critical algebras which are strongly simply connected and tame.  相似文献

Let R be the quotient of a commutative ring Q by a Q-regular element f. A finite R-module M is said to lift to Q provided there exists a finite Q-module M? such that f is M?-regular and M?/f M? ? M. We describe a class of cyclic modules which are derived from complete intersections in various ways and which lift to Q in the case where Q is a local ring.  相似文献

LetQnbe the random number of comparisons made by quicksort in sortingndistinct keys when we assume that alln! possible orderings are equally likely. Known results concerning moments forQndo not show how rare it is forQnto make large deviations from its mean. Here we give a good approximation to the probability of such a large deviation and find that this probability is quite small. As well as the basic quicksort, we consider the variant in which the partitioning key is chosen as the median of (2t+1) keys.  相似文献

The 2-twist spun trefoil is an example of a sphere that is knotted in 4-dimensional space. A proof is given in this paper that this sphere is distinct from the same sphere with its orientation reversed. Our proof is based on a state-sum invariant for knotted surfaces developed via a cohomology theory of racks and quandles (also known as distributive groupoids).

A quandle is a set with a binary operation -- the axioms of which model the Reidemeister moves in classical knot theory. Colorings of diagrams of knotted curves and surfaces by quandle elements, together with cocycles of quandles, are used to define state-sum invariants for knotted circles in -space and knotted surfaces in -space.

Cohomology groups of various quandles are computed herein and applied to the study of the state-sum invariants. Non-triviality of the invariants is proved for a variety of knots and links, and conversely, knot invariants are used to prove non-triviality of cohomology for a variety of quandles.

Let (V, Q) be a quadratic vector space over a fixed field. Orthogonal group 𝒪(V, Q) is defined as automorphisms on (V, Q). If Q = I, it is 𝒪(V, I) = 𝒪(n). There is a nice result that 𝒪(n) ? Aut(𝔬(n)) over ? or ?, where 𝔬(n) is the Lie algebra of n × n alternating matrices over the field. How about another field The answer is “Yes” if it is GF(2). We show it explicitly with the combinatorial basis ?. This is a verification of Steinberg's main result in 1961, that is, Aut(𝔬(n)) is simple over the square field, with a nonsimple exception Aut(𝔬(5)) ? 𝒪(5) ? 𝔖6.  相似文献

Abstract

We define the lower socle of a semiprime algebra 𝒜 as the sum of all minimal left ideals 𝒜e where e is a minimal idempotent such that the division algebra e𝒜e is finite dimensional. We study the connection between the condition that the elements a k , b k , 1 ≤ k ≤ n, lie in the lower socle of 𝒜 and the condition that the elementary operator x ? a 1 xb 1 + ? + a n xb n has finite rank. As an application we obtain some results on derivations certain of whose powers have finite rank.  相似文献
