The concept of quasi-adequate transversals is introduced. Some properties and characterizations for abundant semigroups with a multiplicative quasi-adequate transversal are obtained. In particular, a structure theorem for such abundant semigroups is given. Finally, some special cases are considered. We consider adequate transversals of abundant semigroups and prove that, in a particular case, there is a natural embedding of an inverse transversal within a certain regular subsemigroup. We also introduce the concepts of simplistic, perfect, and quasi-adequate transversal and provide a number of interesting connections between these.  相似文献

A semigroup is regular if it contains at least one idempotent in each ?-class and in each ?-class. A regular semigroup is inverse if it satisfies either of the following equivalent conditions: (i) there is a unique idempotent in each ?-class and in each ?-class, or (ii) the idempotents commute. Analogously, a semigroup is abundant if it contains at least one idempotent in each ?*-class and in each ?*-class. An abundant semigroup is adequate if its idempotents commute. In adequate semigroups, there is a unique idempotent in each ?* and ?*-class. M. Kambites raised the question of the converse: in a finite abundant semigroup such that there is a unique idempotent in each ?* and ?*-class, must the idempotents commute? The aim of this paper is to investigate abundant semigroups with a multiplicative adequate transversal. Some properties and characterizations for such semigroups are obtained. In particular, we establish the structure of this class of abundant semigroups in terms of left normal bands, right normal bands and adequate semigroups with some simple compatibility conditions. Generalized orthodox transversals are introduced in this article, and some characterizations associated with them are obtained. The related results of Chen on quasi-ideal orthodox transversals obtained in 1999 and Zhang and Wang on generalized inverse transversals obtained in 2008 are generalized and amplified. A structure theorem of a regular semigroup with a perfect generalized orthodox transversal is also established.  相似文献

We first consider an ordered regular semigroup S in which every element has a biggest inverse and determine necessary and sufficient conditions for the subset S of biggest inverses to be an inverse transversal of S. Such an inverse transversal is necessarily weakly multiplicative. We then investigate principally ordered regular semigroups S with the property that S is an inverse transversal. In such a semigroup we determine precisely when the set S of biggest pre-inverses is a subsemigroup and show that in this case S is itself an inverse transversal of a subsemigroup of S. The ordered regular semigroup of 2 × 2 boolean matrices provides an informative illustrative example. The structure of S, when S is a group, is also described.  相似文献

The so-called split IC quasi-adequate semigroups are in the class of idempotent-connected quasi-adequate semigroups. It is proved that an IC quasi-adequate semigroup is split if and only if it has an adequate transversal. The structure of such semigroup whose band of idempotents is regular will be particularly investigated. Our obtained results enrich those results given by McAlister and Blyth on split orthodox semigroups.  相似文献

Let R and F be arbitrary associative rings. A mapping φ of R onto F is called a multiplicative isomorphism if φ is bijective and satisfies φ(xy) = φ(x)φ(y) for all x, y ∈ R. In this short note, we establish a condition on R, in the case where R may not contain any non-zero idempotents, that assures that φ is additive, which generalizes the famous Martindale's result. As an application, we show that under a mild assumption every multiplicative isomorphism from the radical of a nest algebra onto an arbitrary ring is additive.  相似文献

This article focuses on two recent results on multiplicative invariants of finite reflection groups: Lorenz (2001 Lorenz , M. ( 2001 ). Multiplicative invariants and semigroup algebras . Alg. and Rep. Theory 4 : 293304 . [Google Scholar]) showed that such invariants are affine normal semigroup algebras, and Reichstein (2003 Reichstein , Z. ( 2003 ). SAGBI bases in rings of multiplicative invariants . Commentarii Math. Helvetici 78 ( 1 ): 185202 .[Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) proved that the invariants have a finite SAGBI basis. Reichstein (2003 Reichstein , Z. ( 2003 ). SAGBI bases in rings of multiplicative invariants . Commentarii Math. Helvetici 78 ( 1 ): 185202 .[Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) also showed that, conversely, if the multiplicative invariant algebra of a finite group G has a SAGBI basis, then G acts as a reflection group. There is no obvious connection between these two results. We will show that multiplicative invariants of finite reflection groups have a certain embedding property that implies both results simultaneously.  相似文献
