On bipartite zero-divisor graphs   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A (finite or infinite) complete bipartite graph together with some end vertices all adjacent to a common vertex is called a complete bipartite graph with a horn. For any bipartite graph G, we show that G is the graph of a commutative semigroup with 0 if and only if it is one of the following graphs: star graph, two-star graph, complete bipartite graph, complete bipartite graph with a horn. We also prove that a zero-divisor graph is bipartite if and only if it contains no triangles. In addition, we give all corresponding zero-divisor semigroups of a class of complete bipartite graphs with a horn and determine which complete r-partite graphs with a horn have a corresponding semigroup for r≥3.  相似文献

It has been shown by MacGillivray and Seyffarth (Austral. J. Combin. 24 (2001) 91) that bridgeless line graphs of complete graphs, complete bipartite graphs, and planar graphs have small cycle double covers. In this paper, we extend the result for complete bipartite graphs, and show that the line graph of any complete multipartite graph (other than K1,2) has a small cycle double cover.  相似文献

In this paper, a new zero-divisor graph $\overline{\G}(S)$ is defined and studied for a commutative semigroup $S$ with zero element. In 2003, Liu set up the joint tree model such that an embedding of a graph on a surface can be represented by a joint tree, further by an associated surface of it. In this paper, by dividing an associated surface into segments layer by layer and doing a sequence of operations on the layer division, we obtain the genus of complete bipartite graphs with a different method as before. Based on it, firstly, the genus of a new type of graph is derived. Then the number of non-homeomorphic genus embeddings of some complete bipartite graph is easily estimated.  相似文献

For two integers a and b, we say that a bipartite graph G admits an (a, b)-bipartition if G has a bipartition (X, Y) such that |X| = a and |Y| = b. We say that two bipartite graphs G and H are compatible if, for some integers a and b, both G and H admit (a, b)-bipartitions. In this note, we prove that any two compatible trees of order n can be packed into a complete bipartite graph of order at most n + 1. We also provide a family of infinitely many pairs of compatible trees which cannot be packed into a complete bipartite graph of the same order. The margin shop arises as a model of margining investment portfolios in a batch, a mandatory end-of-day risk management operation for any prime brokerage firm. The margin-shop scheduling problem is the extension of the preemptive flow-shop scheduling problem where precedence constraints can be introduced between preempted parts of jobs. This paper is devoted to the bipartite case which is equivalent to the problem of finding a maximum red matching that is free of blue–red alternating cycles in a complete bipartite graph with blue and red edges. It is also equivalent to the version of the jump-number problem for bipartite posets where jumps inside only one part should be counted. We show that the unit-time bipartite margin-shop scheduling problem is NP-hard but can be solved in polynomial time if the precedence graph is of degree at most two or a forest.  相似文献

The cut polytope of a graph arises in many fields. Although much is known about facets of the cut polytope of the complete graph, very little is known for general graphs. The study of Bell inequalities in quantum information science requires knowledge of the facets of the cut polytope of the complete bipartite graph or, more generally, the complete k-partite graph. Lifting is a central tool to prove certain inequalities are facet inducing for the cut polytope. In this paper we introduce a lifting operation, named triangular elimination, applicable to the cut polytope of a wide range of graphs. Triangular elimination is a specific combination of zero-lifting and Fourier–Motzkin elimination using the triangle inequality. We prove sufficient conditions for the triangular elimination of facet inducing inequalities to be facet inducing. The proof is based on a variation of the lifting lemma adapted to general graphs. The result can be used to derive facet inducing inequalities of the cut polytope of various graphs from those of the complete graph. We also investigate the symmetry of facet inducing inequalities of the cut polytope of the complete bipartite graph derived by triangular elimination.   相似文献

For an edge‐colored graph, its minimum color degree is defined as the minimum number of colors appearing on the edges incident to a vertex and its maximum monochromatic degree is defined as the maximum number of edges incident to a vertex with a same color. A cycle is called properly colored if every two of its adjacent edges have distinct colors. In this article, we first give a minimum color degree condition for the existence of properly colored cycles, then obtain the minimum color degree condition for an edge‐colored complete graph to contain properly colored triangles. Afterwards, we characterize the structure of an edge‐colored complete bipartite graph without containing properly colored cycles of length 4 and give the minimum color degree and maximum monochromatic degree conditions for an edge‐colored complete bipartite graph to contain properly colored cycles of length 4, and those passing through a given vertex or edge, respectively.  相似文献

We study the family of graphs whose number of primitive cycles equals its cycle rank. It is shown that this family is precisely the family of ring graphs. Then we study the complete intersection property of toric ideals of bipartite graphs and oriented graphs. An interesting application is that complete intersection toric ideals of bipartite graphs correspond to ring graphs and that these ideals are minimally generated by Gröbner bases. We prove that any graph can be oriented such that its toric ideal is a complete intersection with a universal Gröbner basis determined by the cycles. It turns out that bipartite ring graphs are exactly the bipartite graphs that have complete intersection toric ideals for any orientation.  相似文献
