Abstract

If A is an n × n complex matrix and x ∈ ? n , the conjecture is that if we take the kth power of each component of Ax, the resulting vector belongs to the range of the matrix obtained by taking the kth power of the entries of AA ?, where A ? is the adjoint of A. The conjecture is proved here for any k ≥ 2 when we add assumptions of either low dimension (namely, n ≤ 4) or low corank (0, 1, and, with some technical restrictions, 2). This problem arises in the study of the Jacobian Conjecture.  相似文献

For Riemannian metrics G on ? d which are long range perturbations of the flat one, we prove estimates for (? Δ G  ? λ ?iε)?n as λ → 0, which are uniform with respect to ε, for all n ≤ [d/2] +1 in odd dimension and n ≤ d/2 in even dimension. We study the von Neumann–Jordan (NJ) constant for a class of Day–James spaces, namely the ? p ?? 1 space, as well as its dual space. In this paper, we only consider the case for p ≥ 2, since the case for 1 ≤ p ≤ 2 has been calculated. If (p?2)22(1/p-1) ≤ 1, we obtain the exact value of the NJ constant; if (p?2)22(1/p-1) > 1, we obtain a formula, from which one can determine the exact value of the NJ constant. As a byproduct, we give a partial answer to the question raised by Kato et al. (Studia Math 144:275–295, 2001).  相似文献

In this paper we prove a quantitative form of Landis’ conjecture in the plane. Precisely, let W(z) be a measurable real vector-valued function and V(z) ≥0 be a real measurable scalar function, satisfying ‖W L (R 2) ≤ 1 and ‖V L (R 2) ≤ 1. Let u be a real solution of Δu ? ?(Wu) ? Vu = 0 in R 2. Assume that u(0) = 1 and |u(z)| ≤exp (C 0|z|). Then u satisfies inf |z 0| =R  sup |z?z 0| <1|u(z)| ≥exp (?CRlog R), where C depends on C 0. In addition to the case of the whole plane, we also establish a quantitative form of Landis’ conjecture defined in an exterior domain.  相似文献

Consider an irreducible polynomial of the form f(X) = X p  ? aX ? b ∈ 𝔽[X] and α a root of f(X), where 𝔽 is a field of characteristic p. In 1975, F.J. Sullivan stated a lemma that provides the trace, taken with respect to the extension 𝔽(α)/𝔽, of elements of the form α n , where 0 ≤ n ≤ p 2 ? 1. We present a generalization of Sullivan's Lemma and provide another proof of the original lemma. We explain how computing Tr(α n ) for n < p r can be reduced to computing the traces Tr(α m ) for all m ≤ r(p ? 1).  相似文献

We construct examples of primitive contractions of Calabi–Yau threefolds with exceptional locus being ?1 × ?1, ?2, and smooth del Pezzo surfaces of degrees ≤ 5. We describe the images of these primitive contractions and find their smoothing families. In particular, we give a method to compute the Hodge numbers of a generic fiber of the smoothing familly of each Calabi–Yau threefold with one isolated singularity obtained after a primitive contraction of type II. As an application, we get examples of natural conifold transitions between some families of Calabi–Yau threefolds.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a group G is said to be weakly normal if H g  = H whenever g is an element of G such that H g  ≤ N G (H). There is a strictly relation between weak normality and groups in which normality is a transitive relation ( T-groups). In [Ballester-Bolinches, A., Esteban-Romero, R. (2003). On finite T-groups. J. Aust. Math. Soc. 75:181–191] it is proved that a finite group G is a soluble T-group if and only if every subgroup of G is weakly normal. In this article, we extend the above result to infinite groups having no infinite simple sections. Moreover, it will be shown that every locally graded non-periodic group, all of whose subgroups are weakly normal, is abelian.  相似文献

A ring R with identity is called “clean” if for every element a ? R there exist an idempotent e and a unit u in R such that a = e + u. Let C(R) denote the center of a ring R and g(x) be a polynomial in the polynomial ring C(R)[x]. An element r ? R is called “g(x)-clean” if r = s + u where g(s) = 0 and u is a unit of R and R is g(x)-clean if every element is g(x)-clean. We study L 2 harmonic p-forms on conformally compact manifolds with a rather weak boundary regularity assumption. We proved that if the lower bound of the curvature operator is great than or equal to ?1 and the infimum of the L 2 spectrum of the Laplacian great than p(n ? p) for some p ≤ n/2, then there is no nontrivial L 2 harmonic p-form.  相似文献

In this article, we study the weak global dimension of coherent rings in terms of the left FP-injective resolutions of modules. Let R be a left coherent ring and ? ? the class of all FP-injective left R-modules. It is shown that wD(R) ≤ n (n ≥ 1) if and only if every nth ? ?-syzygy of a left R-module is FP-injective; and wD(R) ≤ n (n ≥ 2) if and only if every (n ? 2)th ? ?-syzygy in a minimal ? ?-resolution of a left R-module has an FP-injective cover with the unique mapping property. Some results for the weak global dimension of commutative coherent rings are also given.  相似文献

A weak Cayley table isomorphism is a bijection φ: G → H of groups such that φ(xy) ~ φ(x)φ(y) for all x, y ∈ G. Here ~denotes conjugacy. When G = H the set of all weak Cayley table isomorphisms φ: G → G forms a group 𝒲(G) that contains the automorphism group Aut(G) and the inverse map I: G → G, x → x ?1. Let 𝒲0(G) = ?Aut(G), I? ≤ 𝒲(G) and say that G has trivial weak Cayley table group if 𝒲(G) = 𝒲0(G). We show that all finite irreducible Coxeter groups (except possibly E 8) have trivial weak Cayley table group, as well as most alternating groups. In this paper we study the t-branch split cuts introduced by Li and Richard (Discret Optim 5:724–734, 2008). They presented a family of mixed-integer programs with n integer variables and a single continuous variable and conjectured that the convex hull of integer solutions for any n has unbounded rank with respect to (n?1)-branch split cuts. It was shown earlier by Cook et al. (Math Program 47:155–174, 1990) that this conjecture is true when n = 2, and Li and Richard proved the conjecture when n = 3. In this paper we show that this conjecture is also true for all n > 3.  相似文献

Under mild conditions on the characteristic exponent or the symbol of Lévy process, we derive explicit estimates for L p (dx) → L q (dx) (1 ≤ p ≤ q ≤ ∞) norms of semigroups and their gradients of the associated Lévy driven Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process. Our result efficiently applies to the class of Lévy driven Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes, where the asymptotic behaviour near infinity for the symbol of Lévy process is known.  相似文献

We consider scattered data approximation problems on SO(3). To this end, we construct a new operator for polynomial approximation on the rotation group. This operator reproduces Wigner-D functions up to a given degree and has uniformly bounded L p -operator norm for all 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞. The operator provides a polynomial approximation with the same approximation degree of the best polynomial approximation. Moreover, the operator together with a Markov type inequality for Wigner-D functions enables us to derive scattered data L p -Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund inequalities for these functions for all 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞. As a major application of such inequalities, we consider the stability of the weighted least squares approximation problem on SO(3).  相似文献
