The lack of faithfulness is however completely understood as long as we restrict to continuous inverse semigroups, a class generalizing the E
*-unitaries.

This paper explores several applications of Möbius functions to the representation theory of finite semigroups. We extend Solomon's approach to the semigroup algebra of a finite semilattice via Möbius functions to arbitrary finite inverse semigroups. This allows us to explicitly calculate the orthogonal central idempotents decomposing an inverse semigroup algebra into a direct product of matrix algebras over group rings. We also extend work of Bidigare, Hanlon, Rockmore and Brown on calculating eigenvalues of random walks associated to certain classes of finite semigroups; again Möbius functions play an important role. 相似文献

Abstract We describe the Hecke algebra ?(Γ,Γ0) of a Hecke pair (Γ,Γ0) in terms of the Hecke pair (N,Γ0) where N is a normal subgroup of Γ containing Γ0. To do this, we introduce twisted crossed products of unital *-algebras by semigroups. Then, provided a certain semigroup S ? Γ/N satisfies S ?1 S = Γ/N, we show that ? (Γ,Γ0) is the twisted crossed product of ? (N,Γ0) by S. This generalizes a recent theorem of Laca and Larsen about Hecke algebras of semidirect products. 相似文献

semigroup is aperiodic if and only if it is a homomorphic image of a finite semigroup whose inverse subsemigroups are semilattices.
(2) A finite inverse semigroup can be represented by order-preserving mappings on a chain if and only if it is a semilattice.

The notion of “near isomorphism” for torsion-free Abelian groups of finite rank is well known. In particular, this concept turned out to be of importance for classifying almost completely decomposable groups. We extend near isomorphism to classes of torsion-free Abelian groups of infinite rank which are unions of bcd–groups, this is to say unions of groups which are bounded essential extensions of completely decomposable groups. Moreover, we show that nearly isomorphic groups of this class also have nearly isomorphic endomorphism rings considered as Abelian groups. 相似文献

In this paper we present a necessary condition for a p-group V ≤ G to be a vertex of some indecomposable direct summand of the permutation module k H ↑ G , where H ≤ G, and G is a finite group. We call this condition H-suitability and present a method how to check for it. In an example, we determine all H-suitable groups. The investigation of U-ample ω-semigroups is initiated. After obtaining some properties of such semigroups, a structure of U-ample ω-semigroups is established. It is proved that a semigroup is a U-ample ω-semigroup if and only if it can be expressed by WBR(T, 0), namely, the weakly Bruck-Reilly extensions of a monoid T. This result not only extends and amplifies the structure theorem of bisimple inverse ω-semigroups given by N. R. Reilly, but also generalizes the structure theorem of ,-bisimple type A ω-semigroups given by U. Asibong-Ibe in 1985. 相似文献
