Semisimple Lie Algebras of Differential Operators

Starting from the commutation relations in a complex semisimple Lie algebra , one may obtain a space of vector fields on Euclidean space such that and are isomorphic when is equipped with the usual Lie bracket between vector fields and the isotropy subalgebra of is a Borel subalgebra . Furthermore, one may adjoin to the vector fields in multiplication operators to obtain an -parameter family of distinct presentations of as spaces of differential operators, where is the dual of a Cartan subalgebra. Some of these presentations will preserve a space of polynomials on Euclidean space, and, in fact, all the finite-dimensional representations of can be presented in this way. All of this is carried out explicitly for arbitrary . In doing so, one discovers there is a Lie group of diffeomorphisms of the unipotent subgroup N complementary to B which acts on these presentations and preserves a certain notion of weight.     

On the Commutative Twisted Group Algebras

Let G be an abelian group and let R be a commutative ring with identity. Denote by R _t G a commutative twisted group algebra (a commutative twisted group ring) of G over R, by ?(R) and ?(R _t G) the nil radicals of R and R _t G, respectively, by G _p the p-component of G and by G ₀ the torsion subgroup of G. We prove that:

1. If R is a ring of prime characteristic p, the multiplicative group R* of R is p-divisible and ?(R) = 0, then there exists a twisted group algebra R _{t 1} (G/G _p ) such that R _t G/?(R _t G) ? R _{t 1} (G/G _p ) as R-algebras;

2. If R is a ring of prime characterisitic p and R* is p-divisible, then ?(R _t G) = 0 if and only if ?(R) = 0 and G _p  = 1; and

3. If B(R) = 0, the orders of the elements of G ₀ are not zero divisors in R, H is any group and the commutative twisted group algebra R _t G is isomorphic as R-algebra to some twisted group algebra R _{t 1} H, then R _t G ₀ ? R _{t 1} H ₀ as R-algebras.

We study bounded and unbounded *-representations of Twisted Generalized Weyl Algebras and algebras similar to them for different choices of involutions.

In this paper,we get some properties of the antipode of a twisted Hopf algebra.We proved that the graded global dimension of a twisted Hopf algebra coincides with the graded projective dimension of its trivial module k,which is also equal to the projective dimension of k.     

Minimal Idempotents of Twisted Group Algebras of Cyclic 2-Groups

Titchmarsh-Sims-Weyl Theory for Complex Hamiltonian Systems

Symmetry and inverse-closedness of matrix algebras and functional calculus for infinite matrices

We investigate the symbolic calculus for a large class of matrix algebras that are defined by the off-diagonal decay of infinite matrices. Applications are given to the symmetry of some highly non-commutative Banach algebras, to the analysis of twisted convolution, and to the theory of localized frames.

     

Norm closure and extension of the symbolic calculus for the cone algebra

We investigate the symbolic structure of an algebra of pseudodifferential operators on manifolds with conical singularities which has been introduced by B.-W. Schulze. Our main objective is the extension of the symbolic calculus of this algebra to its norm closure in an adapted scale of Sobolev spaces. This procedure yields Banach algebras and Fréchet algebras of singular integral operators with continuous principal symbols.

Index Reduction Formulas for Twisted Flag Varieties, II

This is a continuation of the determination begun in K-Theory 10 (1996), 517–596, of explicit index reduction formulas for function fields of twisted flag varieties of adjoint semisimple algebraic groups. We give index reduction formulas for the varieties associated to the classical simple groups of outer type A _n-1 and D _n, and the exceptional simple groups of type E ₆ and E ₇. We also give formulas for the varieties associated to transfers and direct products of algebraic groups. This allows one to compute recursively the index reduction formulas for the twisted flag varieties of any semi-simple algebraic group.     

Generalized Graded Hecke Algebras of Types B and D

For a root system of type B we study an algebra similar to a graded Hecke algebra, isomorphic to a subalgebra of the rational Cherednik algebra. We introduce principal series modules over it and prove an irreducibility criterion for these modules. We deduce similar results for an algebra associated to a root system of type D.     

On generalized Weyl operators

The ``generalized Weyl' operators between two Hilbert spaces are taken to be those with closed range for which the null space and that of the adjoint are of equal Hilbert space dimension. We show that products of two of these which happen to have closed range, and finite rank perturbation of these, are also generalized Weyl.

Additive Jordan derivations of reflexive algebras

Additive Jordan derivations of certain reflexive algebras are investigated. In particular, additive Jordan derivations of nest algebras on Banach spaces are shown to be additive derivations.     

Lie derivations of -subspace lattice algebras

We describe the structure of Lie derivations of -subspace lattice algebras. The results can apply to atomic Boolean subspace lattice algebras and pentagon subspace lattice algebras, respectively.

     

Field Extensions and Extensions of Linear Differential Operators

Let K R P be a tower of fields, N be a P-module, and : R N be a K-linear differential operator. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether the operator has an extension to P, i.e. if these exists a differential operator : P N such that |_R = . The results of this paper were published in Russian in Mat. Zametki 30(2) (1981), 237–248.     

The Collineation Groups of Generalized Twisted Field Planes

We investigate autotopisms and isotopisms of generalized twisted field planes. A revision of Alberts results is developed using a mixture of group-theoretical and algebraic methods. In particular, transitivity conditions of the autotopism group on the nonvertex points of one or more sides of the autotopism triangle are determined. Also, correlations and polarities in generalized twisted field planes are examined in detail. These results allow us to obtain several improvements of recent results in semifield planes.
