We consider the class ? of finitely generated toral relatively hyperbolic groups. We show that groups from ? are commutative transitive and generalize a theorem proved by Benjamin Baumslag in [3] to this class. We also discuss two definitions of (fully) residually-𝒞 groups, i.e., the classical Definition 1.1 and a modified Definition 1.4. Building upon results obtained by Ol'shanskii [18] and Osin [22], we prove the equivalence of the two definitions for 𝒞 = ?. This is a generalization of the similar result obtained by Ol'shanskii for 𝒞 being the class of torsion-free hyperbolic groups. Let Γ ∈ ? be non-abelian and non-elementary. Kharlampovich and Miasnikov proved in [14] that a finitely generated fully residually-Γ group G embeds into an iterated extension of centralizers of Γ. We deduce from their theorem that every finitely generated fully residually-Γ group embeds into a group from ?. On the other hand, we give an example of a finitely generated torsion-free fully residually-? group that does not embed into a group from ?; ? is the class of hyperbolic groups. 相似文献

Let G be a finite group, and write cd(G) for the set of degrees of irreducible characters of G. We say G satisfies the one-prime hypothesis if whenever a and b are distinct degrees in cd(G), then the greatest common divisor of a and b is either 1 or a prime. We show that if G is a solvable group satisfying the one-prime hypothesis, then |cd(G)|≤9. We also construct a solvable group G satisfying the one-prime hypothesis with |cd(G)|=9 which shows that the bound found in this paper is the best possible bound.

Given an arbitrary identity v=1, there exists a positive integer N=N(v) such that for every metabelian group G and every generating set A for G the following holds: If each subgroup of G generated by at most N elements of A satisfies the identity v=1 then the group G itself satisfies this identity. For a finite group G, let T(G) denote a set of primes such that a prime p belongs to T(G) if and only if p is a divisor of the index of some maximal subgroup of G. Let M be a quantizable symplectic manifold. If ψt is a loop in the group {Ham}(M) of Hamiltonian symplectomorphisms of M and A is a 2k-cycle in M, we define a symplectic action κA(ψ)∊ U(1) around ψt(A), which is invariant under deformations of ψ, and such that κA(ψ) depends only on the homology class of A. Using properties of κA( ) we determine a lower bound for ♯π1(Ham(O)), where O is a quantizable coadjoint orbit of a compact Lie group. In particular we prove that ♯π1(Ham(CPn)) ≥ n+1.

Denote by ω(G) the number of orbits of the action of Aut(G) on the finite group G. We prove that if G is a finite nonsolvable group in which ω(G) ≤5, then G is isomorphic to one of the groups A5, A6, PSL(2, 7), or PSL(2, 8). We investigate the palindromic width of finitely generated solvable groups. We prove that every finitely generated 3-step solvable group has finite palindromic width. More generally, we show the finiteness of the palindromic width for finitely generated abelian-by-nilpotent-by-nilpotent groups. For arbitrary solvable groups of step ≥3, we prove that if G is a finitely generated solvable group that is an extension of an abelian group by a group satisfying the maximal condition for normal subgroups, then the palindromic width of G is finite.
