Summary In this paper we define quasi étale ring homomorphisms, as a generalization of étale ones, and we show that if ϕ: A→B is a quasi étale homomorphism of noetherian rings, and A is excellent, then B is excellent. The converse is not always true; however we show that if ϕ is faithfully flat and regular (in particular qnasi étale), if A is universally catenarian and B is excellent, then A is excellent. The above statements can be applied when B is the henselization of A with respect to an ideal; and from this it follows that a Hensel pair is a direct limit of excellent ones.

Let φ:R → Sbe a local homomorphism of Gorenstein local rings of finite flat dimension. We prove if M is a stable maximal Cohen-Macaulay R-module, then M ?R Sis also a stable maximal Cohen-Macaulay S-module. By using it, we also prove that index(R) ≤ index(S).  相似文献

Abstract

A module P is called F-filtered-projective if for any epimorphism β: B → C and any homomorphism Y: P → C factoring through F, there exists a homomorphism α P → B such that β α = y. We collect for a given module P all such modules F into a class F(P) and all exact sequences relative to which P has the projective property, into a class E(P). Starting with & class P of modules P, we construct the classes F(p) and E(p) as the Intersections of the classes F(P) and E(P) respectively as P runs through P. Relative properties of these classes are investigated and in the special case where P is the class of finitely presented modules, we find a new characterization of flat modules which enables us to introduce the concept of semiflatness which in turn is utilized in a characterization of IF, QF and QF-3 rings.  相似文献

Recently, B. Y. Chen introduced a new invariant δ(n1,n2,…,nk) of a Riemannian manifold and proved a basic inequality between the invariant and the extrinsic invariant if, where H is the mean curvature of an immersion Mn in a real space form Rm(ε) of constant curvature ε. He pointed out that such inequality also holds for a totally real immersion in a complex space form. The immersion is called ideal (by B. Y. Chen) if it satisfies the equality case of such inequality identically. In this paper we classify ideal semi-parallel immersions in an Euclidean space if their normal bundle is flat, and prove that every ideal semi-parallel Lagrangian immersion in a complex space form is totally geodesic, moreover this result also holds for ideal semi-symmetric Lagrangian immersions in complex projective space and hyperbolic space.  相似文献

E. Matlis proved that if R is an integral domain with quotient field Q and K is the R-module Q/R, then all torsion R-modules decompose into a direct sum of local submodules if and only if K decomposes into a direct sum of local submodules. Thus K is a test module to determine whether torsion modules decompose. We generalize this result to commutative rings. If R is a commutative ring and a torsion theory of R is given by a Gabriel topology , then form the ring of quotients R and let K be the cokernel of the canonical ring homomorphism from R to R. In some special cases, every -torsion R-module decomposes into a direct sum of local submodules if and only if K decomposes. However, there is an example where this is not the case. The principal result is: given R,  and K, there is a related filter K of ideals of R, which is a subset of , such that all K-pretorsion R-modules decompose into a direct sum of local submodules if and only if K decomposes. The relationship between  and K is investigated.  相似文献

Let A be a field and C a noetherian A-algebra such that C q is a quotient ring of an equicharacteristic local regular ring for each prime ideal q of C We prove that if C is geometrically reduced over A and Ω C/A is flat, then C is regular. We apply this result to prove that a reduced ring homomorphism u :AC is regular when Ω C/A is a flat C-module and C is a complete noetherian local ring or a Nagata local ring. We also study the property of C being locally a complete intersection ring when the flat dimension of Ω C/A finite.  相似文献

Let A, B be rings and P a radical property. Call B an A-Algebra if B is an A-bimodule such that (ba)b1 = b(ab1), (bb1)a = b(b1a), a(bb1) = (ab)b1 for any a ∈ A and any b,b1 ∈ B. A ring R, written as R = A ? B, is called a quasi-direct sum of (A, B) if A is a subring of R, B is an ideal of R and R is a direct sum of A and B as additive groups. The following results are obtained: 1. A quasi-direct sum of (A, B) is uniquely determined by an A-Algebra B (up to isomorphism); 2. The P-radical of the Algebra B is the same as the P-radical of the ring B; 3. P(A ? B) = P(A) +(B) if and only if P(A)B + BP(A) ? P(B); 4. If B has an identity e then P(A ? B) = P(A)(1?e) + P(B); 5. If P(Z) = 0 for the integer ring Z, then P(Mn(R)) = Mn(P(R)) holds for all rings R if and only if the above equality holds for all unitary rings R. In addition, some relationships of radicals between rings (or algebras over a field, semigroup algebras, etc.) and their corresponding identity extensions are discussed.  相似文献

Assume that ?(R, m, k) → (S, n, l) is a local homomorphism between commutative noetherian local rings R and S. We say that an S-module M is almost finite over R if it is finitely generated over S (the R-structure on M is induced by ?). We investigate the homological behaviour of such modules, as well as various properties of the rings R and S in the presence of an almost finite module of finite flat dimension over R.  相似文献

