Irreducible Subgroups of GL 1(D) Satisfying Group Identities

ABSTRACT

Let D be a finite dimensional F -central division algebra and G an irreducible subgroup of D*: = GL ₁(D). Here we investigate the structure of D under various group identities on G. In particular, it is shown that when [D:F] = p ², p a prime, then D is cyclic if and only if D* contains a nonabelian subgroup satisfying a group identity.     

Dubrovin Valuation Skew Group Rings

Finite Groups Whose Generalized Hypercenter Contains Some Subgroups of Prime Power Order

A subgroup of a group G is said to be S-quasinormal in G if it permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. A subgroup H of a group G is said to be S-quasinormally embedded in G if every Sylow subgroup of H is a Sylow subgroup of some S-quasinormal subgroup of G. In this article, we investigate the structure of the finite group G under the assumption that certain abelian subgroups of prime power order are S-quasinormally embedded in G and lie in the generlized hypercenter of G.

Noetherian Skew Group Rings of F.C Groups

Let R *θG be the skew group ring with a F.C group G and the group homom-rphismθfrom G to Aut(R), the group of automorphisms of the ring R. In this paper,the necessary and sufficient condition such that R*θG will be Noetherian is given, which generalizes the results of I.G. connel.     

Subnormality in linear groups

This paper investigates subnormality and its generalizations in the universe of linear groups. Among other results, it is proved that in any periodic linear group serial subgroups are ascendant, while descendant subgroups are subnormal. Moreover, the join of subnormal subgroups of linear groups is studied.

Finite Groups with Some Subgroups of Prime Power Order S-Quasinormally Embedded

Abstract

A subgroup of a group G is said to be S-quasinormal in G if it permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. A subgroup H of a group G is said to be S-quasinormally embedded in G if every Sylow subgroup of H is a Sylow subgroup of some S-quasinormal subgroup of G. In this paper we examine the structure of a finite group G under the assumption that certain abelian subgroups of prime power order are S-quasinormally embedded in G. Our results improve and extend recent results of Ramadan [Ramadan, M. (2001). The influence of S-quasinormality of some subgroups of prime power order on the structure of finite groups. Arch. Math. 77:143–148].     

On $\mathfrak{F}_\tau$-$s$-Supplemented Subgroups of Finite Groups

Let $\mathfrak{F}$ be a non-empty formation of groups, $\tau$ a subgroup functor and $H$ a $p$-subgroup of a finite group $G.$ Let $\overline{G}=G/H_G$ and $\overline{H} =H/H_G.$ We say that $H$ is $\mathfrak{F}_\tau$-$s$-supplemented in $G$ if for some subgroup $\overline{T}$ and some $\tau$-subgroup $\overline{S}$ of $\overline{G}$ contained in $\overline{H},$ $\overline{H}\overline{T}$ is subnormal in $\overline{G}$ and $\overline{H} ∩ \overline{T} ≤ \overline{S}Z_{\mathfrak{F}}(\overline{G}).$ In this paper, we investigate the influence of $\mathfrak{F}_\tau$-$s$-supplemented subgroups on the structure of finite groups. Some new characterizations about solubility of finite groups are obtained.     

On Prime Rings Satisfying a Certain Generalized Polynomial Identity

Abstract

Recently, Beidar, Fong and Bokut proved that a prime ring satisfies a nontrivial semigroup generalized identity if and only if its central closure is a primitive ring with nonzero socle and the associated skew field is a field. We shall extend their result to the case when generalized polynomial contains three summands.     

Maximal Subgroups of Subnormal Subgroups of GL n (D) with Finite Conjugacy Classes

Let D be an infinite division ring. A famous result due to Herstein says that every noncentral element of D has infinitely many conjugates in D. So, if D* is an FC-group, then D is a field. Now let N be a subnormal subgroup of GL _n (D), where n ≥ 1, and M a maximal subgroup of N. In this article, we prove that if M is an FC-group, then M is contained in the multiplicative group of some subfield of M _n (D).     

Generalized Skew Derivations with Power Central Values on Lie Ideals

Let R be a prime ring with center Z and L a noncommutative Lie ideal of R. Suppose that f is a right generalized β-derivation of R associated with a β-derivation δ such that f(x) ⁿ  ∈ Z for all x ∈ L, where n is a fixed positive integer. Then f = 0 unless dim  _C RC = 4.     

Generalized Derivations with Engel Conditions on Polynomials

Let R be a noncommutative prime ring with extended centroid C, and let D: R → R be a nonzero generalized derivation, f(X ₁,…, X _t ) a nonzero polynomial in noncommutative indeterminates X ₁,…, X _t over C with zero constant term, and k ≥ 1 a fixed integer. In this article, D and f(X ₁,…, X _t ) are characterized if the Engel identity is satisfied: [D(f(x ₁,…, x _t )), f(x ₁,…, x _t )] _k  = 0 for all x ₁,…, x _t  ∈ R.     

Hochschild Cohomology Ring of the Mod-2 Group Ring of the Generalized Quaternion Group

We will determine the ring structure of the Hochschild cohomology HH?( ₂ Q _t ) of the mod-2 group ring  ₂ Q _t for arbitrary generalized quaternion groups Q _t of order 4t by calculating the ordinary cup product in H?(Q _t , _ψ  ₂ Q _t ).     

Skew Derivations and Engel Conditions

It is known that for a nonzero derivation d of a prime ring R, if a nonzero ideal I of R satisfies the Engel-type identity [[…[[d(x ^{k ₀} ), x ^{k ₁} ], x ^{k ₂} ],…], x ^{k _n} ], then R is commutative. Here we extend this result to a skew derivation of R for a Lie ideal I, which has an immediate corollary that replaces d by an automorphism of R. A related result in two variables is obtained for d a (θ, ?)-derivation.
