Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K. A Bhargava ring over D is defined to be 𝔹 x (D): = {f ∈ K[X] | ? a ∈ D, f(xX + a) ∈ D[X]}, where x ∈ D. A Bhargava ring over D is a subring of the ring of integer-valued polynomials over D. In this article, we study the prime ideal structure and calculate the Krull and valuative dimension of Bhargava rings over a general domain D.  相似文献

Given an integral domain D with quotient field K, the ring of integer-valued polynomials on D is the subring {f(X) ∈ K[X]: f(D) ? D} of the polynomial ring K[X]. Using the tools of t-closure and associated primes, we generalize some known results on integer-valued polynomial rings over Krull domains, Prüfer v-multiplication domains, and Mori domains.  相似文献

A one-dimensional, Noetherian, local domain D with maximal ideal 𝔪 and finite residue field was known to be an almost strong Skolem ring if analytically irreducible. It was unknown whether this condition is necessary. We show that it is at least necessary for D to be unibranched. After introducing a general notion of equalizing ideal, we show that, for k large enough, the ideals of the form 𝔐 k, a  = {f ∈ Int(D) | f(a) ∈ 𝔪 k }, for a ∈ D, are distinct. This allows to show that the maximal ideals 𝔐 a  = {f ∈ Int(D) | f(a) ∈ 𝔪}, although not necessarily distinct, are never finitely generated.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain such that Int(D) ≠ K[X] where K is the quotient field of D. There is no known example of such a D so that Int(D) has finite elasticity. If E is a finite nonempty subset of D, then it is known that Int(E, D) = {f(X) ∈ K[X] | f(e) ∈ D for all eE} is not atomic. In this note, we restrict the notion of elasticity so that it is applicable to nonatomic domains. For each real number r ≥ 1, we produce a ring of integer-valued polynomials with restricted elasticity r. We further show that if D is a unique factorization domain and E is finite with |E| > 1, then the restricted elasticity of Int(E, D) is infinite.  相似文献

A subring A of a Prüfer domain B is a globalized pseudo-valuation domain (GPVD) if (i) A?B is a unibranched extension and (ii) there exists a nonzero radical ideal I, common to A and B such that each prime ideal of A (resp., B) containing I is maximal in A (resp., B). Let D be an integral domain, X be an indeterminate over D, c(f) be the ideal of D generated by the coefficients of a polynomial f ∈ D[X], N = {f ∈ D[X] | c(f) = D}, and N v  = {f ∈ D[X] | c(f)?1 = D}. In this article, we study when the Nagata ring D[X] N (more generally, D[X] N v ) is a GPVD. To do this, we first use the so-called t-operation to introduce the notion of t-globalized pseudo-valuation domains (t-GPVDs). We then prove that D[X] N v is a GPVD if and only if D is a t-GPVD and D[X] N v has Prüfer integral closure, if and only if D[X] is a t-GPVD, if and only if each overring of D[X] N v is a GPVD. As a corollary, we have that D[X] N is a GPVD if and only if D is a GPVD and D has Prüfer integral closure. We also give several examples of integral domains D such that D[X] N v is a GPVD.  相似文献

Abstract

Let D be an integral domain. A multiplicative set S of D is an almost splitting set if for each 0 ≠ d ∈ D, there exists an n = n(d) with d n  = st where s ∈ S and t is v-coprime to each element of S. An integral domain D is an almost GCD (AGCD) domain if for every x, y ∈ D, there exists a positive integer n = n(x, y) such that x n D ∩ y n D is a principal ideal. We prove that the polynomial ring D[X] is an AGCD domain if and only if D is an AGCD domain and D[X] ? D′[X] is a root extension, where D′ is the integral closure of D. We also show that D + XD S [X] is an AGCD domain if and only if D and D S [X] are AGCD domains and S is an almost splitting set.  相似文献

