Let A be a central simple algebra over a field F. Let k1,…, kr be cyclic extensions of F such that k1 ?F… ?Fkr is a field. We investigate conditions under which A is a tensor product of symbol algebras where each field ki lies in a symbol F-algebra factor of the same degree as ki over F. As an application, we give an example of an indecomposable algebra of degree 8 and exponent 2 over a field of 2-cohomological dimension 4.  相似文献

Let d be an odd integer, and let k be a field which contains a primitive dth root of unity. Let l 1 and l 2 be cyclic field extensions of k of degree d with norms n l 1/k and n l 2/k . Minà?'s approach which showed that quadratic Pfister forms are strongly multiplicative is applied to the form n l 1/k  ? n l 2/k of degree d. Let K = k(X 1,…, X d 2 ). We compute polynomials which are similarity factors of a form of the kind N ? (n l 2/k  ? k K) over K, where N is the norm of a certain field extension of K of degree d. These polynomials arise by specializing certain indeterminates of the homogeneous polynomial representing the form n l 1/k  ? n l 2/k to be zero. Similar results are obtained for the tensor product of the norm of a cubic division algebra and a cubic norm n l 1/k .  相似文献

Let A be a central simple algebra over its center F. Define CK1 A = Coker(K1 F → K1 A). We prove that if A and B are F-central simple algebras of coprime degrees, then CK1(A? F B) = CK1 A × CK1 B.  相似文献

Let F be a field of characteristic ≠2 and φ be a quadratic form over F. By X φ we denote the projective variety given by the equation φ=0. For each positive even integer d≥8 (except for d=12) we construct a field F and a pair φ, ψ of anisotropic d-dimensional forms over F such that the Chow motives of X φ and X ψ coincide but . For a pair of anisotropic (2 n -1)-dimensional quadrics X and Y, we prove that existence of a rational morphism YX is equivalent to existence of a rational morphism YX. We consider polynomial identities of group algebras over a field F of characteristic zero. We prove that any PI group algebra satisfies the same identities as a matrix algebra M n (F ), where n is the maximal degree of finite dimensional representations of the group over algebraic extensions of F.  相似文献

Abstract

In connection with a symmetric α stable random measure Φ on a measurable space (F, ?) with values in R d , a complete metric space of symmetric finite measures on S d?1 is constructed, and is employed to characterize the law of Φ by a unique positive measure on ? and a unique function on F × R d . The stochastic integral ∫ F f d Φ is also defined for certain d × d matrix valued functions f, which for α = 2 reduces to the Wiener–Masani integral.  相似文献

Let 𝒲 be the Virasoro-like algebra, and d 1, d 2 be the degree derivations of 𝒲. Set ? = W⊕C d 1⊕C d 2. Let F α(V) be the ?-module defined by Larsson's functor applied to a finite dimensional sl 2-module V. In this article, the derivations from ? to ?-modules F α(V) and the first cohomology group H 1(?, F α(V)) are given.  相似文献

For an extension E: R ? S of (commutative) rings and the induced extension F: R(X) ? S(X) of Nagata rings, the transfer of the FCP and FIP properties between E and F is studied. Then F has FCP ? E has FCP. The extensions E for which F has FIP are characterized. While E has FIP whenever F has FIP, the converse fails for certain subintegral extensions; it does hold if E is integrally closed, seminormal, or subintegral with R quasi-local having infinite residue field. If F has FIP, conditions are given for the sets of intermediate rings of E and F to be order-isomorphic.  相似文献

Abstract

For an ideal I of a Noetherian local ring (R, m ) we consider properties of I and its powers as reflected in the fiber cone F(I) of I. In particular,we examine behavior of the fiber cone under homomorphic image R → R/J = R′ as related to analytic spread and generators for the kernel of the induced map on fiber cones ψ J  : F R (I) → F R(IR′). We consider the structure of fiber cones F(I) for which ker ψ J  ≠ 0 for each nonzero ideal J of R. If dim F(I) = d > 0,μ(I) = d + 1 and there exists a minimal reduction J of I generated by a regular sequence,we prove that if grade(G +(I)) ≥ d ? 1,then F(I) is Cohen-Macaulay and thus a hypersurface.  相似文献

