Recall that a Banach space X is said to have the Schur property if any weakly compact set in X is strongly compact. In this note we consider a Banach algebra A that has a bounded group of generators. Along with other results, it is proved that if has the Schur property, then the Gelfand space of the algebra A is a scattered set and, moreover, has the Radon--Nikodym property.  相似文献

We study the relation between the cohomology of general linear and symmetric groups and their respective quantizations, using Schur algebras and standard homological techniques to build appropriate spectral sequences. As our methods fit inside a much more general context within the theory of finite-dimensional algebras, we develop our results first in that general setting, and then specialize to the above situations. From this we obtain new proofs of several known results in modular representation theory of symmetric groups. Moreover, we reduce certain questions about computing extensions for symmetric groups and Hecke algebras to questions about extensions for general linear groups and their quantizations.  相似文献

We give the complete classification of Schur rings over cyclic groups of square-free order. In this classification we use the topological language originally suggested by Ya. Yu. Golfand. Each Schur ring over Zn is uniquely determined by a finite topology L on the set of prime divisors of n and by a family {G P }P L of finite groups satisfying an additional condition.  相似文献

We give a presentation of the Schur algebras S Q (2,d) by generators and relations, in fact a presentation which is compatible with Serre's presentation of the universal enveloping algebra of a simple Lie algebra. In the process we find a new basis for S Q (2,d), a truncated form of the usual PBW basis. We also locate the integral Schur algebra within the presented algebra as the analogue of Kostant's Z-form, and show that it has an integral basis which is a truncated version of Kostant's basis.  相似文献

By studying certain centralizer subalgebras of the affine Schur algebra we show that is Noetherian and we determine its center. Assuming n ≥ r, we show that is Morita equivalent to , and the Schur functor is an equivalence under certain conditions. In 1993, Muzychuk [23 Muzychuk , Mikhail E. ( 1993 ). The structure of rational Schur rings over cyclic groups . European Journal of Combinatorics 14 : 479490 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]] showed that the rational Schur rings over a cyclic group Z n are in one-to-one correspondence with sublattices of the divisor lattice of n, or equivalently, with sublattices of the lattice of subgroups of Z n . This can easily be extended to show that for any finite group G, sublattices of the lattice of characteristic subgroups of G give rise to rational Schur rings over G in a natural way. Our main result is that any finite group may be represented as the (algebraic) automorphism group of such a rational Schur ring over an abelian p-group, for any odd prime p. In contrast, over a cyclic group the automorphism group of any Schur ring is abelian. We also prove a converse to the well-known result of Muzychuk [24 Muzychuk , Mikhail E. ( 1994 ). On the structure of basic sets of Schur rings over cyclic groups . We describe Noetherian semigroup algebras K[S] of submonoids S of polycyclic-by-finite groups over a field K. As an application, we show that these algebras are finitely presented and also that they are Jacobson rings. Next we show that every prime ideal P of K[S] is strongly related to a prime ideal of the group algebra of a subgroup of the quotient group of S via a generalised matrix ring structure on K[S]/P. Applications to the classical Krull dimension, prime spectrum, and irreducible K[S]-modules are given.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A ring R is called generalized Abelian if for each idempotent e in R, eR and (1 ? e)R have no isomorphic nonzero summands. The class of generalized Abelian rings properly contains the class of Abelian rings. We denote by GAERS ? 1 the class of generalized Abelian exchange rings with stable range 1. In this article we prove, by introducing Boolean algebras, that for any R ∈ GAERS ? 1, the Grothendieck group K 0(R) is always an Archimedean lattice-ordered group, and hence is torsion free and unperforated, which generalizes the corresponding results of Abelian exchange rings. Our main technical tool is the use of the ordered structure of K 0(R)+, which provides a new method in the study of Grothendieck groups.  相似文献