Abstract

In 1956, Ehrenfeucht proved that a polynomial f 1(x 1) + · + f n (x n ) with complex coefficients in the variables x 1, …, x n is irreducible over the field of complex numbers provided the degrees of the polynomials f 1(x 1), …, f n (x n ) have greatest common divisor one. In 1964, Tverberg extended this result by showing that when n ≥ 3, then f 1(x 1) + · + f n (x n ) belonging to K[x 1, …, x n ] is irreducible over any field K of characteristic zero provided the degree of each f i is positive. Clearly a polynomial F = f 1(x 1) + · + f n (x n ) is reducible over a field K of characteristic p ≠ 0 if F can be written as F = (g 1(x 1)) p  + (g 2(x 2)) p  + · + (g n (x n )) p  + c[g 1(x 1) + g 2(x 2) + · + g n (x n )] where c is in K and each g i (x i ) is in K[x i ]. In 1966, Tverberg proved that the converse of the above simple fact holds in the particular case when n = 3 and K is an algebraically closed field of characteristic p > 0. In this article, we prove an extension of Tverberg's result by showing that this converse holds for any n ≥ 3.  相似文献

We consider an inverse boundary value problem for the heat equation ? t u = div (γ? x u) in (0, T) × Ω, u = f on (0, T) × ?Ω, u| t=0 = u 0, in a bounded domain Ω ? ? n , n ≥ 2, where the heat conductivity γ(t, x) is piecewise constant and the surface of discontinuity depends on time: γ(t, x) = k 2 (x ∈ D(t)), γ(t, x) = 1 (x ∈ Ω?D(t)). Fix a direction e* ∈ 𝕊 n?1 arbitrarily. Assuming that ?D(t) is strictly convex for 0 ≤ t ≤ T, we show that k and sup {ex; x ∈ D(t)} (0 ≤ t ≤ T), in particular D(t) itself, are determined from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map : f → ?ν u(t, x)|(0, T)×?Ω. The knowledge of the initial data u 0 is not used in the proof. If we know min0≤tT (sup xD(t) x·e*), we have the same conclusion from the local Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. Numerical examples of stationary and moving circles inside the unit disk are shown. The results have applications to nondestructive testing. Consider a physical body consisting of homogeneous material with constant heat conductivity except for a moving inclusion with different conductivity. Then the location and shape of the inclusion can be monitored from temperature and heat flux measurements performed at the boundary of the body. Such a situation appears for example in blast furnaces used in ironmaking.  相似文献

A subset S of some vector space X is said to be outer Γ-convex w.r.t. some given balanced subset Γ ? X if for all x 0, x 1 ? S there exists a closed subset Λ ? [0,1] such that {x λ | λ ? Λ} ? S and [x 0, x 1] ? {x λ | λ ? Λ} + 0.5 Γ, where x λ: = (1 ? λ)x 0 + λ x 1. A real-valued function f:D → ? defined on some convex D ? X is called outer Γ-convex if for all x 0, x 1 ? D there exists a closed subset Λ ? [0,1] such that [x 0, x 1] ? {x λ | λ ? Λ} + 0.5 Γ and f(x λ) ≤ (1 ? λ)f(x 0) + λ f(x 1) holds for all λ ? Λ. Outer Γ-convex functions possess some similar optimization properties as these of convex functions, e.g., lower level sets of outer Γ-convex functions are outer Γ-convex and Γ-local minimizers are global minimizers. Some properties of outer Γ-convex sets and functions are presented, among others a simplex property of outer Γ-convex sets, which is applied for establishing a separation theorem and for proving the existence of modified subgradients of outer Γ-convex functions.  相似文献

Let K be a commutative ring with unity, R a prime K-algebra of characteristic different from 2, U the right Utumi quotient ring of R, f(x 1,…, x n ) a noncentral multilinear polynomial over K, and G a nonzero generalized derivation of R. Denote f(R) the set of all evaluations of the polynomial f(x 1,…, x n ) in R. If [G(u)u, G(v)v] = 0, for any u, v ∈ f(R), we prove that there exists c ∈ U such that G(x) = cx, for all x ∈ R and one of the following holds: 1. f(x 1,…, x n )2 is central valued on R;

2. R satisfies s 4, the standard identity of degree 4.

Let 𝒫(n, D) be the set of all monic polynomials in ?/n?[x] of degree D. A least common multiple for 𝒫(n, D) is a monic polynomial L ∈ ?/n?[x] of minimal degree such that f divides L for all f ∈ 𝒫(n, D). A least common multiple for 𝒫(n, D) always exists, but need not be unique; however, its degree is always unique. In this article, we establish some bounds for the degree of a least common multiple for 𝒫(n, D), present constructions for common multiples in ?/n?[x], and describe a connection to rings of integer-valued polynomials over matrix rings.  相似文献

