Let d and n be positive integers with n ≥ d + 1 and 𝒫 ? ? d an integral cyclic polytope of dimension d with n vertices, and let K[𝒫] = K[?≥0𝒜𝒫] denote its associated semigroup K-algebra, where 𝒜𝒫 = {(1, α) ∈ ? d+1: α ∈ 𝒫} ∩ ? d+1 and K is a field. In the present paper, we consider the problem when K[𝒫] is Cohen–Macaulay by discussing Serre's condition (R 1), and we give a complete characterization when K[𝒫] is Gorenstein. Moreover, we study the normality of the other semigroup K-algebra K[Q] arising from an integral cyclic polytope, where Q is a semigroup generated by its vertices only.  相似文献

We give necessary and sufficient conditions that the pullback of a conductor square be a chain ring (i.e., a ring whose ideals are totally ordered by inclusion). We also give necessary and sufficient conditions that the pullback of a conductor square be an arithmetical ring (i.e., a ring which is locally a chain ring at every maximal ideal). For any integral domain D with field of fractions K, we characterize all Prüfer domains R between D[X] and K[X] such that the conductor C of K[X] into R is nonzero. As an application, we show that for n ≥ 2, such a ring R has the n-generator property (every finitely generated ideal can be generated by n elements) if and only if R/C has the same property.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain and X an indeterminate over D. It is well known that (a) D is quasi-Prüfer (i.e., its integral closure is a Prüfer domain) if and only if each upper to zero Q in D[X] contains a polynomial g ∈ D[X] with content c D (g) = D; (b) an upper to zero Q in D[X] is a maximal t-ideal if and only if Q contains a nonzero polynomial g ∈ D[X] with c D (g) v  = D. Using these facts, the notions of UMt-domain (i.e., an integral domain such that each upper to zero is a maximal t-ideal) and quasi-Prüfer domain can be naturally extended to the semistar operation setting and studied in a unified frame. In this article, given a semistar operation ☆ in the sense of Okabe–Matsuda, we introduce the ☆-quasi-Prüfer domains. We give several characterizations of these domains and we investigate their relations with the UMt-domains and the Prüfer v-multiplication domains.  相似文献

We study the structure of length four polynomial automorphisms of R[X, Y] when R is a unique factorization domain. The results from this study are used to prove that, if SL m (R[X 1, X 2,…, X n ]) = E m (R[X 1, X 2,…, X n ]) for all n, m ≥ 0, then all length four polynomial automorphisms of R[X, Y] that are commutators are stably tame.  相似文献

We show that if R is an infinite ring such that XY ∩ YX ≠ ? for all infinite subsets X and Y, then R is commutative. We also prove that in an infinite ring R, an element a ∈ R is central if and only if aX ∩ Xa ≠ ? for all infinite subsets X.  相似文献

We call an ideal I of a ring R radically perfect if among all ideals whose radical is equal to the radical of I, the one with the least number of generators has this number of generators equal to the height of I. Let R be a ring and R[X] be the polynomial ring over R. We prove that if R is a strong S-domain of finite Krull dimension and if each nonzero element of R is contained in finitely many maximal ideals of R, then each maximal ideal of R[X] of maximal height is the J max-radical of an ideal generated by two elements. We also show that if R is a Prüfer domain of finite Krull dimension with coprimely packed set of maximal ideals, then for each maximal ideal M of R, the prime ideal MR[X] of R[X] is radically perfect if and only if R is of dimension one and each maximal ideal of R is the radical of a principal ideal. We then prove that the above conditions on the Prüfer domain R also imply that a power of each finitely generated maximal ideal of R is principal. This result naturally raises the question whether the same conditions on R imply that the Picard group of R is torsion, and we prove this to be so when either R is an almost Dedekind domain or a Prüfer domain with an extra condition imposed on it.  相似文献