Abstract

We define higher degree hyperbolic forms, analogous to the quadratic hyperbolic forms. We prove the following descent result. Let f be a form of degree d ≥ 3 over a field F of characteristic 0, and let K|f be a field extension. Then if f is equivalent over K to a hyperbolic form, f must already be equivalent to it over F. We also prove that in the monoid of equivalence classes of forms defined over F of a fixed degree d ≥ 3, under the tensor product, the submonoid generated by the equivalence classes of the hyperbolic forms is free. The proofs of these results involve the calculation of the centres and the Lie algebras of the higher degree hyperbolic forms. For the convenience of the reader we expound some of Harrison's seminal paper [5].  相似文献

For a field F of characteristic not 2, let ${\widehat{F}}$ denote the maximal dimension of anisotropic, weakly isotropic, non-degenerate quadratic forms over F. In this paper, we investigate the behavior of this invariant under field extensions.  相似文献

We prove that a general polynomial form of degree d in 4 variables, over the complex field, can be written as the sum of two determinants of 2 × 2 matrices of forms, with given degree matrix (a ij ), for any choice of non-negative integers a ij  ≤ d with a 11 + a 22 = a 12 + a 21 = d.  相似文献

Let φ be an anisotropic quadratic form over a field F of characteristic not 2. The splitting pattern of φ is defined to be the increasing sequence of nonnegative integers obtained by considering the Witt indices iWk) of φ over K where K ranges over all field extensions of F. Restating earlier results by HURRELBRINK and REHMANN , we show how the index of the Clifford algebra of φ influences the splitting pattern. In the case where F is formally real, we investigate how the signatures of φ influence the splitting behaviour. This enables us to construct certain splitting patterns which have been known to exist, but now over much “simpler” fields like formally real global fields or ?(t). We also give a full classification of splitting patterns of forms of dimension less than or equal to 9 in terms of properties of the determinant and Clifford invariant. Partial results for splitting patterns in dimensions 10 and 11 are also provided. Finally, we consider two anisotropic forms φ and φ of the same dimension m with φ ? ? φ ∈ In F and give some bounds on m depending on n which assure that they have the same splitting pattern.  相似文献

We prove that a finite solvable group G admitting a Frobenius group FH of automorphisms of coprime order with kernel F and complement H such that [G, F] = G and C C G (F)(h) = 1 for all nonidentity elements h ∈ H, is of nilpotent length equal to the nilpotent length of the subgroup of fixed points of H.  相似文献

Abstract

Let (X, ≤) be a partially ordered set and suppose there is a metric d on X such that (X, d) is a complete separable metric space and (Ω, Σ) be a measurable space. In this article a pair of random mappings F: Ω × (X × X) → X and g: Ω × X → X, where F has a mixed g-monotone property on X, and F and g satisfy the non-linear contractive condition (5) below, are introduced and investigated. Two coupled random coincidence and coupled random fixed point theorems are proved. These results are random versions and extensions of recent results of Lakshmikantham and ?iri? [V. Lakshmikantham and Lj. ?iri?, Coupled fixed point theorems for nonlinear contractions in partially ordered metric spaces. Nonlinear Anal.—Theor. 70(12) (2009): 4341–4349] and include several recent developments.  相似文献

Let F be a field of characteristic different from 2 and let ø be an anisotropic 8-dimensional quadratic form over F with trivial deter-minant. We study the remaining open cases in the problem of describing the quadratic forms ψ such that ø becomes isotropic over the function field (ψ).  相似文献

We study the projective normality of a linearly normal special scroll R of degree d and speciality i over a smooth curve X of genus g. We relate it with the Clifford index of the base curve X. If d ≥ 4g ? 2i ? Cliff(X) + 1, i ≥ 3 and R is smooth, we prove that the projective normality of the scroll is equivalent to the projective normality of its directrix curve of minimum degree.  相似文献