Let K be a field, D a finite distributive lattice and P the set of all join-irreducible elements of D. We show that if {y ∈ P | y ≥ x} is pure for any x ∈ P, then the Hibi ring ? K (D) is level. Using this result and the argument of sagbi basis theory, we show that the homogeneous coordinate rings of Schubert subvarieties of Grassmannians are level.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K, X be an indeterminate over D, Γ be a numerical semigroup with Γ ? ?0, D[Γ] be the semigroup ring of Γ over D (and hence D ? D[Γ] ? D[X]), and D + X n K[X] = {a + X n ga ∈ D and g ∈ K[X]}. We show that there exists an order-preserving bijection between Spec(D[X]) and Spec(D[Γ]), which also preserves t-ideals. We also prove that D[Γ] is an APvMD (resp., AGCD-domain) if and only if D[X] is an APvMD (resp., AGCD-domain) and char(D) ≠ 0. We show that if n ≥ 2, then D is an APvMD (resp., AGCD-domain, AGGCD-domain, AP-domain, AB-domain) and char(D) ≠ 0 if and only if D + X n K[X] is an APvMD (resp., AGCD-domain, AGGCD-domain, AP-domain, AB-domain). Finally, we give some examples of APvMDs which are not AGCD-domains by using the constructions D[Γ] and D + X n K[X].  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain, S be a (saturated) multiplicative subset of D such that D ? D S , Γ be a numerical semigroup with Γ ? ?0, Γ* = Γ?{0}, X be an indeterminate over D, D + XD S [X] = {a + Xg ∈ D S [X]∣a ∈ D and g ∈ D S [X]}, and D + D S [Γ*] = {a + f ∈ D S [Γ]∣a ∈ D and f ∈ D S [Γ*]}; so D + D S [Γ*] ? D + XD S [X]. In this article, we study when D + D S [Γ*] is an APvMD, an AGCD-domain, an AS-domain, an AP-domain, or an AB-domain.  相似文献

Let G be a finite graph on the vertex set [d] = {1,…, d} with the edges e 1,…, e n and K[t] = K[t 1,…, t d ] the polynomial ring in d variables over a field K. The edge ring of G is the semigroup ring K[G] which is generated by those monomials t e  = t i t j such that e = {i, j} is an edge of G. Let K[x] = K[x 1,…, x n ] be the polynomial ring in n variables over K, and define the surjective homomorphism π: K[x] → K[G] by setting π(x i ) = t e i for i = 1,…, n. The toric ideal I G of G is the kernel of π. It will be proved that, given integers f and d with 6 ≤ f ≤ d, there exists a finite connected nonbipartite graph G on [d] together with a reverse lexicographic order <rev on K[x] and a lexicographic order <lex on K[x] such that (i) K[G] is normal with Krull-dim K[G] = d, (ii) depth K[x]/in<rev (I G ) = f and K[x]/in<lex (I G ) is Cohen–Macaulay, where in<rev (I G ) (resp., in<lex (I G )) is the initial ideal of I G with respect to <rev (resp., <lex) and where depth K[x]/in<rev (I G ) is the depth of K[x]/in<rev (I G ).  相似文献

We provide irreducibility criteria for multivariate polynomials with coefficients in an arbitrary field that extend a classical result of Pólya for polynomials with integer coefficients. In particular, we provide irreducibility conditions for polynomials of the form f(X)(Y ? f 1(X))…(Y ? f n (X)) + g(X), with f, f 1, ?, f n , g univariate polynomials over an arbitrary field.  相似文献

Let T be an integral domain with a maximal ideal M, ?: T → K: = T/M the natural surjection, and R the pullback ??1(D), where D is a proper subring of K. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the mixed extensions R[x 1]]…[x n ]] to be catenarian, where each [x i ]] is fixed as either [x i ] or [[x i ]]. We also give a complete answer to the question of determining the field extensions k ? K such that the contraction map Spec(K[x 1]]…[x n ]]) → Spec(k[x 1]]…[x n ]]) is a homeomorphism. As an application, we characterize the globalized pseudo-valuation domains R such that R[x 1]]…[x n ]] is catenarian.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K. We define an element α ∈ K to be pseudo-almost integral over D if there is an infinite increasing sequence {s i } of natural numbers and a nonzero c ∈ D with cα s i  ∈ D. We investigate when a pseudo-almost integral element is almost integral or integral. We also determine the sequences {s i } with the property that for any domain D and α ∈ K, whenever cα s i  ∈ D for some nonzero c ∈ D, than α is actually almost integral over D.  相似文献
