It is shown that prime ideals of a Noetherian ring are linked if and only if certain corresponding prime ideals are linked in an associated Artinian ring. Furthermore, it is shown that there is a canonical linking ideal, which can be found by using a construction based on middle annihilator ideals.  相似文献

In this article, we prove that every binomial ideal in a polynomial ring over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero admits a canonical primary decomposition into binomial ideals. Moreover, we prove that this special decomposition is obtained from a cellular decomposition which is also defined in a canonical way and does not depend on the field.  相似文献

Any class of domains, in particular a class of domains that arises from generalizations of factoriality, invites questions about its stability under the standard operations. One of these generalizations of factoriality is the one that requires that every nonzero element be contained in only finitely many principal prime ideals of height one. We use this property to settle all the open cases in the literature on stability of generalizations of factoriality under the standard ring extensions. The paper provides a compendium on the stability, under ring extensions, of all the known generalizations of factoriality. We also use stability properties of factorization in extensions of valuation domains to give a new characterization of discrete valuation domains.  相似文献

Simple locally compact rings without open left ideals were considered in [13] and general locally compact rings without open left ideals were studied extensively in [5] and [6]. We remove the hypothesis of local compactness and consider topological rings A without open left ideals but containing an open subring R. In section 4 we show that under these conditions A is completely determined by R. More precisely A can be identified with the topological ring of quotients C(R) introduced in [8]. As an R-module RA is topologically isomorphic to I*(RR), the topological injective hull of RR. The last statement was proved in [6] for A locally compact and R compact. Section 5 gives a characterization of those linearly topologized rings R that can be openly embedded into a ring A without open left ideals. In particular we shall show that the open left ideals form an idempotent ideal filter with quotient ring A. In section 6 we consider the class ? of all topological rings that can be openly embedded into a topological ring without open left ideals. If we restrict our attention to linearly topologized rings, then ? is Morita-invariant. In section 2 we construct a topological ring of quotients Q*(R) and prove that it coincides with the ring C(R) of [8].  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring with Noetherian spectrum in which zero is a primary ideal. We determine the minimal zero-dimensional extensions of R when every regular prime ideal of R is contained in only finitely many prime ideals. This extends previous results of the first author for dim (R) ≤1. We also present a characterization of the partially ordered set of prime ideals in a ring with Noetherian spectrum.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of a Betti-linear monomial ideal, which generalizes the notion of lattice-linear monomial ideal introduced by Clark. We provide a characterization of Betti-linearity in terms of Tchernev's poset construction. As an application we obtain an explicit canonical construction for the minimal free resolutions of monomial ideals having pure resolutions.  相似文献

Abstract

Using a general definition of a regularity for rings, F- and F- qausi-ideals of a ring are defined. These concepts are shown to be generalizations of ideals or one-sided ideals of a ring. An F-semi prime F—(F-quasi-) ideal of a ring R is also defined. F-regular rings are characterized in terms of F-semi prime F- (F-quasi-) ideals for a large class of polynomial regularities including some well known regularities. A more general characterization of the prime radical β(R) of a ring are given in terms of F—(F-quasi-) ideals.  相似文献

Thea-invariant of a graded Cohen-Macaulay ring is the least degree of a generator of its graded canonical module. We compute thea-invariants of (i) graded algebras with straightening laws on upper semi-modular lattices and (ii) the Stanley-Reisner rings of shellable weighted simplicial complexes. The formulas obtained are applied to rings defined by determinantal and pfaffian ideals.  相似文献

The notion of content is used to solve certain problems. In the first part, we show that the structural morphism of a content algebra (see the paper of D.E. Rush [22] ) is spectrally open, under mild hypothesis. We show also that a flat module is universally content if and only if it is a Mittag-Leffler’s module in the sense of f2ll . In the second part, using content, we exhibit a kind of localization of a commutative ring A, attached to eyery subset X of Spec(A) i.e. a flat morphism A→ X(A). We can thus show that every quasi-compact, stable under generization subset of a spectra is a spectral image under a flat morphism, in a canonical way. We can also give in certain cases an elementary construction of the maximal flat injective epimor-phism of a ring. Suppose that A is a Noetherian ring and consider pro-perties of Noetherian rings such as factoriality, normality and so on.