A homomorphism of a digraph to another digraph is an edgepreserving vertex mapping. A local tournament is a digraph in which the inset as well as the outset of each vertex induces a tournament. Thus acyclic local tournaments generalize both directed paths and transitive tournaments. In both these cases there is a simple characterization of homomorphic preimages. Namely, if H is a directed path, or a transitive tournament, then G admits a homomorphism to H if and only if each oriented path which admits a homomorphism to G also admits a homomorphism to H. We prove that this result holds for all acyclic local tournaments. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A ring R is said to be von Newmann local (VNL) if for any a ∈ R, either a or 1 ?a is (von Neumann) regular. The class of VNL rings lies properly between exchange rings and (von Neumann) regular rings. We characterize abelian VNL rings. We also characterize and classify arbitrary VNL rings without an infinite set of orthogonal idempotents; and also the VNL rings having a primitive idempotent e such that eRe is not a division ring. We prove that a semiperfect ring R is VNL if and only if for any right uni-modular row (a 1, a 2) ∈ R 2, one of the a i 's is regular in R. Formal triangular matrix rings that are VNL are also characterized. As a corollary, it is shown that an upper triangular matrix ring T n (R) is VNL if and only if n = 2 or 3 and R is a division ring.  相似文献

Abstract

We show that left IF rings (rings such that every injective left module is flat) have certain regular-like properties. For instance, we prove that every left IF reduced ring is strongly regular. We also give characterizations of (left and right) IF rings. In particular, we show that a ring R is IF if and only if every finitely generated left (and right) ideal is the annihilator of a finite subset of R.  相似文献

We introduce here a method which uses étale neighborhoods to extend results from smooth semi-local rings to arbitrary semi-local rings A by passing to the henselization of a smooth presentation of A. The technique is used to show that étale cohomology of A agrees with Galois cohomology, to show that the Merkuriev-Suslin theorem holds for A, and to describe torsion in K2(A).  相似文献

In this paper we prove that if E is the strict inductive limit of a sequence of Mackey spaces {En} such that for every positive integer n, the topological dual space of En, E′n, provided with the Mackey topology μ(E′n,En), is ultrabornological, then the topological dual space E′ of E, provided with the Mackey topology μ(E′,E), is ultrabornological. We also prove that if E is a strict (LF)-space and G a closed subspace of E′ [μ(E′,E)] such that E′[μ(E′,E)] /G is sequentially complete, then E′[μ(E′,E)]/G is complete.  相似文献

We consider the completion of a topological field whose topology is defined by the valuations of a dependence class of valuation rings. We characterize the separable closure of the field in its completion through henselization of those valuation rings. Actually, we prove that this relative separable closure is the fixed field of some particular subgroup of continuous automorphisms of the total separable closure. We prove also that this relative separable closure has some properties which are analogous to those of the henselization. This paper is part of the author's doctoral dissertation and was finished during his stay in Konstanz though the CNPq/GMD program. The results 2.11 and 2.12 were firstly announced in C.R. Acad. Sc. Paris, t.283 (1977).  相似文献

Given a homomorphism of commutative noetherian rings ?:R→S, Daniel Quillen conjectured in 1970 that if the André-Quillen homology functors Dn(SR;−) vanish for all n?0, then they vanish for all n?3. We prove the conjecture under the additional hypothesis that there exists a homomorphism of rings ψ:S→R such that ?°ψ=idS. More precisely, in this case we show that ψ is a complete intersection at for every prime ideal  of S. Using these results, we describe all algebra retracts SRS for which the algebra TorR(S,S) is finitely generated over Tor0R(S,S)=S.  相似文献

Given a homomorphism of commutative noetherian rings RS and an S-module N, it is proved that the Gorenstein flat dimension of N over R, when finite, may be computed locally over S. When, in addition, the homomorphism is local and N is finitely generated over S, the Gorenstein flat dimension equals , where E is the injective hull of the residue field of R. This result is analogous to a theorem of André on flat dimension.  相似文献

Gorenstein flatness and injectivity over Gorenstein rings   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let R be a Gorenstein ring.We prove that if I is an ideal of R such that R/I is a semi-simple ring, then the Gorenstein flat dimension of R/I as a right R-module and the Gorenstein injective dimension of R/I as a left R-module are identical. In addition,we prove that if R→S is a homomorphism of rings and SE is an injective cogenerator for the category of left S-modules,then the Gorenstein flat dimension of S as a right R-module and the Gorenstein injective dimension of E as a left R-module are identical. We also give some applications of these results.  相似文献

The object of this article is to establish the following result (Corollary 3.9 below): If R is a regular right noetherian ring and R{X} is the free associative algebra on the set X, then Kn(R) = Kn(R{X}), where Kn refers to the Quillen K-theory. The result can be stated in the equivalent form that Hn(G1(R),Z) = Hn(G1(R{X}),Z). From this result it follows that if F is a free ring without unit, then Kn(F) = 0, whence free rings are acyclic models for Quillen K-theory (3.11 below). This result in turn enables us to complete Anderson's work [1] in identifying the Quillen K-theory [11] and the K-theory proposed by Gersten [7] and Swan [18] for all rings. We also establish that the natural transformation Kn(R) → Kn k-v(R) between the Quillen theory and the K-theory of Karoubi and Villamayor is an isomorphism if R is a supercoherent (Definition 1.2) and regular (Definition 1.3) ring. From this result we can gain some information about the K-theory of group rings of free products of groups (Theorem 5.1).  相似文献

Let \(n\in \mathbb {N}\), A and B be Banach algebras and let B be a right A-module. We say that a linear mapping \(\varphi :A\longrightarrow B\) is a pseudo n-Jordan homomorphism if there exists an element \(w\in A\) such that \(\varphi (a^nw)=\varphi (a)^n\cdot w\), for every \(a\in A\) and \(n\ge \) 2. In this paper, among other things, we show that under some conditions if a linear mapping \(\varphi \) is a (pseudo) n-Jordan homomorphism, then it is a (pseudo) \((n + 1)\)-Jordan homomorphism. Additionally, we investigate automatic continuity of surjective pseudo n-Jordan homomorphisms under some conditions.  相似文献
