Given a field 𝕂 of characteristic 2 and an integer n ≥ 2, let W(2n ? 1, 𝕂) be the symplectic polar space defined in PG(2n ? 1, 𝕂) by a non-degenerate alternating form of V(2n, 𝕂) and let Q(2n, 𝕂) be the quadric of PG(2n, 𝕂) associated to a non-singular quadratic form of Witt index n. In the literature it is often claimed that W(2n ? 1, 𝕂) ? Q(2n, 𝕂). This is true when 𝕂 is perfect, but false otherwise. In this article, we modify the previous claim in order to obtain a statement that is correct for any field of characteristic 2. Explicitly, we prove that W(2n ? 1, 𝕂) is indeed isomorphic to a non-singular quadric Q, but when 𝕂 is non-perfect the nucleus of Q has vector dimension greater than 1. So, in this case, Q(2n, 𝕂) is a proper subgeometry of W(2n ? 1, 𝕂). We show that, in spite of this fact, W(2n ? 1, 𝕂) can be embedded in Q(2n, 𝕂) as a subgeometry and that this embedding induces a full embedding of the dual DW(2n ? 1, 𝕂) of W(2n ? 1, 𝕂) into the dual DQ(2n, 𝕂) of Q(2n, 𝕂).  相似文献

Let V be 2n-dimensional vector space over a field 𝕂 equipped with a nondegenerate skew-ψ-Hermitian form f of Witt index n ≥ 1, let 𝕂0 ? 𝕂 be the fix field of ψ and let G denote the group of isometries of (V, f). For every k ∈ {1, …, 2n}, there exist natural representations of the groups G ? U(2n, 𝕂/𝕂0) and H = GSL(V) ? SU(2n, 𝕂/𝕂0) on the k-th exterior power of V. With the aid of linear algebra, we prove some properties of these representations. We also discuss some applications to projective embeddings and hyperplanes of Hermitian dual polar spaces.  相似文献

Given an integer n?≥?3, we investigate the minimal dimension of a subalgebra of M n (𝕂) with a trivial centralizer. It is shown that this dimension is 5 when n is even and 4 when it is odd. In the latter case, we also determine all 4-dimensional subalgebras with a trivial centralizer.  相似文献

Let 𝕂 be a field, and let R = 𝕂[x 1,…, x n ] be the polynomial ring over 𝕂 in n indeterminates x 1,…, x n . Let G be a graph with vertex-set {x 1,…, x n }, and let J be the cover ideal of G in R. For a given positive integer k, we denote the kth symbolic power and the kth bracket power of J by J (k) and J [k], respectively. In this paper, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for R/J k , R/J (k), and R/J [k] to be Cohen–Macaulay. We also study the limit behavior of the depths of these rings.  相似文献

Abstract

Let 𝕂 be a field of characteristic zero, and R be a G-graded 𝕂-algebra. We consider the algebra R ? E, then deduce its G × ?2-graded polynomial identities starting from the G-graded polynomial identities of R. As a consequence, we describe a basis for the ? n  × ?2-graded identities of the algebras M n (E). Moreover we give the graded cocharacter sequence of M 2(E), and show that M 2(E) is PI-equivalent to M 1,1(E) ? E. This fact is a particular case of a more general result obtained by Kemer.  相似文献

Let 𝒞 be a class of groups. We give sufficient conditions ensuring that a free product of residually 𝒞 groups is again residually 𝒞, and analogous conditions are given for LE-𝒞 groups. As a corollary, we obtain that the class of residually amenable groups and the one of locally embeddable into amenable (LEA) groups are closed under taking free products.

Moreover, we consider the pro-𝒞 topology and we characterize special HNN extensions and amalgamated free products that are residually 𝒞, where 𝒞 is a suitable class of groups. In this way, we describe special HNN extensions and amalgamated free products that are residually amenable.  相似文献

For any field 𝕂 and integer n ≥ 2, we consider the Leavitt algebra L 𝕂(n); for any integer d ≥ 1, we form the matrix ring S = M d (L 𝕂(n)). S is an associative algebra, but we view S as a Lie algebra using the bracket [a, b] = ab ? ba for a, b ∈ S. We denote this Lie algebra as S ?, and consider its Lie subalgebra [S ?, S ?]. In our main result, we show that [S ?, S ?] is a simple Lie algebra if and only if char(𝕂) divides n ? 1 and char(𝕂) does not divide d. The Yoneda algebra of a Koszul algebra or a D-Koszul algebra is Koszul. 𝒦2 algebras are a natural generalization of Koszul algebras, and one would hope that the Yoneda algebra of a 𝒦2 algebra would be another 𝒦2 algebra. We show that this is not necessarily the case by constructing a monomial 𝒦2 algebra for which the corresponding Yoneda algebra is not 𝒦2.  相似文献

We consider real analytic involutive structures 𝒱, of co-rank one, defined on a real analytic paracompact orientable manifold M. To each such structure we associate certain connected subsets of M which we call the level sets of 𝒱. We prove that analytic regularity propagates along them. With a further assumption on the level sets of 𝒱 we characterize the global analytic hypoellipticity of a differential operator naturally associated to 𝒱.

If U is a nonempty open subset of Y and 𝔪 a closed point of U, we denote by A ? R 𝔪 its local ring in X, by 𝔭 the extension of 𝔮 in A, and by K the algebraic closure of the residue field k(𝔭).

Then there exists a bijection γ𝔪:Proj(G 𝔭(A) ?  A/𝔭 k) → Proj(G(A 𝔭) ?  k(𝔭)K) such that for every subset Σ of Proj(G 𝔭(A) ?  A/𝔭 k), the Hilbert function of Σ coincides with the Hilbert function of γ𝔪(Σ). Let 𝔤 be a finite-dimensional complex semisimple Lie algebra and σ an arbitrary semisimple automorphism of 𝔤. Let 𝔱 be a Cartan subalgebra of 𝔨 = 𝔤σ and 𝔥 =Z 𝔤(𝔱) be the centralizer of 𝔱 in 𝔤. Then 𝔥 is a σ-invariant Cartan subalgebra of 𝔤 and 𝔱 = 𝔥σ. Let W(𝔤, 𝔥) be the Weyl group. One knows that Δ(𝔤, 𝔱), the set of roots of 𝔤 in 𝔱, is also a root system. It is proved that the corresponding Weyl group W(𝔤, 𝔱) is isomorphic to W(𝔤, 𝔥)σ, which is the subgroup of W(𝔤, 𝔥) consisting of those elements commuting with σ. It is also shown that the image of the restriction map S(𝔥*) W(𝔤, 𝔥) → S(𝔱*) W(𝔨, 𝔱), where S(𝔥*) and S(𝔱*) are the polynomial algebras on 𝔥 and 𝔱, respectively, is exactly S(𝔱*) W(𝔤, 𝔱). Based on the above result, we also get a complete classification of the pairs (𝔤, σ) such that 𝔤σ is noncohomologous to zero in 𝔤.  相似文献
