Necessary and sufficient conditions for simplicity of a general skew group ring A ?σ G are not known. In this article, we show that a skew group ring A ?σ G, of an abelian group G, is simple if and only if its centre is a field and A is G-simple. As an application, we show that a transformation group (X, G), where X is a compact Hausdorff space acted upon by an abelian group G, is minimal and faithful if and only if its associated skew group algebra C(X) ?σ G is simple.  相似文献

Let M = FH be a finite group that is a product of a normal abelian subgroup F and an abelian subgroup H. Assume that all elements in M?F have prime order p, and F has at most one subgroup of order p. Examples of such groups are dihedral groups for p = 2 and the semidirect product of a cyclic group F by a group H of prime order p such that C F (H) = 1 or |C F (H)| =p and C F/C F (H)(H) = 1. Suppose that M acts on a finite group G in such a manner that C G (F) = 1. We prove that the Fitting height h(G) of G is at most h(C G (H))+ 1. Moreover, the Fitting series of C G (H) coincides with the intersection of C G (H) with the Fitting series of G.  相似文献

Let G be a complete monomial group with nilpotent base, namely, G = N wr Sym m , the wreath product of a finite nilpotent group N with the symmetric group on m letters. Then G satisfies the normalizer conjecture for ?G.  相似文献

A finite group G is called a Schur group, if any Schur ring over G is associated in a natural way with a subgroup of Sym(G) that contains all right translations. Recently, the authors have completely identified the cyclic Schur groups. In this article, it is shown that any abelian Schur group belongs to one of several explicitly given families only. In particular, any noncyclic abelian Schur group of odd order is isomorphic to ?3 × ?3 k or ?3 × ?3 × ? p where k ≥ 1 and p is a prime. In addition, we prove that ?2 × ?2 × ? p is a Schur group for every prime p.  相似文献

Let G be a p-adic Lie group with Lie algebra 𝔤 and Ad: G → Aut(𝔤) be the adjoint representation. It was claimed in the literature that the kernel K?ker(Ad) always has an abelian open normal subgroup. We show by means of a counterexample that this assertion is false. It can even happen that K = G, but G has no abelian subnormal subgroup except for the trivial group. The arguments are based on auxiliary results on subgroups of free products with central amalgamation.  相似文献

For positive integers ? and n, several authors studied ??-gradings of the full matrix ring M n (k) over a field k. In this article, we show that every (G × H)-grading of M n (k) can be constructed by a pair of compatible G-grading and H-grading of M n (k), where G and H are any finite groups. When G and H are finite cyclic groups, we characterize all (G × H)-gradings which are isomorphic to a good grading. Moreover, the results can be generalized for any finite abelian group grading of M n (k).  相似文献

We associate a graph Γ G to a nonlocally cyclic group G (called the noncyclic graph of G) as follows: take G\ Cyc(G) as vertex set, where Cyc(G) = {x ? G| 〈x, y〉 is cyclic for all y ? G}, and join two vertices if they do not generate a cyclic subgroup. We study the properties of this graph and we establish some graph theoretical properties (such as regularity) of this graph in terms of the group ones. We prove that the clique number of Γ G is finite if and only if Γ G has no infinite clique. We prove that if G is a finite nilpotent group and H is a group with Γ G  ? Γ H and |Cyc(G)| = |Cyc(H)| = 1, then H is a finite nilpotent group. We give some examples of groups G whose noncyclic graphs are “unique”, i.e., if Γ G  ? Γ H for some group H, then G ? H. In view of these examples, we conjecture that every finite nonabelian simple group has a unique noncyclic graph. Also we give some examples of finite noncyclic groups G with the property that if Γ G  ? Γ H for some group H, then |G| = |H|. These suggest the question whether the latter property holds for all finite noncyclic groups.  相似文献

Let G = H?S m be the natural wreath product of H by S m , where H is a finite 2-closed group and S m is the symmetric group of degree m. It is shown that the normalizer property holds for G.  相似文献

Let G be an abelian group and let R be a commutative ring with identity. Denote by R t G a commutative twisted group algebra (a commutative twisted group ring) of G over R, by ?(R) and ?(R t G) the nil radicals of R and R t G, respectively, by G p the p-component of G and by G 0 the torsion subgroup of G. We prove that:
  1. If R is a ring of prime characteristic p, the multiplicative group R* of R is p-divisible and ?(R) = 0, then there exists a twisted group algebra R t 1 (G/G p ) such that R t G/?(R t G) ? R t 1 (G/G p ) as R-algebras;

  2. If R is a ring of prime characterisitic p and R* is p-divisible, then ?(R t G) = 0 if and only if ?(R) = 0 and G p  = 1; and

  3. If B(R) = 0, the orders of the elements of G 0 are not zero divisors in R, H is any group and the commutative twisted group algebra R t G is isomorphic as R-algebra to some twisted group algebra R t 1 H, then R t G 0 ? R t 1 H 0 as R-algebras.