Let R be a PID. We construct and classify all coordinates of R[x, y] of the form p 2 y + Q 2(p 1 x + Q 1(y)) with p 1, p 2 ∈ qt(R) and Q 1, Q 2 ∈ qt(R)[y]. From this construction (with R = K[z]) we obtain nontame automorphisms σ of K[x, y, z] (where K is a field of characteristic 0) such that the subgroup generated by σ and the affine automorphisms contains all tame automorphisms.  相似文献

A subring A of a Prüfer domain B is a globalized pseudo-valuation domain (GPVD) if (i) A?B is a unibranched extension and (ii) there exists a nonzero radical ideal I, common to A and B such that each prime ideal of A (resp., B) containing I is maximal in A (resp., B). Let D be an integral domain, X be an indeterminate over D, c(f) be the ideal of D generated by the coefficients of a polynomial f ∈ D[X], N = {f ∈ D[X] | c(f) = D}, and N v  = {f ∈ D[X] | c(f)?1 = D}. In this article, we study when the Nagata ring D[X] N (more generally, D[X] N v ) is a GPVD. To do this, we first use the so-called t-operation to introduce the notion of t-globalized pseudo-valuation domains (t-GPVDs). We then prove that D[X] N v is a GPVD if and only if D is a t-GPVD and D[X] N v has Prüfer integral closure, if and only if D[X] is a t-GPVD, if and only if each overring of D[X] N v is a GPVD. As a corollary, we have that D[X] N is a GPVD if and only if D is a GPVD and D has Prüfer integral closure. We also give several examples of integral domains D such that D[X] N v is a GPVD.  相似文献

Abstract

Let R[X] be a polynomial ring in one variable over a commutative ring R. If (R,?) is a local ring then any Weierstrass polynomial in R[X] is contained only in the maximal ideal (?,X) of R[X]. We generalise this property of Weierstrass polynomials and investigate properties of polynomials contained in a finite number of maximal ideals in R[X].  相似文献

Abstract

Let D be an integral domain. A multiplicative set S of D is an almost splitting set if for each 0 ≠ d ∈ D, there exists an n = n(d) with d n  = st where s ∈ S and t is v-coprime to each element of S. An integral domain D is an almost GCD (AGCD) domain if for every x, y ∈ D, there exists a positive integer n = n(x, y) such that x n D ∩ y n D is a principal ideal. We prove that the polynomial ring D[X] is an AGCD domain if and only if D is an AGCD domain and D[X] ? D′[X] is a root extension, where D′ is the integral closure of D. We also show that D + XD S [X] is an AGCD domain if and only if D and D S [X] are AGCD domains and S is an almost splitting set.  相似文献

Let M be a left R-module. Then M is a McCoy (resp., dual McCoy) module if for nonzero f(X)∈R[X] and m(X)∈M[X], f(X)m(X) = 0 implies there exists a nonzero rR (resp., mM) with rm(X) = 0 (resp., f(X)m = 0). We show that for R commutative every R-module is dual McCoy, but give an example of a non-McCoy module. A number of other results concerning (dual) McCoy modules as well as arithmetical, Gaussian, and Armendariz modules are given.  相似文献

Let R be a domain and R[X; D] the Ore extension of R by a sequence D of derivations of R. If D has length ≥ 2, we show that the symmetric Utumi quotient ring of R[X; D] is U s (R)[X; D], where U s (R) is the symmetric Utumi quotient ring of R. Consequently, X-inner automorphisms of R[X; D] are induced by units of U s (R) and the extended centroid of R[X; D] consists of those elements α in the center of U s (R) such that δ(α) = 0 for all δ ? D. These extend the known results for free algebras.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain and * a star-operation on D. For a nonzero ideal I of D, let I * f = ?{J* | (0) ≠ J ? I is finitely generated} and I * w = ? P∈* f -Max(D) ID P . A nonzero ideal I of D is called a *-cancellation ideal if (IA)* = (IB)* for nonzero ideals A and B of D implies A* =B*. Let X be an indeterminate over D and N * = {fD[X] | (c(f))* =D}. We show that I is a * w -cancellation ideal if and only if I is * f -locally principal, if and only if ID[X] N * is a cancellation ideal. As a corollary, we have that each nonzero ideal of D is a * w -cancellation ideal if and only if D P is a principal ideal domain for all P ∈ * f -Max(D), if and only if D[X] N * is an almost Dedekind domain. We also show that if I is a * w -cancellation ideal of D, then I * w  = I * f  = I t , and I is * w -invertible if and only if I * w  = J v for a nonzero finitely generated ideal J of D.  相似文献