Let X be the set of prime ideals of A at which A has the property. If X is stable under generization, the flat morphism A→ X(A) verifies hin general the ring X(A) has lornlly the property and a prime ideal P of A has a prime ideal lying over in X(A) if and only if pthe ring has the property at P.  相似文献

An ideal I of a ring R is said to be strongly irreducible if for ideals J and K of R, the inclusion JKI implies that either JI or KI. The relationship among the families of irreducible ideals, strongly irreducible ideals, and prime ideals of a commutative ring R is considered, and a characterization is given of the Noetherian rings which contain a non-prime strongly irreducible ideal.  相似文献

It is shown that in a well known characterization of radical classes, closure under unions of chains of ideals can be replaced by closure under unions of continuous well-ordered chains of ideals. Some consequences are discussed.  相似文献

R denotes a commutative ring. After Bass[B], a ring R is perfect in case every module has a projective cover. A ring R is a max ring provided that every nonzero i2-module has a maximal submodule. Bass characterized perfect rings as semilocal rings with T-nilpotent Jacobson radical J, and showed they are max rings. Moreover, Bass proved that R is perfect iff R satisfies the dec on principal ideals. Using Bass' theorems, the Hamsher-Koifman ([H],[K]) characterization of max R (see (3) ?(4) below), and the characterization of max R by the author via subdirectly irreducible quasi-injective R-modules, we obtain.  相似文献

In this paper we provide a complete characterization for when the Rees algebra and the associated graded ring of a perfect Gorenstein ideal of grade three are Cohen–Macaulay. We also treat the case of second analytic deviation one ideals satisfying some mild assumptions. In another set of results we give criteria for an ideal to be of linear type. Finally, we describe the equations defining the Rees algebras of certain Northcott ideals.  相似文献

We study the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy sublattices and intuitionistic fuzzy ideals of a lattice. Some characterization and properties of these intuitionistic fuzzy sublattices and ideals are established. Also we introduce the sum and product of two intuitionistic fuzzy ideals and prove that the sum and product of two Intuitionistic fuzzy ideals of a distributive lattice is again an intuitionistic fuzzy ideal. Moreover, we study the properties of intuitionistic fuzzy ideals under lattice homomorphism.  相似文献

Canonical characteristic sets of characterizable differential ideals are studied. For the ordinary case, an estimate of orders of elements from the canonical characteristic set is proved. It is also shown how one can verify the equality of characterizable ideals without using canonical characteristic sets.  相似文献

In a two dimensional regular local ring integrally closed ideals have a unique factorization property and their associated graded ring is Cohen–Macaulay. In higher dimension these properties do not hold and the goal of the paper is to identify a subclass of integrally closed ideals for which they do. We restrict our attention to 0-dimensional homogeneous ideals in polynomial rings R of arbitrary dimension. We identify a class of integrally closed ideals, the Goto-class G*{\mathcal {G}^*}, which is closed under product and it has a suitable unique factorization property. Ideals in G*{\mathcal {G}^*} have a Cohen–Macaulay associated graded ring if either they are monomial or dim R ≤ 3. Our approach is based on the study of the relationship between the notions of integrally closed, contracted, full and componentwise linear ideals.  相似文献

Motivated by Stillman's question, we show that the projective dimension of an ideal generated by four quadric forms in a polynomial ring is at most 6; moreover, this bound is tight. We achieve this bound, in part, by giving a characterization of the low degree generators of ideals primary to height three primes of multiplicities one and two.  相似文献

A characterization of factorial Noetherian domains in terms of 0-submodules is presented and it is applied to give a criterion for the ring of a hypersurface to be factorial (Vasconcelos, Computational Methods in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry, Springer, Berlin, 1998) and to reduce a conjecture of Evans and Grffith in Syzygies (Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, UK, 1985) to ideals.  相似文献

We analyze symmetric algebras which arise from rather ‘bad’ ideals and modules. For example, the ideals are mixed, and every value ≠ 0 occurs as the projective dimension of one of the modules. We are interested in the Cohen-Macaulay property, the canonical module, normality, and the divisor class group. The symmetric algebras under consideration can be defined as residue class rings modulo determinantal ideals covered by the theory of Hochster-Eagon. Part of the results can be regarded as an extension of work of Andrade and Simis.  相似文献