Let G be a 2-edge-connected simple graph, and let A denote an abelian group with the identity element 0. If a graph G * is obtained by repeatedly contracting nontrivial A-connected subgraphs of G until no such a subgraph left, we say G can be A-reduced to G*. A graph G is bridged if every cycle of length at least 4 has two vertices x, y such that d G (x, y) < d C (x, y). In this paper, we investigate the group connectivity number Λ g (G) = min{n: G is A-connected for every abelian group with |A| ≥ n} for bridged graphs. Our results extend the early theorems for chordal graphs by Lai (Graphs Comb 16:165–176, 2000) and Chen et al. (Ars Comb 88:217–227, 2008).  相似文献

We associate a graph 𝒩 G with a group G (called the non-nilpotent graph of G) as follows: take G as the vertex set and two vertices are adjacent if they generate a non-nilpotent subgroup. In this article, we study the graph theoretical properties of 𝒩 G and its induced subgraph on G \ nil(G), where nil(G) = {x ∈ G | ? x, y ? is nilpotent for all y ∈ G}. For any finite group G, we prove that 𝒩 G has either |Z*(G)| or |Z*(G)| +1 connected components, where Z*(G) is the hypercenter of G. We give a new characterization for finite nilpotent groups in terms of the non-nilpotent graph. In fact, we prove that a finite group G is nilpotent if and only if the set of vertex degrees of 𝒩 G has at most two elements.  相似文献

We classify gradings by arbitrary abelian groups on the classical simple Lie and Jordan superalgebras Q(n), n ≥ 2, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from 2 (and not dividing n + 1 in the Lie case): Fine gradings up to equivalence and G-gradings, for a fixed group G, up to isomorphism.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and ? be a family of subgroups of G closed under conjugation and taking subgroups. We consider the question whether there exists a periodic relative ?-projective resolution for ? when ? is the family of all subgroups H ≤ G with rk H ≤ rkG ? 1. We answer this question negatively by calculating the relative group cohomology ?H*(G, 𝔽2) where G = ?/2 × ?/2 and ? is the family of cyclic subgroups of G. To do this calculation we first observe that the relative group cohomology ?H*(G, M) can be calculated using the ext-groups over the orbit category of G restricted to the family ?. In second part of the paper, we discuss the construction of a spectral sequence that converges to the cohomology of a group G and whose horizontal line at E 2 page is isomorphic to the relative group cohomology of G.  相似文献

It is well known that the abelianization of a group G can be computed as the cokernel of the diagonal morphism (1G, 1G): G → G × G in the category of groups. We generalize this to arbitrary regular subtractive categories, among which are the category of groups, the category of topological groups, and the categories of other group-like structures. We also establish that an abelian category is the same as a regular subtractive category in which every monomorphism is a kernel of some morphism.  相似文献

Let A be a torsion-free abelian group and F a free subgroup of A. We prove that if A/F is a reduced p-group and A/(F + C) is reduced for every p-pure subgroup C of A, then A is free.

Let KG be the group algebra of an abelian group G over a field K of prime characteristic p. Denote by S(KG) the p-component of the group V(KG) of normalized units of KG (of augmentation 1). Let H be an arbitrary group and KH ? KG as K-algebras. We prove the following. First, assume that G is a splitting group, the p-component G p of G is simply presented, and the field K is perfect. Then H p  ? G p . If, in addition, G is p-mixed, then G p is a direct factor of S(KG), and G is a direct factor of V(KG), each with the same simply presented complement. Secondly, we introduce a class of special p-mixed abelian groups and prove that, if G belong to this class, then any group basis of the group algebra KG splits. Besides, H is p-mixed and splits. Thirdly, if G is a special p-mixed abelian group and G p is a reduced totally projective p-group, then H ? G. These results correct some essential inaccuracies and incompleteness in the proofs of results in this direction of Danchev [3-8 Danchev , P. V. ( 1998 ). Let A be an elementary abelian group of order at least p 3 acting on a finite p′-group G that is soluble with derived length d. Assume that γ c (C G (a)) has exponent dividing m for any a ∈ A #. It is proved that there exist {p, d, c, m}-bounded numbers c 1 and m 1 such that γ c 1 (G) has exponent dividing m 1.  相似文献

In this paper, we complete the classification of those finite 3-groups G whose integral group rings have the multiplicative Jordan decomposition property. If G is abelian, then it is clear that ?[G] satisfies the multiplicative Jordan decomposition (MJD). In the nonabelian case, we show that ?[G] satisfies MJD if and only if G is one of the two nonabelian groups of order 33 = 27.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We introduce the notion of weak transitivity for torsion-free abelian groups. A torsion-free abelian group G is called weakly transitive if for any pair of elements x, y ∈ G and endomorphisms ?, ψ ∈ End(G) such that x? = y, yψ = x, there exists an automorphism of G mapping x onto y. It is shown that every suitable ring can be realized as the endomorphism ring of a weakly transitive torsion-free abelian group, and we characterize up to a number-theoretical property the separable weakly transitive torsion-free abelian groups.  相似文献