If R is a ring, and A right annulet(= annihilator right ideal) then A[X] is a right annulet of the polynomial ring R[X]. (In factX can be any set of variables.). An annulet I of R[X] of this form is said to be be extended. Not all annulets of R[X] are extended, since e.g., the ascending chain on right annulets (= acc ┴) is not inherited by R[X], as, Kerr [Ke] observed. Nevertheless, maximal (minimal) annulets of a polynomial ring R[X] are extended, as a theorem of McCopy on annihilators in R[X] readily shows (see Introduction).  相似文献

We give several module-theoretic characterizations of generalized GCD domains. For example, we show that an integral domain R is a generalized GCD domain if and only if semi-divisoriality and flatness are equivalent for torsion-free R-modules if and only if every w-finite w-module is projective if and only if R is w-Prüfer (in the sense of Zafrullah). We also characterize when a pullback R of a certain type is a generalized GCD domain. As an application, we characterize when R = D + XE[X] (here, D ? E is an extension of domains and X is an indeterminate) is a generalized GCD domain.  相似文献

We prove a number of results concerning Armendariz rings and Gaussian rings. Recall that a (commutative) ring R is (Gaussian) Armendariz if for two polynomials f,gR[X] (the ideal of R generated by the coefficients of f g is the product of the ideals generated by the coefficients of f and g) fg = 0 implies a i b j=0 for each coefficient a i of f and b j of g. A number of examples of Armendariz rings are given. We show that R Armendariz implies that R[X] is Armendariz and that for R von Neumann regularR is Armendariz if and only if R is reduced. We show that R is Gaussian if and only if each homomorphic image of R is Armendariz. Characterizations of when R[X] and R[X] are Gaussian are given.  相似文献

Abstract

Let A be a commutative ring with identity, let X, Y be indeterminates and let F(X,Y), G(X, Y) ∈ A[X, Y] be homogeneous. Then the pair F(X, Y), G(X, Y) is said to be radical preserving with respect to A if Rad((F(x, y), G(x, y))R) = Rad((x,y)R) for each A-algebra R and each pair of elements x, y in R. It is shown that infinite sequences of pairwise radical preserving polynomials can be obtained by homogenizing cyclotomic polynomials, and that under suitable conditions on a ?-graded ring A these can be used to produce an infinite set of homogeneous prime ideals between two given homogeneous prime ideals P ? Q of A such that ht(Q/P) = 2.  相似文献

Let R be a UFD, and let M(R, n) be the set of all subalgebras of the form R[f], where f ∈ R[x 1,…, x n ]?R. For a polynomial f ∈ R[x 1,…, x n ]?R, we prove that R[f] is a maximal element of M(R, n) if and only if it is integrally closed in R[x 1,…, x n ] and Q(R)[f] ∩ R[x 1,…, x n ] = R[f]. Moreover, we prove that, in the case where the characteristic of R equals zero, R[f] is a maximal element of M(R, n) if and only if there exists an R-derivation on R[x 1,…, x n ] whose kernel equals R[f].  相似文献

We define a universal star operation to be an assignment *: A ? * A of a star operation * A on A to every integral domain A. Prime examples of universal star operations include the divisorial closure star operation v, the t-closure star operation t, and the star operation w = F of Hedstrom and Houston. For any universal star operation *, we say that an extension B ? A of integral domains is *-ideal class linked if there is a group homomorphism Cl* A (A) → Cl* B (B) of star class groups induced by the map I ? (IB)* B on the set of * A -ideals I of A. We study several natural subclasses of the class of *-ideal class linked extensions.  相似文献
